✍️ Chapter Fourteen✍️

Five minutes later, we found ourselves at Ryland’s house [email protected], just like that.
Alre-ady there were people getting out of their cars and some walking into the [email protected] By the blvstering music that could alre-ady be heard from this distance indicated that the [email protected] had long started. I guess I was wrong; some people did come earlier in [email protected]
We were only forty-five minutes late and Sav was trudging up those stairs like she was running away from a serial killer. I lost her sight of her the instant we were inside the [email protected]
What a great friend! I thought to myself sarcastically as I tried trudging throu-gh a throng of people that were accompanying the hallway.
When I made it to the living, alre-ady it felt like a jungle full of animals. The lights had dimmed but they were still glowing in that [email protected] atmospheric mood. The lights were the only decorations pres£nt.
When I had been in this living area it had seemed fairly big, but, compared to the people occu-pying it now, it seemed a lot smaller and crowded.
Most people were in the middle of the room where I think a dance floor was made. The dance moves that were being spewed seemed more like people groping one another in some sort of dirty dancing ambiance even when the music pla-ying was far from being slow.
A group of guys and gals were occu-pying the sofas and though the [email protected] may have begun thirty minutes ago, it didn’t st©p them from eating each other’s mouths.
Another group were by Ryland’s computer system and though I couldn’t see neither Ryland nor Sav, I was sure they were there because I knew Ryland wouldn’t want anyone tou-ching his stuff.
There was another group as-sembled in the far corner where some food and drinks were arranged in organised lines. It seamed like some sort of game was being pla-yed there and from how much everyone was alre-ady consuming, I un-derstood that the organised line would soon be deranged.
It was getting crowded and more people were still coming by the door. The music was too loud and I wanted a drink of something. I tried reaching for that table that contained the drinks but I was st©pped in my track when someone dragged me to the dance floor for some dance.
The person was holding me from behind in some sort of spooning dance.
“Enjoying yourself?” I recognised that voice.
“James!” I turned around to face him. I had forgotten his height as I craned my n£¢k to catch a glimpse of him.
I grinned when I saw him sm-irking down at me. He had scru-bbe-d up pretty well; he was wearing dark skinny jeans with a white t-shi-t and a dark blazer.
“You look—” We both shouted from the music at the same time. I laughed and he grinned.
“You first!” I gave him a head go.
“I was just going to say that you look h0t! I see you tamed those curls!” He said, taking a lock of my hair in his f!ngers.
I felt a tug of something beneath my stomach. It was then that I remembered I was attracted to him, and I think my attraction was slowly developing into a crush.
“Thank you!” I grinned and he twirled me around with the music.
I was giggling like there was no tomorrow.
“Your turn!” He pu-ll-ed me close so that I could hear what he was saying.
It was in this proximity that his scent wafted in my nostrils. He was wearing some sort of cologne and as I breathed in the smell, I felt intoxicated.
“I was gonna say you look great too! I like your blazer!”
He sm-irked and I couldn’t st©p grinning my teeth off. The boy was doing wonders to my b©dy, and I didn’t know if it was the heat of the room or the heat of his b©dy combined with how he was tou-ching me.
“I know I kook great tonight! You don’t have to remind me.”
I giggled and pla-yfully sma-cked him for his vanity. I don’t know what was wrong with me. It wasn’t like I was drun!k. I hadn’t even drun!kanything yet.
“James, baby!” A girl suddenly bu-mped into us, forcibly falling unto James’s arms.
Like a good gentlemen, he straightened her up and blocked her attempts to throw herself at him. He stared at me apologetically and the girl turned herself around and began grinding herself on him.
And did I feel jealous throu-ghout this ordeal? I was surprised to find that I didn’t. In fact, it seemed quite funny to me and I kind of felt sorry for the poor girl.
“Danielle,” James said softly as he pu-ll-ed her gently away.
“Baby, I miss you!” She purred locking her hands around his n£¢k.
It was obvious that they knew each other, whether it had been a fling or a one night stand, I didn’t care. But I was annoyed at her intruding. I had been enjoying the dance I was having with him.
While he was whispering something to ear, I took that moment to discreetly flee from them in search for something to drink. Anything would have suited fine at that moment because of how thirsty I was.
