DEAR
JOCELYN
Episode 43
By: Faith Lucky.

Jocelyn’s Pov:
I walked on the red carpet, arrayed in a long silver colored go-wn. Flowers were sprayed on the carpet for me to walk on and as I did, the guest [email protected] excitedly.
The atmosphere was dark, but the gleaming lights everywhere gave the [email protected] a befitting color.
A slow cool song was being pla-yed and it fitted the moment.
Before I got to the stand, mum walked up to me with a bowl of colorful flowers and sprinkled some of it on me.
“Welcome home, Jocelyn” she said with a smile and [email protected] me.
Then she held my hand and took me to the stand and gave me a pe-ck before leaving.
Dad [email protected]£ up afterwards with a little wra-pped pres£nce and gave it to me.
“Welcome home, Jocelyn. I pray nothing takes you away from us again” he said and planted a k!sson my forehead.
“Thanks dad” I replied happily and he left.
Then, Megan [email protected]£ up next with a bunch of flowers. She looked sad, though, but tried to dissemble it with a smile.
“Happy return Jocelyn. I’m glad you’re back” she said vacuously and I collected the flowers from her.
“I miss you, Megan. And I’m sorry we haven’t had enough time for each other since I returned. Maybe we can work it out, can’t we?” I said and she chuckled.
Then, we [email protected] each other and she left.
Rodney [email protected]£ up after her and I was alre-ady smiling before he got to where I was.
“Hi” I said in a whisper as he stood in front of me.
“What are you smiling at?” He asked and I rolled my eyes.
He handed me the sparkling flowers he held and inside the flower was a small jewelry box.
I took out the box and gave the flower to the people beside me who were in charge of keeping my flowers and gifts.
I opened the box with curiosity and found a glittering n£¢klace in it and a little disappointment t©uçhed myl-ips. But I quic-kly covered it up with a smile.
The middle [email protected] of the n£¢klace was designed with letters R&J and Rodney helped me to wear it on.
“Thanks” I told him while tou-ching the n£¢klace.
It was so beautiful.
“Always put it on, Jocelyn. It repres£nts what we share” he stated and I nodded and we k!$$£d for some time.
Then, he left.
Leo was the next person and I could clearly see the diffident look on him as he stood in front of me.
“Welcome home, Jocelyn” he said simply and gave the little prezzie to me.
I smiled and collected it.
“Um…Leo” I said.
“We haven’t been able to talk since the incidence occurred. Um…about the k!ss…”
“Sshh” he cut me off, placing his index f!nger on myl-ips.
“Don’t talk about it, Jocelyn. What if Rodney overhears you and plucks out my eyes?” He asked and I laughed and he [email protected] me.
“Don’t worry; it’s okay” he added in a whisper and left.
Then, Rachel [email protected]£ up next, holding a bunch of flowers.
“Hi” she said elatedly as she stood in front of me.
“Hi Rachel” I also replied with a broad smile.
“You’re beautiful” she said and I chuckled.
“Um…sisters for life, right?” She asked.
“Of course” I replied and she nodded and gave the flowers to me.
We [email protected] each other and after which, she left.
Davis also [email protected]£ up with a bunch of flowers and handed it to me.
“You’re looking stunning, Jocelyn” he said.
“Now I can un-derstand why Rodney has always been so crazy over you”.
I laughed as I collected the bunch of flowers from him.
“Thank you Dr Davis” I said.
“plea-se, drop the formalities. You can just call me Davis”.
I nodded and we hvgged each other before he left.
Many other families, friends and business as-sociates also [email protected]£ to welcome me and it was a very long night.
Even Mrs Salome was there.
Leo’s Pov:
I was sitting on a bench by the pool with a glas-s of wine beside me.
The [email protected] was still on, but I just wanted to be alone.
I kept staring into the waters, lost in thoughts, until I felt someone sit beside me.
I turned and it was Rachel.
I looked at her with surprise and wondered why she was there.
“You loved her, right?” She asked in a genial tone that I didn’t expect.
“Who?” I possum.
“My sister – Jocelyn” she replied.
I sighed and took my gaze back to the water.
“She’s in love with Rodney” I replied embittered, not looking at her.
“That doesn’t answer the question” she said and I scoffed.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“What do you mean what do I want? I’m just trying to be concerned”.
“Concerned? Well, the last I can remember, you threw a stone at me.”
“Not you; your windscreen”
“What difference does it make?”
She finally [email protected]£ fed up and stood up.
“You know what? Maybe I’m just wasting my time here. Maybe you don’t deserve my attention after all. So, suite yourself” she said rashly and tried to leave, but suddenly st©pped and turned back to me.
“Fine!” She muttered and sat beside me again.
“I was at fault and you were also at fault. Why don’t we apologise to each other? Let’s settle our differences” she said and I scoffed.
‘Seriously?” I asked with a little grin.
‘Will your pride allow you to do something like that?”
“Look, I’m trying to be nice here. I mean, since my sister and your brother are together, I deem it necessary for us to be in good terms. So, st©p being so annoying.”
“Oh! So, I’m the one being annoying? Well,,if you really want us to make peace, you’re gonna have to apologise first.”
“Whaaat? B…But, that’s not possible. ..”
“And why isn’t it possible? You’re ma-king peace, right? So you’ll have to apologise first and then, I’d accept and also apologise”.
“You know what? Just forget about this” she said and stood up again but st©pped halfway and returned.
She heaved a hvge sigh and returned to the bench.
She was just too proud.
“Fine! I’m sorry” she finally said after a short contemplation and I smiled.
I took up my glas-s of wine and sipped from it.
“Hmm. Apology accepted” I replied and stood up and she flin-ched.
“What about yours?” She asked suspiciously and I sm-irked.
“Well…talking about my apology, I’ll think about it” I replied and she sprang on her feet.
“B…But that wasn’t out agreement” she grouse.
“What agreement?” I asked and turned to leave.
“How dare you? Get back here and apologise. Leo! You’re nothing but a double crossing j£rk!” She said angrily behind me but I didn’t st©p to look at her.

