Burgundy Episode 17 & 18

BURGUNDY.
Episode 17.
By Amah

When I got home, Sandra was done with ma-king lunch and was cleaning the kitchen up.
My heart was racing as I joined her.
She wanted to set the dining for me to eat but I wasn’t hungry and told her I will eat later. I noticed that her facial expression changed after I said that.
After tidying the kitchen up she started walking out with a kitchen napkin which she was using to wipe her we-t hands.
She threw the napkin carelessly on the dining table and I knew she was angry.
I rushed to her.
“My love what is it…did I do anything wrong?
She pu-ll-ed away from my arms and said.
“I should be asking you that. Ever since yesterday you have been acting strange. I got tired of asking you what the problem was. I know something is bothering but you have refused to open up. Did I do anything wrong bye coming down to see you? Why can’t you open up on what exactly is eating at you. You picked at your breakfast this morning and did not eat much, I quic-kly made lunch hoping you will eat whenever you return but here you are again telling that you are not hungry. I should have stayed back in my father’s house instead of coming down here. Any time I start a conversation you will be abs£nt minded and ha-rd ly give me the attention I crave for. I’m leaving…I’m going back home. Whenever you are re-ady to open up, you know where to find me. I will not spend another night here in this house with you…I can’t cope with your troubled mood. Maybe I should be serious with my plans on visiting the embas-sy with my dad and getting the required docvments for my traveling out to Canada instead of been where I’m not wanted.
She turned and started walking away, I held her and she kept struggling.
I was almost crying like a child.
I was really going throu-gh a lot and I do not want it to affect Sandra, I felt so sad that Sandra was dragged into my mess.
How do I even tell her that I’m expecting a child with Ireti. Sandra will never forgive me this time, not after what I did to her.
But for how long do I intend to live like this.
Ireti was ma-king my life miserable and I don’t know how to escape from it.
My only problem is I don’t want to see Sandra sad.
I held her and did not let her go. A tear dropped from my eyes to her shoulder and she straightened and looked at me. I lowered my saddened face.
She took me to a sit and I sat down. Sandra brou-ght a box of tissue and handed over to me. She sat beside me and gr@bb£d my hands into hers.
She was indeed treating me like a child and it made me want to cry the more because Sandra deserve a better man not someb©dy like me. I don’t deserve her kind heart.
“Mart, what is it? Talk to me…I wish to know plea-se. You are getting me worried.
I wiped another tear, swallowed ha-rd and looked up at her.
“I’m afraid, I don’t want you to leave me. My life will be in shamble if you leave me. I love you so much and I can’t function well without you. That is why I can’t open up my trouble to you because you may never forgive me….. But I won’t blame you if you chose not to forgive. I wish…I wish you will.
She was quiet, she squee-zed my hands gently, bent over and k!$$£d my forehead before saying.
“Trust me first and tell me what it is. I don’t know what my reaction will be and I’m not promising I will be all nice at whatever you have to say but let me hear first before concluding. I love you too Mart and you should st©p hiding stuffs from me. I hate secrets. Did you kill anyb©dy?…what happened?
I swallowed ha-rd again, bent my head and try to arrange the words in my mind. I breathed out and said.
“Is Ireti. I lied…I lied to you about calling it quit with her. It all started when I couldn’t get to you after what happened back then, Ireti c@m£ back pleading for a second chance or she will kill herself. I didn’t want to give her a chance after what happened but eventually I did. I notice she was still in contact with her Papi but I waved it off until I heard Musa one day talking to you over the phone. I urged him to get your address and when he did I c@m£ searching for you. After I found you, I try to end it all with Ireti but she won’t let me be. She comes up with different threats and almost stabbe-d herself one day with my kitchen knife after i told her it was over between us. She was blackmailing me emotionally and in every way possible. I got drun!kone night and can’t remember tou-ching her but when I woke up my clothes were off and Ireti was n@ked. She said I made love to her without c0md0mand I have never done that before. After few weeks she told me that she was pregnant and it was a product of that night. She was the same person that kept calling yesterday and I lied that it was my Mum, I lied…my love. I’m sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen. She kept ban-ging at the gate yesterday and I have to go out to dismiss her. Today I actually went to see her and to settle on how to go on with the pregnancy but she is still ma-king everything difficult and kept threatening me. plea-se don’t leave me. I know I don’t deserve you…plea-se stay. My life will never be the same if you leave me….plea-se….
