A ~Wish🌼~
Chapeter 1

“Where have you been?” His voice was scarily calm.
“I-i-i.” I just couldn’t find the right words to say or come up with. Liam is in my room. Right now I wish that the ground will open and I will gladly jump inside. His eyes travelled down to the white leather in my hands.
“Oh Brielle.” He chuckled darkly. “You know I hate it when you dissapoint me.” With each words he got up and took slow menacing steps towards me. I backed up against the wall in fear, feeling my heart pounding against my ribcage. I was cornered, no escape. The way Liam is approaching me felt life a predator slowly stalking its prey. My eyes darted to the door and I thought about ma-king a run for it which I did.
Big mistake.
In a swift motion Liam gr@bb£d me by my hair. I let out a scream of pain, trying to get his hand to let go off he death grip he has on my hair. “Do you think you can escape me!” He whispered harshly in my ear.
“plea-se don’t.” I begged, when I saw him holding up his belt.
“Too late Brielle, you have been a bad girl and now I have to punish you.” Liam pushed me to ground as he raised his belt. The first hit c@m£ so fast that I ba-rely had the chance to dodge.
“You stupid bit-ch!” Liam screamed. “You will never disobey me again.” He swung his belt again, hitting my back.
“plea-se s-st©p.” Tears were alre-ady streaming down my cheeks.
“You’re so ungrateful! I took care of you, fed you and you still have the guts to disobey me! I fv¢king told you not to eat today but you still had the guts to go behind my back and buy snacks!” Liam sl@pped me ha-rd as he said that.
“I’m s-sorry.” I cried.
“Damn right you are.” He snarled. “You are so stupid, useless, ugly, a fv¢king mistake!”
I could feel my eyes water again, not because of the belt but because of his words. Am I really a mistake? Did my parents not want me? I stayed on the floor, limp as Liam continued to hit me with his belt. By the time he decided that i’ve had enough, he fixed his belt while I still stayed on the cold ground, feeling stinging pains all over my b©dy.
Liam picked up the white leather and gr@bb£d a fistful of my hair. I hissed in pain, my scalp was stinging. He dragged me to the living room and threw the leather in the furnace. I held my head as soon as Liam let go of the ti-ght grip he had on my hair.
“I specifically instructed you to not eat food today and you went out and bought snacks, as your punishment for that you will be given extra chores and don’t even dare think of eating any food tomorrow.” I stared at Liam with wi-de eyes. What does he mean by extra chores. I sweep, wash the dishes, do the laundry, wash his car, take out the trash and cook. I possibly cant think of anymore chores I have to do.
“W-what do you mean by extra chores?”
Liam smiled smugly at me. “Like dusting the roofs and cleaning the basement.” I internally smiled, dusting the roofs and cleaning the basement is not a big deal. I’m even more happy about dusting the roofs, that way I can have an excuse to watch the stars. I frowned, realising that I won’t be allowed to eat tomorrow.
“Okay sir.” I muttered quietly.
Giving me one last sm-irk, Liam turned around and walked up to his room. I slowly got up but hissed when I felt a sharp pain in my left rib. I got the first aid kit and treated my wounds before heading upstairs to my room. I changed into my yellow pajamas and plopped down on the be-d, as I felt my eyes getting heavy. I closed my eyes, falling into a de-ep slumber.
The next morning, I woke up by six o clock. The belt marks from yesterday beatings are alre-ady fading away, but that doesn’t erase the pain. I sat up, getting out of be-d and made my way over to the bathroom, brushing my teeeth. I took my bath and changed into my grey sweatshi-t, black leggings and a pair of white converse. I tied my hair in a high ponytail before heading down to the living room.
When I was done with the house chores Liam walked in, looking all dressed up. He was putting on a purple bu-tton up shi-t with black jeans and a pair of black converse. His hair was slightly styled and jelled, hate to admit it but he looked good. Liam green eyes fli-ckered towards me as he glared. “Are you too old to greet me now?”
“N-no sir, forgive me.” I said quic-kly. He rolled his eyes and proceeded to gr-ab his car keys from the table.
