Chapter 23: THE GIRL BY THE BEACH.

He was laying by the river, his b©dy on the sand while Enya rested her head on his ba-re che-st.

The wind which b!ow from the stream to where they la-id cause Enya to shiver.

She ru-bbe-d her hand on his che-st, while his hand tangled her soft dark brown hair.

” It’s beautiful out here, you never told me some where like this existed.”

” I never did because I wanted to make it a surprise. You like it, don’t you?”

She rose her head from his che-st, staring at him. ” Of course, I do. You never know how much I have dreamt about being in a place like this. I feel like staying for eternity.” She la-id her head again on his b©dy.

” Can you swim?” She asked.

He chuckled.

” Why are you laughing at my question? Can you swim?” She repeated.

” I don’t… swim.”

” Hmmm. Why? You’re scared you might get drowned?”

He hesitated to say the word, ” No.”

Enya again sat up, now she was looking de-ep into his eyes. ” You hesitated, why?” He didn’t say anything. ” Did some thing bad happen? Did I remind you of your past?” She asked, worried. Searching for an answer in his eyes.

” No, you didn’t.”

” Some thing troubles you, My love, what is it?” Now she was becoming worried than she should.

” I was eight years old and I didn’t know anything then.” He started. ” I had this friends, they were good at swimming and with the skills. While me, I was just the prince everyone knew.

I had this compas-sion to do things like others but my parents never let me do anything. I always watch from my window, it’s was fun pla-ying with the river… with the kids.

But I couldn’t have this fun because, it’s me locked up in my room every day. So one day, hours before the kids always come to pla-y, I sneaked out of the castle to the river.” He sighed.

Enya adjusted herself to listen to what he was about to say. ” I was out there alone. First, I was pla-ying with my feet, feeling the cold on my skin. Then I thought that I should give it a try.

You know, trying to swim. I did but… I couldn’t.” He scoffed.

” You drowned?”

” I almost did. Luckily, the kids c@m£… c@m£ more earlier than other days so… they did save my life. ” He sighed again, heavily. ” Since then, I promised myself I would never ever swim in my life.”

Turns to her. ” So, what about you, can you swim?” He asked her.

” No.” hands rested at her back, while her eyes were fixed up to the sky, ” You’re lucky, you know. No one would have known you ever existed if not for them.”

” I know.”

” How did you get back home?” She asked.

” I’m not sure I can remember.”

” Yeah, you must have had a lot of water in your b©dy, ha ha.”

” There was this girl, dark hair, little and she looked innocent. She was fixing her legs into her shoes, I couldn’t see what she looks like… my head was damn filled and I was … I felt dizzy. I think the other kids had gone then.”

” They left her all alone at the river? ”

He chuckled. ” I think so.”

” So tell me about this little girl.”

” When I woke up, I don’t even know what happened but… the least I can ever remember was her saving my life. I couldn’t tell her thank you. I mean, I bwish I had the chance to but… I can’t even remember her even if I meet her.

Her face… it’s all blur in my head. I wish I can get to see her again. I wish I can get the chance to say thank you to her. ”

Enya held the tears back from escaping her eyes. She can’t believe she had forgotten that moment. That very day she met him for the first time.

She was little… so little but felt love. When everyone had gone with lost hope that he’d survive, she stayed back.

Gave him the k!ssof life and… that was it. That was how it all started. The k!ss. Yes, it was the k!ss.

It was soft, thosel-ips on hers. But then, she knew nothing about it. She was only trying to save his life.

That day, was the beginning of her dreams. Seeing his face every single night, at the river, laying helpless on the ground.

And when he had woken up, when his soft voice searched for hope, it was like a spark to watch him alive again.

She walked up to him, squ-atted with her brown eyes searching into his. She smiled broadly at him, ” You’re alive.” Her tiny voice sounded with a soft chuckle.

” What am I doing here?” He asked faintly.

” You almost drowned out there.” She said, pointing at the river. ” What were you thinking? ”

” I was only trying to swim… like you guys.”

She smiled. ” But you shouldn’t have come alone.”

” No one would have teach me even if I c@m£ with you guys.”

” Someone would, you just haven’t asked yet.” Looks up at the cloud, then at him. ” It’s dark alre-ady, we shouldn’t be here. Come on, let’s get you out of here.”

She held his hand while they walked out of the beach. St©pping at the pathway which led to the castle, she let go off him. ” I have to go now or my parents will be worried about me. Good bye.”

She turned to leave but he st©pped her. ” Wait.”

” Yes.” She answered, smiling at him.

