Chapter 33: THE LOVE YOU GIVE.

The morning was still dark, one could ba-rely see the ground. Avery woke up, staring around the dark room. She didn’t see Gideon anywhere. She only saw the mattress he had used to sleep.

She got down from the be-d, folding it in It’s normal form. The room was still well kept but she did a little bit of amendment to those p@rt of the room that nee-ded it.

After she was done, she left the room to her’s to get her tooth brush, hoping no one would see her, nor Madam Dacia standing at her door step.

After she had taken her brush, she left to the bathroom, where she had a quic-k brush and a shower too. After she was done, she sneakly left back to Gideon’s room. He was alre-ady there, his face looked concern and worried.

“ Good morning.” She greeted from the door.

“ Good morning.” He greeted back. “ how was your night?”

“I sle-pt well. What about you?” she asked.

“I sle-pt well too. Where were you? I was looking for you.”

“ I’m sorry, I went to take my bath. I didn’t see you when I woke up so, I thought you’d gone for duty. I’m sorry for keeping you worried.”

“ it’s okay, I un-derstand.”

“I’ll find something for you to eat. Just stay here and don’t let anyone know you’re in here, okay?” he instructed.

She nodded her head.

“ If anyone knocks, don’t open the door. Don’t even ask who it is, okay?”

She nodded again. “Okay.” She said.

“I’ll be back soon enough.”

He made his way to the door, when Avery’s voice st©pped him. “ Thank you.”

“ You don’t have to keep saying that all the time.” He waved a soft smile at her, before leaving the room.

She sat down on the be-d, the window has been closed since the previous day. If not for Gideon, I would have been dead. Oh, now I’m talking like the scared little girl I was years ago. And you know what? Gideon and Stella has given me so many reasons why I have to live.

It’s obvious how I hated him before but, now I don’t. He helped me in so many ways. To find out what Christiana and her friends were up. I should be grateful, right? She said to herself.

AVERY *

I hope Stella is alright now, I wish madam Dacia won’t have to punish her even before Christiana implicates her. I don’t know why I have this feeling that this won’t end up good. And it’s either Stella nor Gideon who is getting into trouble.

Not quite long, Gideon entered the room with a plate of fruit in his hands. “I brou-ght you something to eat as promised.” He said dropping it on the be-d beside me.

“ Thank you.” I said taking one of the r!pp£dorange. “Mmm… this tastes sweet.” I hummed. “Here,” I stretched a pile of banana to him, “have it.”

He refused. “I had breakfast few minutes ago with my colleagues. You eat ahead.”

“Are you sure?”

He nodded. “Did anyone knocked on the door?” he asked me.

I shook my head while some p@rticles of the orange were still in my mouth. “No one.” I said. “Are you expecting someone?” I asked.

“No.” he said after a brief silence.

Then a knock was heard. “I thought you said you weren’t expecting a visitor.” I whispered.

“I wasn’t.” he whispered back. He looked around as if he was searching for something… or somewhere. “Come.” He said to me, holding my hand as he pu-ll-ed me towards the closet.

“Where are you taking me to?” I asked.

“Shh-shh. We don’t know who it is, just do as I say.”

He opened his clost. “Go inside.” The knock was heard again, he looked at the door for a while then at me. “Just do it.”

“I don’t want to enter inside the closet, I hate the dark.” I refused.

“Avery, plea-se just do as I say. This won’t take too long, I promise.” He as-sured her.

I finally entered into the wardrobe while he closed it. I held the remaining orange in my hand but didn’t eat it. Maybe having a bite will end up getting both Gideon and I expo-sed. I tried paying attention at the conversation but, I couldn’t hear any thing they were saying.

When the door shut close, I still hide in the closet until he c@m£ to open it. “Who is that?” was the first question I ask.

“It’s my colleague. I have to go.”

“So soon?” I didn’t know when the word escape myl-ips. “Never mind.”

He nodded off.

STELLA*

“ I’m going to ask you for the last time, Stella, Where is Avery?” Madam Dacia threatened.

“I alre-ady told you, ma’am, I don’t know where she is. I have searched all over the mansion, I’ve asked most of the guards for her but no one has seen her.”

“And why should I believe your pathetic lies?”

I didn’t say a word. This woman has never let me be since the night Avery left her room. And honestly, I don’t know where she is. I only asked her to run, wherever she had hidden is something I do not wish to know. At least not now.

If Madam Dacia thinks I have to be so loyal and sincere to her all the time, then she is thinking wrong. But…. If what I am thinking is right, then it means Avery is probably going to be in one place… Gideon’s room.