JOCELYN
Episode 44

Jocelyn’s Pov:
I walked down the stairs, laughing on the phone.
I walked into the dining and was carried away by the call and had forgotten to greet mum and dad.
I’ve been on the call for almost an hour.
You’re crazy Rodney” I said with laughter as I took a slice of bre-ad.
What? No, I didn’t mean it.
That’s not possible.
You can tell him if you want to
“Table manners, Jocelyn” mum whispered.
Oh! I have to go, Rodney. I nee-d to gr-ab some table manners.
I told you, it’s not going to be possible. Daddy’s taking me out today.
it’s important. He’s introducing me to some business [email protected]
I said no!
And why do you want to know?
just give up, Rodney. It’s not going to be possible and that’s it.
Whatever. Bye
And the call ended.
Megan heaved a sigh and I wondered why.
“I wonder if Rodney thinks of anything else” mum said un-der her breath with a little laughter and I smiled.
“Dad, will Megan be going out with us?” I asked.
“I’m having clas-ses today” she replied immediately, fixing her eyes on her food.
“By the way, Megan, were you able to finish up the movie last night? I was so dizzy” I said as I took in some egg sauce.
“Well, Angelo died in the end…’
“Whaaat?”
“He…”
My phone began ringing and interrupted her.
“Excuse me” I said to no one in [email protected] and picked the call.
Rodney, I’m eating I said on the phone and he chuckled.
Um…just wanted to hear from you. Okay bye
he replied and ended the call.
I smiled the I returned the phone on the table.
“Okay Megan. So what happened?” I asked enthusiastically but her face had alre-ady become so-re.
“Um..can we talk about it later? I nee-d to finish up my meal” she replied vacously, ma-king me a little surprised.
“O…kay”.
“By the way, Megan; what’s wrong with you?” Dad asked.
“one of the maids told me you were throwing up this morning. How’re you feeling?”
“Don’t worry about it dad. I’m just a little un-der the weather. But I’ll be fine” she replied with a light smile.
“Have you taken any medications?” Mum asked.
“Yes. I started yesterday”.
“So, how’re you feeling now?”
“I…I just feel a little feverish. But I’ll be fine”.

