(MARCELLUS PALACE~ KING ROMANO CHAMBER)
It was past eight in the night and Romano wasn’t back from the council. This was unusual since he was supposed to be back. But now, he wasn’t back and Caterina was deeply worried.
Caterina paced back and forth in the living room, her thoughts racing. It was unlike Romano to be out this late, and she couldn’t help but worry about him. Where could he be? And why hadn’t he contacted her to let her know that he was running late? The more she thought about it, the more her anxiety grew.
Her eyes went to the message she sent to him but there wasn’t any reply yet. That added more to her anxiety. She wore her flip-flops and walked out of the room, holding her phone in her hand. He might call me – those were her thoughts.
As she walked down the hallway, she suddenly stopped walking when she heard whispering voices coming from a particular room. She shrugged and attempted to leave with the thought that it was the maids when a particular voice stopped her.
“When are we executing the mission of killing her?” The voice belonged to Jenna and Caterina was shocked. Kill? Who?.
Caterina’s mind raced as she tried to process what she had just heard. Kill? Was someone planning to kill someone? But who? And why? She felt a wave of fear wash over her, and her hands began to shake. She knew she had to do something, but she didn’t know what. Should she confront Jenna? Or should she call the guard? She was frozen in place, unable to move.
“I’m tired of acting like a nice girl all the time, it’s frustrating, to be honest. Faking a smile makes my cheeks hurt” Caterina moved closer to the door and saw it slightly open. She peeked in and saw Jenna
“Listen here, Anaya. No matter how long it takes, just keep doing your work. We’ll surely eliminate him and his wife someday. It might take long but we’ll surely do that. Just keep doing your work and don’t let them suspect you are a spy there” The voice could be heard
A gasp escaped Caterina’s mouth when she heard that. Spy? Wait…Jenna is a spy whose mission is to kill her.
Caterina’s head was spinning as she tried to make sense of what she had just heard. Jenna was a spy? And her mission was to kill her? It didn’t make any sense.
Jenna had always been so kind to her, and she had never given her any reason to suspect her. But now, everything was different. She felt like the rug had been pulled out from under her, and she was left reeling. She didn’t know what to do.
“And you too be careful. And don’t hesitate to let me know whatever is going on” He said
When Caterina felt she had heard enough, She took her steps steadily as she walked out of the place, hastening her steps.
Caterina’s heart was pounding in her chest as she made her way back to her room. She felt like she was in a daze, and she kept replaying the conversation over and over in her head. She knew she had to do something, but she didn’t know what. She felt like she was in a nightmare, and she wanted nothing more than to wake up.
As she reached the king’s Chamber, she locked the door behind her and collapsed onto her bed, her body trembling.
Caterina curled up into a ball, tears streaming down her face. She felt completely overwhelmed and alone. She didn’t know who to trust, and she didn’t know what to do. All she knew was that her life was in danger, and she had to do something to protect herself. But what? She felt powerless, and the thought of Jenna plotting to kill her was more than she could bear.
“Your Highness is here” the Royal announcer announced
Caterina wiped her tears away and sat up, trying to compose herself. She took a deep breath, trying to slow her racing heart. She had to appear calm and collected, no matter what was going on inside her head.
She straightened her clothes and took another deep breath, forcing a smile onto her face. When the door opened, she knew she had to play the part of the perfect princess.
“Hey wifey” King Romano smiled and rushed to hug her
Caterina forced herself to smile back at him, even though her heart was still racing. ”
“My king,” she said, her voice shaking slightly.
Romano pulled her close, and she did her best to act like everything was normal. But inside, she was a mess of nerves. She wanted to tell him the truth, but she knew she couldn’t. Not yet.
“I missed you” She rushed to his arms and threw her body to his. Her legs curled around his waist while his hand held her hips.
Romano smiled, his eyes full of love and affection. He held her close, and she could feel his heart beating against her chest. It was a familiar and comforting feeling, and for a moment, she allowed herself to relax into his embrace. But then, she remembered the conversation she had overheard, and she tensed up again. She pulled away slightly, looking up at him.
“I…I have something to tell you,” she said, her voice shaking.
Romano’s brow furrowed, and he looked at her with concern.
“What is it, my love?” he asked, his voice full of worry.
“You can tell me anything.” Caterina took a deep breath, gathering her courage.
“I…I overheard a conversation,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I think someone is plotting against us.” Romano’s eyes widened, and he pulled her close again.
“Who?” he asked, his voice hard.
Caterina hesitated, unsure if she should say the name. But she knew she had to be honest with him.
