Michael’s POV (cont’d)

Me: time 4 plan B…… Give me the petrol.
Lara: What is plan B?
Me : i have to distract it or else it will kill us all.
Zara: i will help you.
.
Then we come down from the bridge and started shooting at the snake to draw it away from them.
.
Me: zara put the arrow head inside the petrol and put fire and get re-ady to shoot.
.
Immediately she use stones to light the arrow i throw the petrol at the snake and zara shoot at it and it explodes but it has no effect on it and it uses it tail to hit us which threw us up and we fell then it charge at us it was about to hit us again then it says….
.
JAYIRA: hmmmmmmmm. i know what you are trying to do but I’m coming back for you.
Then it went against my friends but they have all cross the bridge and they are waiting for me and the snake is alre-ady on the bridge towards them.

Me :ohh noooo…… CUT THE ROPE…….CUT THE ROPE NOW (i shouted) .
Joy: what about you?
Me: dont worry about me,i will find another way just cut the rope.

Then daniel cut the rope and the snake fell the snake fell down,i look down and see far it is, i dont think it can survive the fall.

Me: you have to go to the portal before it close.
joy: what about you, how will you get out?, the bridge is destroyed alre-ady.
me: just go first before it closes and dont worry about me , i will find a way out.
lara: zara, is there any other portal?
zara : according to what i heard there are only two portal, this one here and the other one which you people pas-s throu-gh but that one cannot be found,
the place is confusing no one pas-ses throu-gh that portal and find his/her way only few people know it.

me: we have no choice but to find it ………..now go before it close
joy: we will wait for you at the other portal…..ok

Me: ok…….but if you haven’t seen us plea-se dont enter or else you will be lost again.

After they’ve all enter throu-gh the portal after a while the portal close, zara and i went back to her place to wait for another month for the portal to open again.

Joy’s POV

After the twelve of us c@m£ out of the portal, we c@m£ out to an unknown place so we walk for some time before we find our way out the woods.
After a while people are looking at us weirdly,then one of them c@m£ to meet us.

Man: aren’t you the student whose parent have been searching for?.
Joy: yes we are…and we nee-d to go home plea-se.

Mrs Peter’s POV
.
i was at home watching the news when i heard that the children have been found and they are being interviewed,i jump up immediately i was feel with joy, i quic-kly went to change my cloth and left the house.
i called my husband on my way to the school and told him to meet me there.
immediately i reached there the place was filled with crowd and i saw the children but i couldn’t find my son then i started looking around for him.

Me: where is my son?….where is michael….mike where are you? .
joy: good evening ma, my name is joy and you must be michael’s mom
me : yes i am, so where is he?….he was with you guys right?
joy:i’m sorry he didn’t come out with us
me: what do you mean come out, come out from where?
joy: from where we are being held captive.

oh noooo……i couldn’t listen anymore before i fainted.

Joy’s POV
.
i really feel bad for what mrs peter was going throu-gh and i hope michael find a way out if any one could it’s michael.
After mrs peter was rushed to the ambulance after she fainted ,the press c@m£ to us and ask us question.

Press: what happen to you guys?
Me: we were kidnapped.
Press: by who?
Me: they are called the zogara clan
Press: where did they take you?
Me: to a unseen land called the badlands which you can only enter throu-gh a portal.
Press: i guess that explain why they couldn’t find your trace.so where are your teachers and the rest?
Me: our teachers are the first to be killed.

ahhhhhhhhh…….the people exclaim.
press: what about the rest of your clas-smates?.

Me: they are all dead except michael,he couldn’t come with because he sacrifice himselve so that we can come home.

Mrs chigozie(sandra’s mother): whaat about my daughter?
Me: i’m soorry ma… sssshhe couuldn’t maakke it.(crying) Then she also started crying.

After a while i saw my mom running towards me and she hvg me.
mom: thank God you are safe…..are you alright?
me: yes mom.

