Time flew by and it was finally a day in between before the event, Phil!phad kept his word of deleting Tisa’s number and the hectic preparations made it much easier for the forgetting.
It was the day of the final rehearsal and Kas-sy just arrived earlier that morning. She had st©pped picking Patience’s calls as she had no more lies to exculpate herself for not ma-king it back on time as she promised. All the items and smallest of details were in place and thank God for Petrina who filled in the gap for Kas-sy and took care of all the chief bridesmaids duties.
Petrina was the earliest to arrive at the venue and she waited for the rest while she ordered some jui-ce.
Kas-sy drove in looking very fly as usual, Petrina took in a de-ep breath preparing herself for the amount of boasting she was going to hear. Kas-sy was a show off but luckily she never hesitated to help where she was nee-ded to.
“Hi girlfriend! .. Kas-sy yelled out to Petrina.
Petrina jumped from her sit and hvgged her friend who she hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Wow! This place is gorgeous.. Kas-sy said …
The venue of the wedding was to be at Falls-way Events and Kas-sy was b!own away beyond expectations, where would she start from competing with this beautiful space. Her own wedding was at Pamodzi h0tel which is beautiful but a bit too cliché it was the “it” place then.
“So where is Patience?..” she asked.
“Patience is not yet here but girl she’s been so mad at you.. How could you be so ins-en-sitive?.. It’s her big day you just had to be back on time..”
“Oh come on! Petrina it looks like everything is un-der control so I don’t see why you’re ma-king such a big fuss.. Anyway can they really afford this place?..”
“Kas-sy come on, patience is an economist and her hubby is also well established so yeah why not?.. Petrina said.
Soon the bride drove in with Nonde following behind and everyone started arriving slowly.
“I know you want to yell at me right now but I [email protected]£ with your favorite.. cheese cake? …” Kas-sy told Patience.
“Really Kas-sy? I have a sack of things to tell you but thanks to Petrina everything is sorted.. can I have my cheese cake now?”
“Sure it’s in the car.. Kas-sy said as she handed her the keys.
Patience alre-ady noticed Kas-sy got a new car but she just kept quiet.
After the rehearsals when Patience left, Kas-sy pu-ll-ed the girls away and told them she wanted to have a surprise shower for Patience..
“That’s not possible it’s alre-ady too late.. Petrina interrupted
“Well I don’t mean the Zambian kind of bridal shower, I mean the night before the wedding.. We can pres£nt her with different gifts , like lingerie and perfume.. She said.
“Like tomorrow night? Nonde asked.
“Yes tomorrow night.. she replied
“All you mean that??.. well you should have just said otherwise I know what you are talking about.. Petrina said.
Nonde was just observing without a word..
“Why are you not contributing Nonde? Petrina asked.
“Nothing I like the idea and I think we shoud go for it.. so exactly what kind of pres£nts are we talking about here? She asked.
“Perfumes, makeup, lingerie and stuff like that.. you know things our friend can use in the be-droom…. Kas-sy said.
“So we do it at my house since that’s where we are slee-ping.. Kas-sy added.
“Hellooo… for your information we are no longer slee-ping at your house…” Nonde interrupted.
“Why?.. she asked in shocked.
“Well because our exclusive bride has booked us a room where we all shall sleep.. right here at the Fallway they have beautiful [email protected]”
“What???? Kas-sy asked in shock.
“Why spend all that money???..
“Well because she’s “Miss Know It All”.. just like you were on your wedding day.. Nonde tea-sed.
“Come on Kas-sy it’s her day so she can make all her wishes come true.. let her just enjoy it all..” Petrina said.
“Ok fine. And I took the liberty to make the room extra special for you ladies to enjoy..
“Well I bet you did… Nonde tea-sed.
“So ladies we are all set.. Tomorrow we buy our pres£nts and some snacks as well.. don’t get too much alcohol… Kas-sy warned..
When Kas-sy got home she was mad at the fact that Patience was doing her wedding over the t©p, t©pping her wedding and like that wasn’t enough she was also booking a room for them to spend the night.
Nonde on the other hand was just mad that Patience might have a better marriage than hers, although her love charm was working on her husband, it was draining to be doing the same thing over again and to also know that he did not love her genuinely.
Petrina was just excited that her friend was finally getting married and she couldn’t wait for the big day.
