( CONFESSION )

«FELIX’S HOUSE ★ 10 PM»

“To the left. Be careful.” Rosa whispered.

“Stop here,” She opened a brown wooden door. “Come in.”

Jerry grunted as he dragged Felix inside the room and dropped him on the bed.

“fuc-k !” He cursed loudly, stretching his muscles.

“Sorry. Are you okay?”

“Yeah. But fuc-k , this bastard has weight.” He hissed.

Rosa chuckled. “Yeah… I’m sorry for disturbing you.”

“Hey, you’ve been apologizing since I offered to help you bring this drunk a-sshole home. To be honest, I’m glad I offered to help you. How would you have carried him on your own?”

She shrugged and started taking off Felix’s shoes and a thick jacket.

“You seem to know your way around his house,” He noted, folding his arms over his chest as he leaned against the wall beside the door.

“Well, I have been here a few times.” She stated, covering Felix with the thick duvet. He stirred up in his sleep but didn’t wake up.

“I see…” Jerry nodded, lowering his gaze.

Rosa stood up from the bed and walked towards Jerry.

“You must be thirsty. Come with me,” She opened the door and stepped out of the room.

Jerry stared at Felix for a few seconds before leaving the room as well, shutting the door quietly behind him.

•••

“Here,” Rosalie handed him a glas-sof water and poured another glas-sfor herself.

“Thank you.” Jerry chug-ged down the whole water and let out a de-ep breath. “Shit, I really needed this.”

“Mm-hmm.” She collected the empty glas-sfrom his grasp and placed it on the countertop. “I still feel so guilty for stressing you like this, Kerry.”

“Nah, you shouldn’t be. And can you please stop making my help feel weird?”

She smiled. “Sorry.”

“You apologize too much, do you know that?”

“Felix always says that to me. But what can I do? I am often apologetic whenever I make someone uneasy or bad.”

“You didn’t make me uneasy or bad. So stop apologizing for what you did not do.” He said to her.

She simply nodded.

“Are you going to stay back here?” He asked.

“Uhm, I guess not.” She replied.

“Then let’s leave together.” He suggested.

“Oh. Okay. What here, I need to check up on Felix first before leaving. Hope you don’t mind?”

“Of course not. I will be waiting here.”

“Okay. Thank you.” She hurried upstairs.

A few minutes later, she came downstairs to meet Jerry still waiting for her.

“I’m ready. Let’s go.”

•••

«ALONG THE STREET»

Jeremiah and Rosalie walked side by side along the walkway in silence.

Rosa heaved out a soft breath, staring at the ground while Jerry’s gaze was fixed on her.

Some group of boys and girls were talking and laughing at the top of their voices, heading towards their way.

Jerry quickly wrapped his arms around Rosa and pulled her towards him, providing enough space for the boys and girls to walk throu-ghwithout any trouble.

“Thank you,” She mumbled, pushing a strand of hair from her face to the back of her ear.

“You’re welcome.” He smiled.

The group of boys and girls turned to a corner, disappearing into the darkness.

Jerry released Rosalie afterward and tucked his hands inside his pan-ts pocket.

Another silence fell between them again.

They arrived at a convenience sto-re and Rosa stopped walking.

“What is it?” Jerry asked, raising a questioning brow at her.

“I need a cup of coffee. What about you?”

“I think that’s a great idea.”

They both entered the sto-re and bought two cups of takeout coffee and left the sto-re.

They continued their journey once again, stealing glances at each other every second as they drank from the cup of coffee.

“You seem to have a lot going on in your mind.” Jerry detected, breaking the silence between them.

“How do you mean?”

“You have your brows pinched together, your li-ps pursed and your forehead wrinkled. You look troubled. And if I can remember correctly, you usually drink coffee whenever you are stressed out with your thoughts.”

Rosa was behind surprised by his observations. Was she just obvious to be read like a transparent book? or does he know her too well to know all of these? She wondered.

“How did you know all this?” She voiced out her thought, holding his gaze.

“Lexi told me.” He said.

“Oh. I thought as much.” She giggled, taking another sip of her coffee.

“So tell me. Why are you troubled?”

“Well,” She hesitated. “let’s just say I have a lot of things on my mind and it is really complicated.”

“Care to share?”

“Uhm…”

“You know what they say, a problem shared is a problem half solved. You can trust me, Rosalie.” He said in a calm and soothing tone.

“I do not want to_”

“Do you want to share your problems with me, Rosa? Yes or no?”

They stopped walking, both staring into each other’s eyes.

She leaned her face closer to his, searching his face.

“Rosa, what are you_” Before he gets to complete his statement, she slammed her li-ps on his.

Jerry didn’t react at first but gradually he eased into the kis-s and started kis-sing her back, wrapping his free arm around her slender wa-istand de-epening the kis-s.

They kis-sed as if their lives depended on it.

Rosa threw her cup of coffee aside and encircled her arms around his neck, mo-aning into the kis-s when he thru-st his tongue into her mouth and wrapped it around hers.

By the time they pulled away, they were completely breathless and their faces were flushed from the kis-s.

