AGE DOESN’T 🙅♀️ 🙅♂️
All Jason had said was nothing but the truth and his speech should be said with confettis coming out of his mouth! Because that was a whole lot of sincere truth. How did he get to find out what was bottled up inside me.
But well I think it’s time.
“Come on, let’s work on this t©pic!” I breathed out and Jason nodded. Thankfully, he didn’t start up another truthful honest speech, rather he just listened to what I was saying and did what I said.
We both worked on the t©pic and like always, he is pretty good at math.
“You should definitely tell your mom you don’t nee-d a tutor anymore!” I said as I marked the set of questions I gave to Jason minutes ago.
He got everything right.
“I still do!” He protested.
“Maybe I am too good of a teacher, you’ve taken my smartness! How come you’re not getting anything wrong!” I sighed.
“You’re supposed to encourage me as a student, not complain on why I’m not failing the t©pics. You’re a bad teacher!” Jason stated.
“I’m not and it is a compliment, you’re doing well anyways.!” I said as I dropped his book in front of me.
“So are you planning to quit?” Jason suddenly asked.
“Soon! Cause, your mom is wonderful. My first pay will be more than enough” I replied.
“Soon? If you quit who’s going to tutor me?”
“St©p pretending to be dumb, you’re smart on your own, your problem is just distraction, you easily lose focus, you just nee-d to work on that, you don’t nee-d a tutor. But I’m glad you did pretend to be dumb with math cause I wouldn’t have gotten this job in the first place, and the pay is just splendid, your family is damn well off!” I stated and stood up.
“Okay this is strange I can’t believe you’re glad I acted dumb! But anyways, you’re welcome and where are you going?” Jason asked as he watched me walked from to study desk.
I got close to his be-d and sat down. “Going to find a little comfort, and we’re both having a thirty minutes break, all work and no rest makes Jason a dull boy!” I said.
Jason laughed. “what? I know you made that up!”
“I did! Now just let me rest, I’m tired!” I sighed and let my back fall on the soft layers of the be-d.
“Shouldn’t I be the on resting?” Jason asked.
“Are you trying to start an argument with me?” I retorted.
“I’m not, but I’m just saying!” He replied.
“You’re just saying! You’re just saying every single time. You know we’re on break right, so a jui-ce box will be great right now, would you mind getting some for us!” I said sitting up.
“You’re starting to get bossy!” Jason gave me a pla-yful glare and got up from the chair and left to get what I asked for.
He complains but still do it.
The break I set was over and we both continued with our lesson, but didn’t do much for the whole day, we get carried away with one or two things and then it will lead to a long conversation.
Finally the day [email protected]£ to an end and I packed my books and got re-ady to leave.
“Would you mind if I esc-rt you?” Jason said as he walked me out of his room.
“And will you be okay if I say no?” I retorted and his face went blank.
I laughed. “You shouldn’t have asked that. Come on then, let’s go!” I said and he beamed.
Goodnight ended our day’s conversation and we went [email protected]
I went home to my family and for what seemed like forever. We all had dinner together that night.
I snuggled up un-der my blanket as it happened to be a cold night. Still thinking about the whole thing Jason said, I started to synchronise his words with my actions in my head for the past three years and everything rhymed. I’ve been the total opposite of transparency ever since and I’ve not really wanted open up my heart to anyone.
Well now. I hope to be transparent and hope things change.
Maybe if I’ve been a little open to Neil. But it’s too late.
I sighed and buried my head inside my pillow, I let all thoughts leave my b©dy, and I little by little it left and sleep [email protected]£ along.
It was Saturday morning, I was up early and didn’t know why. Well technically Jason and I are going on a [email protected]£. But it’s not until two in the afternoon. But I did wake up early.
Waking up did give me a whole lot of time to prepare breakfast for my parents, my dad has resumed his work. But my mom still stays home, well for full recovery, she has alre-ady recovered. But we still want full recovery.
As my wish that morning, we all ate together and the meal even tasted better with us eating together.
It was an hour before my [email protected]£ with Jason, and I was seated on one of our cushion in the living room watching TV, when my mom [email protected]£ by and asked for the name of the movie I was watching.
I told her and she joined me, but it was alre-ady ending, the movie ended and I turned off the TV.
“bu-mmer!” my mom laughed.
“Sorry, wrong timing!” I told.
We both remained quiet until I cleared my throat and said. “I’m going on a [email protected]£, this afternoon, mom!”
She wasn’t surprised she just asked. “Oh, with who… Cause you broked up with Neil!”
I swallowed my pride, or whatever that was, that I swallowed.
“Jason!” I replied.
My mom turned to me. “Who’s Jason? Cause the only Jason I know is the one you tutor!” she smiled.
“And he is the one I’m going on a [email protected]£ with!” I bit my bottoml-ip.