I hope no one gets to find out about this. I hope Avery pla-ys so nice to him. You know what I mean, don’t you? She hates him so much, and I will not be so surprised if they have to quarrel almost five times in a day.

“Stella, why do you choose to lie to me? What has she done to you that I haven’t? She is pathetic and insane and useless and…”

I cut her short, “Avery has done nothing to me, my lady. I will never lie to you after everything you’ve been doing for me. Why will I all of a sudden forget such good things you’ve done for me and repay you with evil?”

“Well, I was being so curious on your relationsh!pwith her, so I thought you might be aware of her disappearance.”

“I don’t know anything about her disappearance, I swear.”

“It’s enough. I dint suspect you anymore.” Really? Just like that? “I better act like it dint change a thing in me. “ You may leave.”

Shutting the door behind me, I exhaled heavily. She was going to do whatever it takes to have the words out of my mouth, but that’s never gonna happen. I won’t betray Avery’s trust all because of I fear her. Very soon, just very soon, all this $h!t will have to end for damn good.

Madam Dacia walked into his room, from the inside he asked, “Miss Dennison?” he called.

“No, it is I, Dacia.” She answered.

“Oh, I wasn’t expecting to see you here today. Have you find the girl yet?” he asked.

“Not yet, but we are still searching. She’s probably somewhere in the mansion but don’t worry my love, we will find her soon enough.”

“Better. I can’t keep starving myself all day. Do whatever it takes to get her back.”

“What if we don’t find her, we still have other maids for you to feed on.” She said, a hint of jealousy sounded in her voice.

“Dacia.” He said, walking closer to her. “That girl isn’t anyway tasty as you are. If I have to drink from you the same way I drink from her, I fear you will survive it.”

“But she survives hers, that she is even able to run away. Or, is there anyway your blood mixes with hers that makes her have the guts to do what she did?” She questioned.

“If my blood were to be in hers, first, she wouldn’t have survived it and second, even if she does survive it, she would have been just like I am. So, don’t worry about her, no one is taking your place in my heart.

“Promise?”

He pe-cked her. “ I promise.”

* * * *

So… now you can see, The Master is in his room. There is definitely nothing connected between Gideon and The Master.

Chapter 34: GIDEON’S FEELING.

AVERY*

It’s been two days I’ve been in Gideon’s room, and I haven’t seen the broad day light. Not even taken my bath yet and I smell just like a pig dung.

According to him, he said the entire mansion is been secured by the guards and there was no way out or in for me. This whole thing is just displa-ying like a movie to me, as if I was a chased criminal or something.

Every morning I wake up from sleep, I find myself laying on his be-d. I have never gotten on his be-d in my own free will but how I ended up there, is some thing I still don’t know. Or, is he the one who always put me there?

I dressed up the be-d I la-id, quietly sweeping the floor to avoid causing noise with it. There was a little knock on the door, I hesitated to open the door until I heard the whisper of his voice. “Avery, it’s me, Gideon.”

“Oh, Gideon.” I quic-kly opened the door for him to enter. “What took you so long?” I asked.

“I went to see Stella.” He answered.

“Stella?” I wi-de-ned my eyes in happiness. “How is she?” I asked.

“She is fine. She s£nds her greetings to you.”

I sigh in relief. “Oh, thank goodness.”

“She said I should give you this.” He handed over the cloth he was holding.

“There are guards everywhere, how can I take my bath?”

“Don’t worry about it. There are no guards at the bathroom. I’ll esc-rt you there while you take your bath while the weather is still dark.”

I nodded my head.

“Come on.”

We left to the toilet. The whole lights were out. “it’s dark here, what if there are guards on watch?” I whispered.

“Don’t be scared, there is no one in there.” He replied back in a whisper.

I folded the new cloth Stella had brou-ght for me while I went into one of the bathroom. I turned on the shower letting the cold water fall on my skin. I can’t believe I haven’t had a cool bath for two days now and it’s all because I am hiding from Madam Dacia’s threat.

I applied the bar of soap on my skin, softly mas-saging it all over my b©dy. And on my hair, I ran my hands at every corner of it, rinsing it with the water that poured on my b©dy.

I heard the sound of footstep. I immediately turned the shower off to listen. I kept hearing it as it c@m£ closer to the p@rticular bathroom I was.

I ru-bbe-d off the droplets of water on my face, gently shifting the curtain aside.

“Gideon?” I whispered. “Gideon, is that you?” I called again.

But I didn’t get any response. “Gid…” I almost said the word when someone barged into the same bathroom I stayed, quic-kly shifting the curtain close.

He covered my mouth with his hand, pu-lling me close to his b©dy. I was p@n-ting heavily for so many reasons.

