Episode 38

I was getting taken away
And you were just standing there,
watching the unfolding of a pla-y.
………………………………………………
Have you ever felt betrayed?
That feeling when you gave your everything to a person and that person just turns their back on you like you don’t even matter to them.
Well, Elle had experienced it since childhood.
She loved her family to only know of their selfish reasons later.
So what do you do next?
Do you learn and st©p loving others?
Sadly the answer is no.
You still love, you still remain selfless.
No matter how much you scold yourself not to be so soft in this cruel world.
No matter how many times you cry
But still, you forgive.
Not because you can’t stand for yourself,
But because that’s who you are.
That selfless, loving, bubbly person is you,
Who will smile and give despite the fact that this world takes everything from you?
Elle stood there in front of him, her eyes staring at him with betrayal.
Her arms thrashing in the arms of her captors.
“Ash….Save me… plea-se!”
Her cries were falling on deaf ears as he just stood there doing nothing.
The person supposed to protect her was standing there with a coldness that numbe-d her very heart.
His eyes were watching her struggles but neither a word nor a step was taken for her protec-tion.
Just a few minutes ago,
the arms which were wra-pped around her in safety were now placed still at his side.
Thel-ips which have pressed thousands of countless k!sses on her were sealed in a thin line of indifference.
The captor dragged her back but her feet were engraved in the ground, refusing to leave.
She was crying hysterically and each cry of pain soon ended as a call for desperation.
“Ashton!! Ple-”
Her words got muffled as a strong hand was placed on her mouth, blocking her cries.
The captor held her arms ti-ghtly behind her back and pu-ll-ed her with full f0rç£.
The innocent soul was entra-pped in a death grip with no one to help her.
Tears were dripping down to t©uçh her captor’s hands.
Her eyes were only fixed on those oceans of coldness.
Trying to decipher even one emotion on his face.
But sadly it was blank.
Those eyes looked like they didn’t recognize her.
And this was alone enough to make her go numb to everything.
The bruises forming on her wrists didn’t hurt.
But the indifference in his eyes did.
Soon she was dragged out of the room and down the hall.
Her b©dy moving without protest.
She had surrendered
His betrayal has made her surrender.
Before she could un-derstand much, a black cloth was placed on her eyes.
ma-king her blind to events of the night.
…………………………………………….
She woke up to darkness,
Her eyes were open but she could see only black.
Coldness un-derneath her, made a shiver run down her spine.
The few things she un-derstood were that she was sitting on a cold floor, her feet were bound together just like her hands behind her back.
Her cries were silenced by something pressed ti-ghtly on herl-ips, which she as-sumed to be duct tape.
It was scary
The tears were not something she could control.
They flowed like a waterfall drenching the cloth covering her eyes.
But still, throu-gh all of this, those dark eyes of his were the only thing her br@in showed her.
The scene of him standing there doing nothing broke every ounce of hope in her.
Her chain of thoughts was broken when a jingling sound was heard followed by the opening of a door.
“Did you give her the dose?”
“Ehh.. no Sir..we were waiting for ma’am order.”
There were a few minutes of silence.
Her b©dy shivered on hearing what they were thinking of doing to her.
Dose? Were they giving her any drugs?
The very thought made her struggle in her bounds.
She will die before taking any drugs.
“Give her the second dose…she is gaining consciousness”
A heavy voice spoke with authority, ma-king her shiver.
Her insides screamed in anxiety.
What are they doing?
What are they injecting?
Before she could un-derstand much a cold gel was dubbe-d at her arm and strong hands held her elbow.
A slight pierce was felt and it was gone as soon as it c@m£.
The grip on her arm loos£ned and unable to balance herself, her b©dy fell on the concrete floor sideways.
With face now pressed on the cold concrete, she found her breathing becoming heavy.
A few minutes later, the duct tape was harshly pu-ll-ed away from herl-ips ma-king her cry in pain.
But surprisingly no sound left herl-ips.
It was like she wanted to speak, to scream but sadly only silence was what she heard.
Unable to un-derstand what was happening to her, her heart started thumping in her che-st.
Her child…this can harm her angel.
No this cannot happen!
Ashton will never let any harm come to her baby.
He can’t be that inhuman.
Why didn’t he st©p them? Why ??
Her thoughts were slowly fading away as her head started feeling heavy.
Her b©dy started sweating profusely.
She could feel her loose t-shi-t getting drenched in her own sweat.
To make it worse, the cold concrete un-derneath gave her chills.
She found her teeth clenching without her even controlling it.
It was like each and every muscle of her b©dy was cramping.
