Episode 17

TRUCE???

…………..
“Woah, so you called off the fake d@t£?” Victoria asked in confirmation.
I nodded my head. “Yep.”
It was the following day and Victoria and I were in the cafeteria. I didn’t get a chance to talk to her before, so as soon as she sat down for lunch, I told her everything that transpired yesterday.
“That’s too bad. I really liked your fake relationsh!p.” Victoria tea-sed.
I rolled my eyes. “Oh plea-se, it was a disaster waiting to happen from the beginning.”
“By the way, what did he say?” Tori asked.
“I didn’t give him a chance to say anything. I walked away.” I replied. “Besides, he should be glad. Now he’s free to ban-g everything that moves. I won’t be the one to stand in his way.”
“That’s good for him.” Tori took a bite of her slice of pizza. “So, Jason Forrester is keeping a Halloween p@rty at his house next week for Halloween. You going?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know. My plan was to stay home and watch horror movie marathon.”
“Come on, it’s a costume p@rty. We could wear the outfit that we bought. How cool is that?”
I thought about it for a while. It did sound fun and it would be better than staying in all day.
“Okay, I’m in. It sound like it’s going to be fun.” I replied. “I won’t tell you what I’m wearing though. Remember, we’re surprising each other.”
Tori smiled. “Okay.”
We continued to eat our lunch and I couldn’t help but to look around the cafeteria for Tyler.
Lunch was almost up and I hadn’t seen him come to the cafeteria. I knew he was at school, because I had pas-sed him in the parking lot this morning. I gro-an ed inwardly.
Why was I even thinking about him anyway? We didn’t have any connection to each other anymore. I nee-d to go back to my life and pretend like Tyler and I’s fake d@t£ had never happened.
Clearing all thoughts of Tyler from my mind, I continued to eat my lunch.

When I got home that day, I saw my father sitting on the couch in the living room.
“Hi Dad!” I greeted him.
“Hi MiMi Mo!” He looked up from the television set and smiled.
I scrunched my face at his childhood nickname for me. “Dad, don’t you think I’m too old to be called that?”
“What? You are?” He asked in fake shock. He then put his face in a ponder, then said. “Okay then, Emily it is.” He looked at me and grinned mischievously. “Is that okay, MiMi Mo?”
“Dad!” I exclaimed, but a smile took over my face. Dad would never st©p calling me that and I know it. He was the only one who called me that, ever since I was a baby and I didn’t mind at all. It was his name for me.
“So, how was school?” Dad asked, bringing me from my thoughts.
“School was great.” I responded.
“That’s good.”
“Where is Sarah?” I enquired.
“She went to the grocery sto-re to get some things.” Dad replied.
“Okay then.” I said as I began to head for the stairs. “I’m going to my room.”
When I got to my room, I did all my homework and took a quic-k shower. Sarah had ask me earlier today if I wanted to help her with dinner. I gladly accepted. So, I wanted to do everything before she got back.
I was actually excited to cook with her as I’ve never done that before. I’ve always imagined what it would be like to cook with my mom and I thought I would never get the chance. Now, I’m getting the chance.
Sarah is like a mom to me, so it won’t be any different. I was looking forward to it.
The evening went on quic-kly and dinner went by. Cooking with Sarah went great and we definitely will do it again.
It was a good way for us to bond as well. I loved spending time with her. She was fun, good-natured and easy to talk to. I wish we had done this a long time ago.
After Sarah and I finished washing the dishes, it was time to go to be-d. I got upstairs and put on my pajamas and got re-ady for be-d.
I was now taking up my book to do my nightly re-ading, when I heard a clink on my window.
Putting down the book again, I walked over to the window and draw the curtains open. I looked out to see Tyler at his window grinning like a Cheshire cat.
I scowled at him. “Why are you always doing that?”
He continued to smile. “Because it’s fun.” As he said that he climbe-d up on his window sill and sat down. His feet dangling over the edge.
I swear this boy was crazy. I don’t un-derstand how he could do that. Wasn’t he afraid he would fall?
Realizing that Tyler was just sitting there, not saying anything, I brou-ght my focus to him and crossed my arms. “Is there something that you want?”
A sheepish grin c@m£ on his face. “I want to apologize about the other day.” He said finally. “You were right.” He added in a quiet voice.
I looked at him disbelievingly. “Is Tyler King admitting to being wrong?” I tea-sed.
He crossed his arms and s£nt a glare my way. “Couldn’t you have let me apologized without saying anything?” He asked.
“Nope,” I replied. “Where is the fun in that?” I laughed out loud as I mimicked his earlier words. I then began to pu-ll away from the window. “Good night, Tyler.”
“Wait!” I c@m£ back to the window when I heard Tyler’s voice. “I was hoping we would continue with our fake d@t!ng.”
I sighed and rest my hands on the window sill. “Is this really a good idea?”
“Of course it is. I c@m£ up with it.” Tyler answered.
I rolled my eyes. “Do you always have to be full of yourself?”
He just sm-irked at me, then ask. “So, what do you say?”
I thought about it for a while. “Okay fine, but no more ma-king out or flir-ting with girls in public. If you must, do it in pri-vate.”
Tyler nodded his head. “Deal. Same thing goes for you too.”
I rolled my eyes once again. As if I’ll be ma-king out with boys. “Deal.” I replied nonetheless.
Tyler jumped off his window and grinned at me mischievously. “Good. My mom is having family over tomorrow and invited you.”
“What?!” I exclaimed. Tyler continued to grin as he entered his room.
“Tyler King, you get back here right now!” I whisper-yelled.
“Be here at seven!” He shouted over his shoulder.
“I hate you so much right now!” I said. I only heard his laughter from inside his room.
Letting out an annoyed huff, I moved away from my window and closed it shut. That boy was so infuriating. He didn’t asked if I wanted to go.
I know for sure that it’s going to be so difficult to pretend to be Tyler’s girlfriend in front of his whole family. This is going to be so awkward.
Pushing that thought at the back of my mind, I got in my be-d again. I didn’t bother taking up my book that I was going to re-ad. I just went straight to be-d and fell asleep instantly.