“Am going somewhere and will be back in the evening, make sure to cook my favourite today and don’t you dare eat any food cause you won’t like the consequences.” With that Liam left, slamming the door behind him. I couldn’t help but grin as I stared at the door. I ran towards the couch in the living room and jumped on it, ma-king sure to sit down and make myself comfortable. I gr@bb£d the TV remote and scrolled throu-gh channels till I finally found a channel that was showing a netflix movie. When Liam was around I wouldn’t dare to switch on the tv, I love it when he goes out cause it means I’ll be watching enough movies. My favourite is ‘The witcher’
My stomach rumbled but I ignored it, keeping my face fixed on the television. I was tem-pted to go to the kitchen and gr-ab a bag of popcorn and a can of coke but I had to stay strong, I don’t think I can take another round of beating.
After the movie ended I got up and waddled around the house, feeling bored. I st©pped right in front of Liam’s be-droom. The only times i’ve been in Liam’s be-droom is when I usually clean it. I stepped right pas-s the room and decided to go to the basement instead. The basement was a little dusty which means I won’t have a ha-rd time cleaning it. I brou-ght out the box that contains my old toys and board games.
Sighing, I placed the box back on the shelf and walked towards my room. I sat down on the be-d, pla-ying with a strand of my hair. I really nee-d to get a hair cut, I wonder how it will feel to have a mother gently brushing your hair. I hate my life, I don’t have a real family, no friends, no best friend. Why cant I just live a life like normal sixteen year old teenagers? I cant continue like this, I have to get out of here, I cant keep living like this. I just want to be happy, have a real smile on my face. Is that too much to ask for? Being in a foster care is way better than living with Liam.
I glanced at my now locked up window, I don’t know how or when Liam decided to lock up my window. I got up and walked over to the window, trying to open it but it was pretty useless. Great! Now my only source of escaping is locked. At least I can still go to the roof and watch the stars.
My eyes drifted to the wall-clock. Holy marcaroni fudge ba-lls! Its 5:30 pm! I ran to the kitchen and brou-ght out the ingredients from the cu-pboards, used in ma-king grilled chicken and avocado salad. I hate ma-king this, how on earth can someone eat chicken and avocado together.
When I was done with preparing the food, I made a mouth watering custard overload cake for dessert. It took all in me not to take a bite out of it. Just when I was setting the food on the dining table, I heard Liam’s car pu-lling over in the garage. I scrambled from the dining room, going to the living room and quic-kly switched off the TV.
I stood behind the couch and lowered my head when I heard approaching footsteps from the porch. Liam opened the door, slamming it shut behind him before tossing his keys on the table.
“Welcome back sir.” I greeted.
“Where is my dinner?” Liam grumbled.
“In the dining sir.” Where else will it be the toilet? I snickered at the thought, forgetting Liam was in front of me.
He glared at me. “What are you laughting at?”
“N-nothing sir.”
“Good.” He strode pas-s me to the dining room. I carefully watched him as he took a bite out of the grilled chicken. Liam glanced at me and muttered something un-der his breath.
“Have you eaten?” Liam asked.
“No sir.” I replied.
“You can go and have something.” He grumbled.
“Huh?” I wanted to be sure I heard Liam right. Did he just say I can go and eat!
Liam glared. “Did I fv¢king stutter?”
“No sir.” I replied quic-kly. “Thank you!”
I practically ran to the kitchen and scooped some of the custard cake in a bowl, before taking a glas-s of orange jui-ce. I awkwardly pas-sed Liam and walked up to my room.
I sat on the be-d and started eating, turns out I was really hungry. After eating I waited in my room for a while before going downstairs, and thank God Liam was done with his food. I washed the plates and went to the the storage room. I carefully climbe-d the ladder that leads to the roof and I sat down, watching the beautiful stars. It was so beautiful, the dark blue sky with white stars shining bright. I brou-ght my knees close to my che-st, cursing myself for not bringing a blanket.
‘Look at the sky.’ A voice in my head told me. I gazed up at the sky to see the stars shining even more brighter than before. A small g@sp escaped myl-ips when I sighted something moving really fast in the sky.
Oh my God!
Its a shooting star!
I stared at it in awe, it was so beautiful.
‘Make a wish.’
Closing my eyes, I took a de-ep breath. “I- I wish… I wish I would finally be happy for once in my life.” I opened my eyes and watched as the star moved pas-s me.
