❣Jayson Pov ❣
“I’ll prefer the pink one. ” I said to the seller who initially gave me some teddy bears to choose from and the one I’m holding on my hand is a brown one but I do have a feeling that Lydia will want a pink color. I mean that’s what every girl like anyway.
Katherine is lying on the hospital be-d as we speak, the doctor said the substance that went into her system were excess causing damage to her b©dy as a whole but been that we took her to the hospital on time they were able to extract it from her before it causes more damage and as for Paul, he’s at the police custody and I just told them to keep him there until I know what to do with him.
I didn’t want leave Katherine’s side but Lydia is having an award pres£ntation in school today and her grandma told me that she’s going to be among those that’ll be awarded and she can’t be with her that I should plea-se be her father and she also warned me not to mention anything to Lydia that I should wait for Katherine to tell her everything.
As long as I won’t be denied of the right to be with my daughter then I’m fine. And I’m glad to be given this little time to spend with her.
I left the toy shop and went back into my car when my phone began to ring and it was Nik calling.
📱I just arrived in the hospital and I found Katherine in one of the wards.
He said into the phone. Did i mention that Nik is a doctor that works in the hospital Katherine is?

I started the car and began driving slowly.

I ended the call and increase my speed to the school.

I was directed to where the pres£ntation will take place and when I got there Lydia wasn’t in sight.
“Hey, did you happen to see Lydia Smoake? ” I ask a pupil that’s sitting all alone b!tt!g a chocolate bar.
“She went to the bathroom. Who are you? ”
I’m her long lost father. How will that sound?
“What are you doing here? ” I smile when I heard her sharp sweet voice. Her voice is not different from Katherine’s.
“The next winner is Lydia Smoake! ”
“Let’s go get your award. ” I said facing her and she replied with a smile.

“What’s that? ” She ask looking at the bag that’s at the back seat. We’re in the car ri-ding to the hospital. I stretch my hand and gr-ab the bag then brou-ght out the teddy bear and hand it to her.
“It’s a gift for a job well done. ” I said smiling and she hvg the teddy bear.
“Brown is my favorite color. ” She said starring at the teddy bear and my eyes caught her bag pack which is brown in color.
$h!t!
“I’m sorry about that. I thought all girls like pink. ” I said.
“Mommy said I’m weird because I act differently. I behave like an adult and likes what nob©dy likes. ” She said and she’s starting to sound sad.
“Common Lydia don’t talk like that. You’re special. ” She shouldn’t be sad. I don’t want my daughter to be sad.
“I miss her. I wish she’s not lying on that be-d. ” She said looking down.
“What did you do to her? “She still maintain her position.
” Lydia. “I can’t tell her. I promised her grandmother I won’t tell her anything until Katherine gives the go ahead.
” She was really mad and she wouldn’t st©p screaming. Did you cheat on her? ”
“Let me and your mom handle this okay? This is beyond you. ” I said and she ti-ght£ñed her hvg on the teddy bear.
When we got to the hospital, she ran into her grandmother’s arms and then she showed her the medal she got from school. They were having their time so I had to leave to Nik’s office.
“Looks like I’m not leaving here till tomorrow morning. ” Nik said signing a file which he hand to the lady that’s standing in front of him. She collected it and walk out of the office.
“You’ll help me watch on Katherine then. ” I said sitting down.
“So what really happened with Katherine? How did she find out? ”
I explained how Mom went to the office and told Katherine everything and what she did to herself that ended her up here.
“That’s really tragic. I wished I’m the one as-signed to her. ” He said and I nod my head.
“It’s okay. I’ll really nee-d to go home to freshen up. I’ll be back. ” I said getting up.
I left Nik’s office to Katherine’s ward and there was no Lydia or her grandma. I nee-d to tell them that I’m leaving and will be back.
I went in search of them and I found Lydia in the hospital church. She’s just sitting and I went to meet her and sit with her.
“What did you pray about? ” I ask her quietly.
“I didn’t pray. ” She glance at me and face the alter.
“What? ” I was shocked to hear her say that.
“He told me that I don’t have to worry myself about anything because Mommy is going to be okay. ” She said sounding so sure. The confidence in her voice is something and I know she’s talking about God.
“God speaks to you? ” I ask her.
“He’s always with His children. He said all things works together for good. Sort out your problems with Mommy when she wakes up because I still want you to be my daddy. ” She said and rest her head on my legs.
I am your daddy Lydia. Your birth daddy.
“You two are here. ” Lydia raised her head and I turn to see Katherine’s Mom
“Your mommy is awake sweetheart. ” She said smiling. Lydia chuckles and went into her grandma’s arms.

