Dear Jocelyn Episode 47 & 48

DEAR
JOCELYN
Episode 47
By: Faith Lucky.

Jocelyn’s Pov:
The news was all over the place – about Rodney holding a surprise p@rty. He’s put in so much money and effort and rumours were, he was trying to propose to me.
Although he wouldn’t disclose his intentions to anyone, those were just the rumours.
I sat in the room with Megan, watching a movie. I noticed she was looking very sad and pallid and I was just trying to keep her company.
I was double tasking – watching the movie and operating my phone.
I kept smiling into my phone as I re-ad the different comments online regarding Rodney’s surprise p@rty:
I’m pretty sure he wants to propose to Jocelyn.
Why is it based on invitation?
He didn’t invite me. Too bad he doesn’t know me.
I really can’t wait for the p@rty. I wonder how Jocelyn’s going to feel.
At last, the two lover birds will be together.
I kept smiling as my heart blossomed. Was Rodney really going to propose to me? I couldn’t wait to find out.
Just then, Megan rushed into the toilet, throwing up and I followed her.
“Megan?” I called as I stood behind her and watched her wash her face and mouth.
“Are you okay? How’re you feeling?” I asked worried, as she dried her face with a napkin.
“I’m…I’m fine” she replied weakly.
“I thought you’ve been taking medications? Why are the symptoms still persisting? Don’t you think you should run a test?” I asked and she sighed and t©uçhed her head.
“I…I think I’ll do it later” she replied dizily.
We returned to the room and not long after, she sle-pt off.
I stayed with her for a while before returning to my own room and not long after I did,I heard someone knocking on my window.
I quic-kly guessed whom it was and when I went to check it out, my guess turned out right.
“Rodney!” I called excitedly as I opened the window and helped him in.
“What are you doing here? My window isn’t a door” I said, trying to sound rebuking and he hvgged me.
“Sorry, I missed my way” he replied and k!$$£d me and we fell on the be-d together.
“So, how’re you today?” He asked as he held me close to himself.
“I’m fine. Rodney, do you know what the time is? You should be home by now” I said.
“Are you chasing me away?” He asked and I smiled.
We went on chatting about little unimportant things but our conversation was interrupted by someone knocking on the door.
“Jocelyn?” Mum called from outside and I g@sped.
“Oh, my God! It’s my mum. Get out Rodney!” I said in a husky whisper as Rodney also thought of what to do.
“What?” He flin-ched.
*
“Jocelyn?” Mum called again and opened the door.
“Mum!” I called with a nervous smile as I dressed my hair backwards.
She closed the door and walked up to me on the be-d.
“Why didn’t you answer the door?” She asked and I twitched.
“Oh! I um…I was just…busy with something. Sorry” I replied and threw a quic-k glance at the other side of the be-d.
“Um…what are you doing here mum?’ I asked and she pu-ll-ed a surprised face.
“What do you mean what am I doing here? I c@m£ to check up on you of course. Is it strange?” She asked with a quizzical look and I laughed dryly.
“Of course, it’s not. Um…its just that” I paused and yawned f0rç£fully.
“I’m kind of feeling dizzy and was trying to catch some sleep when you c@m£ in”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes, mum. Maybe we should just talk tomorrow”.
“O…Okay then.”
I just hope she isn’t suspecting me.
“Goodnight mum” I said as she embr@ced me.
She was about dis£ntangling from the hvg when she noticed something strange on the floor – close to the be-d.
“What’s that?” She asked, stretching her n£¢k to have a proper look.
“Mum…”
“Hold on; what’s that?”
She stood up from the be-d and went to check it out and to her greatest surprise, it was Rodney, lying on the floor.
“What the…Rodney???” She called, taken abacked and Rodney sprang on his feet while I also left the be-d.
“What are you doing here?” She asked and Rodney looked at me, as if waiting for a reply.
“Mrs James!” He called and stretched his b©dy.
Then, he knelt on the floor and looked un-der the be-d.
“Jocelyn, did you say there was something wrong with the be-d? I just checked but couldn’t find any fault with it” he said sarcastically, still looking un-der the be-d and I laughed.
Mum held his ear and drew him up.
“Ouch…”
“How did you get in here, Rodney? Because I’m pretty sure no one has pas-sed throu-gh the sitting room” she grinned at him, still holding his ear.
“Um…M…Mrs James, I can explain. Actually, the sitting room was locked, but Jocelyn’s window was open. So, I…I decided not to disturb anyone and come in throu-gh the window. I was actually on my way to your room to see you” he said.
“Oh! How kind of you. So you had to go throu-gh the stress of climbing throu-gh the window because you didn’t want to disturb anyone?”
“Yes, Mrs James. I’m a very kind person. You probably haven’t noticed.”
He t©uçhed his ear and mum finally let it go.
“And you” she called, turning to me.
“What do you have to say about this?”
“Me? Um…I…I don’t know what to say. I mean, I only asked him to check if there was something wrong with the be-d.” I replied and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Seriously?” She asked and scoffed.
“How long has this kind gesture of yours been going on Rodney?”
“Oh! Just today” he replied and made a slight cough.
Mum stared at us with her hands at akimbo.
“Fine, then! When you’re done fixing the be-d, you get out!” She said peskily and walked out.
I laughed immediately she left, although I was a bit surprised at her reaction. I had feared she’d s£nd Rodney out. But surprisingly, she accepted him.
“So how was that?” Rodney asked as he held me by the w@!st and la-id on the be-d with me.
“We just got lucky Rodney, else she’d have skinned you alive” I replied with a little laughter as I placed my head on his che-st.
“You’re such a crazy lier” I added and he laughed.
We remained silent for a short while.
“By the way, Rodney” I said in a serene tone.
“The surprise p@rty you’re holding, what’s it for?”
He smiled and didn’t reply immediately.
“Well, it’s meant to be a surprise. So, wait for the p@rty and you’ll find out there” he replied and I chuckled.
“Have you seen the comments online?” I asked.
“Everyb©dy’s saying you want to propose to me”
“Hm. As if they’re in my mind. All those jobless gossipers” he replied and I cracked.
“Anyway, since you won’t tell me what the p@rty’s meant for, I won’t attend”.
“You won’t even dare”.
“Oh, really? Well, let’s see about that”.
“You know your threats are always empty Jocelyn”.
He paused and cleared his throat.
“So,,what do you have for me?” He asked and I scoffed.
“What do you mean what do I have for you?” I asked.
“Come on Jocelyn…”
“Rodney, if you’re done fixing the be-d, get out – mum’s orders”.
“Don’t worry, I will when I’m done”.
“When you’re done with what?”
“This”.
I giggled as he tickled me and took off my pyjamas.

