The first legal arrangement was more like an unending interrogation to Diana, her lawyer reached out to the bensons for a formal meeting but they presented her with the positive DNA reports for some reason jimi decided to honor the meeting.
They met three days later at their company in the conference room ,she was just zooming in and out of the room , watching her lawyer and. The Benson’s lawyer argue baselessly at the conference table. sometimes she gets so nervous that she stammers,
The questions were basically why she didn’t inform jimi that she had a child for him, although she insisted that she visited Mrs Benson seven years ago but Mrs Benson decided to fabricate fight dirty and deny that Diana and her sister never visited her and she only found out about the child
when jimi took her to their family hospital and their blood type matched and Abby had the same kind of allergies jimi had when he was a kid. They had a do over for the tests and it came out positively again
Virtually things was already turning AWOL for diana, it was pointless and meaningless arguing about false information and paternity
The evidence speak for themselves and
Diana and her lawyer, barr Uche were just stressing over the facts for no reason
Barr Uche had to call Diana to the lobby when it looked like she was just trying to humiliate him and make him look stupid at his own job
“Diana….. How are you feeling”
“Like an idiot”
“Well I un-derstand that things are not going as you thought it would but I want you to stay positive. Cases like this are very complicated”
“How long is it going to take”
“Honestly I don’t know, they seem to have made up their minds”
“So that’s it, my daughter is going to be taken away from me…. Am going to lose her”
“Cmon diana, don’t you say that, we may not have much to go on but I do believe they will have to consider us somehow”
“I don’t nee-d consideration, what I want is my daughter, Abby is my whole life and I can’t stand to imagine what my life would look like without her in it…. So just go in there and do your job”
“And what do you think am doing, am putting in my best to make sure that we are not at loose ends….. I’ve been talking non stop in there if I had the kind of evidence the benson’s have I would have closed this case hours ago but no am stuck and your words that doesn’t even tally most of the time. It’s like am pushing a lost battle”
He snapped
“I get it Barr Uche, I know you are doing your best , I get it we don’t have anything but my words to back me up, no solid proof and it puts us in a difficult position but I am begging you, adjourn the meeting if possible just enough time to get my mom down here and we can take this to court”
“Your mom….. Bringing another member of your family isn’t going to change so much and no court will approve cases like this because of such, its too minor to fabricate or prolong . ”
“Then what do they expect me to do…. Just give Abby up”
“No of course not”
“But you sound like you have given up”
“Am with you all the way. Look they expect you to come to terms with your boyfriend’s family and”
“He’s not my boyfriend” she pointed out
“Okay…. The child’s father, don’t say he’s not because he actually is, there’s DNA results proving he is. You know he is”
“Am not denying that he’s abby’s father, I just deny him the right to ever father her. He can’t walk into our lives after all these and expect everything to be handed to him on a golden platter ”
“Honestly That’s not up to you, your relationship with him even complicates this the more, sometimes the things that we don’t take account for seems to be what trips us over”
“Pls lemme worry about my mistakes while you focus on getting abby back to me”
Uche rolled his eyes
“Excuse me please…. ”
A voice interrupted and they turned to see jimi standing few feets from them
“Oh Mr Benson…. It’s you”
“Yeah .. Can I talk to Diana please”
“Uhm sure, is that okay with you?” He asked diana and she nodded
“Okay , let’s just wrap up on time . I have court session in an hour”
“I’ll be quick”
Uche walks away from them
“I don’t have anything to say to you, whatever is left to say will be communicated throu-ghmy lawyer”
She said folding her arms together

I didn’t want to go throu-ghany of this but sjnsvs you’re insisting on bringing the law into this I just have to play along
I still think we can settle this amicably, left to my mom she didn’t want me to be a part of this, she wanted to handle this herself and we both know what that feels like”