Patience had no idea what her friends were planning behind back, when she got home her aunties had arrived and some more family members in re-adiness for her big day.
“Patience come here I want to talk to you..” her mother said..
“My daughter we just have a day in between for your big day, tomorrow you will not be here so its just tonight. Its still not enough time for you to grasp everything at once but plea-se allow your aunties to run you throu-gh the basics of what you will nee-d in your marriage.. her mother begged.
“Mum the only thing I will nee-d in my marriage is my faith in Christ and that’s it.. all these other things are not necessary.”
Her mother got upset and she finally lost it.. she gave Patience a [email protected]
“You think I was a fool to manage to stay with your father for 30years!.. now you will not go into that marriage to embarras-s me.. You will do those teachings whether you like it or not!.. her mother yelled.
Patience shed a tear but did not argue back.. She decided to go throu-gh with the teachings all night but still made a secret decision not to follow them.
The following morning just before Petrina could bath to go and buy her friends pres£nt she received a call.
“Hi dear..”
“Uhhmmm hi.. she responded.
Wondering who this is?.. its Sydney.
“Oh hi Sydney.. she responded with a smile.
“I took the offer and I start work in a week.. he said.
“Oh ok that’s wonderful.. she responded.
“So how are the wedding preparations going?..
“They are fine I can’t complain.. I’m looking forward to seeing my lovely friend getting married almost like it were my own wedding.. she giggled.
“Oh that’s interesting so when is yours?.. he asked.
“No not anytime soon.. she said with a smile.
Why is he not re-ady?..
Well you can say that.. but he really isn’t there.. she said.
Really? Ok this seems interesting can we discuss it over lunch maybe?.. he asked.
Well I’m not sure if I will be done on time but maybe..
Maybe I can call around 11 to confirm?… he asked.
“Sure you can.. she replied.
Petrina a glow on her face after the call..
She managed to finish shopping just in time for Sydney’s call and they agreed to have lunch from ocean basket together.
Kas-sy on the other hand made sure she bought to impress, she always liked to stand out so this was another one of those opportunities to shine. She did not nee-d to go for any shopping since she had bought all the items in South Africa hence the decision to have the shower.
As Petrina and Sydney got settled they went back to the chat they had earlier on phone
“Yes so you said you are not [email protected]!ng? May I know why? He asked.
“I guess I just haven’t met the one.. she said.
“Or who is the one in your opinion? He asked.
“I have all that saved on my phone so you can go throu-gh the list.. she said as she searched for something on her phone.
“There you go.. that is the one for me.. she said.
“Wow.. impressive I should say… but hey how about I try and audition for the role of b©yfri£nd? I mean I’m single too and I think we can get along very well..
It was too straight forward and Patience was wondering what to say.. she held her glas-s of jui-ce and took a de-ep sip without a word..
“Don’t tell me you will think about it because that line is for teenagers.. he tea-sed.
“Ok here’s the deal.. we can go on several of these [email protected]£s and get to know each other then maybe we can decide if we are compatible.. he said.
Petrina giggled without a reply..
“Well I guess that is a yes? He asked.
“Yes I guess..
de-ep inside she was wondering why she accepted so soon but she just let it go and gave into Sydney. They talked for some time before she went for her hair appointment..
Sydney offered to drop her at the salon, so she packed all her items including the things she would nee-d for the following day as she would only be going back home after the wedding.
When she got to the salon the ladies were busy gossiping before the bride could arrive..
“What’s the issue? She asked.
“Well we are just mad because Patience booked another stylist, a good stylist while we have to be here.. Kas-sy said.
“I see nothing wrong with this place it’s a good salon and besides we are paying for our own hair so we could have decided to go elsewhere. She interrupted.
“That’s why she had to tell us on time.. Nonde said.
“Ok you guys like really let it go.. tomorrow is her day and she can do whatever she plea-ses.
When they got to the Fallway [email protected] where they would sleep they started setting up the place before Patience could show up.
Finally, Patience arrived and her friends surprised her with food and drinks as well as all sorts of pres£nts.
Of course Kas-sy waited to be the last to give her pres£nt.
“Patience, my bestie, my number one confidant I got you this pres£nt, I did not mind how costly it was because you are the best and I am so proud of you .. she said.
Nonde and Petrina were wi-nking and giggling because they knew Kas-sy just had to make a scene.. she liked to look important.
