MY PERFECT MARRIAGE
EPISODE 17

It was almost Christmas and patience had planned a family get together, this was the opportunity for the whole family to see the baby. Her cousins, uncles, nieces and nephews were invited. Some relatives had confirmed to say they would be slee-ping over before the dinner.
Patience had given Phil!pa budget and she was expecting to get money from him at least two days before the event so she would shop for the event.
Phil!phad just knocked off from work when Patience approached him looking very upset.
“I gave you the budget two weeks ago and I don’t know why am not getting the money I asked for..” she said.
“Patience you are also working, don’t stress me.. He responded.
Patience couldn’t believe the response she got from Phili-p. She ru-bbe-d her eyes as if she was waking up from sleep.
“Phil!pthe fact that I work does not mean you cease to be the head of this house, by the way the past months I have been using my money to buy house supplies.” She said as she followed him to the be-droom.
“So just because you spent a little money of your salary I will be insulted?. Look here we are one and what is yours is mine. If I am going to buy things for this house so should you”.. he responded.
Patience was very upset but she just walked out on him and she went to check on the baby in her room, she was slee-ping peacefully. Meanwhile Phil!pfell asleep immediately and he refused to go for supper after Patience cooked.
The following day in the morning Patience bathed and she washed the baby before going out with the maid to do some shopping. When Phil!pwoke up he realised she had stepped out without saying a word.
Patience [email protected]£ back around midday, she had bought everything that was nee-ded and she also bought some groceries. Two of her cousins and her mum had alre-ady arrived and they were having lunch. By evening more people arrived including Patience’s mum. They divided the duties for the following day of who would do what and who would be in charge of what.
Phil!pdid not come home early that day and Patience was embarras-sed to face her mum because she knew her mum would ask where he was. Shortly after 11pm Phil!parrived looking very tired and just re-ady to go to be-d.
People were still sitted in the sitting room catching up as they watched TV when Phil!pwalked in, he greeted them with a high level of respect and then excused himself. Patience’s mum was shocked as she knew Phil!pvery well, he was a very friendly son in law but this reception from him surprised her a lot.
“Where have you been?” Patience asked as she followed him to the be-droom.
“WORK!!” he responded rudely in a loud voice.
“Phil!pyour work place closes at 7pm latest and this is past 11.. She said in an angry voice.
“I was working late.. He responded.
“Phil!pyou were working late? What Is going on?… she asked
“Nothing I am perfectly fine I just wish you gave me space sometimes”.. He said.
Patience was very emotional but she held herself together and she went to get food for him in the kitchen, every [email protected] of her wanted to yell but she did not want to alarm people. As she served the food her mum joined her in the kitchen.
“Do you nee-d any help honey?” her mother asked.
“i’m just serving him rice, he does not want nshima”.. she said
As she served the rice her heart was heavy and she couldn’t hold her tears inside any further.
“Patience what is it? Talk to me”.. her mum said.
“mum I miss dad, I wish he was here, I really wish he was here I know he would have taught me a lot of things”.. she said.
“Cool down honey, you will be ok trust me. Your father is looking down on you from heaven, but guess what? now you have a husband who can [email protected] role although he can never just replace your dad..”.. her mum said.
Patience cried more upon hearing those words because Phil!pwas nothing like her father.
After serving him the food, Phil!pate quic-kly then he tacked in and sle-pt.
“aren’t you going to shower?” she asked him.
“i’ve alre-ady showered”.. he responded.
It didn’t take long for him to realised what he had said then he corrected himself..
“I mean I showered in the morning, I don’t feel like showering now”.. he said.
The truth was Phil!phad showered at Tisa’s house after ma-king love.
The following day was Christmas Eve and early in the morning Phil!pleft saying he had some work he had to do before midday, in the actual s-en-se Phil!pwent shopping with Tisa for Christmas. He bought the twins new clothes and also paid for her vacation at Nsobe camp for a week using his Christmas bonus from work. He went home with a hvge Christmas cake which he had bought.
