Episode 33

Megan’s Pov:
I woke up the next morning, lying stark nak*d un-der the blankets. I spre-ad my hand on the be-d and noticed I was the only one lying on it. Where was Rodney?
I smiled and sat up. Remembering what had happened the previous night filled me with so much joy that I’ve never had to feel in so many years.
Rodney was so sweet in be-d with me and I wished it never had to come to an end. I couldn’t believe he was finally mine.
I left the be-d and walked to the wardrobe and found something light to wear.
Then I left the room and st©pped the first maid I saw.
“Do you know where Rodney is?” I asked.
“I think he left alre-ady. I saw him driving out not long. Ago.” She replied and walked away.
I sighed and felt a little disappointed. Why did he have to leave without saying anything to me?
Maybe he was shy” I finally concluded and walked away, beaming with smiles.
I didn’t want anything that’d ruin my joy that morning. Nothing at all.
I had breakfast, bathed and got re-ady for school.
On my way, I st©pped by a jewelry store and got a pretty n£¢klace and continued driving to school.
Immediately I arrived, I traced Edith and found her at the cafe and immediately, I jumped on her, [email protected] her ti-ght.
Edith’s Pov:
I was a bit surprised as Megan hvgged me and took me to a place that was free of students.
“Um…good morning Megan. What’s going on?” I asked with a fazed look and she giggled.
“You’re not gonna believe it Edith. Guess what happened last night” she asked with ecstacy.
“Um…you got a free visa to dubai?” I asked and she laughed and hvgged me again.
“Rodney mated with me last night” she exclaimed happily and I [email protected]
“Wait; hold on Megan; you mean Rodney sle-pt with you last night?” I asked with disbelieve and she giggled and [email protected] me.
“Yes Edith! It’s unbelievable. I didn’t expect it but It happened. It was so sweet! I can’t explain it”
I smiled happily and we unlocked from each other’s hold.
“I’m happy for you Megan. I told you the plan was going to work out.” I said and she smiled.
She di-pped her hand into her bag and brou-ght out a pretty n£¢klace
“Here; this is for you, for being such an amazing friend. Thank you, Edith” she said and I collected it from her and admired it.
“You know you’re always welcomed Megan. I’ll always be here for you”.
“Hmm” she sighed.
“So Rodney’s finally mine”.
“Yeah. And taking about relationsh!ps, I think that Audrey of a girl has been too close to that Leo of a guy for some time now”
“Yes, I think so. He even brou-ght her to the house yesterday. Anyway, that isn’t my problem. She can be with whomever she wants to be with, just as long as it’s not my Rodney”.
“Come on Megan. You know I have a crush on Leo. I can’t just lose him like that”
“Well, I guess that’s your problem now” she replied and laughed.
“But you know, Edith; I’m still scared of one thing- what if Rodney finds out I lied to him?”
“Come on Megan; there’s no way he’s gonna find out. Remember we paid the doctor awesomely and I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna expo-se. And aside him, no one else knows about it”.
Megan sighed nervously
“I hope so, Edith” she said.
We were about walking away when we saw Audrey from a distance and we smiled and walked over to where she was.
“Hi. Look whom we have here” Megan said with a wry smile while I giggled.
Audrey tried to walk away but we held her back.
“Where are you in a rush to Audrey? I just got here” Megan said while holding her wrist.
“I don’t have time for this Megan” Audrey said and f0rç£fully fred her hand from . Megan’s.
Megan sniggered.
“I just have one question for you, Audrey. Why were you so shocked when you found me In Rodney’s room?” She asked and my eyes drooped.
“You know, Audrey; it’s not just about forcing yourself on him by pretending to be of help. It’s all about the clas-s and to be sincere, you don’t belong”.
Audrey’s eyes flashed with anger as she looked at her.
“Well, I prefer being of help than pretend to be pathetic when there’s nothing wrong with me” she replied and Megan flin-ched.
What?
“And what’s that supposed to mean?” Megan asked.
“Don’t give a thought to It Megan. I think she’s just trying to defend the fact that she’s a loser” I ch!pped in.
“Well, I prefer being a loser than being a slave” she said and I fumed and held her shi-t r0ûghly, ma-king her stomach expo-sed.