Just like a person feels after running a marathon.
Explaining what she felt was next to impossible.
As even she herself couldn’t un-derstand it.
The only thing she could make out was that there was no escape from this.
How she wished to go to sleep right now, but sadly she had to suffer throu-gh it p@rtially awake in this state of haze.
The turmoil continued for hours.
Her bound hands and legs were now re-leased.
But what good they were when she couldn’t move them even if she wished to.
She could hear the conversation going around her but sadly only a few words were interpreted by her.
“Yes ma’am we have………no only the first doze…..yes un-derstood…….yes she is p@rtially…….okay ma’am”
She couldn’t concentrate much on it, except her mind was somewhere else.
It felt like something was crawling on her, she could feel something tou-ching her.
Was it her hallucinations or no, she couldn’t distinguish.
She felt like scratching her skin.
But what could she do when her b©dy refused to move.
She focussed on moving her arm but sadly only a f!nger moved.
Laying down back in defeat, she just wondered one thing.
What the hell have they injected me with!!
Even death was better than this.
But sadly there was no death, only mind-numbing and teeth clenching torture.
……………………………………………
She stood there in her high heels and long coat.
Her eyes fixed on the shivering girl laying in the corner of the basement.
Moving her gaze to the man standing on her side, she questioned.
“Did I order you to give it to her?”
The anger in her voice made the person to shrink in fear.
“She….she was not responding with the first….So I doubled it-…..I… thought-”
“You thought?”
Her question made him put down his head.
“I am sor-”
Before he could complete his s£ntence, a thumping sound was heard.
His b©dy landed on the ground in a pool of blood.
She tucked back her silencer laden pistol in her Jean and ordered one of the men to clean the mess.
Stepping over the dead man’s b©dy, her shining heels made way towards the girl
Her eyes scrutinised her every action while the girl could see nothing throu-gh the blindfold.
She crouched down at her level and her
f!nger trailed the girls arm slowly, ma-king the girl freeze all of a sudden.
Veronica smiled at this.
“Ma’am, should we proceed?”
Veronica nodded at the person, standing up from her earlier position.
“Tactile s-en-sitivity is one of its effects, it’s working….good let’s begin”
Before Elle’s slow s-en-ses could un-derstand much, her b©dy was lifted in the air.
A few seconds later, she found herself being landed on something ha-rd
It felt like a wooden chair as her legs were getting tied to the legs of it.
Her breathing was becoming heavy with every t©uçh she felt on her skin,
To make it worse, it felt like she was surrounded by snow as the room temperature was freezing cold.
Her teeth starter cluttering and her hands started shaking.
“Get me the papers, also re-move that ”
She heard and next she knows the blindfold was re-moved from her eyes.
ma-king her shut her eyes all of a sudden.
Her hazy vision landed on the lady she shared her blood with.
Veronica’s eyes were fixed on the papers in her hands, aware of the girl’s disoriented gaze on her.
“It was necessary… don’t worry it will go away in a few hours”
Elle couldn’t un-derstand much, her eyes still trying to figure out where she was.
Veronica realised this and she cursed un-der her breath
“Why that moron had to Fu*** double it when I ordered a single”
Sighing she turned the folder to its last page and handed the pen in her shaking hands.
Elle flin-ched when her hand c@m£ in contact with hers.
“Sign this and you can go”
Elle stared at the papers in front of her and then at her hands.
She could make out only a few things written on it.
…hereby…….will of Elle Knight……… grandfather…….power of attorney…….trust……charity…..
“There are two alternatives Elle, I either kill you and make this contract void or simply you sign this will and transfer the power of attorney in my name.
We show the world that you die in an accident while you enjoy your remaining life with a new identity”
The poor soul couldn’t un-derstand much, her b©dy was shaking uncontrollably and Veronica cursed seeing this.
gr-abbing her head in frustration, she ordered her men.
“Go and get some freezing water in a bucket!”
A minute later a man c@m£ forward holding a bucket in his hands.
Veronica ordered a person with a mere stare and next Elle knows freezing water was thrown at her face.
Her b©dy convulsed in shock as her breathing st©pped for a second.
It felt like awakening from a bad dream to be only thrown into another.
Her eyes now clearly saw who sat in front of her with a bored expression on her face.
“I…. won’t…….I….”
Elle spoke up for the worst the ma-king Veronica to stand up from her seat.
gr-abbing her jaw in between her f!ngers, she stated dead into her eyes.
“St©p testing my patience, you stupid girl! Sign or die!! I don’t give a Fu**!”
Elle now a little bit back in her s-en-ses stared back into those angry pools with equal intensity.