“Rosa,” He called out softly, searching her eyes.

She detached herself from him, taking a step back.

“I should go.” She quickly hailed a cab and it rolled to a stop in front of her. “Goodnight.” She said to Jerry without looking at him as she entered the cab.

“Where to, ma’am?” The driver asked.

She gave him her address and he drove off, leaving Jeremiah behind in confusion and shock.

Her heart was beating very fast and loud and she doesn’t know exactly why.

«Ca-ssANO’S MANSION ★ MAIDS’ QUARTER»

Evelyn entered the room and found Paige on the bed.

“Paige, are you sleeping?”

The young maid turned around to face the older woman and shook her head.

“No. Do you need me to do something for you?”

“No, dear. Marcello is actually asking for you.”

Paige immediately sat upright on the bed, “Marcello?”

“Yes. What is it? You seem to know why he wants to see you.”

“I will be right back.” Paige quickly got out of bed and left the room.

“I think he already told her what he feels for her. It’s about time he did anyways.” Evelyn chuckled and went to bed.

••••

«KITCHEN»

Paige walked throu-ghthe door.

Marcello’s arms were folded over his chest as he played against the counter, gazing at the tiled floor.

“Hey,” She grabbed his attention.

He looked up at her and smiled. “Here you are. Hi.”

“You are back.” That was dumb but she had nothing else to say other than that.

“Yeah. You don’t have to be nervous, Paige.” He said to her.

“Well, you can’t blame me.”

“Oh. I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable. I should never have_”

“No,” She cut him off quickly. “that wasn’t what I meant. I’m just nervous and it is definitely not because of your feelings for me.”

“I’m glad to hear that.” He paused. “So have you thought about it? Do you have an answer for me now?”

“Here is something you should know, Marcello.” She began. “The person I’ve always had a crush on is Boaz.”

His face dropped. “Bo… Boaz?”

“Yes. You don’t know how long I’ve waited for him to notice me but no matter how ha-rd I try, he just doesn’t.”

“Hmm.”

“However,” She started fiddling with her fingers. “I’ve come to realize that I am no different from Boaz. You’ve had a crush on me and I didn’t notice. I was just stupid, selfish, and played with your emotions? Miss Chase would give me an earful if she hears of how I treated you.” She chuckled lightly. “I’m sorry.”

“Look at me,” He urged.

She slowly did as he said, biting her lower li-p.

“Don’t feel bad about anything, Paige. I never told you about how I felt for you so there was no way for you to know.”

“But…”

“If it is Boaz you want,” He held her hands. “Fine. I will support whatever decision you make. Not because I don’t give a fuc-k but because I want to see you happy. I love you so much that I am willing to let go of you as long as you are happy.”

A tear sli-pped out of her eyes and she embraced him, placing her head on his firm chest.

“I heard you are going on a trip with the boss,”

“Yeah.” He nodded as he secured his arms around her body.

“Come back safely and I will give you my answer properly. Okay?”

“Do I still have a chance?” He questioned.

She shrugged. “We’ll see about that.”

«NEXT MORNING ★ HOTEL ROOM»

Rhodes packed up his guns and some necessary things needed as well.

Elodie rushed out of the bathroom, dressed up in black jeans and a blue cotton top.

“I’m coming with you,” She announced, putting her hair into a ponytail.

“No, Elodie. You are not coming with me. It is dangerous.”

“Does it look like I care? My daughter is out there and only God knows what they are doing to her and you want me to sit back and do nothing? Never.”

“Elodie_”

“I am coming with you, Rhodes. And that is final.” She said sternly.

«Ca-ssANO’S MANSION»

“Boss, I’m sorry if this may sound disrespectful but I am not letting you go by yourself,” Marcello said stubbornly.

“I can handle things myself, Marcello. You don’t need to worry about anything.” Mikhail said calmly.

“We don’t know the ambush this people has made. We need to be careful.”

“I know.” Mikhail thought for a while. “You know what? you can come with me. I will explain the plan on our way to pick up Octavius, is that clear?”

“Sì, boss.” Marcello bowed his head and they both entered a black van and drove out of the large compound.

••••

Marcello stopped the van in front of a five-star hotel and Rhodes and Elodie clambered into the car.

Mikhail raised a questioning brow, shooting daggers at the man throu-ghhis eyes.

“What is going on here? Why is she here?” He asked.

“She said she wants to come along.”

“And you agreed? This wasn’t a part of the fuc-k ing plan. We are going for something dangerous and you had to bring your wife along?”

“It is my daughter we are talking about here,” Elodie cut in. “You don’t expect me not to do anything about this, do you?”

“Your life could be in danger.” Mikhail snarled.

“I don’t care. I need to save my daughter and that’s what matters right now.”

“Boss?” Marcello called out, wondering whether to drive off or not.

Mikhail hesitated before giving up.

“Drive the damn car, Marcello. Whatever happens to her is none of our business.”

«WAREHOUSE»

“There,” Joel rou-ghly dropped the tray of food for the prisoners and left the room, locking the gate.