“What did you say?” I asked angrily, still holding her shi-t.
She tried freeing her shi-t from my grasp but couldn’t. Then, she pushed me back and I almost fell on the floor.
What?
My anger increa-sed and I tried getting back at her.
“Edith!” Megan called raucously and I turned to look at her.
Why has she been quiet the whole time?
I looked at her and noticed she was looking like a ghost.
“Let’s go” she added and scurried away and I followed her.
Why was she acting that way?
She kept running until we got to an isolated area and that was when she st©pped, [email protected] heavily.
“Megan, what’s going on? She insulted me for God’s sake. Why did you ask me to let her be?” I asked angrily and at the same time, confused.
She remained mute with a pale expression. She looked like someone who was scared to death.
“Megan, what’s going on? Tell me, what happened?” I demanded more curiously and she finally spoke up.
Her voice was filled with so much fear.
“Edith, do…do you remember the day you had asked me if there was something I could use to recognise Jocelyn?” She asked tearfully and I nodded.
“Y…Yes, I do” now replied, now becoming a little scared as well.
“Do you remember what my reply was?”
“Well, you told me there was a mark on her tummy; just the same as yours”.
The angst on her face increa-sed as she stared into my eyes.
“Edith” she called; her voice shaking.
“I…I just saw that same mark on Audrey’s tummy”.

Edith’s Pov:
My eyes dilated in surprise as I stared back at Megan.
“You…Are…Are you sure? I mean, how’s that possible?” I stuttered.
“That’s the problem, Edith. I don’t know. Can it…possibly be a coincidence? How’s she able to get the same mark at the same sp©t?” She asked and paced restlessly around the room for some time and st©pped in front of me.
“Edith, do…do you think it’s possible?” She asked tearfully.
“I mean, could this explain why Rodney acts differently towards her? And why my mum had stood up against me in public just for her? was it because there was a bond all along?”
I was confused as well and didn’t know what to think. Megan was alre-ady weeping.
Could it be possible Audrey was Jocelyn?
I drew close to Megan and held her shoulders.
“Look Megan,” I said.
“Maybe we’re wrong. Maybe it’s just a coincidence and there might be an explanation for it” .
“But how can we be sure? What If my guess Is right?”
“Um…why..why don’t we carry out a DNA?”
“DNA? You want me to alarm her?”
“Urgh…We can still do it without her knowing. If we can just get a strand of her hair, we can merge it with yours and give it out for the DNA”.
She sniffed and cleaned her tears.
“But how’re we going to do it? How do we get her hair?” She asked and I looked at her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back” I replied and hurried out of the room.
*
I searched and asked for Audrey. I really wanted to help Megan. .
I was hoping Megan’s guess was wrong…or right. I didn’t even know what to hope for. But could Audrey be Jocelyn?
I kept searching until I finally sp©tted her coming out from a hall. But she wasn’t alone. She was with Leo.
Badnews.
How am I going to achieve my aim?
I took in a de-ep breath and budged forward to meet them. They were both surprised when I stood in front of them.
“Edith, is something wrong?” Leo asked confused since I had been staring quietly at them the whole time.
“I just [email protected]£ to do this” I replied and started pu-lling Audrey by the hair.
Audrey skrie-ked and tried freeing her hair but couldn’t and Leo interfered immediately.
He held my hands and pushed me to the floor.
“What’s wrong with you?” He asked angrily as tears quic-kly [email protected]£ my eyes.
I was hurt by what he did.
But luckily, I had gotten what I [email protected]£ for and I stood up and left.
Audrey’s Pov:
Leo turned to me immediately.
“Are you okay? Were you hurt?” He asked as he turned me from left to right.
“I’m…I’m fine” I replied dolfully.
He arranged my hair, brushing it backwards.
“Why didn’t you fight back, Audrey? You shouldn’t allow other people ride on you” he said rather disappointed.
I didn’t say anything but only bent my head.
Then he took me to the cafe where we ordered for foods and drinks.
I was quiet the whole time and kept ma-king little sniffles.
“Leo, can I ask you a question?” I finally paused to ask.
My eyes were alre-ady teary.
“How were the able to cope with the fact that Jocelyn was in love with Rodney, even when you had a crush on her?” I asked.
