Episode 17

“Mac I’m sorry,” I sobbe-d covering my face with my hands.
“What’s wrong?!” Mac gr@bb£d me by my shoulders. His strong hands were squee-zing them.
“I feel terrible,” tears trickled down my cheeks. I buried my head into his che-st and wra-pped my arms around his w@!st hvgging him ti-ghtly. “I have been so selfish.”
“Its okay Patty,” his voice was soft and soothing as he ru-bbe-d my back in slow circular motions. “I love you.”
I let out a loud sob. Why couldn’t I say it back to him? Darn it Hunter.
Looking up at him, I puckered up. “I love you too Mac. I love you too.”
A hvge smile formed across Mac’s plumpl-ips and he k!$$£d me gently.
His k!ssalways felt so welcoming and pas-sionate but I felt empty. Mac didn’t deserve this, I was going to love him because he was worth it. Hunter wasn’t.
“Patty,” he p@n-ted throu-gh our k!sses and his hand travelled up my back beneath my shi-t. “The things you do to me.”
I giggled and buried my head into his n£¢k inhaling his beautiful scent. “I love you so much.”
That night Mac stayed over and sle-pt beside me in my be-d. I felt guilty in my heart enough was enough. No more Hunter.

There he was, leaning against his locker talking to a bunch of guys. My heart started to beat so fast as soon as I saw him. He ran his f!ngersthrou-gh his hair laughing at something one of the other guys had said.
He head turned to me and a smile formed upon his thinl-ips. Raising his hand he waved to me. I gulped. Hunter was acting totally normal like nothing had happened yesterday.
Taking little steps, I walked up to him. As he saw me walking to him, he took steps towards me leaving his friends behind.
“Hey Flabby,” he sm-irked messing up my hair and I sl@pped his hand away.
“Hunter,” I took a de-ep breath and handed him the shopping bag. “I can’t wear this to prom.”
His face fell and he shook his head,” no Patty, I can’t take it back now.”
“plea-se Hunter,” I insisted. “If Mac found out…
“fv¢k Mac,” he frowned. “I got it for you. You’re going to where that to Prom whether you go with me or not.”
“What is your problem with Mac anyway?” I frowned too.
“Nothing,” he replied bluntly.
“I can’t wear this,” I shoved the bag into his hands. “I am sorry.”
Hunter didn’t utter another word and took the bag, turned and started to walk away. I ran after him. What the hell was his deal?
“Hunter wait,” I p@n-ted. He literally walked too fast. “Why do you act like that?”
“Like what?” his voice was blunt and he didn’t even look at me. I tugged his sleeve ma-king him st©p.
“I nee-d to ask you something,” I clutched his sleeve so he wouldn’t walk away again. “How did you know?”
“Know what?” he asked confusingly.
“That Mac wouldn’t have alre-ady told me about his Dad?”
Hunter’s face went completely pale and he opened his mouth to say something but no voice or words c@m£ out.
“Tell me,” I said firmly.
“I don’t owe you any explanation,” he shove my hand off his sleeve.
“Actually you fv¢king do!”
“Watch your potty mouth, Flabby,” Hunter whispered r0ûghly and leaned in close towards me.
His usual minty breath made my hair stand on it ends. My b©dy stiffened thinking he was going to k!ssme. “Don’t make me wash your dirty mouth in a way I know best.”
I shut my eyes as I felt something brush against myl-ips. jo-lting my eyes open, I saw Hunter’s back towards me as he walked away. So i had been imagining that.
But, at least I got to give him the dress back.
“Patty?” I heard Mac’s voice behind me and my b©dy stiffened again. Damn it!
“Hey Mac,” I turned to look at him, my voice sounding shaky. Ugh.
“Are you okay?” he asked softly planting a soft k!sson my cheek.
Nodding, I stood on ti-ptoe and ca-ressed hisl-ips. “All is swell.”
Mac grinned showing off his amazing dimples. “Good girl.”
“By the way Mac,” I said wra-pping my f!ngersaround his. “Can I come see your mom after school?”
“What?!” He blurted out. I stared at him surprised by his response. “Why?”
“Because I should have gone to see her,” I squee-zed his hand. “Besides I want to be there for you and her.”
“You.. uhh.. don’t have to Patty,” he stammered as his face went pale.
“But i want to,” I said tou-ching his cheek softly. Either he was really upset about his mother or he was still hiding something.
“Next week maybe,” he faked a smile and I nodded.