“Jenna, one of my maids,” she said, her heart pounding in her chest. Romano’s expression turned dark, and he took a step back.
“Jenna?” he repeated, his voice cold. “What did you hear her say?” Caterina swallowed hard, the words feeling like lead in her mouth.
“She…she said that she wanted to kill me,” she said, her voice trembling.
Romano’s face went pale, and he looked like he was going to be sick.
“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice shaking. Caterina nodded, her eyes filling with tears.
“I’m sure,” she said, her voice barely audible. “I heard her say it with my ears.” Romano ran a hand through his hair, his mind racing. “But why?” he asked, sounding lost.
“What did we ever do to her?”
Caterina shook her head, unable to comprehend it herself.
“I don’t know,” she said, her voice full of sadness. “I can’t imagine what could have driven her to this.” Romano’s jaw clenched, and he looked furious.
“We have to do something,” he said, his voice taking on a steely edge.
“No my king, we have to know who sent her here, now I believe what Sophie was trying to tell me the other day,” Caterina said
King Romano nodded
“I’ll keep an eye on her, and have her movement monitored,” he said
” At least you’re back, no one can harm me” she murmured before moving her head just to stare at his face. Immediately she did, Romano captured her lips in his instantly.
Caterina released a soft moan and she relished the pleasure she received from her husband’s lips. Just as they were so engrossed in the kiss
Caterina felt a presence behind them and she broke the kiss. She turned to find Jenna staring at her.
Somehow, Caterina couldn’t bring herself to stare at Jenna the way she had always done. This time, her eyes were filled with disappointment and hatred.
“Good evening, your highness” Jenna greeted while Romano replied with a curt nod. Then his attention went back to Caterina without giving Jenna any further attention.
“Lady Vikky said I should inform you that your dinner is ready?” Jenna said
Caterina turned to her, trying to hide the anger laced in her eyes.
“Tell her my husband and I are not hungry at the moment, “Caterina said
“Oh… Okay,” Jenna walked away. Caterina scoffed inwardly. Who knows if she already poisoned their meal?
“I will informed mother to get new maids for you,but that will be after everything is settled,can you cope?”King Romano asked
“Thank your king”Caterina smiled and hug him
“How’s my prince doing”King Romano said and bent down to kiss her tummy
Caterina smiled despite the tension in the room, her heart warming at the sight of her husband with their unborn child.
“He’s doing well,” she said, her voice soft. “He’s growing every day.” Romano’s eyes lit up, and he placed his hand on her stomach, feeling the tiny life within.
“He’s going to be a strong and healthy boy,” he said, his voice full of pride. Caterina couldn’t help but feel a surge of love for her husband, despite the situation.

(MAIDS ROOM)
Jenna paced back and forth in her room, her mind whirling with thoughts.
She had done everything to she could to ruin Caterina’s life, but nothing had worked. She was desperate
Everyone was sleeping and Jenna couldn’t sleep,she was waiting patently to leave the palace
Actually she heard everything the king and Caterina talked about and Maxim told her to pack her thing and leave the palace before the king will start investigating
Jenna packed her clothes hastily. Her luggages was ready and she rushed to carry them. She knew Romano would definitely come for her.
She needed to leave the palace as soon as possible.
Rushing to the door, she tried to open it to find it locked. She didn’t lock the door, so who did?
She tried again, and still it was the same thing.
She threw the big bag in her hand to the floor and opened the door violently. To her surprise, the door opened with ease and she breathed out in relief.
She hurriedly picked the big bag and flung it over her shoulder. Then, she ran out of the room,heading outside
But then, her whole body froze when she saw him sitting on the couch with his legs and arms crossed. It was as though he was waiting for her. He looked so relaxed.
“Your highness…” She stuttered, the bag dropping to the floor as her whole body felt weak.
“Oh, there’s no need to be so formal,” he said, standing up and approaching her.
“We’re alone, after all. No need to pretend.” Jenna’s heart was pounding in her chest, and she felt like she was going to faint.
“I’m just trying to throw this trash away” Jenna lied even though she knew that was fruitless.
“Trash?” Romano smiled coolly. He got to her and placed a laptop to her front.
“Then, explain this…” Jenna looked down at the laptop and her eyes widened. It was footage of her with Sophie!!
Wait… He knew all along? Her eyes met his to find a terrifying look on his face. She peed on her pants instantly.
“Your highness…” She whispered.
“Tie her up and then lock her in the dark room. Make sure she doesn’t escape or your head will pay for it!” Romano threatened as they tied the helpless Jenna up.
They bundled her to the dark room
