🌻🌞A Wish🌼
Chapter 3

“What the fudge?!”
Damon snickered. “Fudge?”
I glared at him. “I don’t like swearing.”
I turned to face Xavier who was alre-ady looking at me with his usual blank expression. “Why did you do that?” I asked him.
“Do what?”
“Defend me!” I exclaimed angrily.
“Aren’t you suppose to say thank you.” Alex chirped. I forget that he’s here, considering the fact that he’s been really quiet.
I scowled at him. “He just made it worse!”
“What do you mean by that?” Xavier demanded. “Don’t tell me you were going to let that as-s-hole order your around, I helped you, the least you can say is thank you.”
I shook my head, backing away from them. “No! Don’t you get it? Because of what you did my bullying is only going to get worse. Zayn is going to be breathing down my n£¢k every 24/7 in school.” They all stared at me, speechless. Alex and Damon jaw hung open, eyes wi-de. While Xavier still had his usual blank look on but I did see a flash of pity fli-cker in his eyes.
Giving them one last glare, I stormed pas-s them and went to my favourite place in the school building, the roof. When I got there I sat down, pu-lling my knees close to my che-st. while looking up at the sky. I know what I said to Xavier was terrible and I sounded ungrateful, but I cant help in getting angry at him. My previous friends who tried to defend me got bullied by Zayn friends and it only made Zayn bully me more. The people who I had called my friends abandoned me the next day and soon joined my tormentors.
Last summer Zayn got suspended because I reported him to the vice principal when he cheated off my test script. I was in for it when he c@m£ back, he made all his friends to punch and kick me. That day I got a broken nose.
I gro-an ed when the bell rang, indicating that lunch was over. I quic-kly stood up and dusted my backside before heading towards my locker. I got my books and went to the next clas-s.
Great!
The clas-s is alre-ady filled up.
And the only available seat is between Damon and Xavier. I thought they’re both s£niors, why are they here in economic’s clas-s? Oh, we usually have some clas-ses with s£niors.
I hesitantly walked over to the back row and sat down between Damon and Xavier, trying not to glance at either of them.
“You might wanna fix that scowl on your face.” Damon whispered in my ear, his warm breath tickling my cheek.
“Leave. Me. Alone.” I gritted out.
“Am not holding you cu-pcake.” He sm-irked.
I rolled my eyes and turned to face Xavier. “Is he always like this?”
Xavier shrugged. “Sort of.” His face suddenly changed into that of a serious expression as he pinned me with his gaze, I really want to look away and avoid his beautiful grey eyes, but out of pure intimidation I cant.
“Are you being bullied?” He asked, I could see the way his perfect jaw was clenched as he gave me a look that says ‘don’t you dare lie to me’
I gulped, not expecting that question from him. “What makes you think that am being bullied.”
Damon snorted. “Oh cu-pcake its pretty obvious.” I decided to just ignore the cu-pcake thing cause I knew Damon wasn’t going to st©p calling me that.
“Like the way you allowed that moron order you around.” Xavier pointed out.
“Plus, you seemed so scared of us when you bu-mped into Xavier.” Damon stated.
“It doesn’t matter, you’ll just turn up like them.” I muttered.
“No matter how a girl annoy the cra-p out of me, I can never l@ymy hand on her.” Xavier said, staring at my eyes. I blu-shed and looked down, feeling bu-tterflies flutter in the pit of my stomach. The awkward silence was tuned down as we focused on the oblivious teacher who was teaching the clas-s about Elasticity of Demand and supply.
As the clas-s ended, Xavier was the first to get up and pack his books, he whispered something to Damon before leaving. I decided to walk with Damon to my next clas-s cause I was scared that Zayn will corner me somewhere in the hall or janitor closet. Noah, one of Zayn friends sighted me and he immediately glared. Damon noticed my stiff form and glanced at where Noah was.
“What?” Damon spat.
Noah shook his head, sm-irking. “Just wanted to let the bit-ch know that Zayn is out to get her.” He walked out of the clas-s before Damon could say anything.
“Unbelievable.” Damon muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.”
“Meet me, Xavier and Alex in the school backyard after the bell rings for closing.” With that, Damon walked out of the clas-s, leaving me confused.
~*~*~
“Let me down this instant, this is kidnapping!” I exclaimed, trying to wiggle myself free from Xavier ti-ght grip.
“Stay still.” Xavier grumbled, a hint of annoyance in his tone, but I don’t care. Doesn’t he knows its rude to throw someone over your shoulder.