I pleaded and went on my knee pleading. I didn’t even care as tears dropped from my eyes. I kept begging Sandra not to leave and to forgive me.
She pu-ll-ed me up and remained quiet and every of her silent makes me feel like I was going to choke to death. She didn’t say anything for a while and I guess she was trying to decide if she should walk away or to forgive me and stay.
All throu-gh her silent period I did not st©p pleading. It was a horrible mistake and I know not many ladies will condone such from their man but I kept praying and hoping Sandra will forgive me and stay.
“Have you confirmed if the pregnant is truly yours?
She shocked me by asking that. I pretend not to hear her.
“eeeh?…sorry, i didn’t hear you clearly.
I said amid tears and try to gr-ab another tissue to wipe my eyes.
“You told me that Ireti‘s Papi was her lover before and he was the same person she took the burgundy shoe and aquarium to. right?
She asked with a straight face.
I nodded like agama lizard, continuously while wiping a tear from my eyes. I sat properly to un-derstand what Sandra was getting at. Anything that will save my relationsh!pand make Sandra to stay I’m re-ady to do it.
She continued talking
“…good. What if the pregnancy is for Papi and she tries to paint it on you so that you won’t leave her. And what if Ireti is not even pregnant? Have you consider all this things before. Ireti is capable of anything and it shouldn’t surprise you if one of the things I mentioned is true. But if the baby is yours then is fine but you have to be wise and handle her with strong hands and not with levity. If you keep R0m-ncing her words and getting scared anytime she threatens, Ireti will keep using you and you will be stuck with her for a very long time. Mart, I love you and I nee-d you to be a man and handle Ireti. You have to st©p creating the room for her to feel she got you where she wants you to be. I will even love to handle her myself. My father did not raise me to be stupid or weakling but he didn’t raise me to be violent either. I hate it when people glorify what is wrong.
I kept nodding to her every word and did not st©p even though it appears funny.
“…st©p nodding like that and get to work right away while I’m still here.
She said while trying to get up.
I held her hands thinking she was going to pick up her bag.
“plea-se forgive me. I’m re-ady to do anything you want me to do. My love plea-se don’t leave…plea-se.
She sighed in a funny way and said.
“Who said I was leaving? I’m here and I will love if you take Ireti to another hospital to run new pregnancy test and if she is pregnant then we will do the DNA test to ascertain who the father is and if the pregnancy is yours then we will decide on what to do concerning that. I can handle Ireti…she is not a big deal like she appears to be Mart.
She pu-ll-ed back her hands and started walking away and I shouted behind her.
“Does this means that you have forgiven me?
I said holding my sweating wrist ti-ght. She turned back, looked at me for some time before saying.
“I never said I have forgiven you Mart. forgiveness doesn’t work like magic. I’m very angry with you right now for lying to me. Very angry that you sle-pt with Ireti even after reconciling with me and revea-ling your full intentions for to my father. I can’t believe you still went ahead to cheat on me with Ireti. Hmmm! I just hope we will get around this at the end. I haven’t forgiven you Mart because forgiveness is not a cheap word to be thrown carelessly. Let’s focus on the task ahead first and unravel Ireti…
I nodded as she walked inside.
She sle-pt in the second master be-droom and I respected her privacy just as she wanted. I sle-pt in my be-droom and couldn’t sleep throu-gh out that night and I went to the sitting room to sleep instead.
Sandra’s father called Sandra because she was supposed to go back that day but Sandra told her Dad that she will spend few more days before leaving.
We ate breakfast in silent and I kept staring at her and begging her not to punish me away for my past wrong but Sandra was a very strong will person. She asked me to st©p the continues kneeling and pleading and invite Ireti over.
I did, I called Ireti to come over so that we can stay together and talk.
Ireti said she was not at her place and will come the following day. She was talking in a place that echoes in my ears, a place like bathroom and it seems like she was whispering.
Ireti said she was carrying my child and shouldn’t be on the road all the time stressing herself. She also added that she nee-ded money to register for check up in her pri-vate hospital and I told her that I will give her all she want whenever she comes.