I closed my eyes and smiled, feeling like things are going to be okay for me.
I will finally be happy.

Chapter 2
“Loser.”
“Why does she always put on a hoodie?”
“Maybe she’s ugly and uses it to cover her scars.” I ignored the students whispering about me in the hallway of lakewood high and continued my journey towards my locker. I did the combination, placing my backpack inside. Earlier this morning, when I woke I did all my house chores and dressed up for school, wearing a purple plain shi-t, black leggings and a pair of white saddle shoes. I threw my black hoodie on, ma-king sure to leave my hair down. The insults and whispers wasn’t a new thing to me, it mostly begins with harsh shoves from the populars and student tripping me.
A hand on my locker made me flin-ch, I looked up to see a pair of light green eyes glaring down at me, of course I will never forget the smug sm-irk he always has on when he sees me. The most popular and handsome boy in school, Zayn parker, the badboy of the school, a pla-yer who change girls like he changes his shi-t. 90° of the girls in school fall at his feet but not me, he’s way out of my league. He started bullying me in my freshman year. It mostly verbal insults, he hasn’t gone physical on me.
“Brielle, Brielle, how was the weekend, hope you did my homework?”
“Y-yes.” I stuttered, handing him the notebook. Zayn snatched it from my hand, going throu-gh the book.
“Well done Brielle, meet me at lunch.” He patted my head like as if he was petting a dog, before walking away, b!owing a k!ssat a group of girls who giggled se-ductively.
I sighed, closing my locker. its always like this, Zayn and his group of friends gave me their homeworks. I cant refuse cause it will lead to sl@ps, kicks and punches. I remember when Zayn friends cornered me on my way home and beat me up. They didn’t care about the fact that they’re beating up a girl. Another reason why most of the juniors hate me is because I get praised by teachers when it comes to school works.
“Good job Brielle, you know Zayn, I think you should learn from Brielle maybe you will be able to get good grades.” A teacher once commented and I will never forget the death glare Zayn s£nt my way.
I continued ma-king my way down the hallway only to bu-mp into someone, ma-king the person books fall down. I quic-kly bent down and picked up the book, afraid that it might be one of my bullies. I looked up to see a tall boy with blond hair, his glas-ses were a bit big but I could still see his beautiful grey eyes.
“Sorry.” I stuttered, when I felt his cold glare on me. Kind of funny how someone putting on glas-ses can be so intimid@t!ng.
‘And handsome.’ My subconscious told me.
“Give the girl a break Xav.” A boy with brown hair and light brown eyes said. “You’re scaring her.” That’s when I noticed the two boys standing behind him.
“Why does she look so frightened of us?” The other boy asked, he had brown hair and blue eyes.
“Here.” I stuttered, giving the boy with glas-ses his book back. He took it from my hand and stared at me. I fidgeted un-der his intense stare and practically turn around, running to the opposite side. I was confused, anytime I bu-mp into a student they either yell, insult or push me away but these guys looked like they didn’t know who I was at all. I glanced down at my watch as a frown made its way on my face. Its just 7:20!
Gosh why did I have to come to school so early. I’m scared of waiting in the clas-s cause of what I might see there, and one of my bullies. Last time I went to an empty clas-s I saw a horrifying scene in front of me. Zayn was ma-king out with girl on the teacher’s table, his hands were all over her.
Shuddering at the memory, I wandered around the hall, even though I still got whispers, insults and shoves. Mrs Russel, the English teacher was just coming out of the office when she sighted me. She smiled softly before walking over to me.
“Good morning Mrs Russel.” I greeted politely.
“Morning dear, you’re just the one I was looking for.”
I furrowed my brows in confusion, raising a brow. “Really? What for?”
“The principal wants to see you in his office.” Mrs Russel said.
“Okay, I’ll see him right now.” She nodded and walked away, leaving me in confusion as I made my way to the principal office. Have I done something wrong? Did Zayn lie against me to the principal? Why would the principal request to see me? Oh God am I getting expelled!
‘Shut up Brielle you’re overreacting.’
I took a de-ep breath, inhaling and exhaling before knocking on the door. I heard a gruff and de-ep ‘Come in’ from the principal. I gently opened the door and walked inside, gently closing it behind me.
