Episode 37
Tyler’s POV
After school on Wednesday, Seth and I drove into town where Seth picked up a few things. We also stopped at his uncle’s antique shop for a small visit, but ended up being there for longer.
On our way back, we decided to drive to a place where we usually hang out. It was an old abandoned playground that was a fifteen minutes drive from our school.
We would normally come here to hang out before going home. It has been a while since we stopped here so we decided to do so today.
Today wasn’t any different than the other days we stop here. We were here for almost an hour now just chilling and talking about nothing in particular; just random topics.
Seth was settled on top of a bench with his feet on the sitting area and I sat a few feet in front of him on a tree stomp with my back leaning on a tree.
Most of the time we were talking however, I was a little distracted. I couldn’t help it. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop thinking about how things turned out with Emily and I.
I knew that our fake dating had to come to an end, but deep down I wish it didn’t. Even though I didn’t want to admit it, I miss her.
Trying my best not to think about it anymore, I took out my phone from my pocket and began to scroll through my news feed on Instagram.
“Are you texting Emily?” Seth asked. Looking up from my phone, I looked at him. He was no longer in a sitting position. He was laying on his back on the bench top with his hand being his head.
He wasn’t looking at me though. He was staring up at the sky.
I shook my head. “No, I’m not. Why would you think that?” I asked.
He didn’t answer me. In fact, he fell into silence. Shaking my head, I went back to my phone.
“Dude, you are so stupid.” Seth said suddenly.
I gave him a confused look.
“What are you talking about Seth?”
“I’m talking about Emily. It’s obvious even to a blind person that you like her.” Seth replied.
I shake my head adamantly. “No, I don’t.” I denied.
Seth sat up in a sitting position on the bench once again and faced me.
He cut me off before I could even say anything else. “Oh yes you do. You can’t fool me. You’re just too damn coward to even admit it to yourself.”
“There is nothing to admit. Emily and I had a deal and now it’s over.” I said. “There is nothing more to it.”
“It was more than that man and you know it.” Seth countered pointing an accusing finger at me.
I opened my mouth to contradict him, but closed it instantly. I really didn’t have anything to say, because he was right. He was right about everything. I need to stop denying it.
I’ve always known because of all these feelings I’d have whenever I was around her or thinking about her. I knew that she had gotten to me more that any girl ever had before. Even hearing her name puts a smile on my face.
I admit, I was ignoring my feelings and pushing it aside because I didn’t know how to handle it. I’ve never felt this way before about a girl and honestly, it scared me.
Seeing her in school these past three days, I had to stop myself every time from walking over to her. I couldn’t explain my reasons for wanting to do that.
All I know is that I wanted to be close to her. I wanted to be with her. I wanted to just talk to her.
There was so many times that I couldn’t stop myself from staring at her.
Sometimes, she would look around at me and other times, I prayed that she would just look around and smiled at me.
I would do anything just to see her smile. She didn’t though, because those times she didn’t even know I was watching her.
I know it sounds creepy, but I couldn’t help myself. I miss being with her a lot and now I knew why. Well, I knew why a long time ago. I was just ignoring it, so I wouldn’t have to deal with it.
However, now I knew that I couldn’t hide my feelings anymore. I didn’t want to.
I like her. I like her a lot. Hell, what I felt for her was more than that and I wanted desperately to share them with her.
As this realization hit me, a smile appeared on my face. I looked up at Seth and he was already looking at me with a knowing grin.
“So what are you still doing here?” He asked pointing his hands in the direction of the street where my car was parked. “Go get your girl.”
I shook my head at him and smiled before I turned and walked away in the direction of my car.
When I pulled up in the driveway of my house, I saw someone sitting on the front steps waiting for me.
When I parked my car and got out, I saw that the person was Andrea. She stood up and walked towards me when I closed the car door.
“Hi Tyler.” She said with a smile.
“What are you doing here, Andrea?” I asked without preamble. I just wished that she’d leave me alone. I didn’t want to deal with her right now.
