“I don’t un-derstand either but they’re at Keith’s?”
“Keith? what does she want from them?”
“I don’t think Keith has a hand in this” Regan said
“Take me there”
He gr@bb£d his car key “let’s go” and we walked out of the mansion
“Heading somewhere?” Alex asked from the balcony
“a little emergency” Regan replied then we entered the car and he drove off

“Mum” I ran to hvg my mother who was sitting beside my dad on a couch.
Lucas was also pres£nt there with a man I don’t know
“What are you both doing here?” I asked my parents
“How did get here?” dad asked back
“it’s a long story answer mine first” I said
Dad let out his breathe slowly “sit” he tapped a sofa beside him. I looked up at Regan who had been standing and watching us. He gave me a reas-suring smile and sat with me on the two sitter sofa.
“She’s the girl” dad said to the man then to me “he’s your real father”
I was confused “what do you mean?”
“we aren’t your real parents” dad stated
“mum” I called in disbelief
she was alre-ady in tears “am not your mum”
I turned to Regan “what are they saying” I could feel my tears rolling down my cheeks
“It’s alright” he said in a whisper and wiped my tears with his thumbs
“We’re so sorry Jennifer but it was the only way to protect you” Dad said
“I still don’t un-derstand” myl-ips were alre-ady trembling.
Just then, Keith walked in
“what’s going on here?” she asked pas-sing confusing glances at all of us. I got scared, what of she recognizes me?
I tried to hide my face but Regan prevented me
“it’s alright she’s not going to hurt you” he as-sured but I wasn’t convinced, I still tried turning
“Come sit Keith” The man said and tapped a space beside him. Keith walked to where he sat and sat beside him, that was when she noticed I and Regan.
“Regan!” she called in shock and sh0t me a glare but she didn’t recognize me and Regan didn’t pay attention to her.
“There’s something you nee-d to know Keith” the man began
“what’s it dad?”
My heart skipped a beat.

Dad went on to narrate how I was given to him when I was 3 and he worked as a gardener. It all turned out that Keith’s dad, Lugard was my biological father.
“It can’t be” Keith flared up “she can’t be K, what happened to Dawn?”
“Dawn is an imposter” Lugard replied
“no way dad” she yelled “no way am I going to accept her as K” then she stormed out
I wiped my tears and faced my parents. I opened my mouth to talk but couldn’t bring myself to say anything.
“we’re so sorry Jennifer” mum apologized
“I’ll take my leave now” Lucas announced and got up “I have stuffs to do”
“thank you so much detective” Lugard held out his hand

“We will be returning to Nigeria today” dad said
“I’ll prepare my pri-vate jet to take you back” Lugard said

“no Jennifer you can’t you’re home alre-ady” mum said

“am finding it difficult to believe this” I told Regan on our way back to the mansion.
I had asked Lugard for time to get over the situation but my main reason was Keith. I can’t bear staying with her.
“It’s more difficult believing I’ve been with K all these while” Regan said abs£nt mindedly
“I don’t want it” I sighed
“I don’t want it either” Regan said with a shrug

“Lucas!” Lorna squealed when I stepped into the building.
Lorna is my younger sister and I haven’t seen her for quite a while.

We walked inside the sitting room and sat down.
“Are your parents in?” I asked

Lorna fell asleep on the couch with her head on my l@p while I went throu-gh some cases on my phone.
“Lucas!” mum called entering the sitting room with dad
“Mum” I called back and tapped Lorna to get up which she sleepily did
“We’ll celebr@te this” Dad said enthusiastically
I chuckled “dad”
My parents were fond of celebr@ting each time I visit cause I rarely visit.
“I’ve been busy” I said
“we alre-ady know” Lorna sighed
We sat in the dining room as the maids served us dinner.
“I know your visits are often when you got good news so what’s the news” Dad said in the course of our meal
“K has been found” I announced
mum dropped her spoon in shock “Kaylan?”

“where’s she?”
“here in Canada” I replied
“where has she been?” Lorna asked
She didn’t really know Kaylan but she’s aware K is betrothed to me.