I made my way to the kitchen, squee-zing throu-gh people who seemed intent to remain inseparable in their locked [email protected] Once I was there, I found the drinks.
Hallelujah! But as I looked for something less alcoholic I found there was nothing of that sort. So my next choice was red wine. I poured a cu-p and drained it instantly to ease my thirst. The bitterness of the after taste lingered in my throat, but I ignored it as I poured another one and decided sips will do fine for now.
I wasn’t alone in the kitchen. There was a couple by the counter interlocked in a heated [email protected]; their sloppy k!ss!ngnoises were loud enough to be heard from the turbulent of music blaring from the living area.
On the floor, next to the cu-pboard was a boy gulping his beer and snacking on crackers at the same time. I ignored these fellow inhabitants as I sipped on my wine and thought.
What was my agenda for tonight?
One, to get drun!k. Two, have S-x. Three, have fun doing it.
I hadn’t known that I had chos£n who I wanted to swipe my v-card with tonight, but when James’s face popped up as I thought of my agenda. I knew I alre-ady decided.
“There you are!” It was James’s voice that spoke from the doorway.
I turned around to face him with my faultless grin.
“Manage to get away?” I asked.
“I should be asking you that? Why did you run?” He moved closer towards me and because I was next to the beers, he reached out for one.
“You seemed preoccu-pied,” I sm-irked.
“I’m sorry about that. She’s just a girl that I…uh—” He fli-ckered with his hand.
“sle-pt with?” I finished his s£ntence.
He stared heatedly down towards me as he sipped on his beer.
“You don’t have to explain, I know the drill. Besides it’s not like we are…” I trailed, st©pping myself before I said something stupid. I laughed trying to hide my embarras-sment.
“It’s not like we are what?” He asked, his tone laced with amusement. I looked up at his hazel eyes. But instead of searing me like Kyle’s often did they only made me feel warm inside.
“It’s not like we are…[email protected]!ng.” I was compelled to finish my s£ntence and once the words were out, there was no taking them back. Something in his eyes fli-ckered and something strange happened, I don’t know if it was the wine finally affecting my blood, but I began moving closer to him as if there was pu-ll drawing me to him.
“Right-Right!” He said his famous phrase. He sipped on his beer, his eyes still staring down at me.
Our bodies were brushing each other as we stood there sipping our drinks whilst we locked gazes and it was at that moment that I was about to lean forward to k!sshim, when I felt a hand that didn’t belong to James gr-ab my shoulder.
I flin-ched, turning around quic-kly and I was met with scowling features that were emanating from Kyle’s face.
“Hey!” He shouted over the music. His eyes were fli-ckering between me and James and for a moment there was a thick tension lying between the air. I don’t know what it was, however, it seems like it didn’t affect James because he broke the silence.
“Dude!” He went over and gave Kyle one of those handshake hvgs which Kyle accepted.
“Hey, James.” Kyle greeted him.
“Man, I haven’t seen you in ages! How have you been?” James was grinning at Kyle and as I watched the exchange between them, I saw that James really admired Kyle.
“Ah, y’know been here and there, busy with school! How is it with you?” Kyle asked.
It was then that they got into an animated conversation that I couldn’t make out throu-ghout the raucous music. The fact that they seemed to have forgotten that I was next to them too was becoming increasingly annoying.
I cleared my throat loudly enough for them to hear me.
“Do you want a drink?” James was moving towards were the drinks were.
“It’s cool man, I’ll get it myself.” Kyle said as he went over to gr-ab a beer.
It was at that small exchange that they finally realised my pres£nce.
Kyle was staring at me in the way he had that day I tried on this dress.
I blu-shed instantly because for some reason, even though James did comment that I looked great tonight, it was only Kyle that managed to make me blush just by that one look.
“You made it.” I said to him, changing my train of thought very quic-kly. He looked good tonight, wearing dark jeans r!pp£dat the knee, with a khaki coloured t-shi-t and a black bomber jacket to match his jeans.
“Just got here with Ned…” He gestured to the doorway, looking back. “Guess he’s alre-ady made himself at home.” He shrugged.
I nodded awkwardly. I looked over at James and I realised he was staring at us with a hvge grin. I grinned back at him because it was infectious. My gaze went back to Kyle’s though.
