Episode 19.

I wasn’t my self in school the next day and Sandra noticed it. I still could not un-derstand how God can work such a wonder for me when I am here thinking its over I didn’t know it was just the beginning.
“Are you okay? She asked tapping me and I nodded.
“Is that so? Then why haven’t you answered my question? She asked.
“Question? Did you ask a question? Sorry about that, I replied cleaning my face and breathed out.
“What is the problem or do you plan keeping whatever it is to yourself? Sandra asked and I told her what happened yesterday.
“For your masters? Is it not like a dental programme after our un-dergrad? Sandra asked and I nodded.
“I’ve been thinking, where can I see this Kayode of a person? I also want to pee, Sandra said and I looked at her.
“What are you talking about? I asked her.
“Because it looks as if it blew fortune to your way, you mean to say soon you’ll be in UK for the dental programme and you don’t even know this Daniel of a guy, isn’t that a miracle? Sandra asked and I stood up pacing around.
“I had two prayers before, one I thought will be a miracle if granted. First was for my mother, I wanted her out from the be-d she la-id so we can go home together, and the other was my healing. I could not get the first, and my healing took so long also but then am beginning to feel its too much. I’m healed and my family is in peace, why is God still dumbfounding me with all this surprises? I asked.
“You call this surprises? You’re so unbelievable, Sandra said and I heaved. My father call came on phone immediately and I picked up,
“Hello daddy, good morning, I greeted.
“Morning Jess, is the Daniel of a guy still serious with what he said? Have you heard from him yet? He asked after I told him everything that night.
“I don’t have his details and I don’t want to make my pastor think that I am doubting him. What he said yesterday was he will lead me throu-ghevery process so I can get everything ready before my graduation, I replied.
“I’ve been thinking all night, though am happy for you but am also sad that I was not given a chance to take over your dental programme as I promised you, he said.
“Dad its okay, take this as a relief for you so you can concentrate on Amanda and Cyril, I said.
“Its alright but anything just let me know, let me also be pa-rt of the process okay, he said.
“Okay I will, my regards to everyone, I said.
“Yea take care, he said and dropped the call.
Two weeks later it dawned on me it was real when the pastor began processing some stuff for me after Daniel had to return back but promised to visit.
On the other hand at the organization of Amara, we began holding seminars here and there in campus. It started like a joke but it became so serious that we started having invitations just to have a word with my gender.
Of course I always talk on the topics Amara will give to me but I never hesitated somehow to throw in my story and it leaves the people in shock.
Jessica name was just everywhere in the li-ps of people, I know it was not my power all I did was acknowledge God in everything I do and was not ashamed to share how God delivered me from be-d we-tting.
Weeks turned into months and months turned a year and I will be done with my un-dergrad. My p@$$port and everything was just ready and Daniel was already warming up to take me with him.
Everything was happening so fast that sometimes I do sit and wonder how I got to where I am, all I know is that I didn’t start well but the end matters though which is looking beautiful.
When I saw my CGPA as the best graduating student in the depa-rtment of Dentistry having 4.88 I just wept. My pastor quickly se-nt the news over to Daniel but his wife picked up instead which we dropped the message with her. My principal and father came down to my place so they can see my pastor and know the way forward, during their discussion Daniel called back.
“Hello pastor, Daniel said.
“Yes Dan, I called earlier, my pastor said.
“Sorry I dropped my phone at home. Did she hit a good CGPA? He asked.
“Of course, she had the highest in her depa-rtment, my pastor replied.
“Oh this is great and its looking almost like a coincidence. The form to the school I have been eyeing will be out in a month time, this will give Jessica all the time to prepare and get her statement of result set, Daniel said.
“That won’t be a problem, the pastor said.
“Tell her I said congratulations and I now see why God got me restless, he said.
“I’ll tell her that, the pastor said and dropped the call and I could not stop smiling.
When I landed at the airport ready to travel with Daniel, my father was still very scared as he held my hand,
“Jessica I don’t know that to feel anymore and I don’t want to stop you either, but be careful okay, my father said and I nodded and my principal smiled at me,
“I’m feeling like a prophet now, am so excited you finally made it and just imagine how proud your mother will be right now, he said and I sniffed.
“I’ll miss you all so much and thank you for everything, I said hu-gging them and Sandra tearfully came to me,
“Don’t forget me, remember that I used to give you my rice in school, she said and I burst out laughing hu-gging her.
“He will do more for you my friend, I said cleaning her tears and waved them bye and I left with Daniel.
After 6 years I heard my step mother was sick and I decided to come down to Nigeria, I missed the cuisines and hot weather already and I wanted giving myself a short break from work. She was suffering from fibroid and was succesfully operated on then I decided to get some neccesary things she will nee-d from the market for her.