After Hours of questions and answers we all went home,those that found their child went back with happiness and those that dont went back the opposite and i really feel bad for them we are all suppose to come out alive.

it another month and i’m sure the portal is open,i have called daniel and the rest so that we can wait for michael
at the other portal where we are being kidnapped.

mum: joy, your friends are here looking for you
me: ok mum, i’m coming
Then i entered the parlour and met only 6 of them.

me: daniel, where are the rest?
Daniel: they wants to come along but their parents didn’t allow them saying they dont want to lose them again.
me: but we are not going there alone…….the police and everyone will be there .

where are you going…..My mom asked as she entered. then i remembered that she is not aware.
me: ohh..sorry mom i totally forgot to tell you that we are going to meet mike.
mom:oh really……is he back?
Me: no mum,he will be back today so we are going to meet him at the place that we went for excursion.
Mom: hell no, i’m allowing you to go there again…never.
me: mum, how can you even say that, i’ve forgotten that mike is the reason we are all alive today.
mom: of course and i’m grateful for that but i’m not letting you go there again period.
me: you cant say that mom………so i’m going whether you like it or not.
mom: what has gotten into you…..you dont even listen to me again your own mother.
me: you are right mom i’ve change because when we are in that place we have no parent or guidance to care for us, so we look out for ourselves and be there for each other, so mom nothing you can say will make me change my mind.

Then we all left, we are still on our way to board a bus when my mom parked her car beside us and told us to enter.

me: i’m sorry for how i acted earlier mom.
mom:it ok i un-derstand you acted out of love but you should also un-derstand what i’m trying to say.
me: i do mom

Michael’s POV
.
zara and i are re-ady to go but we have to be careful because we heard that the people are preparing to have another ritual, i dont think the snake is dead and also we’ve been hearing a very loud roar coming from the cave,so we have to be very careful , we gather our weapon, guns,dagger,bow and arrow and also the petrol then we left.

me: zara are you re-ady to kill anything.
zara: you know i am……..but i’m worried about the snake if it s-en-se that i’m leaving it will come after me.
me: more reason why we have to be re-ady for anything……….now listen to how we are going to kill the snake,
we are going to throw the petrol to its mouth and shoot at it with that it will die.
zara: are you sure its going to work?
me: it will but let just pray it die this time around.

Michael’s POV
.
we’ve been looking for the portal for some hours nw but we couldn’t find it,
we are still looking for it when we see the badlanders shooting arrow at us but we manage to dodge it and retaliate back.
.
They keep on pursuing us but we kill them all because i’m using gun,zara is using poisonous arrow while they are using just arrow.
.
The day is getting dark alre-ady and we haven’t found it yet and the strange thing is that immediately the sun set the people hunting us has gone back.
.
Me: zara, why are they going back?
zara: oh no,i forgot…….. we have to go back now.
Me: why….what happen?
zara: immediately the sun set the snake will be out.
me: let go back…..we will have to continue tomorrow.
.
we went back home and wait for tomorrow to come even if we plan to fight the snake, i’m very sure we wont be able to fight it because we are tired alre-ady.

Joy’s POV
.
About two hours after we reach there we saw the police alre-ady arrested five people and they told us that they c@m£ out of the forest.
.
But they dressed differently this time i guess it was for disguise. Then mrs peter went to meet one of them.
.
Mrs Peter: so it is true that you people kidnap my son where is my son…..WHERE IS MY SON (she shouted).
.
we all wait for a whole day but we didn’t see mike, mike’s mom is really worried and also eager to see her son.
me: mrs peter’s ,we have to go now and come back tomorrow …..it late alre-ady.

we all left the place and we lodge in to one of the h0tel around there.

(4 days later)

we have been coming here four the past five days but still cant see mike and we are all worried but we still have hope.

Me: should we enter into the forest to search for him?
Daniel: i don’t think that’s a very good idea……..what if we go there and get lost again then michael’s sacrifice will be in vain.
Me: are you saying we should just stay here and do nothing?
Daniel: we have to …..if anyone can make it out alive it’s michael.
me: i really hope so?

Michael’s POV
.
we’ve been searching for the portal for several days now but we couldn’t find it and today is the last day,

me: zara, we have to find this portal today cause i cant wait another month in this deadly forest for the portal to open again.
zara : can you remember the first place you were attacked.
me: i dont think i can cause everywhere around that place look the same………..but wait what if we find the b©dy of my teachers that are killed,
i’m very sure if we can find their b©dy we will be able to see the portal.
zara: lets go then to find them,now i think we have a clue.

we left the place to the forest to look for the b©dy and we searched for several hours but we couldn’t the b©dy,
this time around the badlanders are not pursuing us.
.
The sun is setting alre-ady and we haven’t it yet after a while a found a b©dy desiccated with an arrow on the head then i know that this is the exact place that mr Phil!pwas killed when we first c@m£ here.

Zara,i found it…..i shouted …….and immediately she c@m£ over to me.

we are trying to look for where the portal is where we hear a very loud roar coming towards us.
zara: we have to go back the snake is coming towards us.

