“Oh my God! You have absolutely no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear those words from you Adena. Thank you so much! You don’t know how happy you’ve made me” Logan exclaimed, and just like a child, he rested his head on her che-st again, and she cuddled him.
“I’ve been keeping it in for a long time. It feels good to finally let it out” she sighed.
“I promise, I won’t let you regret loving me. I’ll make up for everything I did to you and..”
Adena had to interrupt him.
“You don’t have to make up for anything. I’ve forgotten about all that, at least I’m ready to forget. Let’s just focus on what’s ahead and let go of the past. The past should not determine our future” she stated, caressing his thick hair.
“I’m the luckiest man alive aren’t I? You’re such a blessing. I love you Adena” he said and a tear dropped from her eye.
“I love you too Logan. I really do” she said and it was music to his ears. He could listen to her say those three magical words to her all day long and never get tired.
Something changed inside him, there was a difference. He felt healed, he felt complete. She also felt a heavy load being lifted off her. It was the best feeling, the best moment.
Logan lifted his head and saw that she had already fallen asleep. He ki-ssed her forehead and carefully made her lie on the bed, placing pillows at convenient locations to keep her comfortable.
“Thank you” he mumbled and fell asleep next to her.
… 11: 25pm …
Adena felt a sharp pain below her abdomen and that je-rked her from her sleep. She sat up slowly and ru-bbed her belly.
“What is it baby? Why are you disturbing mummy by this time of the night?” She asked, but the pain didn’t seem to be easing.
Then, she felt a warm liquid un-der her and she lifted her leg to see that she had w£tted the bed.
“God! I peed myself” she bit her li-p in embarras-sment.
“Babe? What’s wrong?” Logan sat up and ru-bbed his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, I peed on the bed” she said, looking sad. Logan stared at the w£t stain and back at her.
“That has never happened before. I should wake Liliana” he said, hurriedly getting off the bed.
He left the room to call Liliana while Adena noticed that the pains increa-sed. Especially un-der her abdomen and her back. She began to wince and Gr0-n, until Liliana entered the room.
“Adena, what happened?” She asked. She looked at the w£t stain and gasped.
“Goodness! Her water just broke” Liliana explained. Both Logan and Adena stared at her in surprise and confusion.
“Water?” They asked in unison.
“She’s in labour!” Liliana said, more simply.
“Labour?!” Adena asked, immediately panicking. Her breathing became heavy and rapid.
“What do we do?” Logan asked.
“Stop panicking and get the car ready!” Liliana yelled at him and he rushed off, in the wrong direction, twice! Before finally finding his way out the door.
“It’s okay honey, just breathe. You’re going to be just fine” Liliana said in a calm tone, ru-b-bing Adena’s back gently. She nodded and took de-ep breaths.
“Just follow my lead and you’ll be fine” she said, slowly and gently leading her off the bed and towards the door. Once they were in the hallway, Liliana called for Antoinette and ordered her to get Adena’s bag and baby stuff ready to bring to the hospital.
“The car is ready, let’s go” Logan rushed into the living room to meet them. He helped Adena out of the house and into the car. She was still taking de-ep breaths, but she was nervous.
Random thoughts ran across her head. What if she doesn’t survive? What if her baby dies? What if they both don’t make it out alive?
She just declared her love for Logan, and now she wasn’t sure if she was going to live long enough to enjoy loving him.
The drive to the hospital was filled with anxiety, everyone was worried and eager. Especially Logan, he didn’t know what would become of him if he lost Adena too. It would be the end of his world. He drove like a mad man in the middle of the night.
He never believed in God, but that night, he prayed to the best of her ability that Adena makes it out alive.
They arrived at the hospital and the nurses quickly took over Adena while Logan went to fill some paperwork.
“Oh God, I really hope she’s fine in there” Antoinette bit her li-p anxiously, pacing back and forth.
“Calm down will you? If you continue doing that, you’re going to give us high blood pressure” Liliana Gr0-ned and Antoinette sat down.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll be fine” Liliana said to Logan, patting his shoulder. He nodded and smiled at her, but it was obvious how scared he was.
Twenty minutes in, the doctor came out to see them but she didn’t have a good expression on her face which got everyone nervous.
“Doc? How is she?” Logan asked.
“I’m afraid we have to do a ceserean section. The young lady is young and her body cannot handle it. If we for-ce her throu-ghit, she won’t come out alive” the doctor explained and Logan felt shivers run down his spine.
He looked at Liliana who nodded at him.
“It’s probably the best option. She’s going to be fine” she said.
“Alright then” Logan agreed.
“Please come with me to sign the agreement” the doctor left and Logan followed.
Those thirty minutes were the longest thirty minutes of Logan’s life. He couldn’t hide how tensed he was, patiently waiting for some good news.
Finally, the doctor came out, smiling broadly and went to shake Logan’s hand. He was not sure what was going on until the doctor spoke up.
