“I suggest we kidnap and torture her to death” Joanna suggested
“Great plan, I’ll arrange some men to kidnap her on her way to the hospital for the test” Keith said
“That’s totally impossible cause Regan won’t let her out of his sight and I know Regan when he’s protective of something” Joanna objected
“Then what do we do? Cause once she comes into the mansion dad would ti-ght£ñ her security like a jar of gold” Keith said
“when is the test tomorrow scheduled?” Joanna asked
“by 9am”
“you’ll call Regan tomorrow before then and pretend to be in danger. Regan might not like you but he has a soft sp©t in him when it comes to people he cares about. Keep him distracted while I take Jennifer out and the guys you’ll arrange will kidnap her” Joanna said
“then we won’t be suspected” Keith added
“now you get it”
“do you live with Regan?” Keith asked
“am his sister” Joanna lied
Keith raised her brows suspiciously “okay”

“I hope Tyson doesn’t let this one go”
James turned on the ignition and drove off. They got to the mansion and headed for Regan’s room. They knocked on the door but there was no reply then Alex proceeded to try the knob and the door creaked open.
They stepped in and froze in shock. Jennifer was cu-mddled up in Tyson’s arms un-der the sheets and they were both asleep.
“Has this been going on here?” Alex asked in disbelief
“They are so in love but Tyson won’t agree” James said
“I can’t belie…”
Tyson fluttered his eyes open and glared at the two.
“what are you both doing here?” he asked sternly
“we knocked… We really did but there was no reply so we had to come in” Alex replied
“but if we had known we would be intruding we wouldn’t had come in” James said tea-singly
Regan frowned then gently re-moved his hand from Jennifer’s head and got up. He wore a sweatp@n-ts t©pless so he reached for his sweatshi-t on the hanger.
“Nice abs” James complimented tea-singly then Alex nudged him with his elbow trying to hide his laughter
“Jennifer has been keeping you fit” James added and Tyson sh0t him a glare
“She dare not hear you” Tyson said pu-lling the sweatshi-t down his head “Let’s go”
They walked into Alex’s room and sat on his be-d
“What’s going on between you and Jennifer?” James asked “It’s not all about the revenge is it?”
“That’s not why you c@m£ is it?” Tyson asked back
“No it isn’t” James replied “But you shouldn’t let her fall to de-ep if you don’t love her, she doesn’t deserve it”
“Thanks” Tyson said sarcastically “Why did you call me out?”
“It’s about Joanna”
“What about Joanna?”
James pla-yed the record of Joanna and Keith’s Conversation on his phone. He had placed it on record when they were discussing.
“I was expecting them to team up. Joanna is so gone” Tyson snarled
“Cool! I get to pu-ll a trigger into her br@in” James said and Alex’s smile faded. No matter what, he still had a soft sp©t for her.
“Not now James” Tyson protested “I have a plan”
THE NEXT MORNING ⛅
Tyson woke up early the next morning but couldn’t find Jennifer beside him. He got alarmed
“Jennifer!” he called getting up from the be-d
“Jennifer!”
“What’s wrong Regan? Did you have a nightmare?” Jennifer asked coming out of the bathroom
Regan held his che-st and let out his breath in relief “Am fine”
“You look tensed” Jennifer said and sat beside him on the be-d
“Am fine”
They sat in silence as they stared at each other
“I’ll go freshen up” Tyson said and walked into the bathroom while Jennifer shut her eyes and fell on the be-d.
Tyson’s phone rang and Jennifer picked it up.
“Keith!” she rolled her eyes and shoved the phone un-der a pillow
“Your girlfriend called” Jennifer told Tyson when he walked out of the bathroom. He was wearing a dressing go-wn.
Tyson smiled secretly
“Give me the phone” he said and sat on an armchair.
Jennifer took the phone from un-der the pillow and walked up to him
“here” she proffered him with the phone
Tyson gazed from her to the phone then gr@bb£d her hand and yanked her forward so she fell on his b©dy
“Regan!” Jennifer hit his che-st and tried getting up but Tyson held her ti-ght
“St©p struggling so you don’t give me funny feelings else you’re going to regret it” Tyson said and she froze.
He chuckled at her nervousness then wra-pped his left hand around her w@!st and balanced her properly on his l@ps then took his phone with his right hand while his left hand was still around her w@!st.
