It’s getting to mid-day and Cindy couldn’t reach Samuel, so she put a call throu-gh to Ellen.

?Ellen… how’re you?

Cindy said, whining like a baby.
?What happened to you? Where are you? Are you okay?
?I miss Samuel.
?Are you seriously telling me this?
?Of course! He’s not picking my calls and he haven’t spoken to me since yesterday when I left his house
?He might be busy or something. Calm down…have you eaten?

?I cooked but I lost interest at the end. I want fried yam but I’m too lazy to do that. So I’m hungry.

Ellen has ended the call before Cindy could finish her statement.
“Oh…gosh ! Ellen you’re one trouble!” She said resting her back on the couch.
“Sam…” She called with a sleepy voice. Minutes later, she was fast asleep.

The doorbell to Lizzy’s ap@rtment rang.
“I wasn’t expecting anyone today.” Lizzy said.
“Is that Angela?” Ann asked.
“I am not sure. But let me get the door first. Focus on your as-signment.” Lizzy said.
Ann nodded innocently and continued her as-signments while Lizzy went to the door.
“John told me he won’t be around this weekend…” She muttered as she get more closer to the door.
She opened it without peeping throu-gh the peephole on the door.
Her eyes wi-de-ned in shock and her heartbeat increa-sed seeing the figure in her front.
“J..j..John?” She called more like a questioning manner.
“Yeah babe. Are you okay?” John asked.
“Yes I’m okay. You told me you won’t..”
He interrupted her.
“Yes, I said so. But the trip has been cancelled till another time. So I just br@nch here to give you the surprise visit.”
” O…okay.” Lizzy said finding it ha-rd to breathe.
” I expect you to hvg me for you told me you gonna miss me a lot. And now I’m here, you’re acting weird. Any problem?”
” Not at all..” Lizzy answered and hvgged him even though her mind is not at rest.
” Mummy, I don’t know this p@rticular number. Can you come and explain to me?” Ann voice was heard from the living room.
Lizzy wished the ground to open up and swallow her that moment.
John slowly withdrew from the hvg and made her face him.
” Did I heard right?” He asked.
Lizzy was picking on her nails. Word failed her.
” Mum, you are not…” Ann c@m£ to view but st©pped talking as she saw John.
” Sorry, I have no idea you have a visitor.” Ann said and turned to leave but John called her back.

” Me?” Ann asked.
John nodded and gestured for her to come close and she did…

“Thank you sir.”
“You’re welcome. How old are you?”
“I’m eight. I’d be nine in two weeks time.”
” Really? Happy birthday In advance.”
” Thank you sir.”
John handed one of the bag he was holding to her. It contains food & snacks.
Ann hesitated looking at her mum innocently waiting for her approval but she’s getting none.
“Have it, your mum won’t say anything.” John said studying the little girl.
“Mum told me not to collect things from strangers.” Ann said
“Am I a stranger to you?” He asked.
Ann nodded her head positively slowly in response.
“Why? I thought we just converse some minutes ago.’
” But I don’t know your name.”
” I’m John. ”
” What do you do for a living?”
” A doctor.”
” Wow! Mum is a nurse. Does that mean, you both work in the same hospital?” She asked.
” Yes.” John answered.
” Who are you to mum?” Ann asked again.
” Ann…just leave.” Lizzy muttered.
” Mum…plea-se.”
” Leave the little girl alone. Have it,okay? If your mum beat you, just let me know when next we meet.” John said.
” I can’t wait to see you again! Thank you for this.” Ann said and smiled cutely.
John smiled in return and the little girl left them giggling on her way to the living room as she checked what she’s holding.
Lizzy couldn’t breath as she was lost in the world of her own thought.
“She’s lovely.” John said facing her.
Lizzy looked up to meet his gaze but quic-kly lowered it again.
“Have this too. Take care. See you at work on Monday.” John said, took her hand and gave the bag to her.
He turned to leave when Lizzy spoke out
“I… I’m sorry.” She said faintly.
“For?” John asked.
She kept quiet again. John took a look at her and left.