She didn’t come that day and Sandra was still cold towards me. She did not allow me close to her except when we eat on the dining together or watch television. My eyes was on her and I wish to hold her, feel her warm b©dy, k!ssher like the first night we had and have a long gist filled with laughter. I wanted many thing but I was running ahead of myself and I prayed that she will forgive me at the end.
The fourth day was the day Ireti c@m£. Sandra was in her own master be-droom and didn’t want to be bothered. Immediately Ireti walks in, she c@m£ straight to hvg and to k!ssme but I pushed her off.
“Mart you really nee-d to be nice and st©p pushing me away every time. You have to start doing everything I ask of you. If I want you to make love to me for three straight hours you have no choice than to do it because is p@rt of doctor’s prescription for me. you know I’m carrying your child, you nee-d to treat me well. You have to do everything I want to avoid the news getting into the ears of your former maid. If your Sandra hears of this…hahahaha. You will be doomed for life. She will never trust you again or smell near you. I have the key to your happiness right now so treat me well or I will unlock the secret. I will tell Sandra that I’m pregnant for you and we have been together every day because you can’t stay a day with enjoying my s£xual prowess. Hahahaha, Ooh! you are scared. You are scared of me telling Sandra…hahahaha. That is more reason you should be very nice to me otherwise I will leak your secret to her.
Ireti laugh as she talks. She felt like she had me where she want me and had this undeniable air of authority on her shoulders.
She was still talking when Sandra c@m£ out from the room
Ireti bec@m£ shock and looked from me to Sandra.
“You didn’t tell me that your maid was around. I hope she did not hear our little secret…hahahahaha.
Sandra smile and said.
“Ireti is nice meeting you again. plea-se, what secret are you talking about…?
Ireti sat on a cushion, crossed her legs like boss of the moment. she replied.
“Well…Well…your prince charming did not tell you? You are actually wasting your time here because you don’t have a place at all. I remain the only queen of his heart and even more especially now that I carry what he treasures most. If I tell you what it is you will disappear like a bolt of lightning and never smell near here again.
Sandra looked at me and curved a smile. I s-en-sed she wanted me to pl@yalong with the drama queen and I did.
I turned to Ireti and said.
“Ireti, plea-se don’t say anything…. leave Sandra out of this whole drama. I’m begging you.
Ireti began to laugh so ha-rd and I almost laugh too because she fell for the whole thing.
I saw Sandra’s face and composed myself.
Ireti later said.
“uuhhh! Our baby boy is begging me not to tell you. He is afraid and I can feel his fear. I won’t tell you Miss Sandra because is a bond between me and Mart and I know if I leave here later, you will start fighting him to tell you but he won’t. if he tries to talk it will be all a lie to cover up the main hidden truth. Our fine boy is shivering in fear. Hahahaha…I’m enjoying this. I have everything right in my control. If you really want to know the truth then search me out and I will be glad to fill you up. Mart is not your real prince charming…but to avoid heart break is better not to know. I will advise you not to bother knowing what the secret is to avoid taking poison or committing suicide….hahahahaha!
Sandra sat down on the same cushion with me but she kept some distance between us. She looked up at Ireti and said
“Is there another secret aside claiming to be pregnant for Mart? Well, he told me himself and it wasn’t a big deal at all. And I’m glad that you are here because we will take you to a different hospitals to confirm for ourselves.
Ireti’s laughing face turned into shock. She looks from me who was smiling from ear to ear. I beat her to her own game. She looks at Sandra and was speechless.
Sandra continued.
“….if the secret is about the pregnancy then is no more a secret. Congratulations anyway. But Ireti, You were hitting on two men at almost same time. Mart and your Papi were in the picture. But since you said the pregnancy is for Mart then is a good thing, I love babies and Mart can’t wait to be a Dad. But first of all, we will like to confirm if you are truly pregnant and if you are, we will find out who the child belongs to throu-gh the help of a DNA test. So, are you re-ady…let’s go? Mart will drive us to the hospital and more hospitals to get more confirmation.
Ireti stood angrily and said.