“wow!” Lorna mouthed when I was done telling them about Jennifer. How she went missing and how she was found.
We were now sitting in the sitting room.
“We’ll like to see her” dad said
I smiled “She’s still finding it difficult to accept all these so you won’t be able to see her now but I’ll make arrangements for that” I promised
We talked of less important things before going to be-d.

“detective” someone called immediately I entered the station
“Mr Wil wants to see you”
I nodded and walked ahead to my office. I don’t know why Dawn’s dad wants to see me but I wasn’t interested to know.
I sat behind my desk going throu-gh TY’s case when a knock c@m£ on my door.
“come in”
Tessy walked in “Good morning detective”
“Good morning” I replied not looking up from my paper work
“Mr Wil has been pleading to see you”
I sighed “what’s his reason?”
“he wouldn’t talk to us”
“s£nd in Drake”
“Drake hasn’t shown up for the past two days” Tessy replied
“have you tried reaching him?”
“yes but we couldn’t get to him”
“Reach him before today ends I want to know what’s wrong with him” I stated and walked out while Tessy walked behind me
“You wanted to see me” I said to Mr Wil
“I want to ask for a favor from you” Mr Wil said pleadingly
I gave him a go-ahead sign
“Dawn wasn’t aware of our plan, she was deceived like the rest of you and I can’t watch her suffer for our selfishness” Mr Wil began and I glanced at Dawn who was cu-mddled up in Mrs Wil’s arms and shivering
“plea-se let her out so she doesn’t die here”
“let her out” I ordered the officer who was on guard there
“Thank you so much” Mrs Wil said as Dawn walked out sluggishly
I walked behind Dawn as we walked out of the station.
“be careful” I prompted as she stumbled on the door post. She nodded and fell but I was quic-k to catch her.
“Dawn” I called but her eyes were alre-ady shut. I carried her in my arms into my car and drove to my house.

“she hates me and you don’t expect her to change now” said Jennifer firmly
“let’s talk about you accepting Lugard as your father”
“am still thinking about doing that” Jennifer sighed and shut her eyes
I fell back on the couch and shut my eyes but I was de-ep on thought. I didn’t want Jennifer to be K. It could be anyone but not her. I can’t spare Lugard because of her and if I succeed in taking her from Lucas, I can’t kill her when I get KLS. She doesn’t deserve to die and I can’t bring myself to do that. I can’t let her live as my wife, how would my parents feel if I marry the daughter of their murderer.

“you don’t nee-d to listen to us you can go ahead and carry out your revenge on Jennifer and her dad” James blurted out
“I want you to see it from this view” I said and sat up “you and I are friends and then I betray you and kill you and your wife but your son escaped else I would had killed him. Then I take your company and give to my only child and your son grows up and doesn’t avenge your death because of my daughter or he eventually marries my daughter and lives with her as his wife” I said then asked “will your soul ever rest in peace?”

I sighed and retired to my room. Jennifer was awake and going throu-gh my phone. She’s so obsessed with my phone. I stood at the door post watching her.

“if am Lugard’s daughter and Keith is also his daughter, then who’s his first child and who’s our mother?” she asked

I la-id on my be-d with my eyes shut but I wasn’t slee-ping. I wouldn’t st©p wondering why TY didn’t kill Dawn and also didn’t kill Jennifer. If only he had killed her then dad wouldn’t had found K. She would had been dead by now. Dad is going to hate me when he realises Jennifer is the same girl I asked him to kill some weeks ago. But I wasn’t bothered about that yet. I nee-d to get rid of Jennifer before the DNA test is conducted or better still change the result if she turns out to be K.
My phone rang and I glanced at the caller ID, it was a strange number.

Alex and James sat on the deck nursing a bottle of wine and talking.
“Have you ever wondered why Lugard killed Tyson’s parents?” James asked Alex
Alex took a dainty sip from his wine and dropped it on the table “I really do wonder, I think his parents must had done something to Lugard that’s why he killed them but I dare not mention it to Tyson”
“But what could they had done that deserved death?”

“her moves are so suspicious, I don’t trust her” Alex said to James

They waited till Joanna drove out then they entered James’ car and followed her.