“We just want to talk.” Alex said softly.
“No $h!t sherlock!”
“So the good girl curses.” Damon said, I could practically imagine the smug sm-irk on hisl-ips. I gro-an ed out loud and gave up, letting the trio take me away.
After my last chat with Damon earlier in school today, about me meeting him, Xavier and Alex in the school backyard after closing. When school ended I reluctantly went to the school backyard and I saw them. At first I was scared, thinking they called me over there to beat me up. But the looks on their faces made me relax. I thought it was just to have a conversation but Damon said I should go with them to the park. I immediately refused. Alex and Damon pleaded but I refused to give in.
However Xavier patient with me finally reached its limits. The next thing I knew is him throwing me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing. That’s how I got angry and demanded to be put down.
As Xavier finally set me down, I stumbled a little due to the fact that I was upside down for ten minutes. Xavier steadied me, his hands on my shoulder.
Muttering a small ‘thank you’ I faced the trio, my arms crossed over my che-st as I glared at them, waiting for someone to explain to me what the fudge is going on.
Xavier was the first to speak up, clearing his throat. “We um… wanted to talk to you.”
I sh0t him a blank look. “I know, that’s why am waiting for you guys to explain to me what the fudge is going on!”
“We have a deal to make with you.” Damon stated.
I furrowed my brows, feeling slightly confused. “Huh?”
“We’ve noticed that from your recent actions today, you get bullied everyday. Right?” Xavier asked and I nodded my head. “The deal is that you’ll become our friend and stick with us, and we’ll make sure you’re not hurt in anyway. If you don’t trust us after two weeks, we’ll be out of your hair and won’t bother you but that doesn’t mean we’ll abandon and let you get hurt.” I listened as Xavier explained, before coming to a conclusion.
“But why?”
“What?” Damon asked in confusion.
I re-leased a breath, looking down at my hand. “Why would you want to be friends with someone like me? Why not any other girl in school?”
“You’re the only girl in school who didn’t look at us like we’re some piece of meat. You’re kind and humble.” Alex said, flashing me a genuine smile. I smiled back at him.
“And you looked lonely.” Damon blurted out, wincing as Alex sl@pped him behind the head.
I gawked at Damon, slightly offended by his statement. “I’m not lonely!”
Xavier snorted. “Almost all the school hates your guts and you don’t have friends.” I pursed myl-ips, tugging at the hem of my hoodie.
“Fine.” I mumbled.
“What?” Alex asked, not sure if he heard me right.
“I said fine! I’ll be your friend.” Alex and Damon both had excited smiles on their faces, except for Xavier who is very good at masking up his emotions with a blank expression.
“There will be rules.” Xavier stated bluntly.
“Rules?” I asked confused. Xavier nodded and handed me a paper. The handwritting was really neat. I sat down on a bench beside the tree that shaded the four of us, and began re-ading the rules out loud.
“1. We tell each other everything. If Brielle has a problem that’s bothering her she has to come to us.
2. No one is to make Brielle feel sad, scared or uncomfortable.
3. One of us should always be with Brielle wherever she goes in school, except the girls restroom.
4. Brielle is not allowed to sit alone when its lunch time.
5. Refrain from ma-king Brielle feel insecure.
6. Brielle should not feel timid when she’s on her lady days.
7. Brielle should’nt refuse anything given to her from us.
8. No secrets should be hidden if its serious.”
“I’m not telling you guys when am on my period.” I blurted out, feeling my face heat up in embarras-sment as I re-ad the sixth rule again. Damon face immediately reddened as he cursed un-der his breath.
“Well….” Alex said, his face heating up. “We nee-d to know just in case you’re having mood swings.”
“So we can get you chocolates and stuffs…” Xavier trailed off, scratching the back of his n£¢k. Its a little funny and cute seeing him flvstered.
‘Get a hold of yourself Brielle’
“No!” I exclaimed. “Can we just drop it.” They nodded simultaneously, letting out a relieved sigh.
I got up and handed the paper back to Xavier. “Who wrote these rules anyway?”
“Damon.”
I snorted. “I’m not surprised.”
Damon immediately frowned. “What does that mean?”
Alex placed a hand on Damon shoulder. “No offence bro, but those rules are not well written.”
“What?” Damon exclaimed. “Don’t blame me I just scribbled it out in clas-s.”
“Its a $h!tty writing.” Xavier said bluntly. Damon g@sped, as he faked a sniff.