“Congratulations! It’s a baby girl.. a beautiful baby girl!”
“Oh my gosh!!!” Antoinette squealed.
“Really?” Logan said, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. He was literally the happiest man in the world right at that moment.
“Yes, you can see her right now” the doctor replied, still smiling.
Logan rushed in followed by Liliana and Antoinette. They rushed into the room and met Adena cuddling the baby girl to her che-st. She was smothering the little bundle of joy with ki-sses and it was the most heartwarming scene they ever saw.
“Oh my child.. she’s so adorable” Liliana said, gently taking the baby from Adena. The baby squirmed in her arms and blinked at Liliana.
“Let me hold her ma!” Antoinette said.
“No, let Logan hold his baby first” Liliana said and handed the child to Logan.
It was the first time he ever held a baby. He couldn’t stop smiling at the cute little human in his arms. He carried her over to Adena’s side and sat beside her. He lowered his head and ki-ssed her forehead.
“You did it, you made me the happiest man in the world” he said and Adena smiled weakly.
“I’m so happy, I’m so happy you made it” he added, she smiled again and reached out to touch his cheeks.
“So, what should we name her? Our little princess” Logan asked, pecking the baby on both cheeks. He couldn’t get enough of her. He had never been a kid person but this changes everything.
Adena looked at Antoinette and smiled.
“Lena” she said and Antoinette beamed, she suggested that name.
“Lena?” Logan asked.
“Yes, Adena plus Logan, makes Lena” Adena answered and Logan chuckled.
“That’s the sweetest thing I ever heard” Logan said and ki-ssed the baby.
“Lena.. welcome to the world. I’m your daddy, and that’s mommy” Logan said, already playing with his daughter.
“Awwwn” Antoinette cooed.
“Can I hold my baby now?” She requested and Logan handed the baby to her.
“I’m going to call Damon and tell him everything” he said in excitement and left the ward to make a call.
Damon and Camilla seemed to be the most excited to hear that Adena had delivered a bouncing baby girl. They rushed down to the hospital by 2am with gifts and hampers for Adena and the baby. They spared no effort in making everyone in the hospital jealous.

? A year later ?
“Today’s the day. The day I’m finally going to ask the love of my life to marry me. I just hope she’ll say yes. Do you think she’ll say yes?” Logan asked, squ-atting in front of the cute one year old.
Lena smiled at him and uttered some gibberish before going back to chewing her toy.
“I’m so nervous. I don’t know if it’s the right time, you know?” He continued to talk to the baby who paid little or no attention to him.
He brou-ght out the beautiful diamond ring and Lena reached out for it.
“No no, this isn’t for you” he said, shoving it back into his pocket.
The door swung open and Adena entered, carrying folded laundry.
“Mama” Lena called, getting excited. She was still learning how to walk, so she crawled over to Adena who dropped the laundry and lifted her off the ground.
“Hey there princess. What are you and Daddy talking about?” She asked and ki-ssed her cheek.
“Nothing important. Hurry up and come downstairs, Antoinette and Tyson are coming over soon” Logan said, walking out of the room.
Tyson and Antoinette became an item after he came back from Europe. Their friendship turned into blossoming love. She travelled to Europe with him and they were coming home today.
“Hey family!!!” Antoinette squealed, entering the house in her designer gown and black boots. She had changed a lot, she’s become clas-sy, but her personality and sweet heart had not changed a bit.
“Bestie!!” Adena squealed too and ran to hu-g her.
“My baby!!” Antoinette pushed Adena off and went to hu-g Lena who was crawling towards her.
Tyson entered and went to greet Logan first. The cousins became good friends, although they still weren’t each other’s favorite people.
“Where’s ma?” Antoinette asked.
“Oh, she’s over at Damon’s. You know Camilla’s pregnancy is almost due. So she’s staying with them for the meantime” Adena answered and she nodded.
They all sat down to talk. After a while, Logan stood up and said that he had an announcement to make. He turned to Adena and got on one knee.
Antoinette gasped, knowing exactly what was coming. She was so excited.
“Adena, I know ours was not the smoothest love story, infact, it was the most unexpected. We’ve been throu-gha lot, and honestly I don’t know how I would have come out of any of it without you by my side.
You taught me how to love, you did not only save me from my past, you fixed this broken man. You are the light in my darkness. And I want to ask you, to complete me, by accepting to be my wife” he said and pulled out the diamond ring.
Adena’s eyes were filled with tears as she stared at him in surprise.
It was all she ever wanted… Happiness!
But something was missing, something she had always wanted to do.
“I’ll marry you.. if” she paused, shocking everyone.
“If?” Logan asked.
“Yes, if you agree to my conditions” she said.
“What conditions?”
“We will travel the world first. I wanted freedom, but now I realize that we were both trapped in our past and we can give each other freedom. Let’s travel the world, as a family and experience freedom” she said, beaming. He smiled at her, a very charming smile indeed.
“Deal” he said and snuck the ring into her middle finger.