Episode 18

THE FAMILY DINNER
………………………….
I still can’t believe I’m going to Tyler’s family dinner. I hate family dinners.
I don’t even like attending my own family’s dinner and yet here I am. He’s going to owe me big time for this.
I took a de-ep sigh to mentally and physically prepare for this night and take a look in my full length mirror. I look simple which was what I was going for. I was in a simple casual light purple dress that I got for Christmas and my brown sandals.
My hair was caught in a messy ponytail. I put my phone into my small shoulder bag and went downstairs.
My father and Sarah were laughing in the living room when I went down the stairs.
I couldn’t help the smile that took over my face when I saw then together. I was so glad that my father was happy again. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
“I’m leaving now.” I announced, drawing their attention.
Dad looked up at me. “Okay sweetheart. Have a good time.” He said.
“And plea-se say hello to Rachel for me.” Sarah added.
“Okay, thanks. I will.” I waved at both of them and head to the front door.
Once I was on the front porch, I took a look over at Tyler’s house. I heaved a heavy sigh. The backyard was alre-ady buzzing with people and all the lights were on inside and outside the house.
I had no idea it would be so many people. I started to feel nervous. I checked my watch and saw that it was ten minutes to seven.
I took another sigh, but this time it was to calm my nerves. You can do this, Emily , I thought to myself. Just go over there, be yourself and before you know it, this will all be over.
With gained confidence, I stepped from my front porch and walked over to Tyler’s house. I knocked on the front door and Tyler answered.
A mischievous grin crossed his face. “Good, you made it.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I said as I stepped inside the living room. “You’re lucky I turned up.”
“Oh come on. This is not going to be bad.” He replied.
“Not for you, but this is going to be torture for me.” I countered.
Tyler just laughed at me and stretched out his hands for me to take. I looked at the outstretched hands for a few seconds, before I sighed and took it.
He then led us throu-gh the living room, the dining hall and finally throu-gh the back door where most of the guests were gathered.
Tyler led me in the direction of where is mother stood with three other people. Rachel looked in our direction and smiled when she saw us.
“Hello Emily. I’m glad you could make it. It’s good to see you again.” Rachel said, as we finally reached where they stood and she surprised me by pu-lling me into a hvge hvg.
She drew back and looked towards her companions. “Emily, these are my sisters, Patricia and Wendy and our uncle, Trevor.”
She indicated each one as she called their names. She then turned to me again. “This is Emily, Tyler’s girlfriend.”
“Hi, nice meeting you.” Wendy said, giving me a big friendly smile. I waved at them as the others expressed the same s£ntiments.
Half an hour later, I had met and chatted with Tyler’s family members. Cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. They were all friendly, loving and easy to talk to.
Throu-ghout the whole interlude, Tyler never let go of my hands even though many times I was tem-pted to pu-ll my hands out of his. I didn’t, because I could not make anything look suspicious and ruin the whole thing.
