.
✏Jonas POV✏
.
I quic-kly dashed to the bathroom but it had no one in it, I ran out of her room back to the living room and at the dinning area, I found her food just as I had left it; Unt©uçhed and covered. Darting my gaze elsewhere, I ran out of the house and st©pped to glance around again..
Where could she have gone to?
I was just about moving to where my instinct suggested, when I heard a small splash sound from the other corner. I rushed to the area and st©pped when I found her sitting there in front of the big pool of water, she looked lost in it as her hand moved, throwing small stones into the water. I walked to her..
“Hey” I called, remembering I didn’t know her name. She looked startled and her gaze slowly shifted to me and paused there. I noticed the dried tears lines on her cheeks and abs£ntly, my gaze moved to herl-ips- they were dried and chaffed.
“Here you are, I was looking for you” I said, filling our space a little.
She lowered her lashes.
“I-I” her voice was low and shaky. “I suddenly I saw my mom and followed her to this place but I can’t find her” she said, it sounded like she was talking with her breath, cos each words c@m£ like an audible sigh. “So I just stayed here” she said, sounding like she was about to breakdown but she didn’t.
Seriously.. how do you calm or console a person going throu-gh such trauma? I don’t even know what to do..

Should I just take her to a thera-pist?
I took more closer steps to her and noticed a slash on her hand, a little below her wrist and dried blood surrounded it. I crouch beside her and took the hand in my palm, examining the wound. I gave her a look, her gaze was on me too.
“Did you do this?” I asked and for a moment she said nothing then lowered her gaze and nodded twice.
“Seeing her, I thought I was dead too. So I checked” she said. “It doesn’t hurt that much though” she added. I sighed gently, staring at her subtle face.
“It still nee-ds to be treated so it doesn’t get infected. The first aid kits are inside, cmon” I said, offering my hand to help her up, she took it and I as-sisted her in standing up. She seemed almost weightless. I stared fully at her, she had a cut on her leg as well and the wound on her toe was open too, her feet were ba-re. She had a milk-colored dress on, you could tell it was originally milk colored but now it looked more like brown.
I still held her palm as we both made it inside, I bolted the door and asked her to wait on a couch while I get the first aid box. I brou-ght it out and walked back to her, settling beside her, I took her hand and examined the wound.
How would any normal person cut herself this de-ep? Should I just take her to a thera-pist or just hang on for a while, she’s still in the early stage of her trauma. I began treating the wound and before I applied the iodine, her hand trembled and almost sli-pped off mine but I held it firmly, she shut her eyes and drew her lower l!pinto her mouth. A s-en-se of deja vu washed throu-gh me at the action. I gave her a brief look and applied it.
“Sorry” I said as she let out a muffled cry.
I closed the wound up with a medicated plaster and attended to the rest of her wound.
“All done!” I informed her, putting the items back in the box. Her dryl-ips opened, like she wanted to say something but then closed. “You didn’t eat your food. You don’t like what I made?” I said.
“I wasn’t hungry” she said, her gaze lowered. I stared at her dryl-ips and stood up, I gr@bb£d the jug from the dinning table and filled a glas-s with water from it , I walked up to her.
“Do you want some water?” I asked and she nodded, gave me a brief look and took the cu-p from me, chvgging down the whole liquid at a go like her life depended on it. “More?” I asked and she nodded ra-pidly, holding the glas-s cu-p out, I filled it for her and she gulped it all up and asked for another.. After the third glas-s, she sighed in satisfaction.
“Thank you” she said, her voice coming out more audible now.
“Would you like me to make you some food?” I asked.
“Actually, I just nee-ded water. I don’t have the appetite for food. Can I just go to be-d instead?” She asked, ma-king direct eye contact with me, her look was soft and demanding.
“Uh.. Sure” I said and she stood up and began walking away. “Hey!” I called and she st©pped, turning to look at me. “Don’t hesitate to tell me if you nee-d anything or someone to talk to. I’m right here, okay?” I asked.
She nodded twice. “Yeah. Thank you, for everything” she said and continued her journey. I stared after her until she was out of sight.