“awww honey this was very thoughtful of you”.. patience said as she welcomed him.
“is everyone here, he asked…
“People are still coming but freshen up honey so we can get re-ady for dinner.. guess what?
“What honey? He asked.
“Mum prepared your favourite lasgna and macaroni cheese…. She said.
“Aww really?.. mm I nee-d to prepare my taste buds.. mum is a great cook.. he said..
Dinner was great and the ladies also [email protected]£ over. Kas-sy [email protected]£ with her husband but Petrinas husband was working out of town. Nonde was looking much happier than the last time.
After dinner everyone relaxed in the backyard doing different activities while the couples sat around a fire and talked.
Patience’s mum was catching up with her brothers and sisters.
“So what’s new? Can we talk about the highs and lows as we go to Christmas.. Patience said.
Petrina quic-kly cleared her throat..
“Ok seems Petrina has something to say. Patience said
“Well I just wanted to say thank you for inviting us for this special dinner.. I mean we are not family but you still considered us as such which for me is very special and I would like us to give a toast to the most wonderful couple I know… can we all raise our glas-ses to Patience and Phili-p..
Everyone raised their glas-s and cheered as Petrina concluded her speech.
Kas-sy started by thanking all her friends for being supportive despite their ups and downs, she also gave credit to the men for being supportive.
“the main thing I wanted to share with you guys is that hubby and i….
Before Kas-sy could finish her statement Ted interrupted..
“honey can I be the one to say that?”.. Ted said.
“Ok go ahead.. she said with a smile.
“well as you well know Kas-sy and I despite having a flashy wedding did not wed in church, so after we started going to church seriously and talking to someone …… “ ted said reluctantly
He paused a bit and then looked at Kas-sy with a smile..
Kas-sy smiled back and then she said “well what Ted is trying to say is that we have officially decided to wed in church”
Everyone [email protected] and cheered, patience was very excited and she leaned over to k!ssPhili-p. de-ep inside her heart was fighting so many things, the pain of having to deal with his sudden moods. She hoped things would get better with time but the more she prayed the more she saw another side of him
Nonde on the other hand just thanked everyone and mentioned that meeting Christ was her greatest achievement.
Patience looked at Phil!pand she said her baby and her supportive husband were her greatest blessings
When it was time for Phil!pto talk he simply just made a toast to a good life. This upset Patience a little because she expected him to say something sweet, however she did not show her disappointment.
It had been two weeks after the Christmas get together and in just two days Tisa’s twins would be turning 1year. It so happened that the twin’s birthday was just a day before Patience’s mums birthday.
Tisa had ordered a cake for the twins and planned a special birthday for them. The lady that was ma-king the cake for the twins was staying just near Patience’s mums house and she was a highly recommended woman as her cakes were very good.
Patience was just going to make the order for her cake when she found the birthday cake for the twins. At first glance it looked like a normal beautiful cake and it triggered nothing. However as Patience was about to walk out of the house she pas-sed by the dining room again and the art on the cake caught her attention.
The cake was beautiful and blue in colour with the pictures of the twins. She looked at the twins and something struck in her as they resembled someone but she did not know who as their angelic faces did not give her a clue.
MY PERFECT MARRIAGE
EPISODE 18
“wow this cake is nice..” she said.
“oh that cake, yes its for twin boys”.. the baker responded.
The cake re-ad “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON AND JEREMY ”
“They are handsome boys.. she said
*They are, I have met them. The mum [email protected]£ with them when ma-king the order.. Actually the other cake is theirs too.. the baker said.
The other cake was a spider-man cake which re-ad “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MENA TWINS”.
“Their last name is Mena? Patience asked with a surprised look on her face.
“Yes dear.. the baker responded.
When Patience took a second look at the first cake the image of Phil!pwas all over them. Phil!phad one brother and he was a half-brother who was actually coloured so either these children were his or he had another brother somewhere but the resemblance was too obvious.