Shocked was an un-derstatement. The three boys I bu-mped into earlier were standing right in front of me. I quic-kly averted my gaze when I locked eyes with the intimid@t!ngboy in glas-ses.
“Good Morning Principal Brooks.” I greeted, thank God it didn’t come out as an embarrasing squeak.
“Morning Brielle.” The principal replied. “We have new students and I will like you to give them a tour in the building.”
“Okay sir.” I said quietly. He smiled and I took it as my cue to leave, with the three guys trailing behind me.
“We meet again.” The guy with brown hair and light brown eyes said. He raised his hand and I flin-ched, moving backwards. My eyes were closed.
“plea-se don’t hurt me.” I whimpered. No one said a thing. I opened my eyes to see all of them looking confused. The guy with brown hair stared at me, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Why would you think…. I don’t hit girls.” He said.
“You don’t nee-d to be scared of us.” The other boy with brown hair and blue eyes said. I felt eyes on me and I glanced at the guy with glas-ses to see that he was staring at me.
“Xavier.” He suddenly said. Is it weird for me to say that he has a charming de-ep voice.
“Huh?” I asked, feeling confused.
“I’m Xavier.” He strectched his arm.
I gently shook his big yet warm hand, feeling sparks and tingles. “Brielle.”
“The names Damon M’lady.” The boy with brown eyes said. He dramatically bowed and took my hand in his, placing a k!sson it. I chuckled and faced the boy with blue eyes who smiled shyly at me.
“Alex.” He said, I nodded and gestured for them to follow me. I took them to the office, to get their schedules and locker numbers. Alex is a junior like me while Xavier and Damon are both s£niors. I showed them around, the clas-ses, gym, janitor closet, cafeteria. When it was 7:55 I waved at them and went to the clas-s am having first period. Thankfully no one was in the clas-s so I sat at the farthest seat in the back row. Eventually students and started filling up the clas-s and I got dirty looks from the ones that sp©tted me. I ignored them and focused on the Biology teacher who alre-ady started teaching.
When the clas-s was over I packed my books and left, only to be st©pped by Zayn and his group of friends.
“Don’t forget, cafeteria, 10:15.” He growled in my ear.
“O-okay.” I stuttered, nodding my head. His friend sm-irked at me, shoving me ha-rd when they pas-sed. Its always like this everday, when Zayn is bored or angry he takes it out on me by telling his friends to hold me down while one of his girlfriends hits me. But if they want to spare me, they give me their homeworks. Whenever Zayn says ‘cafeteria, 10:15’ it means I should be in the cafeteria on time. He gives me fifteen minutes to eat and then be his personal maid, to run errands in getting him food and water, only to later get food or drinks on my hair as a thank you.
I hate the teachers in this school, even though am praised by them. I cant help it! They’re so oblivious. Cant they see that some students are being bullied. I cant even report to the principal cause Zayn threatned me.
I got to the next clas-s and sat down, most students hate sitting with me, always giving me dirty and disgusted looks. Just when the teacher started teaching, the door was slammed open ma-king the teacher jump in fright.
“Oh, sorry.” The person apologized. Wait that voice is familiar. I looked up to see Alex standing close to the doorway.
“No problem dear, you’re new right.” The teacher asked and Alex nodded. “Introduce yourself plea-se.”
“Hi everyone, my name is Alexander Hill, its nice to meet you all.” His voice was polite.
“Very good Alexander, plea-se take a seat next to Brielle. Brielle can you plea-se raise your hand.” The teacher said. I awkwardly raised my hand up. When Alex saw that it was me his face seemed to relax. He walked over to where I was seated, plopping down beside me. I glanced around to see that I was being given death glares by most of the girls.
Gosh! Am not interested in him to begin with!
“Hi.” Alex greeted with a smile.
“Hey.” I replied drily, not wanting to start a converstion with him. It looks like he got the message cause he immediately turned around, facing the board. I don’t mean to be rude but I cant get too attached cause he’s just going to be like the rest of them, my bullies. Most new students that c@m£ to lakewood high and were my friends turned their backs on me. They later joined my bullies in tormenting me. That’s why I try to avoud new students at all cost.