💞Katherine POV 💞
“Mom I’m fine st©p all these alre-ady. ” I said and she re-move her hand from my n£¢k. I feel fine seriously but Mom won’t take any of that and that’s why she has made them keep me here for days.
I know I messed up big time, going back to my vomit and doing all those $h!ts but the truth is, my anger got the best of me and now I’m not angry any more but mom insist they should still watch me like I’m some guide dog.
I don’t know what Jay is going to do with Paul but it’s definitely not good.
“Mom, it’s not Paul’s fault. ” I said ma-king her to st©p what she was doing.
“I don’t care Katherine. He was drugging you inside my own house? He should rot in jail. ” Mom fired.
“Mom, he’s your pastor’s son. ” I said amist laughter.
“More reason why I allowed Jayson to handle him. Speaking of which, when is he planning to get back here. ” Mom said and my countenance changed.
“Everyb©dy makes mistakes Katrina and yes I do hate him and I still do. ” She said ma-king me to laugh.
“But he’s sorry and I know he has changed because he was here everyday and he has been the one dealing with your daughter’s schooling. He meant his apology. ” Mom said. I just smiled without saying a word.
“I hate the smell of hospital. “I heard Lydia saying to Jayson as they walked in together and she was holding his hands.
” Mommy when are we going home? “She asked running to my be-d.
” That question should be directed to your grandma. “I said and Lydia faced her.
” Don’t look at me young lady, your mommy isn’t coming home yet. “Mom said and Lydia made a crying face and we ended up laughing then Jayson cleared his throat. I almost forgot he was standing there.
” How are you now Kathy? “He asked me. That name, how I’ve missed hearing that.
” I am fine. “I felt like screaming it. Someone should plea-se believe me.
” I’ll go talk to the doctor then. “Lydia said and was about leaving.
” There’s something I nee-d to tell you something Lydia. “And she paused.
How long will I be angry?
Just like what Mom said, everyb©dy is meant to make mistakes and we all have a past and an awful one at that. This is my past and he still chose to stay with me despite I hurt him.
He hurt me and I don’t think I will ever forget what he did but forgiveness is divine and it’s not in my place to judge and what if I say he did me a favor by ra-ping me that night? He gave me Lydia and I shouldn’t deny him the right to be with his daughter.
“You know I finally found your biological father. ” I said and her smiling face broaden. She has always wanted to know who her father is anyway so I think she’ll be happy knowing Jayson is the one.
“Who is he Mommy? ” She asked coming back to my be-d.
“He’s right by the door. ” I said and she turn to face him.
💜Jayson POV 💜
“He’s right by the door. ” Kathy said and Lydia turn to face me. At first the look on her face was that of shock and in few seconds it turns to that of excitement and she ran into my arms. I thought this was going to be ha-rd .
“I love you daddy. ” She said on my n£¢k
“I love you too my princess. ” I said patting her back. Thank you so much for this gift Katherine.
I carried Lydia and we got close to Katherine who’s smiling.
“You don’t have to pretend any more. ” She said looking at me and I bent low to k!ssher still carrying Lydia. I thought she was going to object but she k!$$£d me back.
“Thank you. ” I said to her.
“I think we have a visitor. ” Katherine’s mom said and I turn to see my mom. What’s she going to do now.
“Oh my God is that her? ” Mom ask getting closer and I nod my head as a yes.
“Daddy, who’s she? ” Lydia ask me.
“Your second grandmother. ” I said and she got closer and place her hand on Lydia’s face.
“Goodness she’s so beautiful. She takes after me. ” Mom said.
“She’s weird. ” Lydia said ma-king everyone in the room to laugh except Mom of course.
“Forgive what I did to you Katherine. A mother got to do what she got to do. Im happy you’re alright. ” Mom said to Katherine who just reply with a smile.
“So, when is the wedding? ”
God, who’s talking about wedding? What is wrong with this woman? I don’t even know if Kathy still wants me.
“Next month. ” Lydia said and I looked at her.
“Mommy, you’re gonna get married to Daddy next month right? ” She ask looking at Katherine who’s only smiling.
“Someone should give the girl an answer alre-ady. ” My mom said and I look at Kathy who nod her head shyly.
TWO YEARS LATER
“It’s boring. ” Lydia said pushing her hair backwards and giving me that annoying look. I and Kathy did get married the month Lydia chose and the d@t£ she chose was actually her birthday the day she was 6 and now she’ll be seven in few months time. Getting married to Kathy is a dream come true and not once have I regretted been with her and our beautiful daughter who has made it her life mission to frustrate me I mean who tell be-d time story in the afternoon?
“It’s the fifth story princess. What else do you want to hear? ” I ask her.
“Something captivating. Daddy you nee-d to be creative. You don’t always have to re-ad from a book. ” She said and I place my hand on my cheek.
“Why are you looking at me like that? ”
“I’m just wondering why you can be like this. Didn’t you promise to act like a child. ” I said to her and she sits up on the be-d.
“Acting as a child is boring Daddy. I’m an adult tra-pped in a child’s b©dy. “She said and climb down the be-d. This girl won’t seize to amaze me.

“Seven. I just can’t wait to be 18 so I can have my own ap@rtment and a b©yfri£nd. ” She said and ran out of the room which I followed her. She knew I hate her mentioning a b©yfri£nd. I know, I just don’t want to think that a day will come when one guy will come and take her away.
“Daddy running around the house is childish. ” She said running towards the door.
“I don’t mind been a child again. ” I said running after her and she bu-mp into her mother who’s just getting in.
“And what is the chase about? ” She asked while I retired on the couch.
“Daddy don’t know how to tell a story. ” She said and I gr-ab her then start tickling her while she laughs begging me to st©p.
“I’m just coming from the hospital. ” I st©pped what I was doing and faced her.
“I’m pregnant. ” She said smiling and I didn’t know when I screamed and hvg Lydia then proceeds to hvg Kathy. She’s going to give me another child.
“Ain’t you happy about the news Lydia? ” She asked her and I faced the weird girl.
“I am super excited because now nob©dy is going to f0rç£ me to be a child. ” She said and ran back upstairs. I and Kathy looked at each other and ran upstairs to catch her.
This is the family I’ve always dreamt of.