“But you did great though.” I commented, giving Damon a soft smile. His eyes lit up like a kid who was given a chocolate bar.
He childishly stuck his ton-gue out at Xavier who rolled his eyes, muttering someting about ‘immaturity’ un-der his breath. I chuckled and glanced up at sky. My eyes wi-de-ned when I saw what time it is.
3:50!
“Fudge, fudge, fudge!”
“What’s wrong?” Alex asked, his tone lacing with concern. Even Damon and Xavier stared at me with worried expressions.
“I-i g-gotta go.” I quic-kly picked up my bag and ran, ignoring their calls.
By the time I arrived home my palms were sweaty when I saw Liam’s car parked in the garage. I gulped, walking towards the front door. The door creaked a little when I opened it. Inside was quiet, too quiet. Just as I turned, am met with a fist. The f0rç£ of the hit s£nt me stumbling backwards, losing my balance. I screamed in pain, tears bluring my vision as I held my throbbing cheek. I looked up to see Liam hovering over me, his eyes bloodsh0t red.
“You’re late.” He said with a dark glint in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, I lost track of time.” I whimpered, cowering away but he held my arm in a death grip as he glared dangerously at me.
“When am done dealing with you, you’ll remember to come home right on time.” Liam punched me in the stomach. I g@sped, trying to hit him but he was five times stronger than me.
After Liam got tired of punching me, he straightned himself up and walked out if the living room. I dragged my b©dy to my room and gr@bb£d the first aid kit. I swallowed some painkillers and cleaned up my bruises before I got up and went to the kitchen, to cook dinner. Liam deprived me of food and I had no problem with it.
My homework wasn’t that much, so I didn’t have a problem in working on all of them. As I l@yon my be-d to sleep, my last thought was.
‘How am I going to explain the bruise on my cheek and arm to Xavier, Damon and Alex.’

Chapter 4
The annoying blaring sound from my alarm clock woke me up at exactly 5:30, I turned the alarm off and sat up, yawning. I got up from the be-d and waltzed my way over to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and took my bath, wra-pping a towel around my che-st and hair.
After drying my hair I walked over to my wardrobe, searching for what to put on today. When I saw my reflection in the mirror, I could still see a red mark on my cheek from the punch Liam gave me. I decided to go with a black long sleeve turtle n£¢k, blue jeans and a pair of white converse.
I gr@bb£d my backpack and headed downstairs to the kitchen, to make pancakes and h0t chocolate for breakfast. My eyes fli-ckered to the stairs, seeing Liam ma-king his way over to the kitchen. He had bags un-der his eyes, his hair was a mess. Without noticing me, Liam casually made his way to the fridge and gr@bb£d a bottled water.
“Good morning sir.” He replied with a gruff ‘Morning’
“Um sir c-c-can i-i… Um-”
“Spit it out bit-ch!” Liam glared at me.
“A boy in my clas-s was paired with me to do a project, can I go over to his place after we close from school?” I blurted out.
Liam narrowed his eyes at me and walked up to me, his 6’2 towering over my 5’9 height. I gulped and looked down but he harshly gr!pp£dmy chin, forcing me to look up at him. He seems to be searching for any signs if am lying to him. He finally let go off my chin and I internally re-leased a breath.
“You can.” Liam grumbled.
“Thank you sir.” I quic-kly walked out of the kitchen and headed to the door in the living room. I opened the door, closing it gently bebind me. I held my backpack ti-ght as I walked to school. When I arived in school, I kept my head down and walked up to my locker.
Placing my backpack in my locker, I closed it and was about to head up to the roof when a voice st©pped me. “Brielle? Oh, hey Brielle!”
Fudge! Its Damon!
Without looking back, I sprinted down the hallway, trying to avoid being seen by Damon. I could hear him running after me and calling my name.
“Brielle! Hold up!” I heard Alex yell. Oh god now its Alex? When I could hear their approaching footsteps close by I increa-sed my pace. I opened the door to a random clas-sroom and ran inside, leaning against the wall. I heaved a sigh of relief, thinking I was free.
“Why are you avoiding us?” A voice suddenly said out of no where. I skrie-ked, wh!pping my head so fast to where the voice c@m£ from. Xavier was standing few feets away from me, his arms crossed and his face was blank as usual. I quic-kly looked down, remembering the bruise on my cheek.
“Am not avoiding you.” I replied, still kerping my head down while fiddling with my f!ngers. Xavier let out a frustrated sigh and was about to say something when the back door flung open. I raised my head a little and saw that it was just Alex and Damon.