Alice and George slowly entered the said ward and their eyes wi-de-ned seeing Dammie on the hospital be-d with a woman by her side.
“Good afternoon.” George said.
Mrs Jenny looked up to their direction and hissed loudly.
” Welcome…you are George, right?” She asked ..
” Yes ma’am ” he answered.
Mrs Jenny scanned him from head to toe along with Alice that’s standing beside him with a disgusting face.
” Do you know her?” She asked pointing at Dammie.
George nodded positively.
” Good. She’s pregnant for you and you’re the father. Get re-ady for the necessary things ’cause my daughter would never be put to shame by nurturing the pregnancy all alone in my house.” Mrs Jenny said
” What do you mean ma?” George asked again to be sure.
” Dammie’s pregnant and you must marry her because she must not ab-ort the pregnancy. The chances of her giving birth smoothly without any problem Is even slim…what is it that you don’t un-derstand?’ Mrs Jenny shouted at him tears rolling down her cheeks.
Emmanuel had angrily left the hospital after hearing what the doctor said.
He couldn’t believe his ears when the doctor told them of the series of ab-ortions she’d indulged in and the complications that might arise with the current pregnancy.
“That means you’re busy having ab-ortions in Cindy’s hospital… that’s why you don’t want that lady for me in case she told me about it right?” He had shouted at her when she woke up earlier crying like tomorrow never exist.
“You’re busy painting the innocent lady for me when you’re the one doing the acts?” He had said angrily and stormed out of the hospital.
Mrs Jenny’s eyes were watery too. She couldn’t believe that she failed as a mother on her two children.
She was busy crying too when she asked Dammie about the pregnancy and the owner.
” Erm…ma. I and Dammie would settle this when she’s perfectly okay.” George said and looked at his side but couldn’t find Alice.
She’s left!
“Alice!” He shouted and hurriedly left the ward not minding the issue at hand.

MONDAY MORNING
Cindy have not been able to reach Samuel still. Ellen c@m£ visiting on Sunday. She spent the whole day with her which makes her forget about her worries a little. Although, Ellen didn’t tell her about the plans to investigate about Cindy’s pregnancy. They had lots of fun, crack jokes, gist and all.
Cindy woke up with a ban-ging headache at a side of her head.. she checked the time and her eyes wi-de-ned. The time is 08:15.
“Oh my Jesus! How come?” She exclaimed as she hurried down from the be-d and entered the bathroom.

Lizzy couldn’t hide the fact she’s feeling guilty of not telling John about her past and pres£nt. Getting down from her car, she took a look around the garage searching for any of John’s car but found none. She spent more than five minutes looking for his car before she gave up and made her way inside the hospital building.
“What have I done? What have you Lizzy?” She questioned herself.
She couldn’t do any other thing again since he left. And she wasn’t able to answer any of Ann’s question as well. He didn’t call her and she’s scare of calling him either.
This thought and more were going throu-gh her head when she bu-mped Into Samuel almost falling down but he caught her.
“Oh… my! I’m sorry.” She apologized as she regain her balance and was surprised to see Samuel..
. it’s been long she’s acted stupid and she right now she feels so stupid as she remembered all the crazy things she’s done all in the name of loving him.
Likewise it’s been long she’s seen him in the hospital because she no longer work in his team but in John’s team now.
“Are you okay?” Samuel’s angelic voice j£rked her out of her thought.
“Y… Yeah. Thank you.” She said looking up to meet his eyes.
Samuel smiled and made to leave when she st©pped him by holding his arm. He st©pped and turned to her. She let go of his arm and cleared her throat.
“Can I make it up with you during lunch or dinner ?” She asked looking up at him.
“Make what up with me?” Samuel asked .
“I will call you and s£nd you the address.” She said and was about leaving when her eyes went to the entrance door…
There, was John and Cindy watching them like they’re some movie. Samuel saw that and traced her gaze to the entrance door and saw the same thing.
He stared at Cindy for some seconds before looking away.
He walked away without a word. Lizzy and John stared at each other as if nothing else matter that moment. Cindy felt hurt seeing how Samuel walked away without acknowledging her pres£nce so she left the place to her office.
Lizzy made an attempt to talk but John looked and walked away before she could say ‘jack’.
She felt so hurt and feel like her world is tearing into pieces. She eventually walked away slowly.