“I prefer death over what I am feeling right now!! No innocent should feel what…I…am feeling!”
Veronica sm-irked leaving her chin harshly.
Her f!nger marks evident on her jaw.
“I see you don’t like this drug, will you like another one.
A stronger dose perhaps?”
Elle couldn’t take it anymore.
The piercing nee-dles, helpless state, hallucinations, chills were all too much to handle.
“I…..no…..you…”
She was too confused to utter a s£ntence.
The very safety of her Angel made her seal herl-ips.
If she saved herself and her Angel, many other innocents die.
But if she dies, still they all will die.
A Dilemma that was wrong with either choice she made.
Her silence made Veronica lean down closer to her.
“No one will come to save you, Elle, your so-called ex-husband sold you to me.
I filled his pockets with bucks and here you are, lying at my mercy.”
Her glossy eyes met her devilish ones.
They were showing victory in contrast to her helpless ones.
“Ashton is a selfish man Elle, I told you he is only after your money
.
Now that he sold you…do you believe me
She couldn’t decide, her silence filling the basement.
“Sign this, leave this town and enjoy your life.
Such a nice offer I give you.”
Now that she has seen what this thing does to a person, how strongly it controls a person.
How can she sign it?
“I ….. won’t….”
Veronica’s eyes burned in fury at her adamancy.
Moving back from her she picked up her bag, re-ady to leave.
“You will regret this! Bye my dear, hope to never see you again”
She st©pped near the doors, to take a final look at the girl.
Their eyes met and she spoke
“24 years back that boy Ashton managed to save you or else it would have been much easier if you would have died with your mother.
Anyways let’s finish the unfinished business now.”
“Kill her”
She spoke and left ma-king the big doors of the basement to close on her.
She couldn’t digest the information.
She was saved by Ashton?
Veronica has murdered her mother?
Her numb s-en-ses were returning to normal.
But what good it was when she was going to die only.
Instead, the numbness would have evaded the pain, but now she will have to feel it all.
Her hands moved to her stomach and a sob left herl-ips.
“I am sorry my angel….mama is really sorry….”
She was harshly dragged by someone but she didn’t protest.
Accepting her fate she followed the men to a dungeon-like thing with chains hanging on the walls.
The smell of the place made her vomit, but no one st©pped for her.
Dragging her along to a secluded corner she was taken inside a small room.
A cold metal thing was tied to her wrists and that was when she looked up.
The person was hvge with tattooed arms bulging out of his shi-t.
His face was emotionless like he was used to all this killing.
“plea-se…I.. am pregnant…you… can’t kill …me”
His hands st©pped for a second, eyes moving onto her baby bu-mp for confirmation.
“Shut up bi**! ”
His harsh tone made her innocent eyes go wi-de.
Were these people not human?
How can they kill an unborn child?
“No…you don’t un-der-”
She couldn’t complete her s£ntence as a cloth was placed on her mouth.
Her wrists wriggled in the cold chains which were nailed in the walls.
Her pleading eyes were seeing what was happening in front of her.
It looked like a heated argument among the 3 men pres£nt in the room.
The tattooed man kept looking at her in-between the argument.
It was in Italian she guessed but sadly she couldn’t un-derstand a word.
After 10 long minutes, they finally decided on something.
All men left the room with irritated faces as another man c@m£ in with something placed on a tray.
No…not again she begged as she saw nee-dles and syringes on the tray.
The tattooed man stepped closer to her and her heartbeat increa-sed.
His face was stone like, not showing any emotion.
She saw his hand moving towards her th!gh and she started thrashing.
As soon as his f!ngersmade contact with her skin, she started kicking her legs like a mad man.
A heavyweight on her w@!st and a strong grip on her knee made her helpless.
But soon her struggles died down as he spoke his next words.
“Stay still…it’s an intramuscular injection to reduce the effect of the earlier drug.
I am not going to kill you!”
She cried in relief at his words.
“I am giving it in your th!ghs as it is less painful here”
Before he even completed his s£ntence, she felt it.
The cold wind hit her th!ghs and the piercing nee-dle getting injected.
He, at last, looked into her teary eyes.
She wanted to ask so much but she couldn’t, herl-ips were sealed just like her interiors.
Veronica ordered them to kill her, then what were they waiting for?
Confused she welcomed the effect of the injection as her head started getting heavy again.
She closed her eyes, wondering where life had brou-ght her in a few hours.
Hours ago she was laying in the arms of her lover, feeling the most secure person in this world.
And here she was a few hours later.
Chained and taped in a basement waiting for the final call for her death.