“You don’t have to be so hostile. What happened? We used to be so close.”
“You really want me to answer that?” I challenged losing my patience with her.
She came closer to me and placed her hands on my shoulder. “I just wanted you to know that you don’t have to worry about your little girlfriend anymore. You’re free to come back to me now.”
I instantly pushed her hand from me and stepped back. “What? What are you talking about Andrea?” I narrowed my eyes at her. “What did you say to her?”
She shrugged as if it didn’t matter. “I didn’t say much. I just told her the truth.” She replied in a casual tone.
I shook my head as I tried to control my anger. “What is wrong with you? Why would you do something like that?”
“Nothing is not wrong with me, Tyler. You’re the one making a big mistake. I understand though. You were confused. I was just helping you out.
I did you a favour. Now you don’t have anything holding you back.” She said, then smiled once again. “Now you should get over whatever it was that you had with her and come back to me.”
I stood there looking at her and it was like I was seeing her for the first time. Seeing who she really was. “You know what you are?” I asked in a hard tone. “You are a manipulative, cold hearted person and I don’t want any to do with you.”
She flinched at my words, before saying, “Tyler, you don’t mean that.”
“I mean every word. Please do me a favour and don’t go near me or Emily ever again.” I didn’t want to say anything else to her. I was done with her. Honestly, I don’t know what I had seen in her in the first place.
Also, I wasn’t angry at what she did two years ago. No, I was passed that. I was angry because she was here now and trying to interfere in my life.
“Please leave.” I demanded. I didn’t want to hear anything else from her. I didn’t even want to look at her right now. “Please leave. Now.”
“Tyler, you don’t-” She began.
“Leave now, Andrea and I don’t want to ever see you again.”
Andrea stood there, looking at me for a long time, before she turned and stormed away.
Finally getting her out of my life for good, I turned my attention to Emily’s house. All light were off except her room light.
I checked my watch and saw that it was after seven o’ clock. I didn’t want to disturb her parents by knocking on the door and asking to speak to her. I couldn’t do that.
I smiled as I thought about seeing her again. I haven’t seen much of her in school. I don’t know why but I felt like she was avoiding me and that was killing me inside.
I needed to see her tonight and tell her everything. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow. I also couldn’t text her or call her because I needed to do this face to face.
Just then a smile formed on my lips as an idea popped into my head.

Episode 38
Emily’s POV
My parents went to bed early after dinner on Wednesday evening, so after I finished washing the dishes, I went up to my room earlier than normal. After turning off all the lights in the house, I went up to my room.
When I entered my room, I heard my phone ringing. I walked over to my bed and took it up. Checking the caller ID, I saw that it was Tori. I lay on my bed and picked up the call.
“Hey girl. What’s up?”
“Hi Emily. I’m just checking up on you. How are you doing?”
I scrunched up my eyebrows in confusion. “I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Emily, you didn’t seem like yourself in school today. You spaced out a lot and I noticed you barely said two words. I was worried about you.” She explained.
“Thanks Victoria, but really I’m good.” I insist.
“Are you sure?”
“Well, I would be eventually.”
“Good. Don’t worry about it okay? It will all work out. I know it will.”
“Thanks girl.” I said grateful that she was trying to make me feel better even though what she was suggesting would never happen.
“Sure thing. Okay, I have to go now. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.”
“Bye.” I said and hang up my phone.
Resting my phone on the nightstand table, I went inside my bathroom to get ready for bed. When I got back out, I took up the book that I was currently reading from my nightstand table and got back on my bed.
I was lying on my bed reading for about ten minutes now, when I heard a sound at my window. I looked towards my open window and almost fall off my bed in shock.
Coming through my window was none other than Tyler. I stood up from my bed and walked over to the window as he stepped inside my room.
My eyes were wide with shock. “Tyler, are you crazy? How did you get over here?”
Tyler shrugged and pointed a finger behind him through the window. “I used the tree.”