“Hello” he said into the phone
“Regan I really nee-d you now” Keith sobbe-d from the other end
“what’s wrong?”
“dad is having a heart attack am so scared”
“am on my way” Regan chuckled and ended the call
“Suppose she comes in and see us like this?” Jennifer asked
“I don’t care, do you?”
“Of course I care” Jennifer said half yelling “Regan you have to st©p all these, it’s….” she trailed off
“It’s what?”
“It’s not right”
“We aren’t doing anything that is wrong”
“The other day you k!$$£d me and it’s wrong now….”
She heaved a de-ep sigh “St©p pla-ying with my feelings”
Tyson felt guilt cloud him and his grip around her loos£ned
“You have a girlfriend” she added
“am going to break up with her”
“Why?”
“I don’t like her” Tyson replied with a shrug
“am sorry if am hurting you”
Jennifer got up and faced him “st©p acting like you see me as a woman or something I know you don’t like me and it’s unfair acting like you do” she said and left the room
Is it really unfair? Tyson thought
How was he going to carry out his revenge when he can’t even bear to see her get hurt.
Tyson got dressed and drove off to Lugard’s house. He didn’t get to see Jennifer before he left cause she was avoiding him.
Jennifer remained in the kitchen till Tyson left then she went into the room they shared. She shut the door behind her and tilted her head back to t©uçh the door then she shut her eyes.
She felt a rush of emotions run down her spine as she remembered the day she and Tyson had k!$$£d. She couldn’t deny that she loved him no matter how ha-rd she tried to hide it. She remembered what happened earlier and she wished she was his, she wouldn’t had let him go see Keith. She was so jealous.
She opened her eyes, she had less than two hours to get re-ady and go to the hospital for the test. Tyson had left and she didn’t know the hospital. Alex and James weren’t even around to take her there.
She walked to the be-d and that was when she noticed the red flowers on the be-d. The be-d sheets which were blue were now changed to white and the scattered petals of rose flowers spelt ‘Am sorry’. She smiled and fell on the be-d.
I wish he were mine. She said to herself as she sniffed the flowers. They all smelt nice. How did he get these done? She wondered
She packed the petals to a corner of the be-d and carefully wrote ‘Me too’ with them and drew a heart with it.
“Is that for Regan?” Joanna asked in disgust as she walked in
“yes” Jennifer replied
“We had a fight earlier”
Joanna smiled pretentiously “It’s nice”
“Thanks”
“Aren’t you getting re-ady to go to the hospital?”
“Regan went to see his girlfriend and I don’t know the hospital”
“I’ll take you there” Joanna offered
“Thanks”
“you don’t have to thank me” Joanna said and walked out
Jennifer took her bathe and got dressed. When she was done, she packed her hair in a bunch. She always wondered why she had long hair and it was becoming clear to her but somehow, she wished the result proved negative.
She didn’t want to be Kaylan because of her foster family and Tyson didn’t want it either.
“Are you re-ady?” Joanna asked when Jennifer was out
“yes”
They walked outside and entered Joanna’s car

Joanna drove out and the gate locked automatically. Alex and James who hid their car in a corner trailed behind them.
“Tyson could had just let us waste Joanna instead of tracking her. She deserves to die” James said without looking at Alex who sat quietly in the pas-s£nger seat
“Alex” he called
“sup?” Alex faked a smile
“I know you’re not happy but what I can’t un-derstand is why you can’t let her out of your head”
“You haven’t been in love James” Alex said
“and that’s why I won’t love su-cks”
Joanna turned left instead of driving straight to the hospital and James followed
“This way leads to a dead end” Alex said
“I wouldn’t want to fight with the guys they arranged” Jamessage said then added “Tyson could had just let us handle her at home”
“He fears she’ll deny it so he wants to get her in the act” Alex said
Joanna st©pped in the dead end and Jennifer stared at her in confusion.
“where are we?”
“Shut up! bit-ch!” Joanna cussed and got down. She walked to the pas-s£nger seat and dragged Jennifer out by her hair
“Three people are going to kill Joanna for this” James said. They didn’t get down from the car
“Lugard, Lucas and Tyson” Alex counted
“What are you doing?” Jennifer asked trying to free herself from Joanna’s grip
“Quiet!” Joanna bellowed and placed a call to Keith
“where are the men?”
