I opened the ring box and my jaw dropped…
It was a ring 💍
An expensive sparkling ring….
Tears welled down my chubby cheeks..
“Glenda! He wanted to propose” I said in tears as Glenda rushed to me and took the ring.
“OMG! Iris I think he… He overheard us” Glenda said and I bur-st into tears.
“Oh no! He misun-derstood everything… Glenda I really nee-d to clear this! I love Chris… I wasn’t even talking about him” I cried
“Yes Iris! You have to make him un-derstand” Glenda said as I quic-kly rushed out of the house.
“Iris you are not wearing your shoes” Glenda screamed
“Don’t worry Glenda! The fl!pflops is very OK” I said alre-ady outside.
I nee-d to make him un-derstand…
He should know the truth about me.
He should know how I turned out being a slut.
Thoughts kept running throu-gh my mind.
I flagged down a cab and hopped in.

SOME MINUTES LATER
I got to his mansion.
I was allowed in and I entered the sitting room.
I saw the most shocking thing of my life.
I saw Chris with a rope.
He hung it on the ceiling fan and was about to hang himself.
Tears rushed down my face.
“CHRIS…” I yelled

“Iris you broke my heart… Iris I love you but it’s obvious you don’t believe in love! Of what use is my life? I just wanna end it” Chris screamed as he sat heavily on the couch.
He poured out some rum from the bottle to the glas-s.
I gulped it down.
Tears couldn’t let me talk…
It kept running down my face.
“Iris I un-derstand you! I mean what use will a pla-yboy like me be to you?” He drank again
“That’s enough! I love you Chris” I said as he scoffed
“That’s not what I heard earlier” He said
“But I really do Christ©pher! You have to believe me” I cried
“I can’t Iris… I just can’t!” He cried bitterly
“You can’t blame me Chris… I’ve been throu-gh a lot in the hands of men” I wailed
“Oh plea-se Iris…” He belched loudly
“Fine! You wanna know right? I was R@p£d again, again and again by a man I regarded as my father.. I was abused by him! And that wasn’t enough, I got pregnant for him” I said in h0t tears.
I sniffed and continued talking.
“I got pregnant for him but he denied me, I was brutally beaten up by my aunt whose her husband just because our parents were dead. They took away my dad’s properties, his house, his company, his everything…. I was only beaten up, I was also kicked out of the house and I lost the baby! That was how I met Glenda whose going throu-gh same circu-mtances as me, and we ended in harlotry” I said as I fell on my knees.
Memories flashed back into my head and the wound bec@m£ fresh again.
Chris’s Pov:
Her story struck my heart…
I felt really sorry for her 💔💔
I quic-kly walked to her and helped her up.

“Am sorry Iris! I just want you to know that am here for you” I said as we hvgged each other ti-ghtly.
She’s really been throu-gh a lot…
I opened the ring box and knelt in front of her.
“Iris will you marry me?” I asked as she smiled excitedly.
“Yes! Yes Chris…” She said half yelling.
I sli-pped the ring throu-gh her f!ngersand k!$$£d her hand.
“I love you Iris” I said as I k!$$£d herl-ips
“I love you Chris” She replied as ourl-ips met hungrily 💋
We dis£ngaged the k!ssas we hvgged each other.
“It’s not yet time baby” Chris whispered to me and I giggled.
I quic-kly bit his l!pas he chased after me pla-yfully.
Iris’s Pov:
I kept admiring my f!nger.
It looks really beautiful ❤
I never knew or even dreamt that such thing will happen to me.
Am so glad to have Chris in my life.
“Wow sister!” Tina said from behind as I hid my f!nger.
“What?” I said pretending
“The ring looks good and sister am happy for you” She chuckled as I showed her my f!nger.
“I can’t wait to be an aunt” Tina smiled.
“Oh Tina! You’re ma-king me shy” I laughed.
We hvgged each other ti-ghtly.
“You’re the best sister ever!” Tina said as I smiled.
“You too Tina!” I replied
Cas-sandra’s Pov:
I quic-kly picked up the newspaper and stared at it once more.
I fling the newspaper away angrily.
“Engagement p@rty? No way! This is not happening” I yelled
This will never happen not while am alive.
There is no one who is gonna take him away.
“THERE WILL BE NO ENGAGEMENT p@rtY” I said…

Iris’s Pov:
I picked up the golden chain n£¢klace and stared at it with plea-sure.
“My goodness! This is so beautiful Iris” Glenda said excitedly as I smiled.
“Yes Glenda.. I bet this is really very expensive” I said looking at myself in a mirror.
I looked absolutely gorgeous.
“You know girl? Am super happy for you” Glenda smiled
“I know right? I never dreamt of this! I never knew someone could still love me despite the kind of life I lived” I said
“Chris loves you so much and he’s the right one for you” Glenda said
“Yeah! But am really nervous.. I mean am going to meet his parents tomorrow night at the engagement p@rty” I said
“That’s not a problem Iris! As long as Chris stands right beside you” Glenda said and I nodded.
Just then, Tina rushed in with a shopping bag.
“Sister Iris! Just take a look at the pretty dress uncle Chris bought for me” Tina said happily.
I love seeing her smile and Chris made her happy.
“Wow! You look extremely beautiful without pretty dresses, how much more when you put on pretty dresses” Glenda said
“I can’t wait for your engagement p@rty sister” Tina said as she hvgged me
“Love you Tina!” I smiled
“I love you too sister!” Tina rejoiced
Chris’s Pov:
“Goodness me! I never knew you were serious bro” Jerry laughed
“Well now you know! Mom and dad are coming back from the states by tomorrow morning for the engagement p@rty” I said
“What? Chris are you sure about this? I mean are you sure you wanna get married to that hoer?” Jerry asked as I flared up angrily.
“Keep quiet Jerry! Let me warn you.. Don’t you ever try to call Iris a hoer” I said angrily
“Okay! Fine… Am sorry about that but bro you nee-d to think about this properly! I mean what if your parents find out…” Jerry said as I scoffed.
“Find out what? That she was a prostitute? A slut?” I laughed
“Isn’t that enough reason for them to dislike her?” Jerry furrowed his brows.
“I don’t care Jerry! I love Iris… That’s what matters” I said
“I never knew pla-yboys do fall in love” Jerry tea-sed

I picked up the flash drive and smiled.

I walked out of Chris’s car looking really tensed.
The p@rty hall was alre-ady filled by wealthy and popular guests.
Chris’s parents and sister Erica were also there.

“How about ur parents? What if they don’t like me?” I asked as we walked into the p@rty hall.