💫Zoe’s POV💫
.
I took a long drag from the cigarette and blew it out slowly. It was my favorite smoking mood; I added the other leg on the first that was alre-ady on the couch. Boss gave me a knowing frown and I shrugged.
“Why are we here, anyways?” I asked after the brief silence.
“Well, we all know Jonas alre-ady backed out of the team, he seemed to be pretty made up about it but I still believe he’ll come around and for now, you guys are left without a leader. I alre-ady picked Trevor as the temporary new team leader, I told him alre-ady. And I felt I should let y’all know too. Meanwhile, Zoe still remains the as-sistant” he said.
“Seriously? Mr h0t p@n-ts” I mumbled with an eye roll, taking the ash off the stick mouth. I guess everyone expected that.
“Boss, I would’ve told you this pri-vately but I think I nee-d some support on this too,” Trevor said. “About Jonas, I was wondering, don’t you think he might want to snitch up on us or something?”
Okay, where’s this loser heading to? I sat up to listen more. “I mean he’s out of the team, there’s a possibility that it might happen. Remember, Shane? He did it too, right? No one expected it but still he snitched on us and almost got us into a mess if we hadn’t found out; anyone can” he said and I scoffed. ”
“What are you insinuating, team leader? That we get rid of your rival?” I asked with a tone of mockery, he noticed it but said nothing to me.
“Anyone else thinks the same way?” He asked for support from the others but no one gave it. I scoffed again.

“Jonas?” Boss spoke up and chuckled hysterically. “You’re right, Trevor. But Jonas can’t do that, ap@rt from the trust, I’ve got him all covered up. I doubt that he’ll ever snitch up on us and even if he does, it’ll be his loss in the end, I’ve got so much on him, I’m pretty sure revea-ling us would be the last thing on his mind” boss said, laughing again.
“Well um.. if you say so” Trevor said, obviously disappointed.

After boss re-leased us, I quic-kly accosted Trevor before he could get into his car.
“And what the fv¢k was that about, huh?” I asked, leaning on his car door.
“What?” He asked.
“Don’t you dare pl@ydumb on me, what was that about Jonas snitching on us?” I asked.
“Oh, that. I total forgot he has a girlfriend in the squad. Or is it still a one-sided thing?” He asked, mockery very evident in his voice.
“That’s none of your business and you better stay off Jonas path!” I said.
“Should I just tell boss about you both?” He asked, giving me a lopsided grin.
“Never Trevor, never would you be even quarter as good as Jonas, no matter how ha-rd you try. Jonas still has that hvge sp©t in Gavin’s heart; beat that! And the earlier you accept your loser self and back off from him, the better for you!” I examined his look, it was all plain anger. I gave him a glare and walked out, putting my black shades on as I reached my car.

🖤Allison’s POV🖤
.
I jammed the door shut behind me and walked to the open window, I dR@p£d the curtain further to one side to get a more clearer view. Standing, I felt weak but at the same time that appetite for food wasn’t there. The early evening wind blew, slicing throu-gh my hair and s£nding it to sway lavishly.
I thought of that night- the night that was still so fresh in my head.
Dad’s smiling face c@m£ throu-gh as he helped me take my new bike out of the truck boot and then my extremely excited face zoomed in. I remembered how he had hvgged me so lovingly while mom just smiled behind us, it brou-ght a sad smile to my face.

How would life be without them?

As he walked away, he had squee-zed something into my palm, telling me of how vital it was. I didn’t place much interest on it then, cos all I wanted my attention on, was the bike. Slowly, I reached into my pocket and felt it, I brou-ght it out and peered at it. Dad’s exact words rang in my head, I recalled how he kept repeating why I should keep it safe.. I stared up, recollecting the memories with a thoughtful expression then I stared back at the card re-ader.
Could it be the same people that were after dad boss’s life? Did they come to us for this after finding out somehow that dad has it?? Did his boss snitch on him?
The more I think about it, I couldn’t think of anyone that would want to harm my parents; talk more of wanting them dead in such a horrible way without at least letting their bodies rest in the earth. They were peace itself.. This definitely has to be it!

My f!ngersslowly ru-bbe-d the card in my hand. My gaze facing the window and into the open dark street.
Now I get it, I know why I had been chanced not to end up like them; to live. Someone has got to stay alive to find reveal those horrible monsters.
Someone has got to avenge their death- Me.

