Betrayer in disguise episode 9 & 10

BETRAYER IN DISGUISE??
Episode 9.

My parents followed the case up and they got to know Favour cousin fled to hide.
“How did she know about this when we tried to make this hidden? The late man wife asked.
“There’s only one answer to that question, there’s an informer among us, my dad replied and the woman eyes bulged out.

“Informer? She asked.
“Yes. We acted wisely to avoid suspicion, now who told her we were coming to arrest her? The kind officer thought about it.

“Whoever that is, he or she should better get prepared for me, the woman angrily said.
“You know what, for now we can only trust ourselves and any information we have should just be within us, my dad said.

“If what you’re saying is true, then I nee-d to keep a close eye among the officers, the kind officer said.
“I can give you a clue, can you remember the officer that gave you the corrupted tape? My mom asked.

“Uhmmm not really, the officer replied.
“If we can know the person who gave you the tape, I think we are not far from the informer of the murderer, my mom said and the woman nodded.

“Fine! We are going to keep a close eye and our mouth shut on important issues, and hope we get whoever it is fast, the woman said when she visited us at home.
We talked about other things and they left after eating lunch with us.

The next day I was returning home from school with my clas-s mates…… I don’t like entering the cab when going home, I always see it fun to walk back home despite Favour was no longer with me. My parents talked about it severally and got tired leaving me to my choice.

At a point my clas-s mates p@rted and it was just me, though I was close to the house.
A car drove and suddenly parked calling on me but I kind of ignored,
“plea-se girl can I ask a question? A guy who sat at the front asked and I went close to the car.

“Where can I get….. The rear door opened and I was pushed into the car before he finished. I saw an handkerchief was placed on my nose and I pas-sed out.

I woke up tied up lying on the floor and my head was still spinning terribly.
The room was kind of dark as it was evening alre-ady but no one was there,
“Where are you Joan? I asked myself like I was able to answer the question.

I decided not to scream but struggled to get up when I noticed my legs were not tied.
I went to the window and saw the area was an uncompleted building and I left going to the door when I heard footsteps coming.

I ran back to where I got up from and la-id down with my eyes closed and the door opened,
“Ahh this girl still dey sleep? Abi you put overdose for the handkerchief ni? See as you dey waste something, A voice said.
“Which kind talk be that? I be small pikin wey just dey start? She suppose wake by now na, another voice said and kicked me but I remained calm.

“Maybe her b©dy system no carry am, tomorrow morning she go wake make we go, the one who kicked me said and I noticed someone entered the room.
“This mumu still dey sleep? Make una wake am na, i no bring am here to come sleep nons-en-se, A lady voice said and I recognized it to be Favour cousin.

“You know all this ajebota children, e be like the drugs too strong for am, the first voice said.
“You don search am? The lady asked.

“Yes o, but she no carry phone, we-tin you go do? The first voice asked.
“At least she go sabi the parents number for head no wahala, she replied and hissed.

“Na fu*k up be this na but i no get choice as e be so. Make I go since she never wake, we go see tomorrow, the lady said and left and they left too closing the door behind.
I opened my eyes and tried untying myself until I finally did.

I heard them laughing and talking outside then I tried the door handle to see they actually locked it. Ahhhh! I actually thought they only closed it but they proved they were not that stupid.

I slowly ru-bbe-d the place i was kicked ha-rd and wondered why they want they talk with my parents.
“Oh oh oh, do they want my parents to re-lease Favour in exchange for me? I asked myself and nodded because it was so obvious.

I began to scratch my head in confusion and felt a hair pin on my head.
In my school we were actually taught things outside the syllables like how to escape from a locked room and defend yourself.

I just smiled looking at the pin and returned to where I got up from waiting for them to probably sleep off or go out.
I heard footsteps coming and I took the untied rope wra-pping it on my hand and la-id down with my eyes closed.

The door opened and they checked on me pointing a torch light,
“Omoh! No be small sleep she dey sleep, the one who kicked me said.
“Guy i don go chop o, you no go come? The other asked.

“Abi na only you get belle to chop? Make we go joor, he replied and they closed the door and left. I stood up throwing the rope from my hand and squ-atted by the door using the pin on the key hole.
The room was getting very dark but I had to do something and was careful not to make too much sounds, just in case there are others because i heard different voices around.

Only God knows how many minutes I spent dancing in the keyhole in the dark, and the door opened.
I cleaned the sweat I was covered with alre-ady and gently walked out closing the door behind.

I heard a voice inside one of the rooms and I took off my sandals leaving my socks on and went down pas-sing un-der the window.
I saw they were not the only ones there, there were different uncompleted buildings were different group of guys were smoking and drinking.

Fear gr!pp£dme as i didn’t know whether to return back to the room or risk it.
I just leaned myself on the wall breathing ha-rd and i noticed a kind of disagreement in the building i was just close with.
“Jesus! Where will i go now? I asked scared knowing they were coming out and any step from where I stood I’ll be seen whether forward or backward.

I quic-kly went down thanking God the colour of my uniform wasn’t that obvious in the dark.
Before i knew it a loud hit was pas-sed to the younger one and he let a shout out…… Boom! They began a serious fight.

“Ahhhhh wahala! for I knew I could be seen because guys c@m£ out with torches and that was a very bad news to me. I threw myself to a corner like a paper carried by air, unfortunately or fortunately for me the place smells terribly for that’s where they urinate.