“These children resemble my friends babies, is Tamara the mother?.. Patience lied in an attempt to get the truth from aunty mercy the baker.
“Her name starts with T but I don’t think she is Tamara.. the baker said as she tried to recall.
“Oh it is Tisa her name is Tisa.. in fact she called me a while ago saying she is coming to pick up the cakes.. the woman said.
Shortly there was a hoot at the gate.
“Oh that must be her… aunty Mercy said as she peeped throu-gh the window.
Indeed just like she had guessed Tisa drove in looking very expensive in a short yellow dashiki dress with masai sli-ppers, her 22inches [email protected] hair with a neat lace front fixture was tied back in a ponytail.
She wore Gucci sunglas-ses to cover her eyes but immediately took them off as she walked into the house. Patience was [email protected]£d by the mere sight of her young fresh looking b©dy, her b©dy was in perfect shape while she thought of how uncomfortable she felt in her own b©dy especially after delivery.
“hi I’m here to collect the cakes.. Remember me? Tisa said as aunty Mercy opened the door for her.
Patience stood staring at Tisa as she walked toward the dining room, every bit of her hoping it wasn’t true. As Tisa drew nearer Patience lost her strength more and more.
“oh here they are, you are so good.. you never disappoint, these look beautiful”. Tisa said as she lifted the cakes.
Tisa was so excited about the cakes that she did not even recognize the pres£nce of Patience. As she was about to walk out Tisa looked up and saw Patience standing in a corner by the window where she had watched Tisa come in.
“Oh Patience you’re here I’m sorry I didn’t see you.. Tisa said with a teasing smile.
“You know my name? how do you know my name?.. Who are you? Where are you from? By the way aren’t you the one from the milkshake place? Patience asked in shock.
“Judging by the way you talk to me, I would like to believe you alre-ady know me.. Tisa responded in a slow rude tone.
Patience felt like she was losing her mind as Tisa walked out. The baker was shocked and asked Patience if anything was the matter but patience walked past her quic-kly and followed Tisa to the car.
“Excuse me you did not answer my question.. I asked a question. plea-se just answer me.. Patience said as her heart ached terribly. Her worst nightmare was becoming true.
‘if you want to know anything ask your husband, you have my name so i guess you can start from there…. Tisa said before entering the car and driving off.
As Patience remained standing thoughts quic-kly crossed her mind, she remembered the day the parcel reached with items that were receipted in Tisa’s name. The day she met Tisa and the over friendliness at the restaurant and how she saw Tisa at the house Phil!pclaimed to have sold, it was now all adding up. Her heart was racing, despite all this she still hoped Phil!pwould say it wasn’t true.
Patience immediately drove to Phili-ps work place and bugged into his office.
Phil!pwas talking to some people in a short meeting when Patience suddenly ban-ged the door and f0rç£d it open.
“Phil!ptell me it’s not true, plea-se tell me its not true…….. she said as her b©dy shook terribly. Her hair was unkept and she left her shoes in the car.
“Patience what’s going on? as you can see I have people in my office and we are having a..”
Patience screamed on t©p of her voice to the extent that the entire company was alarmed. “Tell me its not true Phili-p!!!..
People in the office got uncomfortable and they started moving.
”Am sorry plea-se excuse me.. Phil-ips aid to the people.
When they all stood up to go Patience looked at him and in a soft calm voice she asked Him
“Phil!pwho is Tisa and why does she have children that bear your name?”..
Phil!pcould not say a word but he [email protected]£ close to her and tried to t©uçh her.
“don’t you dare [email protected] hands on me Phili-p.. who is she?”
Patience I would rather die than confess that I hurt you because I love you too much to let you go.. Phil-ips aid.