“Your hair is different.” He said, frowning at it for a moment.
I [email protected]£ self-conscious as I moved my hand to place back a nonexistent lock of stray hair behind my ear. I drank my wine to hide this self consciousness. I had no idea what was wrong with me at the moment.
Why was I acting weird? I had no explanation for it.
Maybe it was because Kyle had almost caught me about to lockl-ips with James.
“Sav straightened it.” I said as a pas-sing comment.
He nodded and that’s when I realised he was acting weird too. He seemed a lot tense, poised and aware of his surroundings.
“It’s different.”
I frowned, “Yeah, okay.”
“So, you guys are best buds, huh? Who would have known? Such a small world isn’t it?”
I nodded.
“The smallest.” Kyle sipped on his drink.
There was a brief moment of an awkward silence and I was staring at Kyle in annoyance now. I wanted him to leave alre-ady; he had alre-ady said his greetings. I was having a moment with James and I wanted to continue with that.
“Aren’t you gonna go to the living room? To dance or something?” I asked him, my eyes communicating with his in an obvious look that said leave now.
“No, I don’t want to dance. Besides, I don’t know anyone there, just you guys and you guys are here, so I’ll hang with you.” He smiled his toothy grin.

James didn’t mind and he was ignorant of the mixed messages I was having with Kyle.
“Ned’s there and I’m sure you can make friends. It’s a [email protected], it’s a place to meet new people and mingle,” I said hiding my annoyed tone, but Kyle knew exactly that I was trying to get him to leave and he was becoming arrogant about it.
He sm-irked. “I’d rather stay here.”
I was about to retaliate but then a group of girls bur-st in the kitchen and when they saw the hunks I was standing next to, they instantly made their way over, oblivious that I was pres£nt.
“Hey!” One of them said, moving over to James. “You’re h0t!” She giggled.
“No, he’s mine!” It was then that I saw the girl whom James had to deal with earlier. What was her name again? Something with Ella.
“Girls, girls!” James tried his best to prevent the impending cat fight between them. He looked over at us with apologising eyes.
I watched this spectacle with pas-sive amusement but that was when I felt a hand gripping my arm and pu-lling away from the kitchen to the dark corner of the hallway. James didn’t realise Kyle and I had sli-pped away.
“James? Really?” Kyle cornered me, the dim light in the hallway enough for me to see his face.
“What about James?” I frowned. I was trying to escape him but he wasn’t in any verge of budging. I furiously met his eyes.
“Are you planning to sleep with him?” Kyle accused me.
He was pissing me off and he knew it.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.” I bellowed angrily.
“Not my business?” Kyle sputtered in disbelief, exasperatedly running his hand throu-gh his unkempt hair.
I cursed whatever it was that was ma-king me want to do the exact same thing he was doing. No, I wanted more than to just run my hands throu-gh his hair. I wanted to yank it till it hurt.
“It is my fv¢king business, Keya! You made it my business when you asked me to do exactly what you’re planning to do with him.” He angrily slammed his hands next to me on the wall.
I flin-ched at the impact and though the drumming music was still [email protected] the whole house, I still heard that impact.
“No, it’s not!” I was shouting too.”Seriously get your head of out of the gutter! I didn’t even ask him to do anything with me.” I glared at him.
He floun-dered for a moment before he spoke, his tone a lot calmer now.
“Good, cos he fv¢king won’t. Not if I ask him not to.” He threatened.
“You wouldn’t dare!” My eyes bulged at his threat.
He smiled coldly and leaned towards me so-so close that I found my lungs losing function again.
“You wanna bet?” He said, his dilated eyes burning me down to the pit of my core. It did wonders having him so close like this, having him looking at me like that. He didn’t help my alre-ady boiling b©dy, when he scorched his eyes down to myl-ips.
I was getting tired of feeling like this.
Feeling so arou-sedand at the same time, feeling a frustrated longing for him. I was forgetting that I was meant to be angry at him.
With this anger I pushed him away with all the f0rç£ I could muster.

“I don’t know why you’re so against me losing my vir-ginity. But, just know this Kyle. You’re not my brother, nor are you my father. This is my decision and if I want to lose my vir-ginity tonight, I can and will. It’s my choice, not yours.” My f!nger was nudging his che-st and it had an effect as he backed slowly away from me. His eyes glazing an anger that had me almost had me retreating back to where I was.