“Here’s my personal statement Angie,” I handed her a page. “I hope that’s good enough to get me into Beaconsfield University.”
Angie adjusted her spectacles and skimmed throu-gh it. “Looks decent.”
Nodding nervously, I pla-yed with the strings on my hoodie.
“I see you’ve been getting a lot with a lot of people lately,” Angie sm-irked at me. I knew she was talking about Mac.
Obviously, everyone at school knew I was d@t!nghim.
“Its just Mackenzie,” I flu-shed and looked down at my hands.
“Patricia,” Angie spoke and I looked up at her serious face. “Remember to keep the people who look out for you, closer.”
I couldn’t tell who she was referring to. Hunter never looked out for me. Besides having feelings for him, all he did was make my life miserable.
But my heart couldn’t help racing everytime I saw him.
“Ofcourse Angie,” I smiled.

I tossed and turned in be-d all night but couldn’t fall asleep for some reason.
Either it was bloody Hunter on my mind, Mac or I was just worried about getting into Beaconsfield University.
Or maybe it was all three.
Glancing at the digital clock on my side table, I gro-an ed. 2:03.
I texted Mac but I got no reply from him, might have sle-pt. Avery never replied either. So my only option, you might have guessed alre-ady.
Patricia Smith : you there?
No reply. He must have sle-pt too. But after ten minutes my phone beeped.
Hunter Reyes : How may I be of service?
Patricia Smith : Can’t sleep.
Hunter Reyes: shouldn’t you be telling Mac that?
Patricia Smith : he’s asleep
Hunter Reyes: so you thought you could wake me
Patricia Smith : I am sorry i didn’t mean to wake you
Hunter Reyes: Relax Flabby its all good 😉
Patricia Smith : sooo…
Hunter Reyes: s£nd me nûd£s
Patricia Smith : Can you like not be an as-s for once?
Hunter Reyes : You like it de-ep down, admit it 😉
Patricia Smith: No 🙂
Hunter Reyes: hahahahahahahahah you’re in denial
Patricia Smith: fv¢k off
Hunter Reyes: Technically you messaged me first so
Oh cra-p. I had made up my mind to stay away from Hunter. So why the hell had I messaged him.
Patricia Smith: Hunter ?
Hunter Reyes: Yeah Flabby
Patricia Smith: Why now? Why after all this time you decided to ask me to prom?
Hunter Reyes : Why can’t you just let it go?
Patricia Smith : because you confuse me!
Hunter Reyes: That’s because you let it confuse you
Patricia Smith: Hunter plea-se. Don’t you think you have made me suffer enough
Hunter Reyes : I never meant for you to suffer. All I ever wanted was for you to be happy
Patricia Smith: Well you had a really cra-ppy way of showing it.
Hunter Reyes: You’ll laugh at me if I tell you
Patricia Smith: try me
My heart started thumping like hell against my ribs as I watched the screen. He was typing some bloody essay that took him so long to s£nd.
Hunter Reyes: I have been in love with you as long as I can remember. When we were in middle school i had this hvge crush on you. The way you would sit in the corner, re-ading or scribbling away in your notebook.
My friends made fun of me for liking you so to escape their teasing I started to.. tease you. I thought I would get your attention and I did. There was no other way for me to get you to notice me but I guess I scre-wed up Patty.
My jaw dropped open and I stared at my phone screen. In love with me? Hunter felt the same way about me.
Patricia Smith: oh
I felt so stupid for typing that.
Hunter Reyes : Exactly. It doesn’t matter anymore because I’ve lost my chance.
Patricia Smith : Yeah
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Hunter Reyes : lol. Bye Flabby

Episode 18

My b©dy felt extremely heavy as did my eyelids. I lifted the covers off me and my b©dy started to shiver. Oh great.
Every p@rt in my b©dy was aching. I definitely had a temperature which meant no school. To be honest I was a little relieved so I didn’t have to face Hunter.
The heat was rising in my b©dy and I couldn’t even move. Mum had checked my temperature with a thermometer and I definitely had a fever.
I texted Mac drowsily telling him that I won’t be going to school because I was sick. Before I knew it, the meds kicked in, and I drifted off to sleep.