“Oh… I didn’t know, well then I wish u both good luck!” she smiled…
I gave her a look.
“What?” she asked.
“Doesn’t it seem weird to you?” I asked.
“Why would it be weird?” she asked.
“Aren’t you going to say something like, why would you be going on a [email protected]£ with someone younger than you!”
“And why would I say something like that, why does age matter?” my mom rolled her eyes.
“I don’t know cause to me, I still feel like it does!” I sighed.
“As long as the likeness and happiness is there, it won’t really matter, just trust me and you must be joking cause my sister, your aunt flora is three years older than Xavier, and look they’re happy with their kids.” my mom said and I gaped.
“Wait! What? Uncle Xavier is not older than aunt flora?” I asked and my mom nodded.
“And he looks like he’s fifty alre-ady!” I said, I’m not sure he’s in his late thirties, but he looks older.
“men will always be men dear. That’s why age doesn’t matter to them, cause they will always look older than their age!” my mom laughed at my squee-zed face. “so to them, age is just a number they keep counting and to know where to clas-sify them selves, so don’t go on like that, and girls women will always be women, have someone ever told you, you don’t look your age, to me, you look seventeen! You don’t look twenty one, at all!” my mom tea-sed.
First Jason called me sixteen and now mom’s calling seventeen. I don’t look that small, do I?
I hurried to the place Jason and I, planned to meet and I hoped I haven’t kept him waiting cause I really hate it when people wait for me.
I saw Jason standing in front of the restaurant we planned to meet, he was dressed in all black, only his inner shi-t was white and his shoes, he wore a silver n£¢klace and the pendant was a dove. He styled his hair in a different way and I would say, he was really prepared for this [email protected]£ cause he was being his put, He is always charming. But today was an exception. Cause he was more than charming.
“Hope you didn’t wait too long for me!” I breathed as I got to Jason and he turned to me.
“No I just got here and have you been running?” he asked, I could feel all my hair standing and I almost cried cause I spent minutes brushing it, why did I have to run, he just got here.
“Are you sure you just got here?” I wanted to know
Jason looked at me. “well, I’ve been here for about fifty five minutes, I wanted to be a gentle man and then lied so you won’t feel guilty being tardy.”
“Well then, looks like I didn’t run for nothing!” I breathed out a sigh of relief.
“Why didn’t you wear the dress, you wore on your first [email protected]£ with Neil?” Jason asked.
“Huh?” I looked down at my clothes.
“Is there any thing wrong with my dress? Cause I just bought this from the mall like an hour ago” I said with a low, sad tone.
“No, but you’ll get your money back right?” He grinned.
“What?” I yelled and he laughed. “You just failed your first [email protected]£, things you should on your first [email protected]£ is to compliment on how your [email protected] looks before any other things, even if the clothes they’re putting on looks hideous!” I expound.
“I was just teasing ya, Honestly you look lovely Elsa,” he laughed.
“Well thanks!” I breathed in. “Honestly, I didn’t get this from the mall, it’s actually among my dresses I was planning to throw out!” I smiled and did a pirouette.
“What?” Jason yelled.
“Come on, let’s go inside alre-ady!” I said and started to walk towards the door.
Look at us being childish, and there I thought thinking maturity is all that matters. We’ll all be a child at heart, no matter how much of maturity we exhibit.
Why do I see a start of something new.
“And then I’ll order any special food on the house.!” I said and gave the waitress the book menu.
“Okay then,” the waitress smiled and walked away.
“But come to think about it. Why do people always decide on eating out on restaurants whenever they’re on [email protected]£s!” Jason asked and I looked up at him.
“Technically because eating out totally fits and brou-ght out the word [email protected]£!” I replied.
“Well it’s lame!” Jason said.
“Its lovely!” I smiled and he gave me a look.
Our foods [email protected]£ in and we both started to eat.
“I think my cookings are better!” Jason said as he took a bite out of the chicken.
“Like you’d know what a frying pan is!” I rolled my eyes.
“Ouch!” He said as he dropped his fork.
“What? I’m just saying what I think it’s the truth!” I laughed.
“Well you’re just saying what you think, I know I can cook. If you have a taste of my meal, you won’t bother coming to have your meal in any restaurants,” Jason boasted.
“Yeah because I’ll be dead by then!” I replied.
“Dead by the sweet taste.!”
“Dead by the poison you called food.!” I sm-irk
“You just un-derestimate me too much!” Jason shut his eyes and opened them back up, ma-king me laugh real [email protected]
This is how I think [email protected]£s should be, the atmosphere should be humouring and our hearts should be childish.
“That was one of the best food I’ve ever tasted!” I said after the meal we just had in the restaurant.
“Well I still think I can do better!” Jason stated ma-king me roll my eyes.
“Don’t be a lame j£rk and pay up so we can get out of here, somehow this restaurant feels like a hospital!” I said.
