✏Allison’s POV✏
.
“I think I know the people that killed my parents” I said. I mean, I would, right? The card re-ader should have those answers.
“How? You saw the faces of those killers?” He asked, giving me a full glance.
“I did see one of their face though” I said.
“And you know that person?”
“No. The thing is, my dad gave something before that incident.
He worked as a gardener and his boss had been scared that his enemies were after his life cos he had some of their secrets that could tarnish their images real bad, apparently, he didn’t trust even his own family. So, he gave it to dad to keep for a while until he was sure he was secured enough.

Dad, gave it to me; scared that he might misplace it or keep it and forget about it. And some minutes after that they were attacked and killed. And the more I think about it, I’m pretty sure we had no enemies, we were at peace with everyone we knew, not even once did we had issues with anyone. The only doubtless reason has to be that card re-ader, it’s either dad’s boss snitched on him or someone else found out about that stuff being with dad and they c@m£ for it” I said, telling him my whole thoughts.
Well, what doubt do I have to distrust him. He’s like the only person I have now.

“You’re with that card re-ader, right now?” He asked.
“Yes but it’s in the room. I’ll get it, hold on” I stood up and made it out of his pres£nce. I opened the door, went in and gr@bb£d my p@n-ts, I pu-ll-ed the re-ader from it’s pocket and walked out. “Here” he took the re-ader from me, examining it.
“And you’ll do what?” He asked, bringing his gaze to me.
“Huh?” I asked, not getting his question.
“I mean, if eventually this holds the answer you seek, what would you do?” He asked.
“Um.. definitely I’ll get revenge somehow” I said.
“What’s your plan?” He asked.
“Well, first I have to be able to fully control myself from my parent’s death. I would have to kick back to my normal self, somehow and maybe then I’ll think of a plan” I said.
“Okay.. I’ll give you the l@pt©p when it’s fully charged. Let me help you in-sert this first, in case it nee-ds to load or something” he said and I nodded.
“Um Mr Jonas-
“Jonas. Call me Jonas” he said. “And we’re not strangers um-
“Allison. My name is Allison but you can call me Allie if you want” I said, suddenly feeling a bit guilty for not telling him when he had first asked.
“Allison, we’re not strangers. We met before that night and well, you were pretty tough and less formal with me-
“Yeah, about that. I’m sorry if I sounded mean back then and probably created a bad impression on you but I’m not like that, you were just kind of-
“Annoying and pushy” he completed and I said nothing, knowing it was the right words. He gave a very short laugh. “I know and you don’t have to be sorry, I wouldn’t have preferred you less. That attitude of yours got me interested in you, I wanted to know more about that girl that acted so different from any other to me” he said and I smiled lopsidedly.
He picked up the box.
“You should get re-ady, well be going to the mall to get you more clothes” he said. “And some other things you might nee-d”
“Oh, thank you and I’m re-ady” I said, standing up..
“Okay, I’ll be right back!” He said and walked out.

🖤Jonas POV🖤
.
Getting to my room, I stared at the card. Gavin’s words repeated itself in my head.
This is it..
A blank expression crossed my face as I thought about it, I ran a hand down my hair.
There’s definitely no way I can give this back to Gavin, I mean I alre-ady told him I got rid of the girl after finding nothing on her.
How do I explain this?
Sh*t! I mumbled, moistening myl-ips and itching my hair ha-rd .

I stared confusedly at the card re-ader before leaving it on the nightstand, I gr@bb£d my car keys and walked to my wardrobe, opening it; I took out two thick leather jacket and shut it. gr-abbing my phone, I head out of my room.
“Here, put this on. It’s cold outside” I informed her.
“Thank you” she collected the jacket from me and pu-ll-ed it over her dress. It was big on her b©dy, considering how hvge I am compared to her. I hung mine on my shoulder and we head out, I took the Benz and we both hopped into it; I began the journey.

Quietness was what mostly ensued all throu-gh the journey, ap@rt from the wind of course; we said nothing to each other. I was still thinking about what to do with that re-ader at home.
Should I just let her watch it and explain my p@rt to her?
Telling me about that meant she trusts me but somehow, I don’t think it’s enough to accept my past or my involvement in her parent’s case. Definitely, if she hadn’t shown up as my target that day or if it had been just some random girl; I would’ve killed her without a thought but because it was her, the mystery girl I was trying to unravel. The one that made me realize my soft sp©t or rather, another version of me; I couldn’t.

I parked at a big shopping mall and we both got down, she gathered the jacket well on her b©dy and I helped her Zi-p it up, well not necessarily help, I just did it.
“Thanks” she said and I nodded.
Would she keep thanking me for everything? I mean the attitude was somehow different from when we first met. She must’ve acted tough cos I was a stranger and definitely, pushy.
We walked into the mall one of the workers, directed us to the female wears section as I had inquired.
“Go on, pick whatever you nee-d. I’ll just wait here for you” I said and she nodded before following the lady who led her in. I sat on a chair, waiting for her and thinking again.

