CHAPTER 3
BEATRICE
…. THE NEXT DAY…..
The opening of the door in a loud way woke me up. I opened my eyes slowly and my vision was blurry. I shut my eyes and opened it again and it bec@m£ clearer.
“Good morning.” I heard R0m-n say and I sat up in haste.
“Good morning,” I said staring at his tummy.
” Your food.” He said and was about leaving when I held his hand.
“How are you? Does it still hurt?” I asked looking at his Facebook throu-gh the mask.
“A little.” He replied and I sighed.
“I am sorry,” I said and he nodded.
“Eat up. I was asked to stay here while you eat.” He said moving away from the be-d and standing still staring at him.
“Can I see the wound? I am so sorry. I just want to be free.” I said and he sighed.
” I un-derstand you, and I am fine. Eat up.” He said in a calm voice and I sighed looking at the food.
“It’s… It’s ha-rd , and my hands are so-re alre-ady. I know you can’t re-lease my hand, but can you at least feed me? I swear I won’t hurt you.” I said hoping he would listen to me.
He looked at my hand and saw it was red and swollen alre-ady. He breathed out loud and walked to the door.
And when I thought he wanted to leave, he shut the door and walked back to me.
He sat on the be-d and began to open up the plate he brou-ght. He picked up the spoon and scooped some rice into it.
He pas-sed it to my mouth and I opened it up taking it in. I began to chew and I couldn’t st©p staring at his mask.
“You seem different,” I said and he looked at me.
“I don’t un-derstand.” He said scooping another rice in the spoon.
“You are different from the others that kidnapped me. You are kind and fast to trust.” I said and he sighed moving the rice to my mouth.
I took it in and he went for the sause in the other plate.
“You don’t want to be here. You are here for something.” I said and he dropped the spoon.
” You know nothing about me.” He said looking away.
” Sorry. I just feel you shouldn’t be here, you will complicate yourself when you are seen with these people. You are even suffering here.” I said and he stood up abruptly.
” Shut up.” He said calmly moving away and I kept mute.
“I am Sorry. I didn’t mean to annoy you.” I said sadly and he looked at me and walking back to the be-d.
“Eat up fast. I have other things to do.” He said and I nodded.
He kept feeding me and I kept eating staring at him.
“Can’t I at least see your face?” I asked and he shook his head.
” It isn’t allowed.” He replied helping me with the bottled water.
“I don’t care what is allowed or what is not. I was kidnapped and I shouldn’t listen to what they say, and you shouldn’t too. They treat you anyhow just because you are nicer than theirfu-cking a*ses.” I stated and he sighed.
” You don’t know anything about how this goes, so don’t try to get into my head.” He said and we heard a ban-g on the door.
“Sh*t. They are here.” He said and I quic-kly picked up the spoon pretending to fee myself. He stood up and walked to the door to open up.
“Why did you shut the door?” The leader with a fierce voice asked.
“I didn’t want any chances of her running away.” He said and he pushed him aside walking to me.
“So you are still thinking of running?” He asked and I ignored him and kept eating.
“Wow, such guts.” He said laughing but I summoned courage and kept eating.
“Are you dear?” He growled and I looked up dropping the spoon in anger.
“What is wrong with you? When I talk it’s a problem! When I don’t, it’s another problem. What do you want me tofu-cking do! You can’t command me to do what I don’t want to! I ain’t yourfu-cking slave!” I muttered in anger.
” Have you forgotten your life lies right in my hands?” He said reaching for my chin and raising it.
“You know what? Why not kill me and get this all done? Cos if you don’t succeed in doing so, you would end up in jail.” I said picking the spoon as I continued eating.
“Pack the plates immediately she is done.” He said and walked out.
I breathed out the fear in me and looked up to see R0m-n staring at me.
“That was br@ve.” He said walking back to me.
” Thanks. It was a one-minded act.” I said and he laughed ma-king me smile.
“Let’s get you fed.” He said sitting on the be-d again.
” Won’t you lock the door?” I asked and he shook his head.
” No nee-d for that. Since he has come he won’t return.” He said.
” Thank you,” I said and he rose his head to look at me.
“Why?” He asked.
“For at least talking to me. If not I would have been paralyzed by boredom.” I said and he laughed.
“It’s no big deal.” He said pas-sing the food to my mouth again and I opened it up taking it in.
“You don’t want me to see your face?” I asked and he shook his head.
” No.” He said and I nodded.
“Just know that anytime you change your mind, I will be so happy and would never use your face against you if at all I escape,” I said.
” You shouldn’t think about escaping because it isn’t possible. You are in the middle of nowhere.” He said and my mouth dropped open.
” What! You mean like an island?” I asked and he nodded.
” Something like that.” He replied and I sighed.
So they won’t be able to get me easily.
“But why are you all doing this to me?” I asked in a shaky voice.
” They have their reasons.” He said and stood up as he began to pack the plates.
“Water plea-se,” I said as I felt like I was going to choke. He opened it in haste and gave it to me to drink. I signaled him to st©p after I felt a little relieved.