“I’m not going anywhere. I will not allow you to step in and spoil my plans. I’m pregnant for Mart and that’s final. If I will even go anywhere it will be to my hospital and use my doctor. If not, then I am not stepping an inch to any other hospital. I will not let you destroy my plans or come between me and Mart. You are a scvmbag, a lazy maid who is trying to eat where she did not sow, you want to hang your cloth among the rich and famous, I will destroy your sorry as-s and give you a seat you belong. I will deal with you first before you will pour sand into my streams of fresh water. Foolish girl. I’m not going anywhere except to my own hospital…”
Ireti was fuming angrily, Sandra really got her ha-rd . I began to wonder within me why I haven’t I thought of the possibility of Ireti trying to feign me up.
Sandra said
“Okay Ireti, you can leave and carry your pregnancy all by yourself since you are not re-ady to go to another hospital for a test. Mart will not s£nd you a dime again, I will make sure I destroy your fresh stream of water. The only solution for you to keep enjoying yourself is to follow us to another hospital for a clear test but if you don’t…hmmm! I will make sure you don’t smell near this house again because it will be intruding in Mart’s pri-vate property. I will also make sure he gets you arrested if you are seen close to his house again…
Ireti rushed at Sandra suddenly, she was boiling and threw her shoe at her but Sandra was fast enough to dodge it.
Ireti charged Sandra for a serious fight but Sandra gave her two heavy sl@p and she fell back to the ground and pretend to faint.
Sandra asked me not to interfere and I obeyed.
She went to the fridge and brou-ght chilled water. I was panicking within me and hoping that Ireti did not faint for real. I try to remain calm and did not move from my seat. I was watching Ireti’s b©dy and saw when she re-adjusted herself on the ground and continue to pretend as if she pas-sed out.
Sandra brou-ght the water and poured all over Iret’s b©dy. She stood angrily like a witch and try to charge at Sandra again, who used her hand to dodged her b!ow. Ireti was applying all her strength into fight but Sandra stood watching her jump up and down like a crazy woman.
Another sl@p from Sandra s£nt her crashing on the chair.
Ireti is a weak tigress, she wasn’t re-ady to give up but Sandra was fully re-ady for her drama.
I didn’t even interfere between the two of them. I did exactly what Sandra asked me to do. I remained seated and kept watching as if it was a movie.
Well, it was like a live show between ant and elephant and I wish I can record the funny moment and laugh over it later.
The drama queen was running her mouth, kept threatening and pu-lling weak muscles at Sandra who was too strong for her.
I wonder why Ireti was still trying to fight someb©dy who was obviously stronger than she was.
Sandra asked Ireti to leave but the witch was not re-ady to give up. She resulted to running her mouth and all I did was to listen and laugh silently with my mouth covered.
I’m still here wondering why I never thought that Ireti may be trying to scam me like she did with my Burgundy shoe. Taking original and replacing it with fake.
Why didn’t I ever thought of that before now?
I’m happy and relaxed that Sandra was here to handle her because I couldn’t have done that on my own.

Episode 18 (semi – final)
Ireti got tired and resulted to words. Sandra’s f!nger print was on her face. She sustained a cut from the sl@ps that Sandra gave her.
Ireti was p@n-ting so ha-rd while talking as if she ran a marathon.
“I will get both of you arrested if anything happens to me or my baby. If anything happens to this child forming in my wo-mb, I will lock both of you up. I’m going to tell the police that my b©yfri£ndwho is responsible for my pregnancy invited me over and joined hand with his new girl who he was cheating on me with and also his former maid, they joined hands together and beat me up which resulted to my miscarriage, losing my precious baby and I had internal bleeding. Anything I have to say to win both of you, trust me I don’t lose out so easily. Both of you are very stupid and s-en-seless, I will deal with you. Mart you think you can escape from doing your rightful duties to me and the baby in my wo-mb? hahahaha…you are joker. I will make sure you do it double. No escaping for you. Your maid can not even save you from my hands. Let me just leave here first and go to my hospital to get a report which I will use to file a complain at the police station. You will see what I will do, your maid will regret ever laying a f!nger on me. You messed with the wrong person and I will bring two of you down. Let me get the hell out of here first…
Sandra went outside and gave some instruction to Musa who nodded to her orders. She c@m£ back inside and locked up the door before crossing over to the dining area and pretended as if she was ma-king a call after which she c@m£ back to the sitting room to sit down. I was looking at her. even Ireti pause from talking and bec@m£ confused on why Sandra will lock the exit door.