“But I thought you said it was impossible.” I exclaimed, astonished that he actually came over the fence that separated our house and used the tree to my room without breaking his neck.
He smiled at my shocked expression. “No, I said you couldn’t do it. I didn’t say anything about me.”
I rolled my eyes. “Of course.” I replied. We fell into silence for about three seconds and suddenly I started to feel awkward. Trying to relieve the tension a bit, I spoke again. “What are you doing in my room anyways?”
“I’m here because I wanted to tell you that I don’t want us to end our dating.” He said.
I looked at him confused. “Why? I don’t think we have to pretend anymore.”
“Yeah I know, but we won’t be fake dating. I was thinking that we could date for real this time.” He stated watching my reaction.
My eyes went wide at his words. I tried to remain cool, not sure where he was going with this. Whether he was joking or not. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, just to be heartbroken again. These past three days I was avoiding him so that I could get over the frightening feelings that I was having.
“Why? I thought you were getting back with Andrea.” I said causally. “I thought you still love her.” I added hesitantly.
“I never loved her. I know that now.” He replied. “And besides, I had no intention of getting back with her.”
“Really?” I asked, then pressed on. “Why?”
“Well, I can give you two reasons.” He said, stepping closer to me. “One, because Andrea is manipulative and rude and I don’t want anything to do with her again.”
I smiled, glad to hear him say that. “Those aren’t the words I’d use for her, but those could work too.” I replied. “What’s the second reason?”
He smiled as he stood in front of me. He was close to me now. Looking right into my eyes, he said in a quiet voice. “Because I’m falling for someone else.”
I lifted my eyebrows at him as my heart began to beat faster. I felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. “Really? Who?” I asked, even though I knew he was referring to me.
“I’ll give you a hint.” He replied, smiling at me. “She’s beautiful, smart, funny…” He looked down on the pajamas I was wearing and added with a playful smirk. “And she likes to wear Mickey Mouse pajamas.”
I giggled. “She seems interesting.”
Tyler lifted his arms and wrapped them around my waist and brought me closer. “Oh yes, she is.”
“I’ll like to meet her.” I said with a teasing smile.
Tyler chuckled. “Just shut up and kiss me.”
“It’ll be my pleasure.” I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.
Even though we have kissed so many times. This kiss was different. There was no holding back in this one and it felt like it meant something real. My heart was still beating rapidly and I felt his too. The feeling was exhilarating. I felt like I have finally reentered my body.
Tyler pulled away from the kiss and rest his forehead on mine. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone before.” Tyler said quietly. With my forehead still resting on his, I looked at him as he continued. “I was avoiding it, but I don’t want to hide it anymore.”
“Oh yeah.” I said just as quiet.
“Yeah.” He removed his head from mine, but still held on to my waist. “So, what do you say? Will you be my girlfriend for real this time?”
“Hmm…” I pretended to think about it.
Tyler grins. “You’re really going to leave me hanging?” I watched him as I tried to keep a straight face.
I smiled at him before wrapping my arms around his neck. “Does this answer your question?” I asked as I reached up to him and kissed him lightly.
He gave me a warm smile. “Yes it does. Good answer.”
We stood in each other arms for a while and then I said. “By the way, why didn’t you wait until tomorrow to see me instead of climbing through my window?”
“I had to see you and besides I missed you.” He answered.
“Me too.” I confessed. “I didn’t know that when we ended things that I’d feel this way. I’m glad that you suggested this deal.”
Tyler lifted his eyebrows in question. “Any regrets?”
I shook my head without thinking about it. “None.”
“Good because I’m not planning on letting you go again.” He replied. After a while he said. “I should go, but for some reason, I can’t seem to get my body to move.”
I laughed. “I know what you mean, but you should go.”
Tyler lifted his eyebrows playfully. “So you want me to go?”
“Of course not, but I know that if I don’t make a move we’re both going to be here all night.” I said. “And remember we have school tomorrow.”
Tyler laughed at that. A little bit too loud.