I gave him one glaring look before I strutted away from his pres£nce towards the kitchen where James was still trying to st©p the two girls from grazing each other.
I went over to the drink section and this time I opened the vodka bottle and took three sh0ts. I could still feel Kyle’s seething anger at my back and I knew he was at the doorway.
With a new confidence I got from the help of my good friend Smirnoff, I courageously brushed off the two girls, my eyes targeting straight at James. He looked at me worriedly for a moment and he was about to say something. But whatever he was going to say was impeded by my advance. I simply [email protected]£d him by the back of his n£¢k and pu-ll-ed him down to my awaitingl-ips.
✍️ Chapter Fifteen✍️
To say I was disappointed was an un-derstatement. I was devastated.
The soon as myl-ips locked with his, I had expected the earlier waves fire that had burned their way throu-gh my b©dy when Kyle had cornered me. Instead, that fire fused down to a simmering flame that ba-rely t©uçhed me when I k!$$£d James.
He was the one to break the k!ssbecause I took him by surprise.
“Keya?” He said his tone a mixture of worry, confusion and excitement.
“Shh.” I pressed my f!ngerson hisl-ips. “I had to do that.”
“You’re so full of surprises.” He grinned dreamily as he leaned down to capture me in another k!ss. I st©pped it quic-kly before it escalated into something more, something more like feeling his ton-gue in my mouth. I didn’t want that. I told myself at least not yet anyway.
Because my back was starting to ache from all the burning holes emitting from Kyle’s glare, I had to turn around to look at him.
I gave him an I-dare-you-to-do-something look, but he just narrowed his eyes at me, both his jaw and hands clenching. He closed his eyes as he breathed in de-eply and by the time he breathed out and opened his eyes, he disappeared into the darkness of the hallway.
I could have felt smug if it wasn’t for the guilt that was sipping its way inside me.Damn you Kyle! I thought. Why the hell am I feeling guilty for?
James tugged me back to his attention and I basked in his grinning face, it slowly appeased the guilt. But, the fact that I could still feel it meant that I was still slightly sober.
So what’s a better way to block out your sorrows than to drink? That’s what I had done for the hours of [email protected] that followed. I danced with James and then we drank. We talked, we laughed and we drank some more until I just couldn’t remember anything.
Whatever guilt I felt had long seized. It completely wiped its way out of my system when I saw Kyle in the midst of the crowd on the sofa talking with someone whose face I recognised belonged to Mandy [email protected] He was grinning from ear to ear and she was smiling too, leaning towards him in the process.
For a long moment as I watched the two of them looking at each other that way, a slow but tearing jealousy hit my system, completely knocking me off course. Because I was also drun!k, this meant that I couldn’t walk away from the scene without staggering and bu-mping into people.
I don’t know how I ended up in James’s arms, but I did.
“There you are, you…you keep sli-pping away from me.” He slurred his words, a result from his drun!ken state.
“My knight in shining silver armour!” I threw myself at him.
“If there’s anything that’s shinning and silver, it’s your gorgeous eyes!”
I swooned because I was not myself and because the song that was pla-ying was so overwhelming we found ourselves slow-dancing to it.
“C’mon…let’s go somewhere q-quiet!” He moved away from the living room, dragging me to one of the be-drooms.
This is it. I thought drun!kenly to myself. I am finally going to lose my vir-ginity!
As he barged to one of the rooms, the [email protected] in it were ma-king S-xual mournful noises. The noises st©pped as soon as they heard the door ban-ging open.
“Dude, get the fv¢k out!” A male voice boomed.
“Who is it?” My slowly processing [email protected] recognised that voice, it was Sav’s voice.
My jaw dropped to the floor as realisation of what they were doing dawned. James was quic-k to act as he pu-ll-ed me away, apologising to the couple before he shut their door. We staggered to the next room and found it unoccu-pied.
I giggled when James pu-ll-ed me to a k!ssand began the notion of groping me in places that I had never been groped before.
I knew that this was unsettling, even my [email protected] somehow finally managed to realise that although my b©dy was S-xually frustrated. It didn’t want this at the moment.