DEAR
JOCELYN
Episode 48
By: Faith Lucky.
Jocelyn’s Pov:
“Rodney!” I skrie-ked from sleep and opened my eyes.
I looked around and noticed it was just a bad dream.
I opened my eyes and sat up, tou-ching my forehead. I was kind of feeling head ache.
Then, I remembered the dream I had.
I was standing with Rodney. Then, suddenly, a rift broke out between both of us, ma-king us stand ap@rt.
We tried holding each other but couldn’t as the rift kept getting bigger and bigger until we were finally separated by a long distance.
I recalled it and wondered what it meant. That was the first time I was having such a strange dream about Rodney and I and it was so fearful. It was as if something was going to break us ap@rt.
*
I was so worried about the dream that I could ha-rd ly eat. And to couple it up, I received a very sad news that Mrs Salome had left the state.
I cried my eyes out and tired reaching her on phone, but couldn’t. Instead, I got a letter from her, reminding me of how sorry she was for what she did and reminding me that she’d always love me as her daughter.
*
Later that day, I went to meet Rodney in his house, accompanied by Rachel. I just nee-ded his comfort.
Immediately I arrived, I met him in the sitting room and ran into his arms.
“Hey wats up?” He asked as he held me like a baby.
“Um…Mr Rodney, is Leo at home?” Rachel asked and Leo replied her immediately.
“Who’s asking?”
She turned and saw him climbing down the stairs.
“Hold on, don’t tell me it’s you” he said conceitedly as he stood in front of her and she folded her hands.
“And what if I am?” She asked.
“Well, I’d say it’s a dream because I can’t believe someone like you can care about me” he replied and she scoffed.
“St©p deceiving yourself Leo. I was only hoping you wouldn’t be at home because I couldn’t afford to face a double crossing j£rk like you” she replied.
“Rachel!” I called.
“What? Haven’t I told you what he did to me?”
“You know what, Rachel? Just save your breath. No matter what you do, I’m not gonna apologise to you” Leo said and took a seat, turning on the TV
Rachel glowered her eyes at him and walked out while Rodney and I watched in amusement.
*
I stayed with Rodney in his room but couldn’t get his full attention as he kept ma-king numerous calls. It was probably preparations for his surprise p@rty which was coming up that evening.
I thought of telling him about the dream but quic-kly dispelled it. I felt it was just a dream and perhaps, it had signified Mrs Salome leaving me.
Yes; that’s what the dream meant.
After a while, Rodney started asking me to go home.
“But I don’t feel like leaving yet” I said.
“Come on Jocelyn. The p@rty’s about to start. I nee-d to make some preparations” he replied and dragged me up from the be-d.
“Rodney…”
“Jocelyn plea-se” he said in an appealing tone and led me out of the room.
I frowned as I folded my hands and followed him out to the sitting room, only to meet Rachel and Leo having a serious argument.
I noticed Rachel was now putting on a different shi-t.
“St©p lying Leo. I caught you red handed.” She snapped.
“And I’m telling you, you’re mistaken”
“Hey, what’s going on?” Disney chimed in.
“Oh! Jocelyn, thank God you’re here. You wouldn’t believe what I caught Leo doing this time around” Rachel said.
“Rachel, what happened to your shi-t?” I asked.
“That’s exactly what I’m trying to explain to you, Jocelyn. A maid had mistakenly spilled drink on me and she apologised and gave me a shi-t to change in the guest room. And while I was changing, I caught Leo spying on me” she enthused.
“I wasn’t spying on you. I had no idea you were in the room for God’s sake. And why didn’t you could the door properly?”
“Oh! So now you’re trying to put the blame on me,,right? And if really you claim you weren’t spying on me,,why didn’t you leave immediately you saw me in the room?”
“Well, I was trying to leave before you looked back and saw me.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes. Were you expecting me to just evaporate or something?”
“Rachel!” I finally cut in and sighed.
“Forget about it. These two brothers are kill joys. Let’s get outta here”.
“Finally, you agree with me” Rachel said and followed me out of the house.