Aria gro-aned as she sat upright on the bed. Her body aches so badly.

“Are you okay?” Diamond asked her, worried.

“Yeah. I guess so.”

“You can eat the food.” The nanny offered.

“And what about you?”

“I’m not hungry.”

“You haven’t eaten anything since they kidnapped you. You can’t keep starving yourself like this, Diamond.”

“I’m fine, Aria. I’m not just hungry, that’s all.” She stated.

“I’m not going to eat too then.”

“You can’t…”

The door opened, interrupting their conversation and Lottie walked in.

“Oh, there are the prisoners.” She grinned, bringing out a chair to seat in front of the girls. “How are you coping in the new environment, Aria?”

“Why are you doing all this?” Aria asked under her breath. “What will you gain from hurting innocent people?”

“Innocent people?” Lottie repeated and suddenly burst out into fits of laughter. “Who are the innocent people, ex-best friend? You? Her?” She stopped laughing and goes into a serious mode. “There is nothing like innocent people because nobody is innocent in a world as cruel as this!”

“People like you are what made the world cruel.” Diamond spat out, gro-aning a little bit. “You pollute the world and yet claim it is fate. Are you stupid?”

“Circu-mstances make people choose certain things in life. The word fate is bullshit. We live our lives regardless of what our fate holds for us. I don’t believe in shit like that, I don’t know about you two.”

“Answer my question, Lottie. What are you going to get out of all this?” Aria questioned. “Mikhail? Is he your damn prize?”

“I love Mikhail but this bit-ch ,” She pointed at Diamond. “took him away from me!”

“How many times do I have to tell you that Mikhail is not your fuc-k ing property? If he doesn’t want you then give up already and stop embarra-ssing yourself like this.” Diamond snapped angrily.

Lottie remembered the confession of Mikhail during the phone call.

( “Do you love her?” )

( “Yes.” )

Her blood started boiling in fury and she clenched her fist.

“I don’t fuc-k ing care! I want Mikhail and that is what matters.”

“And now that he doesn’t want you, what are you going to do about it? Kill yourself?” Diamond taunted.

“I’m going to kill you!” She yelled.

“Lottie!” Aria called out. “What is your problem? This guy in question is your late sister’s husband.”

“And does it look like I care? After all, I killed her just so I could have him.” She confessed.

Aria’s eyes wide-ned and her mouth dropped open.

“Why are you so wicked?” Diamond muttered, tears streaming down her face. “First, you made a deal with that bastard to kidnap your sister and then years later, you killed her because of a man. Don’t you have any shame at all?”

“Shame? Do you know the one thing I feel so ashamed of?” She paused. “Having failed to kill you that night. Yes, I am wicked, heartless, and mean. I killed my sister. My own flesh and blood and I do not feel any guilt or remorse for what I have done.”

“You traveled out of the country. You went to Braz_” Aria’s voice trailed off when she remembered the words of Lottie.

( “I was never in Brazil.” )

“Wait a minute, tell me it is not what I think it is… Those years you claimed to be in Brazil, you weren’t there but you were in Italy, right?”

“Ah,” Lottie smiled. “You just acted smart right now. Well, yes. I was in Italy. Figuring out a way to get rid of Diamond and have Mikhail to myself. And I successfully got what I wanted with the help of my accomplice, Julius Santiago.” Her gaze fell upon Diamond and the smile on her face grew wider when she saw the shocked expression on the nanny’s face. “Does that ring a bell, dear nanny?”

“How… You knew?”

“Of course. You got my flowers that day and I got something else in return. Your carelessness brou-ght me closer to you. I learned a lot of things, you know. I got to know that my best friend betrayed me and wanted to get out of the country. I got to know that my man has been visiting his daughter’s nanny every midnight and most importantly, I got to know about the identity of your biological father. Isn’t it amazing?”

“That flowers were from you? You spied on me!” Diamond grunted angrily. “How dare you?”

“Hey, calm the fuc-k down. You shouldn’t be bothered about what I learned. But rather about the identity of your father. The same man who kidnapped you years ago – he tortured and traumatized you. He is a sadistic bastard. He killed Diamond, Mikhail’s wife. And he is also going to kill you by the end of today. Your father is a psycho and what makes you any different, Diamond? Remember how the saying goes, an apple does not fall far from its tree.” She smirked.

Diamond heard everything Lottie had said but the one that caught her attention was the fact that her ‘supposed’ father killed Mikhail’s wife.

How would Mikhail feel about her if he gets to hear the truth?

And how is it possible that the same man who made life miserable for her is her biological father?

Why is life so cruel and mean to her?

“Diamond, don’t listen to her,” Aria stated.

“Why not? After all, I am only telling the truth. She should even be grateful that I helped her crack the puzzle she couldn’t.” Lottie laughed evilly, crossing her leg over the other. “Now tell me, do you think Mikhail is still going to choose you if he finds out that your biological father killed his dear wife? I’m sure you already have an answer to that question, don’t you?”

Suddenly, the door opened, and when the girls turned around to see who it was. They found Julius standing by the door with a de-ep frown on his face.