Patience pu-ll-ed the rings from her f!nger and threw them at Phil!pand she walked out of the office. Nothing made s-en-se at that point but Patience knew she wanted to be far away otherwise she would do something that she was going to regret. So she drove home to pick the baby and dumped a couple of her clothes in the suitcase as well as the babies clothes then she dragged it to the car. The maid asked what was going on but she did not respond, she left her phones.
She fastened the baby in her car sit and started the engine. Patience parked at the fueling station and put a full tank and started driving south without any idea where she was going.
Her heart was heavy but she couldn’t cry, the betrayal was too much.
After driving for an hour she st©pped to br£@st feed her baby and change her diapers then she drove on, she took the route heading towards siavonga. Upon reaching Siavonga she st©pped and booked a room at a beautiful h0tel near the lake.
Patience bathed and she bathed the baby.. Her heart ached more as she looked at her poor daughter who was so innocent.
When the baby was asleep patience called for room service and ordered a bottle of red wine, she had the bottle and stared at it.
“I never thought this day would come when I would nee-d you to s£nd me to sleep”.. she said.
She drun!kthe bottle almost half way when she suddenly blacked and sle-pt.
Phil!phad gone to the club that night, he drun!kso much that he nearly made an accident on his way home. He had a feeling that he would not find Patience home and for sure she wasn’t home when he arrived. Patience had left without leaving any traces behind.
There was a loud ban-g on the door and some people were ban-ging on the window when Patience suddenly woke up, her head was spinning and her b©dy felt weak. The baby was crying and she lifted her as she went to open the door while struggling to open her eyes.
“excuse me woman are you crazy?”.. a man shouted as she opened the door.
She didn’t know what was going on but her eyes were now fully wi-de open as she stared at this man in front of her.
‘Your baby has been crying for almost an hour.. Have you lost your mind that you can’t feed the poor child!”.. the man yelled.
Patience looked at her baby and then smiled, “she is fine now… thank you.. Patience said.
“Is that all you going to say!! If you don’t love your child give her up for adoption! The man yelled.
Patience was sad inside and she looked at this man standing before her.
“I said thank you, she is fine now..” patience said before closing the door.
She overheard the man telling people in the hallway that the situation was un-der control.
“I didn’t mean to let you cry like that.. She said to her baby.
The baby looked at Patience with a small grin on her face.
“at least you un-derstand me..” Patience said as she sat down and started brea-stfeeding.
When she was done brea-stfeeding she put the baby against a pillow in front of her and started narrating to her what made them go to siavonga. Knowing very well that her little girl did not un-derstand a thing Patience asked her if she un-derstood. The baby just stared back. The baby fell asleep peacefully and she tacked her in immediately.
For the first time Patience felt a big lump on her throat and tears rolled down her cheeks. Her heart was heavy and her mind was filled with thought, what could have led him to do that? Wasn’t she good enough?
No question could complete her, Patience cried so much that her night dress was starting to get we-t.
She left the be-d and sat on the floor, her heart ached in every way but she wanted to ask God why..
Many thoughts rushed throu-gh her head at once. Patience [email protected]£d her purse and re-moved Phili-ps ph0to, her tears quic-kly covered the ph0to.
She cried out to God bitterly as tears rushed down her face……….
“My Jesus what did I ever do wrong? What did I ever do wrong?.. Phil!pand I communicated so well, if there was a problem why didn’t he tell me?……………………….. Lord why did you allow it to happen? ………………. Why!!!! When she was pregnant God why didn’t you terminate it! …………….. Why did you allow my husband see the n-kedness of another woman!!!…………………… what went throu-gh his mind when he did it?……………. what happened to our vows when he chose to undress another woman?……………. Jesus it hurts so bad.. it hurts to breath….., God where did I fail? Where did I fail you my Jesus that I should land in this [email protected]£nt?……… How will I ever face the world my God?………. Answer me GOD!!! Answer me now!!!!!!!!
It felt like a spear had struck her che-st and it stayed there.
Trouble has started. What do we do now?
Who’s to be blamed?