The ladies had fun but unfortunately it was time to sleep as they had a long day the following day.. Nonde on the other hand had something up her sleeves
When everyone fell asleep Nonde kept peeping while pretending to be asleep. She got up and opened the wardrobe where Patience had put her wedding dresses and all the items she was using for her big day.
Nonde pu-ll-ed out the charm she had tied to her wra-pper and whispered some words on it before putting it on Patience’s [email protected] for some few minutes.
Then she quic-kly got the charm and hid it in her bag. She was told that by morning the charm would have disappeared from her bag, a clear sign that she had sold Patience’s fertility. For sure that is what happened, the following day in the morning as they got up to have their hair and makeup done by the ladies from the salon, the charm had disappeared.
Patience was excited about her day, the video shoot started from when they were dressing until they went to church.
The bridesmaids looked beautiful and the groomsmen were on point but the stars of the day were the bride and groom. It was an expensive wedding from the start to the end. The wedding was well attended by important people and after the wedding they flew to Dubai for their honeymoon.
Patience was now starting a chapter of her life with Phili-p.. Something she referred to as. “MY PERFECT MARRIAGE”

*AFTER HONEYMOON..*
“I can’t believe I’m walking into my house..” Patience screamed excitedly.
The journey was long and the two had just arrived from their honeymoon, patience seemed to have enjoyed it all but her husband not so much.
“I can’t believe we are home honey.. And now in the comfort of our own home we can enjoy each other’s company all the time” her husband said as he reached out for a k!ss.
‘no we just arrived, let me take a shower and rest and enjoy being in my house” patience said.
Phil!pdragged the luggage to the be-droom and turned on his [email protected]©p and internet to check his emails, it seemed he had missed a lot while and he tried to catch up as Patience had her shower.
“hey you..” she greeted as she returned to the be-droom form her shower.
“Oh hi gorgeous.. Come and join me over here” he said as he placed the [email protected]©p aside.
“Not a chance.. I’m so exhausted.. I just want some really h0t tea and then I can take a nap” she said.
“You napped all throu-gh the journey” he said.
“Yep but wasn’t enough”
Patience sat by the dressing mirror tou-ching her face when her husband joined her and gave her a gentle shoulder ru-b.
“Come on.. in our new house..” he whispered.
“no..” she quic-kly denied as she moved away.
“Actually.. Considering that you did not have any rest on the plane at all, and I mean at all… why don’t you instead take a shower, have a nap and then we can consider other things” she said.
“yep guess you’re right.. Let me shower” Phil-ips aid.
The couple were well rested all throu-gh the afternoon up until late at night when they were both awake doing nothing
“can I plea-se have some food?’ Phil!pasked his wife who seemed to have been internet browsing on her phone.
Patience was quiet as if she had not heard a thing.
“hey.. can I plea-se have some food?” he asked.
Patience turned to look at her husband..
“eh.. we are both tired and we agreed we would be each other’s helper. I am tired.. so why don’t you cook something.. besides I’m uploading our wedding pics on facebook.. the network is bad if I make any silent movement..” she said.
“uhmm.. really honey?”
“yes of course, I am not your maid..”she said before retuning to her phone.
“really? As in really Patience? A simple request for food has gone this far? I’m not happy… No I’m not” he said.
Patience bur-st into laughter.
“no I’m seriously not happy it is not even funny” she said.
“eh… I’m sorry.. It was a joke”
“no that wasn’t funny” Phil-ips aid.
While patience went on browsing Phil!pgot himself some food and he also made his wife a plate of food.
“Thanks honey.. if you continue like this our marriage will last really long” she said.
Phil!pignored her but had something else to discuss.
“baby..”
“yes my love…”
“baby I wanted us to discuss something.. sit upright” he said.
Patience quic-kly sat upright and looked at her husband with a smile.
“why are you smiling?” he giggled.
“I am guessing you want to discuss what happened on our honeymoon.. I don’t think it’s a good idea to discuss it” he said.
“really? And that is you talking?”
“honey I told you… those things you are asking me to do are demonic” she said.
“I guess..” he sighed.
“no seriously honey we had this discussion before hand and you agreed..” patience said.
“Yes I agreed to some things and not everything..”
“You are a Christian and you are saved, why can’t you control yourself? Why do you want to explore unnecessary things.. Besides white people survive without going throu-gh that” she said.
