BETRAYER IN DISGUISE??
Episode 12.
Still on the floor wincing in pains I heard a kind of commotion outside. At first I ignored concentrating on what was paining me but it sounded serious. I tried putting myself together to know what’s going on but suddenly a sound of broken bottle was heard and the shouts increa-sed.
I shifted myself aside and drew myself to the wall trying to un-derstand what the noise is all about,
“You be mumu! You wan tell me say the police no dey road dey come here now? Why you stupid like this? How we take sabi you sef! I heard a guy voice.
“See no try me o, now I dey control my temper you dey push me, if I loose am eh! Favour cousin said.
“You still dey talk? Who you be sef? Who born you! The guy shouted so fiercely.
“Dah make Una st©p this ru-bbish na! we-tin this shout go solve now when we suppose dey re-ady for those people. If na to open fire we go open give them, one guy shouted.
“I been wan tell this idiot say my ear dey there, if any move wan happen he go alert us and he dey shout ru-bbish, empty vessel like am, Favour cousin said.
“Your mama! The guy shouted.
“E don do! Whether your ear or nose dey for station e no go change the fact say this place go soon expo-se and we nee-d to find another levels, the guy continued.
“But where we wan relocate go now as e be so? This place been good for us somehow o, another voice said.
“See eh, if Una dey plan to open fire for ekelebe when dey show, prepare to dey open everyday because this place go still dey their black book if they trace am. Simple thing, make we comot from here avoid more wahala for ourselves, a different person said.
“But we-tin bring all this casala come sef? The girl you kidnapped we-tin she do? Someone asked.
“See yeye question. Sef how e take concern you now? E concern you? She fired back and the guy hissed.
“As e be so, we no go fit return that girl back if they no succeed to track this place, because she fit bring them here, she fit trace this place o, someone said.
“Before who been wan return am? I heard her said and my heart skipped.
“Are they going to kill me? I asked breathing ha-rd .
“Una go kill am? Someone asked.
“Stupid question. But make Una calm down, the person wey yan me this news so no tell me say they don discover this place. He go try cover up for us or hint us before any thing, so make Una chill, I get this one, Favour cousin replied and I was alre-ady shedding tears.
“So Joan just like that it’s your time to die? Kept ringing on my head.
“Now wey she don spoil show, how you go take reach her papa? One asked.
“Nothing spoil o, she only spoil am for herself. But if I know say they no track this place, I go still go ahead with the threat because they no still get option. But one thing be say I go carry Favour leave Naija straight, that girl sharp and e dey pain me she dey for that cell so. To compensate am for all the trouble na to clear this girl comot, she replied.
“No wahala na, come go abeg you don dey bring us trouble alre-ady, someone said.
“Ode! like say you no like am, she said laughing and I was shivering.
I folded my knees and placed my face on it as I thought about everything that could enter my head.
No one entered the room nor did i heard anything about me, but the discussions that filtered into my ears where operations they are to carry out in the night.
In the evening after I used my hands to mas-sage my back, the door opened and the guy who caught me when i wanted escaping walked in.
I sniffed saying nothing and he closed the door and bent down facing me where I sat on the floor.
“How are you? He asked but I said nothing without even looking at him.
“Ermmm can I get you something to eat? He asked again and I looked at him.
“Yes, and that’s poison. Why not just end my life in a less painful way so I won’t get to see how you will cut me into pieces and feed me to vultures, I replied and he heaved.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know they were going to kill you, he said.
“You’re sorry like it’s something strange huh? Is that not what you all do here? I asked.
“Listen to me Joan….. “How did you know my name? I cut in.
“Okay okay I..i… I saw your school bag and went throu-gh it. And ermmm.. I once attended your school, in fact i won as the best student in a big competition that was held in the state, he replied and i scoffed.
“I’m i to applaud you? I’m sorry my hands are too weak to cl@p for you, I said and he nodded.
“I un-derstand you’re angry with me but I…….. “What are you doing here? plea-se just go okay, I cut in.
“Joan I’ll get you out of here, trust me, he seriously said and I opened my mouth.