Minutes later, they walked out of the section, the lady carrying a bundle of clothes in her hands.
“Is that all?” I asked and she nodded slowly. “Let’s check out some shoes”
We got to where the shoes were and while Allison picked the ones she nee-ded, I helped with some other necessities.

It went on for hours and when our goods were summed up and packed, it filled four big shopping bags. Well, at some point Allison had been skeptical about picking somethings and I had to make sure she was free to choose whatever she wants and she finally loos£ned up and did but I could see she still had a bit of skepticism in her.

I gave my card and after the lady collected her payment, she re-leased the receipt and returned my card. Allison and I took two bags each into the car boot and head into the car.. she had to thank me repeatedly for everything.

“Are you hungry? Should we gr-ab something to eat before going home?” I asked.
“No, I’m fine. I’m still full from breakfast” she said.
“You sure?” I asked and she nodded thrice.

I drove us home. Arriving and parking, I helped Allison with the bags into the house and went out to park the car in the garage.

After parking it properly, I went into the house, I took off my jacket and turned on the heater. After a brief rest, I went into the kitchen to prepare lunch, I quic-kly made two sandwiches and took two cokes from the fridge.
“Allison! Lunch’s re-ady!” I called as I set the meal on the table. She was out in no time and we had a quiet lunch.

After it, she quic-kly cleared the dishes from the table before I could contemplate. I let her be and walked to my room.
Opening the door, I walked in and sat on my be-d. gr-abbing my phone from my pocket, I checked the time and it was few minutes past twelve. I turned it off and left it on the nightstand and my gaze accidentally, dart to the card re-ader.

I picked it up and strolled my f!ngersto the last drawer, I drew it open and took out a box from the end of it. I closed the drawer and left the box on the table.
Carefully, I took out the memory card from the re-ader, placed it on the drawer and opened the box; revea-ling some unimportant memory cards in it.

✏Jonas POV✏

*
“What do you want, Jonas?” He asked, not looking up from the l@pt©p in front of him, as his f!ngersdanced continuously on the keyboard.
“To resign” I answered simply, ma-king his gaze dart sharply to me, filled with curiosity. “I don’t want to do this anymore”
He gave a short hysterical laugh “Okay I don’t think I completely get you. By resign, do you mean take a break or a brief vacation?”
“Not a break nor a vacation but an end to me working for you” I said and his expression went blank, his brows furrowing de-eply.
“Since when have you been thinking about this? And why would you suddenly want to resign, is it something about the other members?”
“First off, yesterday. And me resigning, Is solely my decision and no one’s fault. I’ve decided to spend the rest of my life the way I want, I mean; to explore, travel around and mainly live the more that there is to life. All my life, I’ve never had the chance to and I don’t want to end up like this” I said.
“Jonas,” he called calmly, giving me a direct look. “Decisions like this isn’t something you should make in just few hours. I un-derstand you perfectly but I think what you nee-d is a break. Lately, you guys, especially you have had so much on your plate, it’s been hectic and I un-derstand. With all those blood and fights and deaths. No matter how powerful you are those things will surely get to you and trust me when I say I’ve been there, you just nee-d some time off, I’ll get you a first clas-s ticket to Paris, you can take a week off and-
“Gavin” I cut him off. “I don’t nee-d a break. I want to cut off from this completely. I mean, somehow I’m still a p@rt of it all cos I did some of those jobs myself but I don’t want to do it anymore. You’ve been a great boss, Gavin, my decision has nothing to do with you or anyone. Most of my life, I’ve worked for you. It’s getting really h0t in my head and I’m ageing too, you know I wouldn’t do this forever and trust me, those hours were more than enough to think about it. I’m resigning”
“Jonas-
“Gavin. You won’t be able to st©p me, you know that right?”
“How can you talk about something so vital, this way? You should’ve waited for a more convenient time”
“I didn’t think there was a better time than now. I just made the decision and thought I should make it known ASAP”
“You just thought of-” he st©pped and sighed loudly, placing a palm on his forehead. He positioned himself to give me a full look. “Jonas, I want you to think more about this-
“There’s nothing else to think about. You told me you wouldn’t st©p me when it’s time”
“Yes but I didn’t expect it to be this quic-k and unexpected”
“quic-k? After Twelve years?” I asked, crossing my hand.
“Jonas, plea-se. Just go into more thought, this isn’t the right time for this. There’s so much on me now and having your resignation at the t©p of the plate will just drown me completely”
“Gavin. I want to live a normal life”
“You can’t live a normal life, you know that. What you’ve done-
“Is inevitable, I know. And I’m not trying to erase any of them. I used to believe that my life was all about killing, lying, covering $h!tty mistakes, hiding and destroying but I’ve realized that it’s not all about it. I’m a bad person, we all are and I’m not going to deny that, I just want to pause it forever and experience another p@rt of life with what’s left of me. I didn’t tell you so you could refuse, advise me or try to change it. I’m telling you so you won’t get too surprised when you suddenly can’t find me” I said, gave him a brief look and turned to leave.
“Jonas?” He called and I st©pped, turning to look at him.
“How about a final request? Obviously, I can’t change your mind but to me you’re a gem. You have no idea how important you are to me and this.. resigning stuff is too unaware. Won’t you at least give me the grace to a final request?” He asked.
I turned, our gazes ma-king contact. I lowered my gaze and walked out.
*
*
I slammed the re-ader on the table.. just when I thought I’ve left it all, I’m being catapulted back to it. How do I ever get out of it if I keep doing more bad stuffs, why does this have to pop up?