” What’s your name?” He asked her.

” I’ll tell you when we meet again.”

” Why not now?” He pleaded.

” It’s better if you don’t know it now. I promise, when we meet again, I will tell you.” She promised.

” Well I’ll tell you mine. ” He looked at her for an answer.

” You sure?”

” My name is Riguez and my father’s name is Rod. So everyone calls me Rodriguez. It’s crazy, isn’t it?”

She shook her head. ” You have a pretty name. I must get going.”

” Bye.” He waved at her. ” Good bye my friend.”

” Good bye.” That was the last time they ever saw each other, but that wasn’t the last time she st©pped thinking about him.

He was always in there, de-ep inside her heart every blessed second. He was the reason why she refused so many proposals which c@m£ her way.

He was the reason she had a troubled heart for love. He was likewise the reason she envied and felt jealous to who ever c@m£ to him.

She felt like meeting each other when they were little was fate, but when she grew up, she doubted it was actually fate.

Little did she knew, it was indeed fate’s doing for her to meet him at the appointed time.

” Did you get to meet her again?” She asked, and he shook his head.

” We never met again. And I didn’t even get to know her name. ”

” Have you thought about her or what she’ll look like after those years you never saw her?”

” I keep imagining that innocent face grow to be something beautiful. Even till now, I don’t why I can’t get her off my head.”

That’s because he was staring at that innocent face years back, grown to be someone gorgeously beautiful.

” One day, you will surely see her.”

” I don’t think so.”

” Why would you say that?”

” It’s years since the incident, it’s pointless hoping to see her now. Especially when I have you to myself.” He picked her cheek.

” Let’s have our bath and then we go home.” She nodded.

She was in thoughts that she spent nearly five minutes loos£ning the ropes of her go-wn.

Riguez held her hands, ” Let me help you.”

Her eyes moved to him, those ocean blue eyes still remained the same as years ago. She was staring but he didn’t know why.

Why he had loos£n it all, he shifted the fabric off her shoulders. It st©pped on her brea-st, then with his hands he slides it more further till it got to her w@!st.

Pausing, he looked at her for a go ahead. She slightly nodded her head at him to continue.

Now, she was standing stake n-ked before him, but her eyes never attempt to leave his. Each time he stared at her n-ked, it felt new to him.

His eyes scanned her from head to toe, then back to her face. ” I’ll bath you tonight.”

” I’m not lazy.”

” I didn’t say you are, ”

” Why would you want to bath me?”

” Because… I think it’s my responsibility to. ”

Chapter 24: EVIL DEED (2)

*
*
*

It’s been two days they had visited the beach. Arwen was delaying at s£nding a letter to her.

This got Enya worried and concerned. Has Anna found out that she knows of her secret?

Is Arwen hurt? Does every thing seem to be alright? Enya decided to write a letter to her instead, trying to make sure every thing was alright.

After she had s£nt the letter, she sat on the be-d, ma-king a decorative pattern of rabbits on a white fabric.

She thought of her discussion with Riguez at the beach, how sweet spending such a wonderful time with him.

Then the thought of the little girl at the river popped into her mind. It was so difficult for her to tell him it was her.

She was the girl that evening by the beach. The same girl who had saved his life when the other kids thought he was dead.

She couldn’t make it up to her promise because her mother found out about her sneaking out of the palace and made a strict watch over her.

Every day she wrote letters upon letters to him. Though she knew it was impossible to s£nd to him, she only kept it to herself.

And she had a shelf of the letters with no one to re-ad them.

Some times when she was alone and lonely, she imagined him re-ading one of those letters.

Or she would re-ad it, imagining him by her side listening to every words.

Then he left Pendamour where he lived with his uncle and mother, journeying back to his hometown, Brok.

When Enya heard of the news, she felt so sad. She knew it would be impossible to meet him again.

And she won’t be able to keep to her promise to him. What if he finds someone else? What if there appear to be another little girl by the beach? She thought to herself.

Until that day when king Neheb said about the ball at Brok, Enya felt so much delighted than any of her sisters because she knew she would finally meet the one person after her heart.

Until two days ago, she finally un-derstood why fate had pla-yed on her.

” My Lady,” Joana said from the door. ” It’s me, Joana.”

” plea-se, come in.” Joana made her way in. ” What is it?” She asked.

” You have a letter from Pendamour.”

Enya thought it was from Arwen, but was disappointed to see it was from Lady Moreen rather.

Though she felt happy hearing from her mother, but right now, she wanted some thing more… serious.

She smiled at how disturbe-d her mother was about having a grandchild.