“I’ll be giving you guys projects to work on, you’ll be paired with a p@rtner.” The teacher said out of the blue. I sat up, my eyes wi-de. No, no, no!
I hate being paired with someone I rather work on the project alone. Last time I was paired with one of Zayn friends and he made me his personal slave and later left me to work on the project, alone!
I fidgeted in my seat as the teacher kept on calling names. “And Lastly Alexander and Brielle.” She said, closing her book.
Wait, what?
Alex turned to face me. “Guess we’re p@rtners, so your place or mine?” He asked. I don’t think Liam will be happy to see a boy in the house.” I can alre-ady imagine his words.
“Since when did you become a slut?”
I shuddered at the thought and quic-kly said. “Your place.”
Alex smiled. “Okay.” I was hesitant at first but smiled back, turning to face the teacher who was alre-ady explaining what we should do in the project.
As other clas-ses later ended, I walked out, heading to the cafeteria. I quic-kly got my food and walked over to the empty table I usually sit on. Zayn and his friends waltzed in like they owned the place, and almost all the cafeteria stared at them in awe. Zayn sm-irked once he sp©tted me and mouthed ‘fifteen minutes’ I looked down, eating my food.
I noticed the cafeteria has suddenly gone quiet. Frowning, looked up to see Xavier, Damon and Alex casually ma-king their way to the counter. I could hear the whispers from where I was seated.
“Oh my gosh who are they!”
“Is it a crime to be this good looking?”
“They’re the new students!”
“The guy in glas-ses looks so h0t!”
When Xavier scanned the place with his eyes I silently prayed that he won’t notice me. Guess the lord didn’t want to answer me. Xavier made eye contact with me and whispered someting to Alex and Damon.
I watched in horror as they made their way over to my table and sat down.
“You might want to close your mouth.” Xavier stated. I shut my mouth, regaining my posture.
“What are you guys doing here?”
“Eating, duh.” Damon said bluntly.
“I mean you cant be seen with me.”
“Why?” Alex asked confused.
“Cause it will r-” I was cut short by a yell.
“Brielle! Fifteen minutes is up!” Zayn yelled, and all heads in the cafeteria turned to me. I slowly got up and walked over to where Zayn and his friends sat, ignoring the confused expressions on Xavier, Damon and Alex face.
“Throw this in the trash.” Zayn r0ûghly shoved a dirty dish at me. I walked and threw it in the trash can, before going back to Zayn.
“Eric wants to eat some oreo cookies, so move it!” He ordered me, like as if I was a dog. Tears brimmed my eyes when I could feel eyes on me. Why does my life has to be like this?
I was about to walk when a firm yet gentle grip on my shoulder st©pped me. I looked up to see Xavier hovering over me and giving Zayn a cold stare. Damon and Alex were right behind him.
“She’s not going anywhere.” Xavier stated, the tone of his voice was enough to s£nd shivers down my spine. Zayn got up, facing Xavier with a scowl on his face.
“What’s it to you?”
“If you want something go get it yourself, she’s not your slave.” Xavier tone was calm yet deadly. A flash of fear fli-ckered in Zayn’s eyes but he was quic-k to mask it up.
“Brielle come here. Now.” Zayn ordered. I tried to move but Xavier ti-ghtned his grip on my shoulder.
“Stay.” He whispered harshly in my ear, and turned to Zayn.
“Like I said she’s not your slave, if you want to order someone order one of your dumb followers.”
“Who the hell do you think you are to talk to me like that? Nerd.” Zayn snarled.
“Xavier Hill.” Xavier replied simply. “I can talk to you however I want, you’re not some god that I will bow down and respect. Oh and not all people that wear glas-ses are nerds.”
“Xav can we leave?” Alex asked nervously. I heard Xavier take a de-ep breath before nodding. I thought they would leave me and go, but Xavier pushed me so I was standing between him and Damon.
Without saying anything they left, Damon dragging me with them. I couldn’t help but gape at Xavier. No one has ever stood up to Zayn. I couldn’t even believe he defended me. I could feel Zayn deadly burning stare at our backs.
When we got out of the cafeteria, I yanked my hand from Damon’s grip and faced Xavier.
“What the fudge?!”