Me: i’m not going back ….i’m not going to let this portal close today….and if the snake come …..it either i kill it or it kill me
Zara: then lets fight it together.

we keep searching for the portal but after a while we found it.
zara: mike, its here i found it, hurry lets go before it close.
.
we were going towads the portal but suddenly something hit us from nowhere which s£nt us flying and hit the tree.

By the time we get up we saw the snake before us .
.
JAYIRA: ahhhhhh……wwee meeeeet aagainn.
Me: yh…and it’s going to be the last time we meet we are going to meet.
.
It open it mouth and charge at us then i pick up two keg of petrol and throw it in it mouth,it use it mouth to grind the keg to pieces and spit it out but it has swallow the petrol then i shouted. ZARA NOW.
.
zara pick up two stone to start fire but couldn’t because she was nervous then the snake hit her with it tail which s£nt her flying and hit the tree.
Then it c@m£ at me and use it hand to hold my n£¢k and carry me up to it face.

JAYIRA : yoouu seee yoouu caannot esccappe frrom mme.

Then i surrender myself and started thinking i cant believe our plans fail…..so this is how it ends….. after all we’ve been throu-gh….. So this is how I’m going to die.
Then i think about my mom.
Me: so i wont be seeing my mum again…..Mom I’m sorry it had to be like this…plea-se take care of yourself.

then i think about our teachers i remember mrs Adigun the only woman to follow us on this trip, then mr Audu our chemistry teacher i remember funny he was while we are in school,i also remember Mr Phil!phow i caught him smoking……… WAIT… WAIT….. HE GAVE ME A LIGHTER….. HE GAVE ME A LIGHTER.

I quic-kly check my pocket and i found it so i quic-kly on the lighter and throw it in it’s mouth, it caught fire immediately which make it to throw me away and i hit my head on a rock and i went unconscious.

ZARA’ POV
.
i look up and i see mike throw something inside it mouth and it caught then it started burning and screaming destroying everything i also ran away from the sp©t so that i wont be hit by it tail.
.
I went to meet mike and found him unconscious and his head was bleeding and i looked around and found the snake alre-ady dead on the ground and still burning.
.
I dragged him to the portal cause i cant carry him then we c@m£ out to another place decorated differently .
.
Joy’s POV
.
Some of us are crying alre-ady…..we’ve been praying and waiting since morning but can’t see any sign of him but after a while we heard a voice i think that is zara calling Michael.
.
Me: Michael…. Michael are you there….. Why is he not coming out…….it getting dark alre-ady …. And it’s the fifth day and the portal will soon close .
After a while that we didn’t see mike we went back cause its really dark and the place is really scary.
Mrs peter: is he there?….. is my son?…..where is he?.
Me: I’m sorry ma we didn’t see him.
Mrs Peter’s : what are you trying to say….. Are you saying my son is dead?……. He cant be dead……. My own mike is not dead.
Me: ma I’m not saying that he’s dead……. Dont worry ma we will come back by next mo…………
Samuel: Mike….. Michael………. Hey Guys there they are (he shout).

We all ran to the sp©t but we found him unconscious.
Mrs.peter: Michael…….. What happen to him?……what happen to my son?…….. Is he alright?
.
We quic-kly take him to the hospital and he was treated.
Then the doctor c@m£ out and told us is that his condition is stable.

Me: zara what happened?
Zara: he got injured when we were fighting JAYIRA but it’s dead now.
me: JAYIRA?……. It’s still alive?……. I thought it died when he fell off the bridge.
Zara: that’s what we also think but after some days we started hearing a very loud roar then few days ago we realized that the people are getting re-ady for another sacrifice.
Me:yeah we alre-ady arrest the five people that are s£nt to kidnap another children to be used.

Michael’s POV
.
I open my eyes and every thing is blurry after it all become clear and i realised that I’m in the hospital and i started to think how i got here…..did we make it out alive…or are we still in the badlands or I’m i in heaven but is there hospital in heaven……. I was still thinking when i heard someone shouting…………. He has woke up.
.
After a while i see my mom and my friend and some other people rushed in to my ward.
Michael thank God you are Alive……. She said.
.
Daniel: hey big boy….. I’m glad you are save.
Joy: welcome back mike….. I know you could do it.
Everyone welcomed me and also thank me even some are calling me a Hero. I saw zara she was dressed in yellow go-wn and she look really beautiful in it.

(months later)
The school was lock down for 3 month after then the school resumed.
.
The 13th of us that escaped the badlands was given scholarsh!pto study abroad by the government.
.
Zara Also started schooling sponso-red by the school.
So guys that’s my story about our EXCURSION INTO THE DEADLY FOREST CALLED THE BADLANDS.