It’s like being with the squad.
Now thinking about this, the only two options are; getting rid of Allison as instructed or destroying the card and cajoling her into forgetting about this. Weighing them, I realize everything is leading me back to that ruthless Jonas. That b©dy I pu-ll-ed off.
“Arrgh!” I grumbled, pu-lling really ha-rd at my hair.
I picked up the memory card that originally c@m£ with the drive, I slot it back into it.
Let’s see how the right thing goes.

I packed the other useless cards back in the box and left it in the drawer. I stared at the re-ader for a brief moment, sighed loudly and walked out with it.
“Oh.. Jonas. Your l@pt©p, I think it’s fully charged!” Allison said, coming to meet me.
“Oh really” I said, walking to the plug. The light indicated that it truly was fully charged so I unplugged it. I turned and Allison had a hyper inquisitive look at me. I went to the couch and she followed, I sat, carefully leaving the l@pt©p on the table and opened it.

As I connected the USB drive, I noticed as my hand trembled a bit. It’s the first time, I’ll get this nervous and scared about something and for what reason; her?
I sighed softly and connected the re-ader. Using the cursor to my files, it showed up immediately and the card had just three videos in it.
Three videos and nothing else?

He must’ve saved it specifically for whatever secret he must have.

“There” Allison pointed to the first video that displa-yed, “try that one” she said.
As I worked on the mouse, I suddenly developed sweaty palms and I felt very unusual and weird. I cli-cked on ‘pla-y’ and the video occu-pied the screen of the l@pt©p but then it st©pped just as soon as I tapped on it; revea-ling some writings.
“It has a virus” I explained and noticed how her countenance changed. I didn’t know if to feel relieved for myself or sad for her.
“What?” She g@sped. “Do you think they might gotten to it, somehow and tampered with it?” She asked.
“I don’t know” I answered. Her face fell, sadness enveloping her. “Let’s try the next one. There’s gotta be something.. Anything, plea-se!” She said.
“Sure” I said and cli-cked on the next video, it displa-yed and st©pped almost immediately, repeating exactly what the first one had done.

“No! No! No!” Allison suddenly yelled. “This can’t be.. there has to be something! You can’t do this to me, plea-se!” She said to the l@pt©p like it could hear her, hitting the headrest with her palms as tears began forming in her eyes.
I shut my eyes, mixed feeling enveloping me before opening them. Allison suddenly looked at me with a placating expression and led the cursor, operating the mouse. She went to the third video, muttering pleading words as she cli-cked on the video. It loaded for a while and almost immediately, Gavin’s face appeared, the video pla-yed!.. My heartbeat took a leap and her face brightened up.
He took out a mask, the usual mask we used on every of our operation and pu-ll-ed it on.
“This is it!” Allison said. “This is exactly the mask they wore that night!” She said and I felt my b©dy growing h0t.. Gavin was talking to us and the whole scene hit me like a want of deja Vu. Almost immediately, they c@m£ into view; the squad but without me and they had their masks on. I didn’t bother listening to whatever he was saying as I alre-ady envisioned the next scene and just as I thought, Shane took off his mask and Trevor followed, Allison suddenly g@sped again..
“It’s him!” She said with so much anger, as tears poured from her eyes.. “that bastard killed my parents!” She said, pointing to Trevor, her b©dy shaking violently as she cried..
I quic-kly held her, comforting her with my palm and words as her head rested on my che-st, tears pouring from her eyes.
I stared at the screen and just immediately, I c@m£ into view, Fretting, I quic-kly switched off the l@pt©p..

“We’ll do this when you’re calm” I as-sured Allison whose cries filled the room, my own heart thumping.