“What did you just say? I asked.
“I don’t know how, but I won’t let you waste away this way. Okay I’ll be back, he replied and left and it was like I was dreaming.
Though i earnestly prayed for a miracle, but I never imagined it will be this way. I was supposed to be happy or relieved from my fears a bit, but no it increa-sed and added with anxiety as I began to imagine how he will sneak me out of this place when its surrounded with lions and the bear in a lady form.
“God plea-se! If you’re hearing and seeing my cries, plea-se get us out of here, I prayed………
Minutes later the door opened and one of my honorable kidnapper c@m£ in with bre-ad and a sachet of water.
“See your life, you no get s-en-se but you wan struggle to get am. You just land yourself for more trouble, I pity you, he talked his trash and left when no one said a word to him, and i angrily shifted the chicken food away thinking of how that guy will sneak me from here.
Then the pains on my back c@m£ in full volume that I didn’t know when my voice went out that I was heard.
They c@m£ in and held me up as I rolled the room from one corner,
“That’s what you deserve baby girl, Favour cousin said when I was held to drink water.
“Haba you sef see this thing dey pain am na, the kidnapper who earlier dropped bre-ad said.
“No be we-tin she do herself? Who knows if she dey pretend sef, if she fit pretend say she dey sleep then run comot from this place, I fear this girl, the wicked one said.
“Leave am, na real drama queen you dey see so, but i go buy am drugs later, she said.
“Sorry, sorry iyeh, the other kidnapper said to me and they hissed and left.
I couldn’t say anything to him and he had to leave too leaving me alone when I could bear the pains.
I didn’t know when i sle-pt off but i heard a tap on my back and i opened my eyes.
The room was dark so i couldn’t see who it was but a flashed light was on,
“Its me, can you stand? The guy said and I tried getting up but my legs were weak.
He held me up but a sharp pain ran throu-gh my back,
“Sorry easy okay, he said.
“Where are we going? Is everyone asleep? I asked.
“Let’s go, he replied crossing my hand on his shoulders as he quietly led me out of the room………

Episode 13.
As he helped me out, I noticed everywhere was so quiet but I couldn’t say a word knowing we were sneaking from the place, but suddenly someone sneezed inside and the guy st©pped which I did also.
He looked surprised someone sneezed and I wondered why. He quic-kly dragged me which I endured when the sneeze c@m£ again and it was like the person wanted coming out.
We hurried to a corner and hid ourselves as the darkness was also in our favour.
“Why everyb©dy dey sleep like Mumu? Guy! We heard the guy shouted and went in, and the guy with me quic-kly dragged me away outside and he ran to the car to open up.
“Get in fast, he said and I got strength from no where to meet up.
I got in and as he was about driving out the guy who was awake probably saw the car lights and rushed out but we took off alre-ady.
“Ebuka! Ebuka! We heard him shout behind us but he never st©pped.
“Thank you, I said as I noticed I was holding my breath when we were far from the building but he didn’t say anything.
“How did you do it? I asked but he re-moved his phone and gave it to me.
“Call your parents, tell them to leave the house immediately, don’t ask me why or where, he said and I took the phone and saw it was past 1am.
I typed in my dad number and with just one ring he picked up, looks like he was awake looking at his phone.
“Hello! His voice c@m£ on phone.
“Daddy, daddy, I said very happy to hear that voice.
“Joan! Joan is that you? He shouted.
“Joan Joan darling where are you? Where are you? My mom quic-kly got the phone and I closed my eyes.
“Mom I don’t know but you and everyone should leave the house now. You can drive to any h0tel and hide there for a while plea-se, I replied.
“Joan what are you saying? If there’s a case I can call the cops now for protec-tion, my dad said.
“Dad there’s a traitor in their midst and you cant risk this chance. Just don’t tell anyb©dy, plea-se go away this night I’ll try to reach you probably in the morning, I said.
“Joan are you okay? My dad asked.
“Dad just do this okay, I replied and Ebuka got the phone from me and switched it off.