“Why did you lock the door? Ooh, you are trying to get me scared? I’m not afraid of you…you cannot do anything to me. Go and open the door let me leave this ru-bbish house.
Sandra sat down and crossed her leg, ignoring Ireti.
“Sandra or whatever your name is…I said you should go and open the door. I want to get out of this place. Are you deaf…?
Sandra ignored and started watching the television.
Ireti kept talking
“What is the meaning of this nons-en-se? I said I want to go. Mart, tell your maid or whatever she is to you to go and open the door for me to leave here. Tell her now or you collect the key from her and open the damn door. I nee-d to leave. I want to go and see my doctor. Mart, collect the key from her and open up let me get the hell out….
I looked over at Sandra, I don’t know what she was up to. Her eyes was focused on the television. She acted as if Ireti do not even exist.
I cleared my throat, trying to draw her attention. I wanted Ireti to leave. I did not un-derstand why Sandra locked up the door.
Sandra refused to look at me until I called her.
“My love, there’s no point keeping her here. Let her go. plea-se, can you open the door for her or you give me the key to do so.
Sandra turned to me and said.
“I gave her enough time to leave, even begged her to get out but she refused and c@m£ throwing empty muscles to my face. Well, I changed my mind. She mentioned earlier that she will lodge a complain at the station that we beat her up and she miscarried her baby. That’s a serious offence and I’m fully in for Ireti. I just called a doctor…he is alre-ady on his way down here with some police men. He will run a test on Ireti. I will make sure she obeys every of the doctor’s instruction and after the test is done, I will drag her to the car and we will go the hospital to pick up all the test result. All this nons-en-se nee-ds to come to an end. if I dictate any form of lie either with the paternity test or with her pregnancy….any lie at all, Ireti will be locked up for good. She will remain there for one year without bail because she is a thief and a scammer. My Dad will s£nd his men to make sure all this are carried out. My Dad is a no nons-en-se father… by tomorrow Ireti will be crying “had I know”…
Sandra looks so serious with the way she was acting and fear griped Ireti.
Ireti moved uncomfortably. She looked round as if she was trying to check out an escaping rout but there was none.
She was troubled, she started walking up and down not knowing what to say.
She later sat down and said so calmly and even looks like she will cry.
“plea-se, Sandra…plea-se unlock the door let me leave here. I don’t want any more trouble, I have had enough. I want to go home. Sandra…plea-se. Mart, tell her to let me out.
I was mute and did not say a word. Sandra turned to Ireti and said.
“Ireti, you still have time to tell us who is responsible for your pregnancy before the doctor and police men gets here because I’m not letting you out until you tell us. And if it belongs to Mart is all good, we will know how to handle that but you have to speak up now. By tomorrow, you will be locked up and may even give birth in prison if you don’t open up now. This is not a joke. it will be your second arrest and you will be so sorry for trying to outsmart us with your pregnancy. The doctor just s£nt a message that in the next 30minutes him and the police men will be here so Ireti you still have enough time to think about your life in prison. Think of how ha-rd it will be carrying your pregnancy and parading in the prison yard and it will be a double offence if at the end you are not pregnant, you may spend up to three years in prison….think de-ep about that….
Ireti couldn’t hide her discomfort. She wiped her face, got up and looked out of the window. She began to scratch her hair r0ûghly. I guess she was thinking of screaming for help but nob©dy will hear her. Even Musa will not answer her. She sat back down and looked at me with a pleading look, I quic-kly look away and stationed my eyes on the television as Sandra was doing.
Ireti began to talk calmly with a pleading voice. This time as she speaks there was tears in her eyes.