“I think I killed them” Tyson replied instead and the phone fell from Joanna’s hand. Tyson sm-irked and walked out with Keith’s phone
“You got to be smart when dealing with me I thought you learnt that from the years” Tyson sneered “Now let her go”
Joanna quic-kly obeyed and re-leased Jennifer
“Let me explain”
“There’s nothing there to explain” Tyson seethed “I’ve always seen you as a sister but you betrayed me when you gave The Spidax information about me yet I forgave you and now you went ahead to plan this”
“Am sorry”
“I won’t kill you cause of past memories and cause of Alex. You’re too blind to see that he loves you”
“Give me one last chance”
“Don’t ever return to the mansion and don’t ever think of doing anything silly cause I’ve got my eyes on you” Tyson said and took Jennifer’s hand then they walked off leaving Joanna behind
“You didn’t mention this p@rt of the plan to us” James said to Tyson when he got to the car
“That’s why am TY” Tyson whispered to James
“we’ll head to the hospital now” Tyson added then walked off with Jennifer
“You go ahead” Alex told James then walked up to Joanna
“He never listens” James sighed then entered his car and drove off
“Sorry I c@m£ late” Tyson apologised to Jennifer on their way to the car. Once inside, they locked their doors and fastened their seatbelts. As Tyson put the car on gear, he gave Jennifer a glance of grim un-derstanding and she smiled in return.
AT THE HOSPITAL

ONE HOUR LATER

“The result will be out in 24 hours” Doctor Alex said as they walked out of the hospital
“Did it hurt?” Tyson asked Jennifer in a whisper
she chuckled “no”
Keith glared at them and looked away. They got to the parking lot and Jennifer was surprised to see her foster family.
“Doris! Daniel!” she held then in a ti-ght hvg
“sister Jennifer we missed you” Daniel drawled
“I missed you too”
“mummy” Jennifer hvgged her mum “Goodmorning”
“How you?”
“am fine”
“daddy” she hvgged her dad “Goodmorning”
Lugard frowned, Jennifer wasn’t treating him like her biological father.
“I’ll drive with you” Keith said to Tyson and Jennifer turned to look at them
“Am with Jennifer” Tyson replied with his eyes on Jennifer
Keith scoffed “We’ll all drive together”
“sister Jennifer come join us we really missed you” Daniel said dragging Jennifer to the car with them.
Jennifer followed them into the car and sat at the backseat with Doris, Daniel, and her mum. While her dad sat at the pas-s£nger seat.
“Don’t you think you should drive with your dad?” Albert asked Jennifer and she glanced at Lugard who entered his car in disappointed.
“I’ll meet you guys at the mansion” Jennifer said to the disappointment of her siblings and got down.
She walked to Lugard’s car and the door was held open for her by and guard. She bowed nervously and entered.
“You should be ri-ding with them” Lugard said
“It’s okay” Jennifer replied and glanced at Tyson’s throu-gh the wind mirror. He was arguing with Keith in the car. Yet again, she was jealous that Keith would be driving with him.
They got to Lugard’s mansion and parked in the garage. The door was held for Jennifer as she got down. Keith stormed in first then Lugard walked in with his guards following him. Jennifer’s foster family followed and Jennifer proceeded to join them when Tyson held her back.
“I won’t be staying” he said
“You’re leaving?”
“Yes, will you return?”
she thought for a while then asked “why are you leaving?”
Tyson tilted his head forward to Lucas’ car “he’s here”
“Are you avoiding Lucas?”
“Not really I just don’t want to see him”
“I’ll call you when am done”
“What if your family insists you stay?” Tyson demanded
“I won’t”
“Better don’t and if you do, keep your window open”
Jennifer chuckled “Are you going to come in throu-gh the window?”
“You’ll see” he win-ked then entered his car
“Hope your girlfriend won’t kill me”
Tyson frowned “we broke up” then he reversed his car and drove off without waiting for her reply. He didn’t want to answer her questions. Jennifer smiled as she watched him drive out.
“You’re smiling at a guy” Doris said tickling Jennifer from behind
“Doris!”
“Who’s he?”
“His name is Regan”
“I can’t believe we aren’t really sisters” Doris said grimly
“It’s sooooooo unbelievable”
“There’s a cute guy inside” Doris said with a wi-nk
“Who’s he?”
“He said his name is Lucas and he’s asking about you”
“Doris you’re 17 and Lucas is about 27 so don’t go there”
Doris chuckled “It doesn’t matter”