“Why should they leave? I asked him.
“Because they will be attacked, he replied.
“Why are you risking this? I asked and he placed his left hand on his head.
“I just feel I should do something good today, he replied.
“Don’t you think they will look for you or your family? I asked and he scoffed.
“Family? They will have to dig them out from the grave if that is so. I can take care of myself, after all they treated me like trash there, he replied.
“I saw when you were hit on your stomach, that was when I first escaped, I said and he looked at Me.
“I see I alre-ady gave you the chance, he said.
“And you caught me, I said.
“It was best I did, if I had a chance to let you go I would have done that but I had no choice, he said.
“But why are the bears slee-ping? I asked.
“I cook and serve them here, so I drugged the food. I think the guy who wasn’t affected didn’t eat much or something but its not important anymore, he replied and I smiled something I haven’t done for a while now.
“Thank you, I said.
“So will your family hand me over to the police? He asked.
“I won’t let them do that, but you have to help us catch them else they will keep hunting after us, I replied and he smiled.
“I can’t do that, let the police do their job and I wish you luck, he said and st©pped the car.
We were alre-ady on the road and it was so quiet like a grave yard.
“Why are we st©pping here? I asked.
“I’m done helping you Joan, look after yourself and be careful, he replied and my eyes bulged out.
“What? Wait you can’t be serious! Its late and I don’t know where I am plea-se don’t do this, I said.
“What do you want me to do? Drive you to a h0tel or a police station? He asked with an angry tone and I nodded.
“I’m sorry and thanks for your help, I calmly said and walked out from the car and he drove off.
I looked left and right but saw no car coming, then I went to a shop and squ-atted but my back refused that position. I quic-kly sat down feeling cold and ru-bbe-d my hands together to create heat just to keep my b©dy warm.
A car was seen coming and I didn’t know if it was the guys because they have 2 vehicles which Ebuka took 1 of it.
Fear held me to stand up from where I was even though I was tem-pted to ask for help from any coming vehicle.
To make it worst I didn’t really take a good look at the cars parked at the kidnappers building, I only know I saw 2 vehicles.
The car pas-sed and I calculated the time Ebuka left, probably the guy who was awake must have followed us behind…. I just used my number 6 to think.
Few minutes later I saw lights and I stood up to check but it was a bus.
I began to scratch my head contemplating,
“Joan are they good people? I asked myself but as the bus was approaching I saw myself ran back to the shop and hid myself.
I began to cry o because I was freezing and my back was not taking it kindly from me.
“God plea-se, plea-se help me out of here. I know you’ve answered the other prayer, but there’s another one, make it complete for me plea-se, I prayed and kept creating heat using my hands.
Few minutes later lights flashed again and I stood up this time determined to show myself. I saw it was a bus and there were bags of food stuffs on the roof. Seeing that i knew market women are just returning and i quic-kly stretched my hands waving at them as they approached,
“help me plea-se, plea-se help me! I kept shouting and i saw few women awake in the bus,
“plea-se in the name of God! I screamed and knelt down when it was like the bus wanted pas-sing and it st©pped after it pas-sed me.
Seeing that I dragged myself to it and greeted the driver,
“What are you doing out here? He asked.
“Sir I was kidnapped, i just managed to see myself here, plea-se help me, I replied.
“She’s even with a school uniform and that’s my daughter school, a woman I couldn’t see said inside.
“Yes plea-se I’m not a bad person, I’m even the school girl’s s£nior prefect, I said.
“Come in come in, the driver said opening the front door for me. Though there was a fat woman sitting there who was slee-ping, she had to adjust for me and he drove off.
I was thrown questions from all angle, and my pres£nce in the bus woke up those who were slee-ping that I was tired of answering.
“plea-se can I call my dad? I asked.
“Yes yes, the driver said giving me his phone and I dialed my dad number.
Just like before he quic-kly picked up,
“Hello! He said.
“Dad where are you? I asked.
“Joan we are just about driving out, where are you so i can pick you up? He asked.
“Dad speak with the driver, I said giving the driver the phone…………