Though Lord Rodriguez had once asked her about having a child, she explained to him that she wasn’t re-ady for it.

Not that she wasn’t re-ady, she was only scared about bearing the pains of ma-king love with him as it would be her first time.

Riguez un-derstood her excuse, and promised to be patient till when ever she was re-ady.

Mother didn’t say anything about Arwen, does it mean that everything is alright?

But why hasn’t Arwen written to her for the past five days now?

She left for training. Some times she’d go without bothering Jonah, it was only when she nee-ded his as-sistance, she’d call for his attention.

She was becoming perfect in it and few of the times, Riguez was always there to as-sist her.

She was only training to get the troubled thoughts off her mind. She won’t bear the chance to hear some thing bad has happened to her little sister.

” Joana?” She called her maid.

” Yes, My Lady.”

” s£nd a letter to my mother, I nee-d to know how my sisters are fairing. ” She said.

” I will do that immediately.” She left back to the palace.

Has something really gone wrong? Why does she seem so trouble-minded?

” Are you alright?” Riguez asked, k!ss!ngher cheek.

” Of course.” She lied.

” You’ve been holding that arrow for minutes now, are you sure you want to talk about it?” She looked at him, hoping he’d see throu-gh her mind and re-ad her worries.

” I am fine.” She faked a smile. ” Mother wrote to me this morning.”

” What did she say?”

” She was concerned about us not having a child yet. She seems so impatient about it. ”

” You aren’t re-ady yet, so we shouldn’t be too forward. ”

” No, I think I am re-ady. I want to carry our child… your child. ”

Riguez was staring at her, like she had unleashed his hidden happiness.

So long has he waited to have her on him,
hisl-ips on hers. To have a way into her, producing and after effect, one to be called his own.

” For you have asked for it, I will give it to you, wholeheartedly. ”

But do you think the love will work out with Anna finally ma-king her way into Brok?

Awaiting for the day to reach when she will hatch into action.

For the meantime, she dwell in an old hut where no one can suspect her evil actions.

She keeps reciting ancient words introduced by the sorceress. Over and over again she said it in the spell.

Each night, she called on his name. From the magic water, she’d watch every action he took.
She would stay awake all night, watching as he sle-pt.

Happiness always filled her heart each time she sees him. ” Not for long, sweetheart, not for long. Very soon, you will be mine and I will be yours. ” She sm-irked evilly.

” And to you, Lady Enya, I am approaching to your doorstep to take what belongs to you and have it all to myself. ” She laughed devilishly. ” Just very soon.” The laughter continued.

She j£rked up from be-d, breathing heavily. Was it a nightmare, or has she just seen Anna reality?

The ugly laughter kept echoing in her head, that she went to the bathroom to wash her face. Staring at the mirror, she exhaled heavily.

” Arwen, what is taking you so long to reply? plea-se, tell me you are alright. Tell me Anna isn’t still after me and my marriage. Oh… Oh plea-se, I’m worried. Of course, I am. ”

She heard the sound of the door close, ” Who is that? Joana, is that you? ” She asked from the bathroom.

” My Lady? ” She heard his voice, sighing in relief.

” My Lord.” She said, exiting the bathroom. ” What took you so long? I was… so worried you wouldn’t come back tonight. How was the meeting? ” She asked, taking off her silky go-wn, leaving the transparent short go-wn on.

” It was fine. I went to see a good friend of mine after the meeting, it’s been years we last saw each other. ”

” I un-derstand. Would you mind for anything to eat? ” She asked. ” I can call Joana to get in your food. ”

” I am not hungry. ” He said.

” Then I see your friend did serve you something. ” She went to help him take off his shi-t. ” Your b©dy is sweaty, you must take a shower.”

” I know.” She spre-ad his shi-t on the hanger stand, while he went to take a bath.

She la-id on the be-d, listening to the splashing water sounding from the bathroom.

She was having this crazy imagination of the both of them, together on each other’s arms that she didn’t notice he was done bathing.

He placed a k!sson her cheek, ” Still awake?” He asked.

” Not feeling sleepy? ”

” Why? ”

” Just woke up from sleep few minutes ago. ”

” I’m sorry I kept you worried. ”

” You don’t have to, I’m happy you’re here now. Come. Come sit with me. ” She adjusted herself for him to sit on the be-d.

” There’s some thing that I wish to tell you. Some thing that troubles my heart I think you should know about. ”

” What is it that troubles your heart, My Lady? ”

” It’s… It’s.. ” she stammered. ” It’s about the girl at the beach.”