“I mean, wasn’t it painful? Seeing the one you love, ignoring you for someone else. How were you able to cope?”
Leo looked at me and smiled lightly.
“I just had to take things the way they were, Audrey. I had to accept the fact that she wasn’t mine and move on. It wasn’t easy; but I had to do it” he replied and I gave a nod.
Megan’s Pov:
I sat in the doctor’s office with the red different strands of hair in separate packets.
“So, you want a DNA on them?” The doctor asked as he scribbled something down in his jotter.
He was the same doctor that had helped me out in the fake accident stuff.
“Yes doctor. I just want to know if the two people that own these hair are related” I replied.
“Okay. It’ll be done. I’ll call you when the result is out”.
“And one more thing, doctor; plea-se, I’d want this to remain between both of us. I wouldn’t want a third [email protected] involved”.
“of course, of course. It’s [email protected] of our policy”.
I heaved a sigh and stood up with my bag.
“Thank you doctor. I’ll be on my way now” I said.
“Okay bye” the doctor replied and I left.
*
I was still restless the whole day. I couldn’t wait for the DNA result to come out so my doubts could be clarified.
I really wanted to know if my guess was right or wrong.
I decided to spend some time with Rodney.
I drove to his house and the first person I met was his mum.
“Megan!” She called happily and [email protected] me.
“What a plea-sant surprise. You didn’t tell me you were coming”.
“Good evening ma” I greeted as we unlocked from the hvg.
“Good evening dearie. You’re just in time for dinner”
Immediately, Rodney [email protected]£ in and my heart gave a leap.
“So how’ve you been, Megan?” Mrs Houston asked.
“It’s a good thing you’ve finally gotten off that wheelchair. It really didn’t suite you”
I smiled and didn’t know what to say. I was just carried away by Rodney’s pres£nce.
Just then, Mrs Houston’s phone rang and see excused herself to receive the call.
I was now alone with Rodney in the room.
“Hi” I said in a dissemble smile as I stood face to face with him.
“Hi” he also replied, almost un-der his breath.
“Um…Megan, I want to apologise for last night. I’m sorry it happened. I…I didn’t mean to. I was just carried away.’
I smiled again and placed my hand on his shoulder.
“Rodney, it’s okay” I said calmly.
“I un-derstand”.
He nodded and f0rç£d himself to smile.
Just then, Mrs Houston [email protected]£ back in and said:
“Dinner is re-ady”.
We all moved to the dining and ate together and after that, Rodney took me home.
My sound sleep was disrupted by the sound of my phone ringing.
I felt disturbe-d as I opened my eyes blearily to check whom it was. It was the doctor.
The sleep vanished away instantly as I sat up and picked the call, my heart beating fas-ter than a [email protected] drum.
“H…Hello doctor?” I called nervously on the phone.
“Good morning, miss Megan. The result of the DNA test is out” the doctor replied and my heart beat increa-sed.
I gulped nervously.
“Um…T…Thank you, doctor. I’ll…I’ll be there in a few minutes” I said and ended the call.
I’ve never been this nervous in my entire life.
I placed the phone on my che-st and stared upwards. I was so perturbe-d and scared to know the result of the DNA.
What if it matched? And Audrey was Jocelyn? But what if I’m also wrong?
Maybe there was only one way to find out.
I left the be-d and took my bath, getting changed afterwards. I quic-kly took off in my car and left for the hospital.
After a while, I arrived and went straight to the doctor’s office.
At first, he wasn’t in and I was asked to wait. But after a while, he [email protected]£ in with a file.
“Hope I didn’t take your time?” He asked as he took his seat on the other side of the table but I didn’t reply.
That wasn’t my problem at that moment.
He opened the file and brou-ght out the DNA result, hanging it to me.
I collected it nervously and my hands shook as I held it. I was so scared to look, but I had to.
I checked for the result Icon and tears dr!pp£ddown my eyes and stained on the paper like rainfall.
I covered my mouth with my palm and shivered.
It was positive.
The DNA were the same.
Audrey was Jocelyn; and Jocelyn was Audrey. They were the same person.
Audrey was my missing sister;
The one everyb©dy’s been looking for.
She was my sister…
But how…
Why…
When…
I knew she’s the one. Hmmmm I can’t wait