He adjusted his suit and walked away
Her lawyer tried to convince her that the bensons will use everything including their influence to win an open and shut case but this is actually different because they are actually the winning side and they don’t even nee-d to fight
He told her that they should have at least come down to a bargain but all that sounded like rolling drums to her, The fact that the judge gave her custody away baffles her, drove her insane
As she walks in to her apartment, Marty was there with abby hiding behind the curtains
“Oh Hey Diana…. How was today”
Diana ignores as she continues to unbu-tton her shirt .
“I guess It didn’t go well did it?”
Diana rolled her eyes at marty
“You think I don’t know you are coming from the court, for legal custody of Abby… You didn’t even bother to tell me, the same way you didn’t bother to tell me Abby was jimi and your sister’s child”
“Marty pls am too tired and I just want to crawl up to my bed and cry my eyes out without any judging comments . I don’t think I can handle any tough blow tonight”
“Relax am not here to crucify or judge you. Infact I came with a guest”
“Oh sweet heavens Marty. I just wanna be alone”
“Are you sure you don’t wanna see who I came with. Princess hop out now we’re ready”
Abby jumped out of the curtains and Diana’s heart almost leaped out of her che-st
It’s been four days since she’d last seen her . Abby jumped into her arms and she embr@ced her in a ti-ght hu-g almost crushing her. Diana was wailing her around with tears in her eyes
“Ohhhh baby . I missed you so much. You have no idea , how badly have been dying to see you. Look at you so pretty”
She pressed her li-ps on her cheeks
“I missed you too mommy. Daddy said I was going to see you at the right time I guess the right time means too long”
Diana chuckled and sat abby down on her lap-s
“Oh my God. This is surreal I was coming home feeling sad thinking I won’t get to see you again and there you were hiding behind the curtains”
“I thought you didn’t want to see who I came with”
“Am sorry. I was so frustrated, I have been going back and forth just to see my little pumpkin. I didn’t think she’d be here. How did you do it , how did you manage to sneak her out of their watch”
“Well I spoke to jimi and he said it was okay for me to bring abby here for a few hours. She has been asking about you alot and since you’ve channeled all your energy to the court and custody. You missed out on what’s more important. Making abby Happy”
“You know it’s not like that Marty . I’d sacrifice anything just to be with her again but this people are vultures”
“Okay That’s enough badmouthing. Abby can you go to your room pls”
“No I don’t want her to go” Diana held unto her like her life depends on it
“Then you have to watch what you say in front of abby like it or not this people are now family to abby. So you have to choose your words wisely”
“Okay. I’ll behave. Princess how have you been , what have you been up to? Do you sleep well at night. Hope you no longer have the monster nightmares. And if you did how did you manage to tackle them

After awhile abby went to use the restroom
“So what are you going to do now Didi. ”
“Everything has gone up in flames Marty, I feel like I just took a gun and shoot myself on the foot”
“Well it’s a good thing you acknowledge that you brou-ght this upon yourself.
What annoys me more is that you kept all this away from me, you left me in the dark this whole time. I had to stumble on a big brown envelope in your room to know that you are being dragged to court”
“Geez not now Marty, am exhausted”
“Go on and treat me like crap…. Have been your friend for five years now…. The least I deserve is some clarity, anything at all”
“I don’t have time for that right now”
“You never have time, you always want to do things at your own pace. it’s almost like you don’t want this friendship at all, like have been forcing myself on you and you don’t value our friendship at all….. “You know that is not true…. You have been such an amazing person and I know I can’t make it up to you but I just wish you can give me time to sort out everything. I nee-d time”
“Time to do what, maybe if you have not been so stuck with time we could have fixed this together but you always want things to be done your own way and here’s something you don’t know…. The world isnt yours to rule and direct somethings just happen contrary to how you expect it to be because that’s the way it has always been…. There’s no perfect tomorrow, no perfect forever, no perfect redemption. Nothing you do can bring back what’s gone. You nee-d to let go , make peace with what you have and embr@ce what you’ve got…
I cherished this friendship so much but I think you nee-d to heal and you nee-d to do that on your own”,

She stood up
“C’mon Abby, it’s time to go”
“No Marty. No pls don’t go”
Abby came out and Diana held her tiny hands fighting ha-rd not to burst into tears

“We have to go”
She took Abby’s hand and they left.
Diana couldn’t even bring herself to fight it , she has been an horrible and selfish friend
And even her friend thinks she’s a bad fit for abby……