First, the way this figure entered, got my heart flying to my throat. Second, I was still stake n-ked and not just that… his other hand was on my brea-sts.

I started hearing voices with t©uçh lights. “I thought I heard the sound of water splashing.” One of them said.

“It’s probably one of the guards. No one is here.” Another concluded. “Come on let’s go.”

They all left the bathroom, and every where was back to its total darkness. I tapped the hand he had used to hold my brea-st, “Sorry,” he apologized taking it off.

“Who are they?” I asked the figure who turns out to be Gideon.

“They are among the watch guards. They are mostly the strict one’s Madam Dacia hired for cases like this. If they had found out that you are here, they’d have the both of us reported.”

“But you said no one was going to come here.”

“I did, but the sound of the shower brou-ght them here. Are you done bathing?” he asked.

“Yes but still nee-d to get dressed first. Turn around.”

Thankfully it’s dark, so he won’t be able to see my n-kedness. I rushed as I pu-ll-ed myself into the long go-wn, Zi-pping the Zi-pper with immediate effect. “I’m done.” I notified.

“Let’s get out of here.” We ti-p toed out of the bathroom back to his room. My hair still looked messy, and the left over droplets from my hair stained a p@rt of the go-wn.

We didn’t say anything to each other. We were quiet like couples who just had an argument. What happened back at the bathroom, that was almost close.

Damn risky and not only I, but Gideon would have gotten into trouble.

He t©uçhed my brea-st? This p@rt of the event was something that my mind can’t easily get over with.

And even till now, I still felt like his hands were still on me. Crazy thinkings has started to cloud my mind, imaginations I wish not to have in my head.

And I was like, what if it was broad day, he would see my pride and maybe…

Just maybe… something no one ever wishes for might end up happening.

“Avery…” he paused. “I’m sorry about earlier. I mean, what happened in the bathroom.”

Was he thinking what I was thinking?

“it’s nothing. You didn’t do that intentionally, I un-derstand.”

“Thank you.”

“So,” I said, changing the t©pic. “Aren’t you gonna get yourself in trouble if they find out your’e still in your room?”

“It isn’t day yet, no one will know.”

I rose my eyes at him. “Seriously?”

“Just kidding. I’m off now. Remember, don’t open the door for anyone.” He reminded.

“You don’t have to keep reminding me of that over and over and over again.”

“I’m only trying to protect you, Avery. I don’t know why, but I feel like your safety won’t be for long.”

The fear which had long gone disappeared from me c@m£ again. And it was like the earth had come to an end for me.

I took a de-ep breath, maybe I didn’t hear what he had said correctly or maybe, my br@in was too fast to interprete what he had just said.

“I knew it. Gideon, if this is what your instincts tells you, then you have to let me go. You might end up getting into trouble too.”

“Avery, I don’t care whatever it is The Mistress will do to me, as far as you are alive, I am happy. If she has to kill you, then she kills me too.” He said, walking closer to me.

“Gideon…”

“I’m not complaining, Avery, it’s my choice.”

He placed a hand on my cheek, ru-bbing it dearly. I wanted to take it off, but I couldn’t. I could feel it, the feeling was mutual.

It was as if every move he made on my face, eased the fear in me. For the first time since my twenty one years, I was growing this new feeling in me, one I can’t really explain.

I was beginning to see more reasons why I have to trust him. Even though I know my time is almost near, I won’t have to regret these few times I have spent with him and yet to spend with him. “Avery…”

“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.” I as-sured him, but de-ep inside me, I was so scared. It was easier to say the word ‘Death’ but not so easy to accept it.

He moves his head at both sides, “It’s not that simple, Avery. She’s gonna take you and he…” he paused, “he’s gonna drink from you until you are dead. Avery, I don’t want you to go. I don’t want to loose you, cause I don’t think I am re-ady to.”

I stared at him speechless, since we knew each other, he has never sounded this serious before. And not to talk about his feelings, he never showed he actually have a heart for love until now.

“Gideon…”

“plea-se… just listen to me. You definitely don’t know how long I have always wanted to tell you this. But… I was so scared if you’d listen to me. Even if you don’t, I don’t wanna die with it all to myself. Every night when I watch you sleep, I always wish I can have you. I always wish I can watch you sleep for the rest of my life, and I won’t have to mind about anything or anyone.

But when I remember how much you hate me, I lose hope to have you. And with all this happening, I feel scared I’d have to loose you even before I can ever admit my feelings to you. Avery, I love you so much. I have always loved you with my whole life.”

I could feel the tears as they rolled out of my eyes. I’ve never thought I’d love and be loved. Not in this life without freedom, and especially not in this mansion.