It was too late to back out. James was alre-ady pushing me to the be-d, pu-lling his t-shi-t off at the same time. For a moment, I worried that he was going to be rou-gh on me, thinking I was alre-ady deflowered.
I anticipated his b©dy about to lie next to me when suddenly he grunted. In the dark, I could see blurring figures and someone pu-lling James.
“Back off!” James shouted.
I sat up and staggered out of the be-d to face the figures.
“It’s me, Kyle.” A voice spoke. Not just a voice but one that belonged to my best friend Kyle.
My slow processing [email protected] recalled that we weren’t in speaking terms due to our earlier argument regarding my vir-ginity.
“Dude, what the fruck … you chose a wrong time. I’m kind of bus—”
“You can’t sleep with this girl, James.” Kyle spoke.
“Why not?”
This was followed by a whisper.
“What?”
Kyle whispered again.
“She’s a …vir-gin?” James suddenly bur-st out, his tone laced with shock and incredulity.
“Seriously. And you know how vir-gins are. They become very clingy and you don’t want that, do you?”
“I…guess not.”
I was sick to my stomach, literally. I felt bile rising up in my throat and I tried to swallow my impending gag.
The figures moved towards the be-d and I saw the blurred vision of Kyle putting James back to be-d.”Just sleep, buddy, I’ll take care of everything.” He told James as he [email protected]£d a blanket over him.
“Thanks man, y-you’re the best!” James made a drun!ken yawning noise.
Kyle turned to me and I staggered back, away from him. He was quic-k because in two strides he was before me. Without words spoken, he simply [email protected]£d me by my arm and began pu-lling me away from the be-droom.
“W-what are you… doing?” I slurred as I staggered with him out of the [email protected]
“Taking you home.” He said.
I shook my head vigorously. “N-no, no you can’t. I’m…I’m staying over at Savs.”
“Then where is she?” He asked rhetorically.
I fumed silently. “You can’t…you can’t take me home. Teddy can’t see me like this….he’ll… he’ll murder me.”
The boy that was hauling me to his car seemed pissed off. I could tell by his constant clenching and unclenching of his jaw that he was angry at something.
“Maybe it’s for the best, Keya, cos I really don’t know what do with you right now.” He muttered.
I don’t know how he managed my to put my fumbling b©dy to the pas-s£nger’s seat with a seat belt safely stra-pped on too, but he did. I laughed throu-gh it all.
Kyle went over to the driver’s seat and fumbled with the keys as he began the car and drove away. The movement of the car wasn’t agreeing with my head and stomach and I gro-an ed as I felt bile rising up again.
“I think I’m gonna—” I didn’t get to finish my warning before I spewed all my stomach’s contents down the pas-s£nger seat.
“Frucking hell!” I heard Kyle’s bellow and I gro-an ed at his shouting. He swerved to park at the side road. He got out ban-ging the car door.
In minutes he was by my side, unbuckling my seat belt and helped me out of the car. He was holding my hair back from my face, tenderly [email protected]£ss!ngmy back as he encouraged me to finish throwing up.
When I was done Kyle gentle sat me on the ground away from my sickness. He took off his jacket and [email protected]£d it on my shivering b©dy, and then he went back to the car where he brou-ght a bottle of water. He helped me drink it, but, because there was still alcohol in my b©dy it meant that I was still intoxicated, so I spluttered the water from my mouth as I laughed, for some reason finding the situation a lot funny.
Kyle’s patient never waned but he constantly re-leased curses now and then at my lack of cooperation. When he was done with me, he went over to take the mat un-der the seat where all my vomit was oozing from. gro-an ing out a curse, he used the remaining water to drain out all of my vomit.
The smell was still strong but it seemed like he was prepared because he went over to the boot of the car to discard the infected mat. From there, he brou-ght out some fabric freshener in which he used to drown the pene-trating stench of vomit in his car.
He helped me back to the pas-s£nger seat and I giggled when he t©uçhed me in my h!ps as he buckled my seat-belt.
When that ordeal was over, Kyle simply drove silently away. With a lot of mood changes from me, he managed to get us to his place safe and soundly. I don’t know how he managed it, but we made our way to his room instantly.
It was then and there that my anger flared up again from his earlier actions.