I was choking with the odour that can likely raise the dead as the guys kept shouting all over the place separating them.
But in the midst of their argument, I heard my kidnappers voice.
“Oh no! I almost shouted knowing soon I’ll be noticed missing.
Then I knew I had to leave that place somehow, for someone may likely want to urinate with all their drinking and smoking.

I peeped at them from where i was and it was like a whistle was b!own calling them out from their holes.
They all gathered at the place the fight was and I heaved in, a guy with a strong voice was seriously addressing them but that was not my business. I closed my eyes ti-ght,
“Joan, its now or never! I said to myself re-ady to risk it and escape for my life……..

I slowly ti-ptoed as the guys kept ranting and shouting and I saw the entrance clear. Looks like the fight was in my favour, because when I peeped earlier there were guys sitting outside smoking, but they alre-ady left.

I kept calm and was still very careful, who knows someone may be around to keep guard. But I saw myself running immediately I hit the entrance without looking back, but unfortunately the place was so bushy and dark.

I ba-rely saw anything or anywhere I could hide, but I knew I had to do something for soon I’ll be noticed missing.
I didn’t know whether to go throu-gh the bush or use the crooked path… But I considered using the road hoping I could find help.

I kept running for a while and saw a closed shop, I wondered what it is doing in an undeveloped area but then I thought its safe I hide in it for the night, the road may be dangerous at night.

I got into the veranda where it was raised a bit with blocks and hid un-der it.
I think I sle-pt every bit of sleep in me for the next 1 week, as my eyes was just open scared for tomorrow.

I can’t believe I’m going throu-gh this again, and I wonder which one was quite better… The cell or here.

I can’t tell how long I stayed there when I heard noises and a flash of light,
“Its them, I whispered and stood up confused. I thought of running away or stay put where I was.
I peeped from the blocks and saw they kind of entered the bushes pointing the torches and my heart skipped.

They were alre-ady close to where I was and there was no where I could run away now, Of course I’ll be caught.
My heart was beating fast and I slowly went low and left to the back of the shop leaning myself on the wall.

“Wahali if I catch that girl, the kind beating I go give am eh, for her next life she go refuse to born again, the one who hit me angrily said.
“But we dey waste time dey find am like this, this girl fit run go far o, the other said.

“Listen to him plea-se, I gently said where I stood and they flashed a light to the shop and hissed.
“Let’s go, one said and they left still looking for me.

I heaved in and returned back to the shop and that was when I noticed I had a wristwatch on.
I regretted I was not on the watch that had lights in it, probably I would have known what time it is now.

I just closed my eyes as I sat down and heard when they returned after a while lamenting very seriously.
I smiled to myself but it gradually faded when I knew not what tomorrow holds for me.

I felt cold and cu-mddled myself on the floor with my eyes open, then I noticed a car coming with the lights so bright.
I quic-kly used it in checking my wristwatch and was surprised its past 1am.
“Ohhh it’s still far, I said very disappointed and knew the guys probably has gone for runs.

I saw it as a waste of time stuck here when I can gently walk till I get to the main road, at least there should be safe for me.
After all the guys went back alre-ady and may not return till morning.

With that thought I stood up and left the shop going on the crooked road, but kept looking back just in case anyone is coming.

I trekked for a while and noticed the car st©pped somewhere and the guys were out.
“$h!t! I shouted and restrained my steps going backwards,
“Hey you! Someone said at my back coming out from the bush and I st©pped so frightened to look back or to see who it was.

“plea-se plea-se let me go I beg you, I fearfully said with my hands up and the person stood in front of me.
‘You’re the girl they are looking for, how did you escape? He asked and I raised my bowed head.

“plea-se plea-se I only want to go back to my family, they will be so sick and worried about me, plea-se let me go, I replied and saw it was the guy that was hit back there in the uncompleted building.
“So you’ll expo-se our whereabouts? He asked.

“No plea-se I won’t do that, my mouth will be shut, I replied.
“That’s right and I’ll shut it for you, you’re going no where! He shouted and gr@bb£d me.

“No! No plea-se! I shouted but he alerted the guys alre-ady and they c@m£ running to us.
I saw my kidnappers coming with a very angry look and I quic-kly fell on my knees with great fear, but the one who hit me in the room raised me up using my hair.

My scream ran throu-gh the area and he landed me a heavy sl@p that lacked conscience.
“Easy o na girl, a guy there said.
“Which kind useless girl be that? Girl wey for put us for trouble, abi you dey mad ni! He shouted and gave me a hit on my stomach and I saw my world crashing.

“Guy e don do abi you wan kill am! I heard the other guy shout at him but I felt like pas-sing out.
I was alre-ady on the ground holding my stomach and someone carried me on his shoulder from the ground.

I was returned back to the room I escaped from and they gave me one deadly look and locked the door after tying my legs and hands.
There I began to cry, I didn’t know what exactly was painful to me but I knew I cried from my heart.

My stomach was rumbling, probably it was hunger or the hit that was given to me.
“Why is this always happening to me? I asked shivering in the dark as I la-id down crying all alone………..

The next morning the door opened and I weakly opened my eyes…. Not that I was slee-ping.
Favour cousin walked in with so much rage and I wont be surprised the guys must have told her what I did.

She held my jaw fiercely as I looked at her feeling dizzy,
“So you tried to escape huh? You’re lucky I nee-d you alive, She said and let go of me.

I was g@sping for breath, only God knows how desperate I nee-ded water at that moment, then she brou-ght out a phone.
“Call out your father number right now, she sternly said and I gave a weak smile.

“You will have to kill me first, I used my last strength to say.
“Don’t worry, I’ll gladly grant your wish, she said and hit me ha-rd on my face…….