“Jessica! I heard my name from behind when I was rushing out of the market and I stopped. Behold it was Tunde looking so smart and good,
“Hey Tunde long time, I said with all smiles as he increa-sed his steps to meet me and held my hand after giving me a mild hu-g.
“Is this really you? Wow small world isn’t it? He asked.
“Actually this is my state and what are you doing here? I asked.
“My dad sister p@$$ed away and she’s married from here, he replied.
“Oh too bad, my condolences, I said to him.
“Its nothing, you’re looking good, he said still holding My hand.
“You too as always, I said and he cleared his throat.
“I must apologize for the childish way we went our separate ways, I’m really sorry, he said.
“Tunde its been years already, who is holding on to such grudge? I asked him.
“Still I have to ask for your forgiveness, for a loving person like you I shouldn’t have done that to you after all the kindness you showed to me, he replied and I smiled.
‘Its okay, you were already forgiven, I said.
“Thank you Jess, you still have your good heart, its written all over you and I missed us. I don’t know, can we see again so we can talk things out? He asked and I heaved.
“Tunde there’s nothing to talk about, you were right then when you said we were not on the same page and its fine by me, I replied.
“No please don’t say that, I was drunk then. Probably I got to see the life I have been dreaming of and mishandled it but I regret saying that to you, he said.
“Probably also your fotune then brou-ght out the real you but Tunde there’s no point of apologizing, besides didn’t you get a white lady like your brothers? I know you stayed so long in Dubai and you should have someone, I asked and he breathed out.
“Actually I did. I met this lady then just around your age in my neighborhood but I didn’t know she was a kind of property for the guys there. When I brou-ght her home my brothers quickly warned me about her but I didnt listen and it was not long I landed in a very big trouble with the guys and got lucky to escape. After some months I met another lady and we did a simple wedding which I regret so much I made that decision, he replied.
“Why what happened? I thought they were the ones with cl@$$? I asked very interested.
“You know how the whites behave….. Even if you’ve not traveled out yet but they have a different belief from us and does not put value to anything. They only care about themselves and I tried coping with her attitude but she got angry for no tangible reason, filed a case against me and took my daughter from me, he replied.
“Ouch too bad, that happens when you lead yourself with your own pride, I said.
“I know right and I want to make things right again. Jessica its childish standing on the road to talk can’t we meet up to talk about something important please? He asked.
“Mommy, my son called me before I could reply.
“Mommy? Tunde asked looking at me.
“I’m here my love, i said to my son and he came out from my car i parked very close to me and he held my hand.
“Mommy I lost the game again, he said.
“Is that so? I asked.
“and the battery is low, wish i can get a super battery, Miracle replied showing me the phone I left him with in the car so I hurriedly rush into the market and join him while he keeps himself busy.
“Super battery huh? Okay darling I’ll charge it up for you, go wait in the car for mommy alright, I said touching him and he left and I faced Tunde .
“Why do you look surprised? I asked him.
“You didnt tell me, he replied and I smiled.
“That’s because you did not care to look at my fin-ger, I said and he looked and saw a ring.
“I’m sorry, i thought this was no chance meeting, i thought this was a sign for us, he slowly said.
“For us? You’re right Tunde this is no chance meeting, and did you try to use your Dubai experience to mock me somehow? I had my dental programme in UK for your information so I have travelled, I found my man there who is a maxillofacial surgeon, and most importantly I am married to a man of the same page and cl@$$ I am, I said.
“How did this happen so fast? He asked.
“This just showed one thing that you never returned to the church after God answered you. I no longer be-d we-t if that is making you wonder how it happened, and Tunde thanks for the role you pla-yed in my life then, I didn’t have the opportunity to tell you that, I replied.
“You think I didn’t know? I didn’t just believe them when they told me, you surely did something to take you there so stop deceiving people and be careful so you won’t crash, he said pointing his fin-gerat me and I smi-rked.
“Just when I think you’ve changed Tunde you’re asking me to crash? I asked and he shook his head.
“Jessica….. Jessica…. I really don’t know what to say, how did it happen I keep asking myself that? I feel so confused right now, He replied almost in a whisper with a troubled face.
“Tunde don’t waste your time to ask how it happened because if you were to choose who should be favoured this way you won’t choose me because to you I don’t merit it. Why not concentrate on how to fix your life, I am very sure you know how you can do that. Return to your first love Tunde, go back to the pure love you once had that encouraged and built my faith, that love that was the source of your rising. I can’t believe you threw that away for riches you’re not 100% happy for, I said.
“Jessica please……. “I have to go now, I said and quickly left when he wanted holding my hand to beg.
As I drove my car I kept shaking my head and heaved,
“Hmmmm JESSICA! I said and breathed out very thankful that God didn’t let him find me in the same state he abandoned me.