I was with dad the whole morning throu-gh the afternoon. We were at the company where dad had a very important board meeting and there he had introduced me to them.
Then, he filled me in with the activities of the company and some important clients in the system. He deemed all these introduction necessary since i was the heir to the company.
We were still having a meeting when my phone rang and I excused myself to pick the call.
It was Rodney.
“Hello?”I said lowly on the phone as I stood at the extreme of the office.
Does he ever get tired?
He didn’t say anything and I called his name.
“Jo…Jo…Jocelyn; I…I ne…ed help” he shivered on the phone and I panicked.
“Rodney? Rodney where are you? What’s wrong with you?” I asked in bewilderment.
“I’m…I’m at home – my personal house. I…I can’t feel my legs. My…b©dy’s so cold. I…I feel like giving up”.
I had gotten more than I could take.
“Hold on, Rodney. I’ll be there in a few minutes”.
“Hu…Hurry Jocelyn”.
And I ended the call.
My heart was racing fast. What if something bad happens to him? I nee-ded to be there right away.
I walked back to the table where dad was seated with the other members of the board and with the look on my face, he could tell there was a problem.
“Um…dad” I called and paused, thinking of what to say.
“I…I nee-d to check up on something very important, but I’ll be back…as soon as possible” I added nervously, hoping I was convincing enough.
“What is it, Jocelyn?” He asked inquisitively and I didn’t know what to say.
I couldn’t tell him I was going to see Rodney and also couldn’t think of any satisfactory reason that’d warrant me to leave such an important moment.
“Alright; alright. Just go” he said and that was a big relive to me.
I smiled happily.
“Thank you dad. Thanks” I said as I took my bag and scuttled away from the office.

I ordered my driver to leave after dropping me off at Rodney’s residence and without wasting any time, I hurried in to see him.
I was still worried.
I ran past the sitting room into the be-droom and there I found him lying on the be-d; covered with a blanket.
“Rodney” I called unfeigned as I ran to the be-d and sat on the edge, facing him.
“Jocelyn” he called in a weak voice and held my hand.
“What is wrong with you?” I asked as I t©uçhed some [email protected] of his b©dy.
His temperature seemed normal.
“How’re you feeling Rodney?”
“I uhm…I…feel very cold and dizzy and exhausted. My b©dy aches a lot and…my eyes are very h0t as well. I…I feel very h0t inside and feel like di-ving into the pool” he replied with little cracks in his voice and I flin-ched.
“I thought you said you were feeling cold? How come you’re thinking of di-ving into the pool?” I asked.
“Yes, yes! I feel very cold outside but I feel h0t inside. I nee-d your help, Jocelyn. plea-se, hold me” he said and placed my hand on his shoulders.
I stared at him for a while and withdrew my hands.
“Rodney, do you realise I was in an important meeting with my dad?” I! asked and he closed one of his eyes, leaving the other open.
“Huh?” He asked pretentiously and I hit him with a pillow.
“How dare you lie to me, huh? How dare you?” I asked and continued hitting him with the pillow.
“Jocelyn, you’re ma-king my condition worst. Jocelyn. Doctor….Help. ..nurse”
Then, he also picked up a pillow and threw it at me and I hit him on the head.
“Ouch” he grouch and la-id back on the be-d and I went ahead to hit him again.
“You’re so annoying Rodney. I really thought something was wrong with you” I said
“Well, you didn’t let me explain. I mean, I was really feeling cold a while ago. But when you [email protected]£, the cold vanished and I started feeling h0t”.
I glared at him and turned to back him.
“Well, fine! You’re here now and that’s the important [email protected]” he said and wra-pped his hand around my shoulder.
“You should have just told me you were looking for a way to bring me here. I should have known it was one of your little tricks since you’ve been persuading me to come over since morning” I replied and he chuckled.
“Well, miss, I think I’m a bit hungry. Why don’t you prepare something for us to eat?” He asked as he la-id back on the be-d.
“Me? Have you forgotten you told me I wasn’t a good cook?” I asked.
“Who? Me? Am I crazy? Who cooks better than you?”