CHAPTER 8

.
✏Jonas POV✏
.
My eyes slowly fluttered open and I sat up almost immediately, letting out a slight yawn. I pu-ll-ed the duvet aside and got up, stretching my b©dy a little, I put my be-d in order and dR@p£d the curtain over to one side, letting the morning natural air hit me.
My gaze caught the brightness of my phone light on the nightstand and curiously, I picked it and saw that it had just st©pped ringing; I had switched it to silent before going to be-d. I tap on the caller ID and changed the settings back to speaker. My brows narrowed when I saw that the caller was Zoe and she had left sixty-two missed calls. I sighed despondently and was about giving her a call when my phone began ringing and as expected, she was the caller. I picked the call..

“How long do you plan to keep this going with this?” I asked.
“Until you pick up,” she said and from the heavy wind that went along with her voice, I as-sumed she was driving. “And why weren’t you taking my calls?”
“You called all night, Zoe. Who does that? I was fast asleep and left my phone on silent and just saw you calls when I woke up. Did you spend your night calling me?” I asked.

“Most of it” she said and I sighed softly.
“Well, why’d you call?” I asked.
“I want us to hangout today. Are you free?” She asked.
“No”
“Why? What’re you doing? Did you get another job alre-ady or something?”
“I didn’t and I alre-ady have plans for today”
“Well, I’m bored. Can I come run your plan with you?” She asked. “Just tell me your address”
“I’m not giving you my address, Zoe. I alre-ady told you that before” I said.
“So you plan to live your life alone? That’ll be ridiculous, man. You’d nee-d a company sometimes. Or you’ve got friends alre-ady?”
“I don’t nee-d friends. I’m hanging up now”
“Not on my call, Jonas. You might not want to tell me now but you know I’ll find out anyways. I can’t do that now cos I’m still stuck in this stupid town but I’ll find you once I get out, trust me, handsome” she said and I could tell she was sm-irking.

The call got disconnected, I left the phone on the nightstand, running a hand down my hair; I walked to the bathroom to start the morning.

♥️Allison’s POV♥️
.

I woke up to the sound of a knock on my door. How I sle-pt last night still remained a mystery cos I had spent most of the night on the be-d, after feeling very worn out from standing; I had fell on the be-d, thinking and well, crying with the ache spre-ading all over my b©dy and I probably stayed in that position until I couldn’t cry or think anymore.
The we-t pillow ru-bbe-d a side of my face as I made to sit up, I stood and walked to the door before flinging it open, he was standing there in his nightwear with his hair and face deemed, probably from the shower.
“Oops, did I wake you up?” He asked, giving me a placating look.
“Yeah but It’s fine, I guess I sle-pt in” I said.
“Not really, it’s just few minutes past seven. Well, I just wanted to give you this. I got you some clothes yesterday. I wasn’t sure of your size so I just picked an elastic dress” he said, holding a shopping bag towards me.
“Thank you” I said, taking the bag from him.
“Um.. how’s your injury doing? Does it still hurt?” He asked and abs£ntly, my gaze went to my hand and I shook my head.
“It doesn’t, thanks to you” I said and he smiled p@rtly. With the way hisl-ips shaped as he smiled, I could tell smiling wasn’t really his thing.
“And um, I’m ma-king bacon and eggs for breakfast, is that okay by you?” He asked.
“Um actually-
“I’m not letting you skip breakfast again, you’ve starved for too long and even if you should go on, breakfast is a very important meal that you shouldn’t skip, it could be bad for your health” he said.
“Um.. bacon and eggs is fine then” I said with a slight smile, ru-bbing my temple.
“Okay, I’ll see you at the dinning,” he said and made to go but st©pped and turned before I could shut the door.
“Um.. there are some waterproofs in the shower cabinet in case you nee-d to cover those up while taking a bath. I’ll change them after breakfast” he said and I nodded.
“Thank you” I said and he nodded, gave me a brief smile and walked away. I shut the door and gave myself a proper look.