A slight t©uçh of a warm hand on my face, woke me up. It took me a while to realize the familiar feeling of that soft skin against my face.
Smiling to myself, I gr@bb£d his hand. “Mac..”
“It’s Hunter,” his voice spoke r0ûghly and i jo-lted awake. quic-kly, I let go off his hand and saw him standing beside my be-d, staring down at me.
“What are you doing here?!” I coughed feeling embarras-sed.
“You texted me you were sick,” he flu-shed and ru-bbe-d the back of his n£¢k. “So I got worried. Your mum let me in.”
“But..” my eyes got big and I gr@bb£d my phone checking my texts. It was clearly s£nt to Mac. “Wait a minute, I don’t even have your number.”
“Don’t mind that,” he laughed nervously. “How are you feeling?”
“Did Mac tell you?”
He nodded and placed his hand on my forehead. “You’re h0t.”
“I know,” i sighed closing my eyes. His hand felt so comfortable and warm. I shivered beneath the quilt and clutched it over my head.
“Patty,” he spoke softly. “You want me to warm you up?”
“No,” i blurted out. “I don’t want you to get sick too!”
“Its okay,” he was smiling gently when i pu-ll-ed off the quilt. His eyes slightly squinted as usual.
“I don’t mind sharing my health with you.”
Without another word, I scooted to one side ma-king space for him to sit. But to my shock, Hunter pu-ll-ed off his sneakers and slid into be-d beside me.
Gosh, I stank and looked like $h!t. Why did he have to do this now?
Facing me, he la-id down so close that i could feel his breath on my face. So fv¢king warm.
My heart would have st©pped beating in that instance. The way he looked at me, with his eyes glancing repeatedly to myl-ips and then my face.
There was no doubt. I loved him. Had I always loved him?
“Patty,” he whispered moving in close to me. I thought he was going to k!ssme!
Wra-pping his strong arms around my b©dy, he pu-ll-ed me to his che-st. I buried my head into his che-st memorizing every heart beat of his. He made me feel safe, protected and all that good stuff.
His hands ru-bbe-d my back gently as he rested his chin on the t©p of my head.
His heart was racing just as fast as mine was. He smelled like cinnamon and french toast.
“Did you have breakfast?” I mumbled softly. I don’t know how I managed to choke out those words.
“Yes,” he whispered gently moving his hands to the back of my n£¢k. “French toast.”
“Mhm, i thought so,” i closed my eyes and inhaled his amazing scent. Mac never made me feel so secure and warm. cudd-ling with Hunter wiped away half of my sickness. I didn’t think one person could have that much effect on me.
“Patty,” Hunter pushed me back gently and stared down into my eyes. “I can’t control myself anymore.”
My cheeks turned red and I blinked. “W-wha..”
With hisl-ips slightly p@rted, Hunter placed hisl-ips on mine. My b©dy felt weak and I started to tremble. His k!sswas nothing like Mac’s. Nothing like that at all.
My heart hurt and i wanted more. Hunter p@rted myl-ips with his ton-gue and I g@sped.
“Sorry,” he p@n-ted pu-lling away. The hor-mones in my b©dy were screaming for more.
“Don’t st©p,” I blurted out and regretted it that instance. Hunter let out a nervous chuckle and his beautiful cheeks were pink too.
So he k!$$£d me again.
The way his t©uçh ignited my soul was indescribable. Placing his hand below my n£¢k, he p@rted myl-ips with his ton-gue again and this time I let him.
Our ton-gues melted onto one another and i could taste french toast along with cinnamon. It was the most glorious feeling in the whole wi-de world.
Pressing his b©dy against mine, Hunter k!$$£d me ha-rder and ha-rder. In that moment, nothing existed anymore. Just me and him.
His f!ngerstrailed down my b©dy memorizing every inch and every curve. He was driving me insane and I just wanted to be his for eternity.
“I never knew you were an amazing k!ss£r Patty,” Hunter breathed breaking the k!ss. “You make me so crazy.”
“I do?” I asked. Such a stupid question.
There was a knock on my door and Hunter literally jumped off my be-d. “Can I come in?”
“Yes,” Hunter called out fixing his shi-t and hair. I quic-kly pu-ll-ed the quilt over my head pretending to be asleep.
Mom c@m£ bur-sting in. “How is she feeling now?”
“G-good ma’am,” i heard Hunter stammer. I peeked at him from un-der the blanket he was as red as tomato. I smiled to myself.
“Tell me if you guys nee-d anything,” mom said and walked out of my room.
Hunter pu-ll-ed off my blanket and looked at me, sm-irking. “That was close huh.”
I bur-st out laughing and he joined. He jumped on t©p of me and we both cu-mddled laughing away together.
I had never felt so happy for being sick my entire life.