“Oh you found her! I don’t why she was running! She’s not suppose to be scared of us anymore, when she saw me she started running an-” Xavier sl@pped his hand over Damon’s mouth.
“Your rambling is really annoying.” Damon must have li-cked Xavier’s hand cause he immediately re-moved his hand, his face scrunching up in disgust.
“fv¢king pig.” Xavier muttered. Damon just sm-irked at him. As they snapped their heads to my direction I quic-kly looked down, pla-ying with the hem of my t©p.
“Brielle why are you looking down?” Alex soft voice asked. Oh fudge! Am doomed!
“Brielle.” Damon called, his voice tone sounding serious. “Look at us.”
“I-i um…” Gosh am speechless. I slowly walked backwards, trying to run but went stiff when I felt a pres£nce in front of me. The pres£nce has such a cold and intimid@t!ngaura.
“Brielle, look at me.” Xavier demanded, his turning voice dee-per. When I didn’t respond Xavier gr!pp£dmy chin in his f!ngersand slowly raised my head up. He pushed my hair to the side of my face, revea-ling the red mark on my cheek. Alex g@sped a little, his eyes fli-ckering with different emotions. The look on Damon face nearly made me shrink back in fear. His fist were balled up, jaw clenched, his light brown eyes darkened dangerously. He looked re-ady to kill. If this is Damon’s reaction then how will Xavier react? I slowly brou-ght my eyes to Xavier, who still held my chin. His grey eyes looks stormy, full of anger and rage, veins were popping out in his arms, his perfect jaw was clenched. The look in his eyes made me want to run away from him but I knew his anger wasn’t directed at me.
I turned to face the side when he brou-ght his eyes down to look at me, but he gr!pp£dmy jaw.
“Brielle.” I flin-ched at the tone of his voice. “Who did this?”
“Um n-no one.” I stuttered, looking down at my hands only for Xavier to hold my chin again, forcing me to look at him.
“No one?” Damon scoffed. “St©p lying to us Brielle, just tell the damn truth!”
“Just tell us Brielle, who did this to you?” Alex soft voice had authority and sterness in them. I shrinked un-der their intense stares. Just when I was about to speak up, the bell rang.
Thank God! Saved by the bell.
Seeing that Xavier was distracted, I quic-kly opened the door and ran towards my locker, gr-abbing my books before heading to clas-s. The clas-s was filled up and as usual I got glares from most of the students. I slid into the back row and sat down. Alex was the next to walk in clas-s, taking a seat beside me. I brou-ght out a book and pretended to re-ad it when I felt his eyes on the side of my face. A hand snatched the book am re-ading from my hands, I turned to glare at the person only to see that it was Alex, who held it while glaring at me.
I sighed, ru-bbing my forehead. “What is it this time?”
“You have’nt told me or the guys what happened to your face.” He deadpanned.
“I ran into a wall.” I blurted out.
Alex eyebrows crea-sed in a confused manner. “Am not stupid Brielle, if you ran into a wall am suppose to see the bruise on your nose not your cheek.” Before I could reply the teacher walked in. I used that as an opportunity to snatch my book back from Alex.
Alex leaned forward and whispered in my ear. “Just know that you cant lie to Xavier, he’ll f0rç£ the truth out of you.” He had a satisfied sm-irk on his face when he heard me gulp.
When the bell later rang for lunch after third period, I got up and walked out of clas-s. Most students that pas-sed didn’t glare, push or trip me. I sighted Damon walking towards me with a smug sm-irk, pla-ying at the edge of hisl-ips.
“Let’s walk to the cafeteria together Brielle!” Damon wra-pped his arm around my shoulder, pu-lling me close to him as he pla-yfully ruffled my hair. What happened to the scary Damon from early this morning?
I noticed that most students scrambled away when they saw Damon with me.
Furrowing my brows, I faced Damon with a questionong stare. “What did you do?”
“Nothing, I just had a little chat with some of the students in school.”
“Okay…” I drawled out, not believing him.
“Great!” Damon exclaimed. “Let’s head over to the cafeteria, ladies first.” He bowed dramatically, gesturing his hands towards the cafeteria. I rolled my eyes and walked pas-s Damon, with him trailing behind me. When we got to the cafeteria, I sp©tted Xavier and Alex alre-ady seated at my usual table. Well its our table now. Me and Damon got our lunch and walked down towards the table. My eyes drifted to where Zayn and his friends sat, he was glaring straight at me. What made me g@sp was the bandage on his knuckles, his nose was badly bruised. It wasn’t ha-rd to figure out that it was Damon who punched Zayn, considering the fact that Zayn is seething with rage while glaring at Damon.