I definitely look like I could use a bath. I went into the bathroom with a towel, I took a proper look at it and couldn’t help but get really amazed at the sight. He must’ve spent a fortune working on this bathroom alone talk more of the whole house.
I sight a tub opposite the toilet but at a very far end. I undressed, letting the air washing my n-ked skin. I bent and began filling the tube with water, while letting it to fill up, I tied the towel around my b©dy. Feeling uneasy, I walked to the toilet to re-lease the rest of my bowel content.
*

I walked to the mirror, the cloth fitted. Because of it’s elasticity at the upper p@rt, it hvgged my upper b©dy, adding to my bo-ob s while the down p@rt was flare. It was a very beautiful dress. I ran my f!ngersdown my hair as a substitute for a comb before packing it in a quic-k bun, I tried the flops on, it wasn’t exactly my size as it had some free space as the back but it was comfy. I walked out of my room to the living room and almost at the same tim, he walked out of what I’d say was the kitchen cos he carried a small tray that contained food with him.. The aroma wafted in the air immediately and my stomach grumbled, I looked down embarras-sed when he flashed me a small smile. As he left the tray on the dinning, he pu-ll-ed a chair out and sat before giving me a look, I mumbled an “oh” and sat on a chair too.

“Help yourself” he invited and I nodded happily and dished myself some Bacons and eggs, the smell was heavenly and as I took a hvge bite into my mouth, I felt my whole b©dy asking for more and I wasted no time in granting their wants.
He helped me fill a cu-p with water and another with coffee while he dished his own food.
After breakfast, I helped wipe the food crumbs on the table while he packed the dishes after opposing my offer to do it. I threw the dirt in the compost bin and when he walked out, he had a first aid box with him..

I sat and he began undressing and redressing my wounds. I felt really nervous, as he worked quietly on my injuries. I guess I haven’t said much to him and I kind of felt bad about it.

“Um.. mister Jonas?” I called and he stared up at me; he was below me as he treated my toe wound.
“Uh.. I just wanted to say thank you for everything. It must’ve been kind of inconvenient having a new face around and I might’ve not said this but I’m really grateful to you. I wouldn’t have been alive if you hadn’t saved me that night-” I made a slight pause as the memory rushed back to my head but I waved it off with a shake of my head. “You’re very kind, thank you” I said, my f!ngersfumbling with each other on both palm that was rested on my l@ps.
“You’re welcome. I’m glad you’re coming back” he said and I nodded.
“Um.. Mr Jonas, I hope I won’t be sounding too ungrateful but I really don’t have anywhere else to go, I mean I have relatives but we don’t really get along and I have no idea where they are, I’m also not familiar with people around, I’ve lived more like an introvert since I moved here and-,” I paused, looking around as if I sp©tted something new. “We’re not in Lonatown, are we?” I asked instead.
“No, we’re far away from it” he said and I nodded, relieved. The thoughts alone that those people would be after me, made me shudder. I brou-ght my gaze forward and found him staring at me, I lowered my gaze a little.
“Um.. I-I just wanted to ask if I could stay here,” I said and he was quiet for a moment, I re-ad more into that quietness. “No, of course it’s not forever. Just for a while, not too far, actually. Hopefully, I’d get a good paying job and be able to get a place of my own” I said, hoping I said it right and earnestly praying that he’d accept. Not that I know where exactly to start from but definitely, I have to start from somewhere. It’s not like I’m going to live here forever anyways, I mean even if I want to cos obviously, I don’t have anywhere to go; it’ll be really ungrateful on my p@rt.
“Sure” he said simply.
“Really?” I asked out if excitement and he nodded. “Thank you so much!” I stuttered, clasping my palms together to show my gratitude.
He went back to finishing up with my wound while I s£nt my gaze to anywhere but him.

My gaze caught a l@pt©p on a coffee table, charging and I suddenly remembered the card re-ader, I felt nervous wanting to ask him for it.
“Mr Jonas?” I called after he stood up and began packing the kits back into the box and gathering the used ones.
“Yes?” He answered, looking at me.
“Um.. do you mind if I borrow your l@pt©p?” I asked and I think he didn’t expect the question because his brows suddenly raised.
“Not at all. Do you nee-d something from it?” He asked.
“I-I think I know the people that killed my parents” I said and his expression went blank immediately.
