At the staff room i was just stealing glances at Joshua, but mhen, guy dey vex.
He no even sĀ£nd me and e turn back pain me…. Me sef no sabi why e come concern me when that was what I wanted.
A student c@mĀ£ to inform me about a clas-s and I took my bag and left, this time I left the staff room sluggishly because I’m not really good in the subject I was about to teach. Joshua was my saviour but guy no even look my face.
I went to the clas-s and taught the ru-bbish I could. Any student who asked question I turned it into general as-signment for the clas-s…… I can’t kill myself na.
I carried myself to the staff room with vexation as one annoying student….. One of the brightest laughed in clas-s. Probably he knew I didn’t know anything with all the questions they threw on me, maybe it was so obvious.
I sat on my desk and threw one glance at Joshua and saw he was preparing to attend to a clas-s.
I missed the way he do ask where i got difficulties and how he will try to help. But guy just carry his envelope and left the staff room and I breathed out and picked my lesson notes.
I don’t know if i was re-ading that book at all when a strong scent walked into the staff room and i heard hailing from the teachers there before i could raise my head.
Susan was the social and friendly one there, the teachers liked her more and I looked as she lackadaisically walked shaking their hands and c@mĀ£ to me last.
“How do I look? Susan asked turning round and i shook my head and faced my book not replying her.
“Shuoooo! Which kind bad belle be this na? A teacher annoyingly asked.
“No don’t bother I’m used to her, Susan said smiling and sat on my desk.
“That one wey dey mourn her bĀ©yfriĀ£nd, another said and i raised my head from the book.
“bĀ©yfriĀ£nd? Now now now wey i comot? Susan asked.
“Joshua o, she just dey tie tie face anyhow, the first teacher said and i gave a loud hiss.
“Can you do without gossiping? I asked them.
“Say you too important for person to gossip? Another asked and I hissed.
“Calm down o no be fight. Babe can I see you outside? Susan asked and left first while I followed to where the car was.
“Any problem? You don’t look well, Susan asked.
“Like you care, I replied.
“StĀ©p this na, I’m still your friend o, Susan said.
“I hear, any way I’m good nothing’s wrong, i replied.
“Okay, But what’s Joshua thing I’m hearing? She asked.
“How can i d@tĀ£ Joshua na? How is that even possible? I asked back.
“Ahhhhh Amanda why is it not possible? Minus money aspect, the guy is good you sef sabi and At least Joshua get cash na, he get business wey he dey join with this one, Susan said and i folded my arms to look at her.
“See eh, i knew Joshua was interested in you with the way he do look at you, girl go for him he’s good, Susan continued and i sm-irked.
“Susan I’m not you o that go for guys because of the money, i know what i want and that is a God fearing guy, I said.
“So Joshua na Satan dey fear am? I no even un-derstand this your God fearing status sef. Na matured and reasonable guys wey no dey drink, club or smoke dey meet you but they no be God fearing standard. I remember Chinedu for our place turn altar boy for your sake still he is not God fearing, babe what do you want? Susan asked and i smiled and shook my head.
“Susan wait o, so because you don wear ring with strong perfume you are now advising me on tĀ©p we-tin i want ba? I asked.
“Na we-tin you dey talk so ba? Susan asked.
“Susan leave me o, i get my taste and i know what i want and God who sees my heart will give me my heart de-sire, i replied and Susan hands up.
“Sorry ma o I’m only concerned that’s all, Susan said.
“Thank you, can i go now? I asked but she was quiet looking at me and I returned back to the staff room.
Hearing the bell I hanged my alre-ady packed bag and left the staffroom first but Joshua confronted me at the gate.
“What is it? I asked him.
“What did i do to you? Is it because I said i like you? Okay I’m sorry i take it back, lets be friends plea-se, Joshua said and i was weak………

Is Joshua humility for me? Apologizing for what he did nothing wrong, but Amanda isn’t that strong hearted I think, I just cooled down..
“Agreed? I won’t make the mistake again, he continued when I didn’t say anything and I nodded.
“Thank you, let’s go eat lunch somewhere, Joshua said taking my hand.
“Uhmmm no I want to go home, I quic-kly turned him down.