I sat down and started munching on my food, when I felt eyes on me. I looked up to see Alex, Xavier and Damon giving me angry glares. I thought Damon was happy before? I gulped and looked down at my food, ignoring their stares.
“Brielle.” Alex called and I faced him.
“Hm?”
“Got something to tell us?”
“Yes, I know you punched Zayn, Damon but I swear he wasn’t the one who punched me a-” I clasped my mouth shut, realising that I just told them I got punched.
“And what?” Damon asked in a dark tone.
“N-nothing.” I squeaked.
“Brielle.” Xavier said in a warning tone, giving me one of his cold intimid@t!ngstares. “Who punched you?”
“M-m-my u-um.” Oh my gosh why am I stuttering like this? Xavier is really good at ma-king you feel so small with only a stare.
“Don’t you trust us?” Alex asked, catching me offguard. Do I trust them? I only met them yesterday yet i feel like i’ve known them for years. I feel safe with them, mostly Xavier. Oh my gosh Brielle you did not just say that.
I sighed, not believing I was about to do this. “I cant say I trust you guys yet, but I promise to tell you everything. Not in school though.”
Xavier nodded. “Where do you want us to talk about it?” He asked, his cold stare softening.
“Alex and I have a project to do, so maybe your place?” Xavier nodded again and I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. The three soon forgot about the whole punch thing and we all made small talks. Damon keeps on cracking funny jokes that made me laugh so ha-rd , my cheeks were hurting. I was more surprised to see Xavier laugh. For the first time in years I actually felt happy and safe with the people who I can call my friends.
~*~*~
“Are you going to get in or what?” Damon asked staring at me with an amused expression. I didn’t listen to him though, I just stood there gaping at the most beautiful and coolest car i’ve ever seen. When the boys offered me a ride after school closed, I didn’t expect to see a black audi sports car. It looks so cool and expensive.
“We don’t have all day Brielle.” Xavier said drily. “Get in.” He sat in the front seat behind the wheels while Damon took sh0tgun. I sat at the back with Alex, staring throu-gh the tinted windows.
When we finally arrived at the boys place, I didnt expect to see a house five times bigger than mine.
A fudging mansion!
I got out of the car when Xavier parked in their enormous garage. I saw two other sports cars there.
“Welcome to our humble abode.” Damon said sarcastically.
“Humble abode? Its a fudging mansion!” I exclaimed. Xavier chuckled and Alex just smiled. If I thought outside the mansion was so beautiful, then inside is enormously perfect. A hvge golden chandelier hung gloriously in the middle of the living room.
I faced the trio. “You guys live here?”
“Yep.” Alex said poppoing the p.
“Why do you three stay alone? Where are your parents?” I asked curiously, and immediately regretted it. Alex had a sad and scared look on his face, Xavier grey eyes darkened and Damon fist were balled up.
“I’m so s-sorry guys! I didn’t mean to ask that! plea-se don’t hit me.” I rambled, backing away from them.
“Brielle.”
“I should have known its personal but my big mouth won’t shut up! I’m sorry!”
“Brielle.”
“You guys have been so nice to me and here I am acting like a bit-ch, you’re the only true friends I have and i know you guys hate me now just because I couldn’t ke-”
“Brielle!” Xavier voice boomed. I st©pped rambling and stared at him with wi-de eyes as he carefully approached me. “We don’t hate you and will never ever hurt you. un-derstood?” I nodded, re-leasing a breath.
“So are you going to talk to us now?” Alex asked sheepishly.
“Yeah.” I smiled. They led me to a couch in the living room and I awkwardly sat down. The couch looks so expensive and soft, I was afraid that any slightest mistake will ruin it.
Taking a de-ep breath, I inhaled and exhaled two times before speaking up.
“My step-father abuses me.”
“What?” The three said simutaneously.
“My step-father.” I said, taking a de-ep breath. “He abuses me.”
“He punched me yesterday cause I was late.” Silence, they were all silent as they stared at me.
“Can you.” Xavier started, his hands were gripping the golden edge of the couch so ti-ght, his knuckles turned white. “Can you plea-se tell us everything, from how it all happened?” He was trying to control himself same goes for Damon and Alex.