My eyes went wide and I brought my finger to his lips. “Shhh Tyler.” I said in a whisper. “You’re going to wake my parents. I can’t let them come in here and see you.”
He took my hand that I held on his lips and enclosed it with his. “That wouldn’t be good, would it?”
“Not at all.” I shook my head. “My parents like you, but they wouldn’t like the idea of you being in my room.”
“Well then, I guess I better go now.” He replied as he moved away from me.
He walked over to my window, but before he went through it, he turned back around and walked back towards me.
“Why are you turning back?” I asked.
“I forgot something.” Was his reply as he wrapped his arms around my waist again and pulled me closer for a soft, lingering kiss. When he pulled back, he looked me straight in the eyes and whispered. “I love you.”
I smiled at him, my heart beating rapidly at his words. I didn’t expect him to say that but by the look in his eyes, I could tell that he didn’t want to delay how he was feeling. I wanted him to know my feelings as well, so I said. “And I love you, Tyler King.”
His lips stretched into a smile. “Good night.” He said as he stepped away from me.
“Good night.” This time, he went to my window and climbed out.
I watched him as he climbed down the tree and over the fence. When he was inside his room again, he looked over my room and winked at me. I lifted my hand and waved at him.
That night when I went to bed, it was the happiest I’ve ever felt.

Episode 39
“I don’t have to ask why you two are holding hands and looking like a couple.” Tori said as soon as she saw Tyler and I the following day.
We walked over to where she stood. “Hello to you too, Tori.”
Tori smiled. “So you two are dating for real now, right?”
“Yes it’s real.” Tyler supplied wrapping his arms around me.
“I knew something was up all along. I was just waiting for you both to admit it. I’ve never seen fake dating looked so real before.” She emphasized.
I smiled at Tori’s excitement. “Yes Tori, you were right.”
“Of course I was. I know a perfect match when I see one.” She said proudly.
“Yes and I’m not letting her go so easily.” Tyler added sending a wink my way.
“Awww,” Tori sighed. “Tan Lindo .” After a while she said. “Anyway, I hope you didn’t forget that today is the girl’s soccer team championship game.”
“Yes, I remember.” I nodded. How could I? They had announced it in assembly yesterday.
“So, are you going?” She asked hopefully. “It’s the last game of the season.”
“Of course I’m going. I am definitely going to give Stephanie my support. Plus, I would really like to see how a soccer match is played.” I said.
Tori looked at Tyler. “Are you coming as well, Tyler?”
“Of course he’s coming.” I answered for him.
“Yeah, what she said.” Tyler confirmed.
“Great.” Tori replied. “I’m going to class. I’ll see you guys later.” Tori bid us goodbye and head to her class.
Tyler and I had English together. He followed me to my locker and then we went to his.
I leaned on the locker beside his and waited for him to get his books. As I stood there, I spotted Logan at his locker a few rows down. He wasn’t looking at us, he was busy inside his locker.
The whole situation brought me to think about that very first time when I walked over here and kissed Tyler. Looking back, I can’t believe I really did that. I was really brave and confident which wasn’t normally me.
All I could think about at the time was getting Logan off my back. It worked, but that wasn’t the best thing that came out of this whole situation. I got Tyler out of this.
Also, I can’t believe we pulled it off without anyone knowing that it was fake.
Well, that doesn’t matter now because we weren’t faking anymore. If I thought about it, I didn’t regret making this deal with Tyler because we wouldn’t be a couple now.
I smiled to myself. Yup, I wouldn’t change a thing about what I did that day.
“What are you smiling about?” Tyler asked as he closed his locker. I snapped out of the memory and looked at him.
“I’m just remembering the first time I came here to your locker.” I confessed.
Tyler smiled and leaned his shoulder on his locker. “Yeah, I remember that day perfectly clear. It was all I could think about actually.”
I watched him closely. “Yeah right.” I stated unconvinced.
“It’s the truth. I couldn’t get that kiss out of my head.” He insisted. “All I could think about was kissing you again.”