After all, everyone was convince of our relationsh!pand I wanted it to stay that way.
After this, it was time to eat. Everyone gathered around a large table that was set up in the backyard. The table was full with all sorts of foods and desserts.
The dinner was actually great and I had to admit I liked Tyler’s family. Although, I squirmed in my seat a few times as Tyler’s cousins tea-sed us about our relationsh!p.
After dinner, Tyler and I were sitting on a bench near the back door of the house eating chocolate cake. I was enjoying this cake so much because I loved chocolate cake.
“So, you can’t say coming to this dinner p@rty was a bad idea now.” Tyler said.
“Of course it was.” I replied as I put a bite of cake into my mouth.
“Oh, come on. You can’t fool me. I know you had a good time.” Tyler grinned knowingly at me.
I laughed. “Okay Tyler, you’re right. I did have a great time.” I confessed. He smiled, proud of himself. “I especially liked the p@rt where Trevor kept calling you, ‘Ty Ty’. That name suits you well.”
Tyler glared at me and I couldn’t help but bur-st into laughter. He was so fun to tease. “It’s not funny.” He said.
“Of course it’s not, Ty Ty.” I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to suppress my laughter.
He continued to glare at me and I stuck my ton-gue out at him. He did the same. I used my right hand to nudge his shoulder. “You’re so immature.”
He chuckled at my accusation. “Look who’s talking.”
I looked down at my plate and noticed that my plate was empty.
Tyler’s plate still have a piece of cake on it and I used my fork to swipe it from his plate and quic-kly shoved it into my mouth.
“Hey!” Tyler protest. “That wasn’t very nice.”
I grinned at him as I chew the delicious and yummy cake. I noticed that some icing had catch the corner of my mouth because of my fast movements. I was about to use my ton-gue to get it, when Tyler used is thumb to wipe it off my mouth and put it in his.
My eyes wi-den with surprise at his actions. “Tyler, what are you–?”
The rest of my s£ntence left myl-ips as Tyler’s aunt, Wendy walked by us. She smiled when she saw us.
“Aww…isn’t that lovely? You two are the cutest couple. Reminds me of when I was young and in love.”
I felt my cheeks heat up at her words.
If only she knew the truth. We were the opposite of cute and in love. Wendy smiled at us and went inside the house throu-gh the back door.
“Great.” I said, when she was gone. “I can’t believe she saw that.” My cheeks were still h0t with embarras-sment.
Tyler laughed at me. “Nothing is wrong with that. After all, we are a cute and loving couple.” He tea-sed.
Now it was my time to glare at him. “You’re enjoying this aren’t you?”
“Of course. It’s payback for calling me ‘Ty Ty’.” He explained.
I roll my eyes. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Yeah, unbelievably S-xy.” He win-ked at me.
I sma-cked him on the shoulder. “If you’re done dreaming, can I go home now?”
He stood up from the bench and took a bow. “Of course.”
I rolled my eyes once again and stood up. After saying goodbye to everyone, Tyler walked me all the way to my front door.
“You didn’t have to walk me the entire journey, you know.” I said to him.
“I know, but I don’t want to look like a bad b©yfri£nd.” He grinned.
I shook my head at him. “Good night you moron.”
“Good night.” He replied, then turned and walk back to his house. I opened up the front door and went inside.