“Thanks,” I replied when he withdrew the bottle.
“My plea-sure. Am off now, try to have some rest. Lunch will be served when it’s time.” He said and began to walk to the door.
“Will you be the one to serve me?” I asked.
” Yes.” He said and I smiled.
“Okay. I will be here waiting.” I said and he nodded walking out finally.
I sighed and looked at my tied hands tiredly.
I couldn’t st©p wondering why a person like R0m-n would be p@rt of the heartless humans here.

CHAPTER 4
R0m-n walked out of the room where Beatrice was kept feeling so guilty. He ran into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror looking into it.
He re-moved his mask and dropped it on the pavement where the basins were. He bent his head and opened the tap taking some water in his hand and washing off his face with it.
“Hey!” He heard someone call behind him and it happened to be one of the men but this one is a little close to him.
“Hey Daniel,” R0m-n responded brushing back his black curly hair with his hand.
“What’s wrong? You don’t look happy.” Daniel said approaching R0m-n.
“How do you expect me to be happy when all we do is kidnap and torture people?” R0m-n asked looking into the mirror again.
“C’mon R0m-n, we aren’t torturing anyone,” Daniel said smiling.
“We are. Haven’t you seen that beautiful lady’s hand? Can’t you see how red and swollen it is?” R0m-n asked in anger.
“R0m-n,” Daniel called narrowing his gaze at R0m-n.
“What? Why are you looking at me like this?” He asked
“You called her beautiful.” He said with a smile on his face and R0m-n sighed.
“Seriously? I said something important, Daniel! And that’s the only thing you can remember?” R0m-n said and Daniel busted into laughter.
“Sorry! My bad!” He said and R0m-n breathed out picking up his face mask.
“R0m-n whatever happens to the victims shouldn’t affect you. You are here for the money, you should focus on that.” Daniel said and he shook his head.
“I am here for no money. I curse my father for pu-lling me into this mess! I can’t believe he worked with heartless people like this.” R0m-n said in regret and Daniel sighed.
“Thinking about that now would make you do something stupid. So plea-se forget about that and come serve the boss.” Daniel muttered.
“I would prefer they looked for someone else to serve, I can’t keep meeting with those victims seeing them this way,” R0m-n stated holding his mask in his hand and walking to the door of the bathroom.
“Wait. You are acting differently.” Daniel said and R0m-n looked at him.
“How?” R0m-n asked.
“You are so concerned about this victim than the others. Why?” He asked and R0m-n sighed.
“I am concerned about everyone that comes here. Not only her.” R0m-n lied walking out of the bathroom.
“You can’t fall in love with a victim you know?” Daniel told following behind him.
“And who is talking about love?” R0m-n asked.
“No one. But I can see it written clearly on your face.” Daniel mumbled and R0m-n looked at him.
“I am wearing a mask dummy,” R0m-n said and they both laughed.
He walked to the kitchen and he met Damon in there.
“Why are you yet to serve us?” He asked in his hoarse voice.
“I am the sorry boss. I will do just that.” R0m-n said rushing to the pot and Damon stood in his way.
“Look at me Kiddo! You can’t keep acting this way. Your father was smarter than you are.” He said gr-abbing him by the n£¢k and R0m-n grew angry.
“But you ended up taking his life. Is that how to repay a smart person?” R0m-n asked and Damon in fury punched him in the face.
“How dare you! Your father tried to pl@ysmarter than I. I had to show him who is superior. If you try the same thing, you would have the same fate.” Damon roared.
Damon’s phone began to ring and this made him re-lease his n£¢k.
“Serve me my food now,” Damon ordered drawing out his phone from his pockets and walking away.
He got to where he knew R0m-n couldn’t hear him and then picked up the call.
“How is she?” He asked from the other end.
“Fine. She is doing fine.” Damon responded.
“You are not to hurt her now. Once I get what I want, you can do whatever you want with her.” He told and Damon nodded.
“Got it, Sir,” Damon responded and hung up the call. He looked back at R0m-n and saw he was busy serving the food on his favorite plate.
He kept mute and walked past R0m-n to the door. Immediately he stepped out, R0m-n breathed out in anger throwing the spoon he was using across the kitchen.
“Don’t damage the spoon. You would have to work to get another one again.” Daniel said behind him and he looked back.
“I hate what I am doing! I want to quit.” R0m-n said feeling so full of guilt.
“You and I know quitting isn’t that easy. You are yet to repay half of what your father stole from Damon. You will be here for a long time dude.” Daniel explained and R0m-n kept mute.
“Okay.” He replied and Daniel furrowed his brows.
“I don’t trust that okay. Don’t tell me you want to plan something because I feel it’s stupid alre-ady.” Daniel said and R0m-n sm-irked.
“I said okay. Why are you overthinking it?” R0m-n and Daniel shook his head
“Nothing. You just have to be careful.” He said walking out of the kitchen and R0m-n glared into space.