“No problem then, see you tomorrow, he said and I waved at him forcing a smile and went my way..
I got home and had a cool bath and sat down reminiscing all that happened in school, then I remembered Susan words to me and sighed shaking my head.
I saw Susan words as an insult to me and I wonder when Susan bec@mĀ£ concerned about my relationsh!pstatus.
Susan that always frowns whenever guys come around me in school, is the same person suggesting Joshua for me just because she has a ring on her f!nger. I hissed loudly at that and took my phone and saw I didn’t save John number. I decided to save it so I won’t ask whose calling just in case he calls again….. Of course I wanted him to call again!
I went on WhatsApp and surprisingly a message popped in from John and i balanced well on the be-d when I saw he’s even online.
“Hey Amanda thanks for accepting to teach the children. I just found out from the pastor and he told me its your family church, I’m glad you’re one of us now, I re-ad and smiled and la-id down thinking of what to reply.
But why is he so excited I’m now p@rt of the fold? I thought and replied;
“You don’t nee-d to thank me, we’re all doing the work of God”.
“Sure we are, Good afternoon, he replied.
“Good afternoon brother John, and that was how the chat started………..
2 days later I woke up feeling feverish with bĀ©dy pains. I managed and got my phone and called up Joshua,
“Hey what’s up? He jovially picked up but my voice said it all.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay? Joshua asked and i told him I’m not feeling too well.
“Its alright don’t stress yourself, I’ll cover up for you okay. Take Care of yourself I’ll see you after school, Joshua said.
“Thank you, i said and dropped the call covering myself up with a blanket.
Few minutes later i heard my phone ringing but i couldn’t pick up, it was that serious that i couldn’t have the strength to whisper prayers for myself.
But whosoever was calling insisted and i managed to stretch my hand and picked up without looking who it was.
“Hello Amanda, John voice c@mĀ£ on phone and i sniffed. My eyes were teary as I tried to speak,
“Are you sound? John asked and before I could reply, guy was alre-ady praying for me.
For 5 minutes my phone was just on my ears enjoying the prayers from Brother John and I put in an Amen when he Finalised it.
That was the most ro-mantic moment I’ve ever had and i was just smiling,
“Okay Amanda I traveled and I’m not in town, but when i come back I’ll surely visit you okay. But be rest as-sured you’re healed, he continued.
“Amen, thank you so much, i said.
“Thank God, I’ll call you back, John said and dropped the call. I shifted the phone aside and a knock c@mĀ£ on the door almost immediately.
I almost cried for whoever was knocking because i didn’t have the strength to open up but Susan called my name outside.
“I’m coming, i weakly replied and opened up for her.
“So you could not inform me you’re sick if not Joshua did why? She asked.
“Why should i inform a married woman I’m sick when you should be cudd-ling your husband in be-d, i replied.
“Oh is that what you’ve been thinking that i parked to his house? Oh sorry baby girl i intentionally told you that and you’re capitalizing on it with your judgmental spirit. The principal isn’t that type of man, and so you know I’m at his elder sister place because he wanted me to be comfortable, are you happy now? Susan asked but i just cu-mddled myself on be-d saying nothing and she hissed and felt my nĀ£Ā¢k with the back of her palm.
“Let me go get you drugs to calm the fever, she said.
“No I’ll be fine, brother John prayed for me and i believe strongly in the prayers, i told her and she looked at me.
“Brother John? She asked and i nodded.
“You wont know him but the prayer was powerful and I know I’ll be fine. I just have to rest that’s all, i replied and la-id down and she scoffed.
“At least let me get you pain relieve na, your eyes are watery, she said.
“I wont take it, but if you want to help then prepare food for me I’m hungry, i said and Susan folded her arms looking at me.
“This is serious, but how come i don’t know about this brother John? Susan asked sitting down but i didn’t reply and she heaved.
“He sounds like a God fearing guy sha,Susan said hitting me and i smiled.
“Of course he is, can your Joshua guy pray for me? I asked and Susan nodded.
“So God fearing is by prayers ba? Its alright let me prepare something for you to eat so you can have the strength to pray in the mountain with this brother John, Susan said and i pla-yfully threw her the pillow i held…………