“I’m sorry, plea-se. I’m very sorry….i don’t want to go back to that police cell. I hate the thought and smell of that place. plea-se open the door so that I can go to my house. Mart, I’m sorry, I lied. The night you got drun!k…nothing happened between us. I actually try to make you do it but you were too weak to corporate so I staged the whole saga by going n@ked and taking your clothes off but nothing happened and I’m not pregnant. I just did not want you to leave me and the moment you told me that you were moving on with Sandra I couldn’t bear it so I gr@bb£d the opportunity of staging the pregnancy thing. I’m not pregnant…I know I may lose you at the end to Sandra so I wanted to do anything possible to keep you close by. I’m sorry. there’s no pregnancy…plea-se. Sandra I’m sorry, you are more difficult than I thought. plea-se forgive me and open the door so that I can go before the doctor and police gets here. plea-se let me go and I promise not to ever trouble you or Mart again. I’m so sorry. I’m re-ady to abide by any rules you l@yif only you will let me get out of here before the police arrives. I’m begging you…
She kept begging and wiping her eyes. I looked at her with a puzzled face. It was so unbelievable that Ireti can come up with such idea to tire me down with pregnancy. Ireti is impossible. She almost made me develop high blood plea-sure. She wanted to ruin my life. What kind of human being is Ireti? She is just unbelievable and never cease to shock me. I was so amazed at the way Sandra was handling her, so smart and intelligent which was in another level.
Sandra curved a smile at one corner of herl-ips, she looked at Ireti for a long time and said.
“Ooh, you are sorry now right? I still don’t believe that you are sorry Ireti. I know if you leave here, you will go to your house and plan another drama to come and stage. You are filled with lies and I don’t trust any of your words. I knew that you are up to something after Mart told me about what happened. Listen to me Ireti, you can deceive Mart all you want because he is calm, soft at heart and doesn’t know the evil you are capable of doing. I don’t blame him, he didn’t grow up in a tough environment or mingles much outside his rich world but I can’t easily be deceived by someone like you. You are even too small to do that. So before I let you go Ireti, you must follow us to sign un-dertaking, a bond that you will never trouble us again and you will do that at the police station. As the good girl I am, I won’t let them arrest you. After the bonding, you can go on your way and we will go on ours case close…the end of Ireti’s drama. So, are you re-ady so that I can call the people that are alre-ady on their way here to turn back? There’s no nee-d of coming anymore since you have alre-ady confessed your sins and I record it on my phone. Hurry up with your answer we don’t have all day. Are you re-ady to do as I just said?
Ireti stood with her bag and said in a hurry.
“Yes, yes…I’m very re-ady to do it. plea-se don’t let them arrest me…plea-se. I will do as you say…I’m re-ady.
Sandra, stood and replied.
“Good. I like your kind of person, you corporate so well. Let’s get started then”
Sandra stepped aside and pretend to make another call before returning back.
Ireti was looking like a troubled lost child.
Sandra went to the door and unlocked it. I picked up my car key and we left for the station. Sandra joined Ireti in her car and told her that she will be the one to drive to the station. She doesn’t trust Ireti driving her.
Ireti who did not know that Sandra can drive nodded quietly.
I watched as Sandra gr@bb£d the car key from her.
Ireti entered the car and Sandra began to drive.
I was driving behind them until we got to the station where Ireti did all that was required. She wrote down every word that the police asked her to write and signed the bonding that she will never trouble us again and will keep her distance away from us.
The bond she signed was a risky one for her because if anything happens to me or Sandra she will be held responsible even if she is innocent. It was an un-dertaking against lives and properties.
The only time she will be free is either we are out of the country or she travels out of the state and kept a wi-de distance because any threat or attack on us will be pointed at her. She was in for a serious trouble if she ever smells close.
After the whole signing was over, we left her and drive back home.
I hope that will be the end of Ireti’s drama in my life and the life of the woman I truly love and adore.
Sandra displa-yed unbelievable power and wisdom on Ireti which made me cherished her the more.
I got home and went on my knees again to ask for her total forgiveness and she didn’t say much except that she nee-ds to leave the following day because her Dad had been calling her.
I allowed her and the next morning I went to drop her off.
After dropping her, I refused to leave because I nee-ded her forgiveness and as-surance and I was afraid to speak to her father about what happened. I remained there and refused to go until she told me that it was fine, she has forgiven me.
I almost k!$$£d her in front of her Dad but had to compose myself.
I later returned back to my place and we continue our loving relationsh!p.
Sandra adds honey to my life and I just can’t get enough of her. I still think of what she did to Ireti and marveled at her kind of strength.
She is one in a million to me.