“Don’t t©uçh me!” I pushed him away when he pu-ll-ed his jacket from my b©dy and tried to take my shoes off.
“You know what? Fine, do it your own way. I’m done!” His patience had ran out and my anger was increasing by each minute, especially when I tried and failed to get the stra-ps of my heels off.
When he saw that I was struggling he seemed to have taken his words back because he was by my side instantly, helping me get my shoes off.
“I don’t like you, right now.” I grunted when he got the last shoe off.
He remained unresponsive.
“It’s not fair! Why did you do that! I was having a moment with James. You just had to go on and ruin it!” I ranted.
He went over to one of his drawers and took a fresh t-shi-t and [email protected]
“You’ll thank me later.” He muttered as he walked over to me.
I watched him with shrewd eyes. “You’ll thank me later.” I mocked him, immaturely snorting to myself. “You’re such an @$$!” I told him.
I watched him try to put my legs throu-gh the two holes of the [email protected]
“And you love me for it.” He muttered again.
I snorted.”You wish.”
“You’re moody when you’re drun!k.” He only commented.
“You’re moody when you’re drun!k.” I mocked again and laughed to myself when I got his tone right.
He pu-ll-ed me up r0ûghly and I could tell he was annoyed. He pu-ll-ed the sweats from my legs up too to cover my bo-ttomhalf. The dress I was wearing was pushed upwards to my midriff in the process.
I was [email protected] evidently because he was inti-mately tou-ching me my [email protected]!st as he tied a note to adjust the [email protected] so that they will fit me properly. Because I was still drun!k, his t©uçh had a hvge alarming affect on my b©dy.
“Are you wearing a [email protected]?” He asked me suddenly as he re-leased his hands from my b©dy and took the t-shi-t.
It took a lot more to process his words, so the end result was me just staring lamely at him.
“I’ll take that as a no.” He breathed. He [email protected]£d the t-shi-t on me, head first and took my hands into the holes, dressing me as if I were a child.
Maybe I did seem like a child by the way I was acting because of my drun!ken state, however, I couldn’t care less if I was being immature.
“You have a nerve!” I exclaimed exasperatedly but it was more from of the affect of feeling his hands brush un-der the skin of my armpits and sides as he slowly slid my dress downwards ex-posing me. But the t-shi-t I alre-ady wore kept me from ex-posing my che-st from the full view of his pene-trating eyes.
I felt his thumb brush past the side of my brea-sts and I st©pped breathing. I think he did too because his hands remained in that position for longer than necessary. We both stared at each other as if seizing each other’s actions.
My alcohol infected [email protected] was encouraging me to make a movement that would make him move his hands into fully cu-pping my brea-sts, but, as if he knew what I was thinking Kyle closed his eyes, took a de-ep breath and pu-ll-ed my dress downwards from [email protected]!st to h!ps, to th!ghs and legs and eventually off my b©dy.
He moved away instantly as he folded my dress and placed it somewhere in his chair.
“Why didn’t you just t©uçh me?” I asked him.
He wh!pped around to face me, his lvst-filled eyes searing mines.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said as he moved over to the be-d and pu-ll-ed the covers. “Get into be-d.”
“No, not unless you’re coming in with me.” I said in what I thought was my s£dûçt!vevoice.
It seemed that my anger had long fled and was replaced with this want—no, nee-d—to have S-x, that I was now ma-king irresponsible actions. Gosh, I was turning into Sav.
“You told me the other time…that if we weren’t friends…you’d sleep with me, so why not just pretend we are not friends now?” I asked, slowly moving towards him.
“Keya, you’re drun!k. Get into be-d.” He ordered, carefully blocking my attempts to t©uçh him as he swiftly and forcibly pushed me downwards to the awaiting be-d.
I gro-an ed out of frustration, but the minute my head hit the pillow, his scent emanated from his sheets. I breathed in de-eply and it felt as if I was being lulled to sleep. My eyes closed involuntarily and I found myself being pu-ll-ed to sleep.
I felt hands brushing my hair out of my face, followed by softl-ips pressing against my forehead, burning the skin there. Before I completely fell into slumber, his soft voice wished me goodnight. After that, I sle-pt in what was the most comfortable dreamless sleep.