I smiled at him and was about to respond to that when Logan, who I didn’t remember was at his locker, walked passed us. As he passed, he looked at us for a second before looking away and continued walking.
Tyler, who noticed him as well, turned to face me again. “Is he still bothering you?”
I shook my head. “No. He actually apologized and told me that he would leave me alone now.”
“He did?” He asked lifting his eyebrows in surprise.
I nodded my head. “Yup.”
“Are you sure? Because he wouldn’t want to have to deal with me. I don’t like the idea of him harassing you.”
“I’m sure so you don’t have anything to worry about.”
He smiled. “That’s good.”
I leaned towards him and gave him a quick kiss on his lips. “Now come on or we’ll be late for class.” I said then took his hand in mine.
He then bring that hand around my shoulders and we walked to class together.
After classes ended for the day, Tyler and I walked around to the side of the school where the field was and took a seat on the bleachers. There was only a few students here as majority of the students were still in school.
As soon as we sat down, Tyler said. “Why am I here by the way? Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a good soccer match, but I’d much rather spend the afternoon with you alone.”
“I’d much rather that too Tyler, but we are here to support Stephanie and our school’s soccer team. We can spend time together anytime.” I replied. “So stop complaining and let’s enjoy watching the girls play their game.”
He chuckled. “Okay, I will enjoy the game, but just so you know you’re the only girl I’m interested in watching.” He replied.
I turned to face him with my eyebrow lifted teasingly. “Is Mr. Sexy, Bad Boy, Tyler King being corny?”
Tyler’s lips lifted in a slight smirk. “You think I’m sexy?”
I felt my cheeks heat up. I didn’t realized that I said that out loud. “Was that the only think you heard?”
“Pretty much.” He was still grinning as he watched me. “Have I told you how cute you look when you’re blushing?” He asked.
“I’m not blushing.” I denied.
“Oh yes, you are.”
“I’m not.”
“Whatever you say.” Tyler sang with a teasing grin.
“Tyler.” I said hitting him lightly on his shoulders. “Do you enjoy teasing me?”
“Yes I do actually.” He replied sending me that heart stopping smile of his. I couldn’t help but smile as well.
“Could you two love bugs get a room?” I heard a voice say teasingly behind us.
I turned around in time to see Seth sitting on the seat behind us.
“Dude, you did not just say ‘love bugs’.” Tyler said accusingly.
“Yes, I think I just did.” Seth laughed.
“Hi Seth. I didn’t think I’d see you here.” I stated.
“Yeah, I didn’t plan on it, but Victoria was adamant that I come and support our school’s soccer team.” Seth grumbled and I laugh a little.
That sounds like Tori. She was making sure that everyone she knew was coming to the game. She was really going all out for Stephanie. “And besides, I wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to come and watch girls on the field playing soccer.”
I rolled my eyes. “Of course you wouldn’t miss that.”
Just then Tori showed up. She took a seat behind us as well. “Hey guys. Good to see you’re all here already.”
“Yes we are. Where were you?” I asked her. I thought she would have been the first one here.
I looked at Tori. She had on a shirt with the blue and yellow school colours and the word “Cobras” was written on the front.
She had on her right hand a yellow number one gloves. She really was going all out to support the Cobras. Or should I say to support Stephanie.
“I was with Steph.” She answered a huge smile on her face.
“Is the game about to start anytime soon?” Seth complained to Tori.
“Be patient. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30pm. The girls are currently changing in the locker room.” Tori stated. Suddenly, she pointed to the field. “Look, our team is coming out now.”
I turned my attention to the field to see that Tori was right. Both our team and the other school’s team were walking unto the field.
“It’s about time.” Tyler whispered beside me.
Giving him a sideways look, I nudged him and he chuckled. “I was just joking. I don’t care where I am as long as I’m with you.”
Smiling, I took his hand in mine. “Me too.”
I felt like I was where I should be. Without warning, Tyler has come to mean so much to me and I wouldn’t have it any other way. He makes me so happy and that’s a feeling I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
The end