“Well we are not whites, I have heard of it and I think it’s not a bad idea. I would really like you to try my wife.. remember you are supposed to make me happy and I am supposed to make you happy” she asked.
“Tradition is tradition!”
“awe those things are demonic.. I can’t” she said.
Phil!ptrying not to raise his temper left the be-droom and went to the living room, his wife quic-kly followed him.
“honey.. perhaps we should pray about it.. this thing is conflicting with our beliefs” she said.
“there’s no evil in you just learning even just a few things.. I get that we are a Christian power couple my love but plea-se come on.. ” he said.
“like what?” she asked rudely.
“I know how to cook, I know how to make you happy when you are sad, I know what you like.. what else?”
Phil!ptried ha-rd not to hit the nail on the head to avoid hurting her feelings. He did not want to seem too demanding but she was pushing him to the limit.
“baby.. come on.. I love you and I just want whats best for us.. maybe just learn some be-droom..”
“hold it right there! I knew this is what it was all about, you are so ungrateful.. what haven’t I done? All you just want is to satisfy your ego.. I’m not some object for your fantasies! You better get your head from these worldly fantasies and realise that there’s much more to marriage than be-droom issues.. and I’m so hurt.. are you saying I’m pathetic? Besides the last time I checked we were both vir-gins so where is all this stress coming from? Did you learn anything from somewhere. Anyway get a hold of yourself.. plea-se!” she yelled.
Phil!pwas lost for words and just kept quiet staring at the ceiling wondering where he had gone wrong.
Meanwhile Petrina was proposed to and plans were soon un-derway for her big day, she couldn’t wait. She had all her fantasies coming true in just a short period of time, it was if the heavens just opened and smiled at her.
It had been weeks since the wedding and Phil!pdidn’t seem to agree on anything with Patience. Almost all the time she was singing about how work was hectic and how they both had to cook or do other things together, he didn’t seem to have a problem with it but she acted indifferent every night. He decided not to talk about s-en-sitive issues for fear of hurting but he instead found it much to confide in a friend over lunch.
“See.. I still don’t un-derstand why you are complaining.. a woman putting me un-der that kind of stress? Nons-en-se.. I will be gone in no time” his friend said.
“no man.. you don’t know what marriage is..”
“and you do? So why are you complaining? Look either she learns to attend to her duties or she goes.. give her that option. So what if she’s working? Aren’t you working too?”
“yes but at the moment she contributes to expenses and I think she has the right to feel the way she does. I’m a man and I can’t even pay for everything”
“In this economy people help each other.. You can’t depend on one salary.. Does she meet you halfway on everything?..”
“No”
“So then why the stress? You are doing what you can, don’t stress.. she just nee-d to respect you brother. I told you from the beginning you spoilt her too much”
“no I didn’t.. I just loved her..”
“By ma-king the rest of us guys think we are doing little for our women? Anyway.. put her in her place..she is your woman”
“see that’s the problem I don’t want to address the issue” he said.
“but why?”
“because I don’t want to hurt her feelings” he said.
“well if you don’t.. you will certainly hurt her feelings because soon you will start entertaining other thoughts”
After work that day Phil!pdecided to pas-s throu-gh the boutique where Tisa worked, for some reason he thought of just pas-sing by to say hallo and apologise for letting her run off that way. Phil!phad a long battle in his car of what he was going to do until he finally decided that he was just going to say hello and leave.
“Sir she no longer works here.. she owns her own boutique now”
“madam.. I’m sorry but do you know where that is?” he asked worriedly.
“Yes.. But I can give you her number so you call her..” the woman by the counter replied.
“No mum…. Her address will be just fine.. we are old friends I want to surprise her” he said
Phil!pgot the paper where Tisa’s number was drafted and he happily rushed into his car. It was a Friday and the following day he left his wife at the salon before proceeding to Tisa’s shop. Looking at her from outside he froze for a minute, she looked just as beautiful as before. His mind began asking him why he went there in the first place as he stared at his ring for a minute.
“maybe I should open up to Patience and honestly tell her my concerns..” he thought.
Another voice interrupted.
“She’s a woman she has to know her duties I don’t have to remind her.. Besides I’m just befriending Tisa nothing more”
Phil!pwalked in sheepishly to the amazement of Tisa.. Her mouth hang low in shock.