“That’s the first thing i said to my self when we walked in, but wait! I thought you were paying!” Jason blurted.
“Me? You’re Joking right? I’m the female here, not the male, and you’re so not okay, if you’re planning to keep your parent’s money bottled up in your pocket! Now pay up and come meet me outside!” I said, stood up, [email protected]£d my bag and walked out of the restaurant.
Immediately I stepped outside, the sun suddenly hid behind the cloud and I quic-kly prayed for it to remain like that, cause the sun was pretty h0t, and being cloudy like this, the day felt more calm.
“What are we looking at?” I heard Jason’s voice behind me I turned.
“Nothing!” I sighed.
“You seem bored, Is the [email protected]£ lame to you?” Jason asked, his expression folding into a case of worry.
“I’m not bored and if I happen to be bored, I’ll tell you right away,” I stated and he shook his head. “You’re not even planning to pretend everything’s alright and pretend the [email protected]£ is not boring even if it is boring?” Neil shook his head.
“And why would I do something like that and kill myself.!” I smiled.
Jason sighed trying to push back his sigh.
“Anyways.” He started “There’s a cinema around the corner here, it’s not too big, so would you like to go see a movie?” Jason asked…
“I was tra-pped in the restaurant enough, a movie place would be worst, we should go places that involves being outdoors, you un-derstand right?” I explained and he nodded putting his hand in his pocket.
“So… Do You want to go the wave lake?” Jason asked. “I mean it’s perfect for [email protected]£s, like I heard and people especially couples go there to watch the sunset and beside the view is pretty good.” Jason expound.
“Well, then what are we waiting for” I said as I adjusted my purse on my b©dy.
“Okay, it’s not far from here, it’s just like taking a step from–
“I’ve been to wave lake before, how can anyone be possibly be living here and have not been to wave lake before.?” I rolled my eyes and he smiled.
“Okay then, Mrs. Know it all, lead the way!” He scoffed.
“follow my lead then!” I primped.
Jason and I walked on the busy streets as many things caught our eyes and attention, we talked about them and then moved to another conversation. It went like that till Jason found a ph0to booth.
“I didn’t know we had a ph0to booth in town!” Jason said.
“Yeah, I mean it’s the twenty first century for christ sake, how is the owner ma-king any money, we all have our phones to take pictures of ourselves!” I stated.
“Maybe some people still wants things the old fashioned way,” Jason smiled staring at the booth.
I looked at him “And why am I feeling like you do too. Come on, let’s go then!” I said and pu-ll-ed him by his hand.
We got into the ph0to booth and had our pictures taken and received the tiny ph0to of us as we walked out of the booth.
“Oh my God, I look hideous!” I said as I stared at the pictures as my head looked big and swollen in all the pictures, arranged in rows.
“No kidding, your head suddenly reminded me of eggs!” Jason laughed.
“that’s it, I’m burning them all!” I said about to shove the pictures in my bag when Jason took it from me.
“This will all be memories, just forget the fact that you look like a female egg, I’ll keep this, don’t worry!” Jason gave a smile.
“We’re on a [email protected]£ Jason, I’m supposed to Recieve compliment for the whole day!” I crossed my arms around my che-st.
“Okay, sorry, you look like a gorgeously cooked egg”.
“You’re impossible” I added dramatically and started to walk ahead of him.
“You should say that to your self more often.” Jason laughed behind me. “And I was joking. You looked pretty in all of them.”
“Not buying your sweet fake words this time.” I said to him.
And from the front I could hear his hysteric laugh.
We got to wave lake.
Wave lake is one of the lake in our town and the only lake in our town, its not too big or small, there’s a bridge at the center of the lake, a very wi-de and spacious bridge that reaches the other end of the lake.
It’s wi-de enough for two cars to fit in but cars or any other vehicles are not allowed on the bridge, I’ve been to the bridge twice and its been nothing more than a bridge, but now people see it as a bridge where they can go for picnics, cause its close to the water and you can meet a perfect sunset and a perfect view, And then there was a rumour that [email protected]£ that said two people actually did a wedding on the bridge. Well they’re pretty strange rumours going on about this bridge.
Jason and I got to the wooden bridge, a wooden bridge that I’m sure wood live for a hundred years.
I was about to step on the bridge when Jason st©pped me.
“What?” I asked.
“I heard something about this bridge.” he said narrowing his eyes.
“And what did you hear?” I added sarcastically.
“Just hold my hand, and when we get on the bridge, I’ll tell ya” Jason stated.
“Seriously?” I sh0t him a glare.
“We’re just holding hands, not str!pping, gosh for goodness sake can you just not act forty three for five minutes?” Jason shook his head.
I sighed. “Okay fine give me your hand”
“Now that’s more like it!” Jason grinned and before I knew it, he clasped our f!ngerstogether and pu-ll-ed me gently as we both took a step on the bridge.