Samuel got his office and breathed out repla-ying earlier scene in his head. He was took away by Cindy’s beauty and was allured to go to her and do something crazy but he thankfully he was able to restrain himself.
“Is she looking beautiful day after day? She looks more attrac-tive than the other time i saw her last.” He thought and almost immediately pinch himself.
” How’d I be thinking of such to her? Oh…I’m becoming more corrupt.” He said and sat down thinking about her.
He took his phone to call her but he st©pped himself.
” No…you can’t call her or you’d say something crazy.’ he said and tossed his phone away.
“Gosh! You’re driving me crazy!”

She smiled and dropped her phone. She couldn’t just ask for more. Ellen has been a lovely soul. Her phone ring again, she checked the caller hoping it’d be Samuel but it turn out to be her mother. She smiled a little and picked it anyways.

Alice has refused to come out of her room since the day she left the hospital. But when she noticed that George would have leave home for work, she c@m£ out and sat in the living room still moody and her head full of thoughts.
Soon, she stood up and went to the kitchen to sort herself out.

“How’s she now?” Emmanuel asked doctor Lawrence in his office.
“Responding very well to treatment.”
“When will she be discharge?”
“In few days time. I’d let you know when it’d be.”
“Okay.” He said and stood up to leave expecting doctor Lawrence to say about Cindy again but he said nothing.
Emmanuel glanced back to him and face him.
“Ain’t you gonna say anything about Cindy?” He asked.
“What do you want me to say?” Doctor asked.
“Nevermind ” he said left his office.

On Ellen’s drive home, she got a call from Fred and picked it using her ear pod.

?Are you just driving to work?

Fred called nurse Mimi immediately he dropped his phone.
“You called sir.’
” Yeah…can you bring me the records of the in vitro fertilization we’ve performed so far.”
” Why sir? Is there any problem with any of the patient?”
” Not at all. Just wanna check out something.”
” Like…how many months back?”
” Four months back to pres£nt.”
” Alright sir.”
Fred nodded and Mimi left his office.
Minutes later, she c@m£ back with the record books. She placed it in front of him and waited.
“You can leave.”
“Sir ..I should leave?” She asked again.
“Yeah.”
Mimi nodded and made to leave…
“Wait,”
Mimi turned to him.
“s£nd it to my mail…this book look bulky.”
“No problem sir. A minute.”
“Make it snappy.”
“Yes sir.” Mimi said and left.
Fred breathed in and start the search. He started looking for any name that has ‘Cindy’.

Few Hours Later.
Cindy heard a knock on her office door. A woman was in with her.
“Just go to the pharmacy and give this to them.”
“Thank you doctor. I am so grateful.”
“You’re welcome.”
The woman stood and left her office, then Ellen entered.
“My goodness! You didn’t call.”
“Must I? When I know you’d be right here.” Ellen answered and places the basket containing the food on her table.
“Thank you so much for this. I am grateful.” Cindy appreciated.
“My plea-sure.” Ellen said.
“You ain’t sitting.”
“Yes, I am leaving and you don’t expect me to sit here with you and start gisting.” Ellen said.
” You’re right.” Cindy said and brou-ght out the food from the basket.
She closed it back immediately she opened it.
” What happened?” Ellen asked.
” Nothing. I will eat later. I forgot there’s a patient I wanna attend to.”
” Okay then. I’m leaving then. Take care. Call me if you nee-d anything.” Ellen said and left her office.
Immediately Ellen vacated her office, she quic-kly packed the food into the basket again.
” Who am I to tell her I lost interest in the food? Now I want pizza.” She said.