Rodney stood next to Leo and watched as both of them walked out stylishly.
“What an attitude” Leo said.
“Yeah” Rodney added with a nod.
Jocelyn’s Pov:
It was just few hours to the p@rty and my anxiety had increa-sed. I couldn’t wait for the outcome of the p@rty.
Was Rodney really going to propose to me?
I was trying to decide on a dress when a maid c@m£ in and told me I was having some guests.
I quic-kly rushed out to check whom It was and there I found about four people – two boys and two girls – standing at the balcony.
One was holding a fashionable polythene bag, while two held heavy hand bags.
“Good evening miss Jocelyn” they greeted in unison as I gave them a surprised look.
“Good evening…how may I be of help?” I asked, taking a proper look at them.
“We were ordered to give this dress to you. You’re to put it on to mr Rodney’s surprise p@rty” the one holding a polythene bag said as she stretched the bag out to me.
I collected it and peeped inside
“Who s£nt you?” I asked, alre-ady having a guess.
“It was Mr Rodney” one of them replied and I smiled.
I took a proper look inside the bag and couldn’t wait to bring out the dress. I could also see some shoes inside.
“Okay thanks a lot. I’ll put it on” I said happily and tried walking inside.
“Excuse me miss” one of them holding a big handbag said and I st©pped to look at them.
“We’re Beauty Glamour makeover artistes and Mr Rodney has instructed us to take care of your facial appearance” the boy among them said and my cheeks turned red.
“Re…Really?” I asked, my face beaming with smiles.
“Yes ma’am” they replied.
I covered my face with my palm and laughed. Rodney was such a darling, wasn’t he?
I brou-ght my hands down from my face and looked at them.
“Okay. You can come In and wait while I um…take my bath” I said and they nodded and went in with me.
I ran upstairs to my room and threw myself on the be-d immediately, giggling. It was obvious the p@rty was all about me.
Yes; it had to be.
I opened the bag and brou-ght out the dress. It was a glittering gold coloured go-wn that was very long and was bound to sweep the floor when I put it on.
Then, the shoes were clas-sy blue heels that had some sparkles on them. I wonder how I’d look on them.
I picked up my phone and thought of calling him but quic-kly changed my mind. So, I called Rachel instead.
I nee-ded to tell her of the good news.
Rodney’s Pov:
I stood in front of the mirror, brushing my hair when mum c@m£ in.
I shut her a stare and smiled and turned back to the mirror.
“Hey mum” I called, not looking at her.
She walked up to me and stood behind me.
“You’re looking good” she complimented and I smiled and turned to face her.
“Thanks” I replied.
She looked at me,, over joyed.
“So…you’re gonna pop the question tonight, right?” She asked as she dressed my collar properly and I nodded with a smile.
She chuckled.
“That’s a great thing, dear. Jocelyn’s a nice lady, anyway. It’ll be great having her around” she said and paused, arranging my tie.
“You have my blessings with you, son” she said and k!$$£d me on the cheek.

TBC.
Who’s getting re-ady for the p@rty?