He let’s go of my hand immediately we stepped on the bridge.
“Why did you even hold them in the first place?”
“Because… I heard a rumour, that if two people of the opposite walks together on this bridge simultaneously, holding hands, that they’ll fall in love, and I’m alre-ady in love with you, so it just nee-ds to happen the other way round too!” Jason smiled.
Like I said, this bridge and it’s crazy rumours.
And somehow I like how he continously and boldly admits he likes me. It’s flattering.
“And you believe that?” I sh0t him a quizzical look.
“Uh duhh, why not” he shrugged.
We both starts to walk on the bridge, not actually heading to the other side, but just walking on the bridge, enjoying the view, and the coolness from the lake.
People stood on each side of the open bridge, some with families, friends, couples, the bridge was filled with laughter from different voices, footsteps could be heard too, cause Jason and I weren’t the only one walking around.
“If you look closely, almost at the end of the bridge, there’s an ice cream cart, do you think we should get one?” Jason asked.
“Why not!” I said and our destination on the bridge suddenly [email protected]£ almost at the end of the bridge, where they sold ice-cream.
Jason and I walked towards the cart when we suddenly encountered a group of teenagers coming our way.
They all started to whisper among themselves and started to stylishly point at Jason.
Oh so they think he’s cute.
“You know they’re talking about you right?” I asked and Jason laughed.
“Did you have to say so, of course I do!” Jason couldn’t contain his laugh, his white teeth matching his inner shi-t.
The girls were still a bit far away so they could [email protected] hear what we were saying.
“So, here’s a plan!” I grinned.
“A plan for what?” Jason asked.
“Just listen, when the girls come close by, I like the girl with the red hair, so throw a flir-ty smile at her or maybe wi-nk, to get her melting!” I smiled and Jason paused to look at me. “I didn’t know you had this side of you Elsa!”.
“Well now you know, so do it!” I said and he shook his head Negatively pretending he wasn’t interested in my plan.
But when the girls got close, and at exactly to the red haired girl, Jason threw her a flir-ty smile and win-ked.
The girls silently screamed and when they walked pas-sed us they all started to say “Oh my God, he win-ked at Anna!”
Jason and I couldn’t contain the laugh that was coming up. And we both let it all out immediately we couldn’t hear the girls anymore.
“Nice one though” Jason breathed out.
“I know right!” I smiled.
“But wait, we’re both on a [email protected]£, why are you telling me to flir-t with other girls!” Jason asked.
I shrugged. “I don’t know cause it’s fun!”
“Well it is fun, but you’re supposed to be jealous!” Jason stated.
“Oh…” I turned to him. “I get it, that was the [email protected] I was supposed to be jealous right?”
“Yep, but you made me throw a wi-nk!” Jason sighed.
“Yeah, which doesn’t get old every single moment I think about” I spat a small laugh.
Two other girls walked by and again they were also mesmerized by Jason’s “Charm”.
“Sorry, we’re on a [email protected]£ you can look else where.” I said to the girls and they glared at me before walking away very fast.
“Huh?” Jason turned to me.
“What? Are you disappointed, I thought you said I was supposed to be jealous, I’m being jealous and all you can say is ‘huh?’…” I rolled my eyes.
“Actually my so called ‘huh?’ was a speechless expression which actually [email protected]£ a speech cause I said and which actually meant how surprised I was by your action! And I know you weren’t really jealous, you were just acting!” Jason said narrowing his eyes at me.
We were almost at the ice-cream place and my mouth was starting to water.
“You know, I like how you get me so much!” I laughed and hurried to the ice cream cart.
Sadly the man selling the ice cream said he had sell he had to today, and there was no more Ice cream.
Jason and I rested at the wooding railings of the bridge and watched the water.
“And it is a pretty nice view!” I sighed.
“Are you sure, cause from up here it seems a lot nicer!” Jason sm-irked.
I looked up at him. “What do you mean from up there, we’re both standing on the same place and watching the same view.”
“Yeah I know that!” he bit his bottoml-ip.
Okay he shouldn’t have done that.
“Well we’re standing on the same grounds, but we’re not actually the same height!” he tea-sed and I shut my eyes.
“Okay fine. ru-b it all in. You’re taller I get it, now shut up!” I sighed and he laughed.
He nee-ds to pay me up, I’ve made him laugh all day.
“You find it funny teasing me don’t ya!” I sighed.
“Yep” he replied popping the ‘p’
We both stayed like that and said nothing, other people’s chattering could be heard from afar and the cool breeze just sweetened the atmosphere.
I watched the lake as the wind danced on the water ma-king it create powerless and tiny waves.
My skin went cold and my blood went h0t immediately Jason hvgged me from behind.
His hands across my shoulders and his chin resting on my left shoulder.
“I’m asking for your permission, can we stay like this for just a second!”
